So, I admit to some bias because this is literally the first reverse harem book I have ever read, and it took me getting about 3/4 of the way through the book before I finally figured out that slow pacing was on purpose as the story is meant to be stretched out over multiple books. My apologies for that.
However, despite that, I still have to say that I found it hard to get into the story as it felt a little like the same thing over and over for over half the book. My suspension of disbelief was stretched pretty thin on how little things changed despite the whole story taking place over a year (until everything changed at once).
Now, the setting itself was GORGEOUS. Beautifully depicted, I could see the bar at the Coconut Cove, feel sand in my toes, and sense the roll of the ocean waves. The book was a visceral experience on every page (even the dirty ones heehee), and I loved living on a beach with a bunch of hot guys for a while.
I'm reading the second book partially because I don't like leaving series unfinished and partially because I am not going to judge an author by a single book.
