The thrilling conclusion to the series gives you everything you want all tied up, nice and neat. With multiple murders solved, and the real truth coming out, you will be satisfied with this conclusion. I thought that the author did a phenomenal job with each character and the authors storytelling ability is my favorite in a while. I’m looking forward to reading other works by this author as soon as possible.

Murder most devious

The finale of this series had me hooked. Will Claire finally find the killer? Or will she be killed? Surprising twist at the end. A well written murder mystery. Fluid storyline. Difficult to put down once you get started.

This is novella five of the Isle of Bute series and Detective Claire Murray is still trying to deal with all the dead bodies they have discovered in Port Bannatyne, which point to a serial killer who has been operating on the Isle of Bute for decades. She also has the recent poisonings of three students by another student who they were bullying badly for some time. She has figured out what the poison was and it comes from a plant that her mother used to grow in her greenhouse, before her death. Her aunt Amelia is now her father’s second wife, seemingly having replaced her mother Ava, and living in her childhood home. She also wants to find her younger brother Harris’’ killer and find out if her mother did commit suicide or if she was also a victim of murder all those years ago!

You really need to read each of these short books, one after the other without much of a delay, as each seems to jump right in from where the previous one abruptly ended. They are definitely not novellas that can be read on their own, as standalone books and it would have been much easier to follow if they were all put together into one book. Claire is having to work under her father as the temporary police chief, pulled out of his retirement, after Ella, the current chief ended up in hospital and unconscious. Her friends are suspicious of her partner and former mentor Ben, who was also in love with her mother! They are keeping all of the information about the serial killer case, close to hand and just between themselves. Chief Ella was also working on the timeline of the victims and their identities, just before she was injured in a hit and run.

The person responsible for the decades of young girls being murder on the island becomes pretty clear as you read through the series and Claire stands to lose a lot as the end comes closer. She and her friends have been working off the books, investigating the Port Bannatyne murders, and could be in a lot of trouble if their actions are uncovered. They are desperate to keep their actions secrets, in the hope they have not given anything away to the killer. But people are in danger and the killer wants to remain hidden from all those around them. They will kill with no hint of hesitancy, to keep their dark secrets alive. An island secret, kept by many, but uncovered by the few. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the novella above.

I Read the Whole Series and Didn’t Like It

Why did I read the whole series if I didn’t like it? Honestly, I was trying to reach my reading goal for the year, which is almost over and thought these novellas would help me do it. The first book wasn’t so bad, although the heroine was annoying, flipping her strawberry blond hair around and into a ponytail all the time. She wants to be treated as an adult, but rolls her eyes and doesn’t follow orders. I was pretty sure I knew whodunit from early on, and I was right. Usually I don’t or don’t until much later. Some of the plot twists are far fetched. And the author has lips “tilt” repeatedly rather then smile. Similarly, hands “clench into claws” or “fists” repeatedly. Annoying. And no one seems to have copyedited these: a coma is a comma, believe it or not, among many other things. I read far enough into the series that I needed to finish it to see how the outlandish plot twists were resolved. Not very satisfactorily, and then things wound up too quickly. I made my reading goal, by the way, and have a few more days to find a real good book or two. Do yourselves a favor and give these a pass.

Another will written British 🏰 family relationship murder mystery adventure thriller five book series by Levi Fuller. The last novella in the series brin brings everything t too a conclusion. The father and aunt are guilty of murdering twenty-nine people and multiple other crimes. I would highly recommend this five novella series to readers of mysteries. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa as I do because of eye damage and health issues from shingles. 2022 👒🏰👑👗

Claire is back home on her island and so is the killer. Will she find him first? What happened was certainly not expected, at least by me. And I loved the descriptions of the island. Levi Fuller books are always a great read.

Great series I had to read all 5 books in one day as I couldn't put it down. It was worth every penny as this mystery was so near Rothesay Scotland where my family lived. Levi makes story's feel exciting and keep you on the edge of your seat to fine out what is going to happen next. This series is a must read.

Hide the Bones

I enjoyed thus series. Why? Because. They were short and to the point. . .yes, I know they are novels. You could read the complete series by the end of a weekend. I give each novella fours. However, the complete series gets a worthy five.

A great series. I must say I picked the killers. I’m really sad Logan had to die. Poor Claire. I’ve read 3,4 and 5 today. Thank you Levi.
