Callie McClain is back in Montana after a twelve year absence to care for her ailing father, despite the fact she can’t stand the cold and isolation. But in an ironic twist of fate, it seems Montana is finally giving her what she wants—blistering heat and a fiery glow that threatens to incinerate everything in its path. Wildfire. The only thing hotter than the advancing flames is the smokejumper who comes to her rescue, and suddenly Callie is finding reasons why Montana might just have everything she’s ever wanted.

Tyler Dodson can’t recall a time when he didn’t want to be a smokejumper. There’s nothing as dangerous—or as exhilarating—as jumping, until he rescues a pretty veterinarian from an advancing wildfire. He knows he shouldn’t get involved. He doesn’t need that kind of complication in his life, and distractions of any kind can be deadly in his line of work. So why can’t he keep his mind – and his hands – off of Callie McClain?

This is book four in this series and all I can say is woohoo I loved this one as much as the first three in the series what's not to love about a hot smokejumper who has such a caring way about him and knows how to love a lady. This is Tyler Dodson's story he has been married and divorced is settled in Glacier Creek Montana has a block of land that he is planning on building a home for himself he has been burnt once and doesn't plan on doing that again although that is probably about to change when he is working on one of the biggest wildfires they have seen for a while and is called in to rescue a family in the path of the fire and when he meets the daughter of the owner of the wolf sanctuary there is more heat caused by the spark from them and not just the fire.

Callie McClain has returned home to Montana from California to care for her father after he has had a heart attack her Dad runs a wolf sanctuary and they are both vets but they do not have a close relationship and when the fire turns fast and puts them and the wolves in the path the smokejumpers turn up to rescue them and one smokejumper in particular brings further heat to Callie but things are happening too fast to for everyone and Callie just makes it off the mountain with her very ill father and some of the wolves but the firefighter is not forgotten.

This is a fabulous story MS Foley has bought the fear and suspense of the fire out on the pages and shoes how destructive they can be but she has also opened up a journey to a HEA for Tyler and Callie one that is sensual and so very thoughtful considering all that they are going through and the distance they live from each other. This one is beautifully written and was the first one I have read of MS Foley's but it won't be the last. I am very much enjoying this series and look forward to the next one.

Another enjoyable instalment in the Firefighters of Montana series, this time it's Tyler's turn to find a HEA with former Montana girl, Callie.

I loved the portrayal of animals in this story, both wild and domestic. I loved the humour and friendship between the guys, and the steamy connection between Tyler and Callie.

I didn't love that they didn't actually get to spend much time together. I need more connection between the characters, whereas this bordered on insta-love for me.

I also had trouble with Tyler's step-father, Mike. Why was he seeking Tyler out now? Even though he has a vastly different view of their relationship over the years, why did he choose now to try to change that? (I thought this was glossed over in general and wrapped up a little too neatly for all the hurt feelings that were involved.)

Still, this was another solid addition to the series. I'm looking forward to the next and final book.

"Heat" Firefighters of Montana is the fourth of five in this series. What a beautiful story! I can't say enough about how much I love this series. All the novels in this series are written by different authors. This one was written by Karen Foley. Here we have the story of smokejumper/firefighter, Tyler Dodson and veterinarian Callie McClain.

Callie, born and raised in Montana, returns to her childhood home to take care of her father who is recovering from a massive heart attack. Callie puts her life on hold and leaves her home in California to help her father. She has no intention of staying permanently in Montana. In fact, she plans to convince her father to return to California with her. Of course he is stubborn and wouldn't willingly leave his home. In fact, he nearly gets them killed when he refuses to leave their home which is a sanctuary for his precious wolves.

Tyler is a smokejumper. He literally jumps from an airplane into forest fires. I actually learned a lot about what smokejumpers do and I have great respect and admiration for how they put themselves in extreme danger. During a wildfire, Tyler is sent with a small crew to rescue a man and his daughter who are currently in the path of the fires. The first time Tyler sets eyes on Callie he is struck with a strange feeling and all his protective instincts come alive. Of course, Tyler and Callie can't make a relationship work when he lives in Montana and she in California.

This was a sweet story of two people finding love and a way to make it work. It was not an easy journey for them. This was no insta-love story; it was realistic and their feelings for each other grew gradually, but were no less intense. When they finally came together.....well let's just say this novel was appropriately named...HEAT...!!!

Tyler and Callie were good people and good for each other. They were likable characters and easy to connect with and it was sweet and satisfying to watch them find their HEA.

That being said, there was one small detail that bothered me in this novel. Tyler's co-worker and friend, Ace, had his HEA in the previous book, "Ignite." However, there were repeated insinuations throughout the book that he was still single. That annoyed me a bit but it had no reflection on how much I loved Tyler and Callie's story.

Callie is back to help her ailing father when a wild fire takes over his wolf rescue. He doesn't want to leave but Tyler one of the fire hands convinces him to leave for his daughters sake. Tyler starts seeing Callie here and there as she comes to thank him. They have a great night together and she has to decide if she wants to stay or go back to home with her dad. Can these two work it out?
On the edge of your seat read. You will find yourself turning the pages fast to find out what happens. The author does an excellent job with the characters and the plot. Anyone can relate to story and will hate seeing it end. A book you will want to read again.

Tyler lives and breaths smokejumping. That's all he's ever known and all he's ever wanted to be. So when he's off doing his job and rescuing the people stranded in a wolf sanctuary he's not prepared to meet the woman of his dreams. So he does what he does best and sends them off to safety. Soon after he ends up in hospital for work-related fatigue and smoke inhalation. Again his unexpected encounter with Callie leaves him questioning his decision to stay detached.

Callie's preoccupied with nursing her dad back to health and finding a permanent home for the surviving wolves from the sanctuary. But Tyler is a welcome distraction, for the moment. Even though she knows her feelings for Tyler are not to be take mildly, she knows that making this a long term relationship is going to be next to impossible. So when she breaks it off with him in hopes of saving her from heartbreak later, she realises that she's already too far gone. Thank goodness Tyler comes to the same conclusion and we get a lovely HEA where all parties concerned make the best of decisions.

3 stars. Maybe even 3+. Really solid read, but missing a little something to rate it any higher.

Another romantic adventure with the Glacier Creek smokejumper team. Here we have Tyler (H), an experienced jumper who's not looking for marriage - or any relationship. He's been there, done that, and now focuses on his work and his dream house he'll be building soon. In the battling one wildfire, he rescues Callie (h) and her father, who runs a wolf sanctuary outside of town. There's a spark there (haha!), but with each of them in town for just a short while, is there any chance of something more?

This was the first book in the series I read, even though it's book 4 (didn't realize that when I started!). Didn't hurt things though. These are solid standalones, so you don't really miss anything. There's a nice recap of the team members and one or two of their relationships (which you can definitely tell were some of the earlier books in the series - have that Romance Plot feel to them).

I liked the team dynamics with the jumpers. I liked the action with the firefighting scenes. I liked Callie's animals. I liked each of them addressing their distant paternal figures (dad and stepdad, respectively), although I do wish there'd been a little more in Tyson and Mike's conversation. Seemed to come out of nowhere, I guess, especially for something that had been standing between them for 30 years.

I just didn't like the romance - that's where it lost that 4th star. They were both likeable characters, but they just didn't spend much time together before hopping into bed with each other and feeling the other was The One. Not that the sex is the issue - just the intensity of emotion with such little interaction. Rather insta-love - not my favorite. I guess at 200+ pages, I expect at least a little more development of the relationship. I did like that they then spent several months Skyping and visiting and actually getting to know each other before making any long term moves. So I guess it evened out? Unfortunately, we didn't get to see as much of that.

Minor editing issues, but for the most part pretty good. Some comma issues, that sort of thing. And a continuity issue in a scene - cargo pants at the beginning of a scene become jeans later on (I think this one only stood out to me because I just finished a book where this was a recurring issue - could only think "oh no! not another!").

Alternating 3rd person POV No cheating, no OW/OM drama, no love triangles. Some insta-love growing into something more (though unfortunately, not enough time spent on that growing portion). Still, and enjoyable read and a good entry into the series. HEA and no cliffhanger.

Would I read more from this author/this series? Yes to both. I've enjoyed these series where several authors contribute. A great way to be introduced to new authors!

Callie McClain was back in Montana to take care of his ailing father. Now wild fire is raging around wild wolf sanctuary but his father won’t budge to leave his home unless all the wolves are in his truck. Callie is trying her best to get the wolves in her truck but not all of them will be persuaded. Only couple of result left of her when she sees couple firefighters trying to help her out. Far as she was concerned they are are god send. Now his father is finally in the truck, she is racing down the mountain road to get his father to the hospital. She remembered one of the firefighter telling her to head down fastest she could to avoid being trapped in wall fire. When she finally reaches the bottom, as the mysterious firefighter promised his father is escorted by ambulance. She wanted thank him but she has to make sure all the wolves are taken care of before she does anything.
Tyler Dodson has been pushing himself to the brink after rescuing beautiful damsel at the top of the mountain. Now he is in the hospital bed recuperating after smoke inhalation. He thought he was dreaming when someone came into his room and stared into his eyes.
When Callie went back to the hospital to check on her father, she found the same firefighter who rescued her. She wanted to thank him before she loose him again.
Now they are crossing path while fire is raging around them. She is taking care of animals and he is still working as smoke jumper. They are attracted to each other but they know their time is limited since she is going back to her home in Monterey and he is going back to Glacier Creek.
Now, they have to decide if it will be fling or long term. Tyler never felt about a woman this way before and Callie’s home doesn’t feel like home to her any more. What will the do??

It was great read for summer.. Sexy firefighter and vet looking for love. I can’t wait to read about others..

DNF - about 40%

I got this book for free and didn't realise I had already read another book in this series. If I had known, I would not have started it because I didn't particularly enjoyed her other one. When I realised the connection and saw that it wasn't any better, I gave up.

I found the writing style really painful. Worse than the other one I read. It was full of explanations for everything. Foley had all this information to get into the book, but instead of actually integrating it into the storyline, she kept pulling us out to explain the word she just used or why a firefighter did what they did etc. It made it clunky and jarring to read.

With the other book in the series, Foley pushed the storyline along rather than let it happen, leaving flaws and contrived situations. This was showing the same problem. We had a situation where Callie wants to go rescue the wolves on her father's property. She asks the chief firefighter if she can but he declares that it is really unsafe. There are yellow pins in the board which means fires can flare up again at any stage. Then, far too soon, she's being invited to go up with the firefighters to fetch the wolves.

I can only assume there is going to be dramas during that trip but I stopped reading before I could find out.

Heat by Karen Foley is book 4 in the Firefighters of Montana Series. I have been reading this series backwards, which makes for saying the book reads well as a stand-alone. This story has quite a bit of fire fighting in it that caused my heart jump in my throat a time or two. It was realistic causing me to think to see how fast lives could be lost while going against a wildfire. The author called the fire a dragon at one point which I could clearly imagine. The romance was no less true, maybe more so when life becomes so very precious.

This story just flowed and while Tyler and Callie seemed to fall for each other rather quickly, I still found it completely believable. These are two of the most likable book characters that one could meet, so of course, I was pulling for them to find a way to make it work. They both had issues with their fathers that were on the way to being resolved which added to the story. The only part that was too quick for me was the ending that felt rushed. It was how I wanted it to end, but as a reader I would just have liked to see it expanded more.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

I purchased a copy of the mildly steamy novel Heat A Firefighters of Montana Romance Book 4:Dodson and by Karen Foley and this review was given freely.
Drama and action packed, this sequel returns us back to the hectic life of the Glacier Creek forest station team and contains a brief introductory summary of the first two books as well as an attraction at first sight romance between divorced and disillusioned with marriage Tyler Dodson and the woman he saves, California veterinarian Callie McClain who is visiting her father at his wolf sanctuary.

I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Flame: A Firefighters of Montana Romance Book 5 by Victoria Purman and this review was given freely.

"Heat" by Karen Foley is a book that has a bit of adventure, danger, love and "heat". Tyler and Callie meet under the hottest of circumstances - in the middle of a forest fire. Ms. Foley does an excellent job of describing the perils of wildfires. I felt I was right there with them and at times, found I was catching my breath waiting to see what would happen. Tyler, a sexy smokejumper, is attracted to Callie but fights the attraction. Callie, also attracted, feels it can go nowhere since she lives in California and he in Montana. The time they spend together I found to be warm and endearing. I enjoyed the aspect of the wolf sanctuary too. Ms. Foley has certainly written and enjoyable tale that held my interest and I look forward to reading more. Note - this is book four of the series, but can easily be read as a stand alone as I have not read the previous books and found I could follow along easily. (received copy for honest review)

Even though this story was an insta-lust I liked how it progressed. Tyler is a smokejumper. Feeling like he has always been a disappointment to his step-father, a well known smokejumper himself. He has been married, didn't last, decided that marriage is not the life for him, as he is focused on his work. Callie lives in California, but is back in Montana helping her father on his wolf sanctuary while he recovers from a heart attack. She left Montana as soon as she could because she felt like she always came after the wolves in her dad's life. Tyler and Callie meet at the sanctuary because Callie's father refuses to leave the wolves even if there is a massive wildfire bearing down on them. The chemistry is explosive. Tyler starts thinking maybe a girl can be in his future. Callie starts thinking, maybe she doesn't hate Montana as much as she thought. Can long distance work for them? Will their stubborness with their current way of life make things too hard? Enjoyed it as a quick read, though insta-lust/love isn't really my favorite trope.

This was a great story with wonderful characters. How could you not love a smokejumper like Tyler? He loves his dangerous job, jumping out of an airplane into forest fires. He's strong, both physically and mentally, kind and thoughtful. While Callie was a strong, considerate woman, staying so long at the wolf rescue when a wildfire was moving toward them, was not the smartest idea. Luckily, smokejumpers got her and her father out just in time. Callie and Tyler couldn't stop thinking about each other. Neither was looking for a relationship but didn't want to miss the chance to get to know the other.

I recommend this book to romance readers. Especially if you like steamy reads with hot heroes in dangerous jobs.

Ok- What's not to love? Firefighters- in this case Smokejumpers that battle wildfires all over Montana and the rest of the country! A veterinarian out to check on her father who runs a wolf preservation center in the wilds of Montana finds that her father who has a heart problem is refusing to leave the area when the wildfire is on top of the center. They are forced to leave when the jumpers arrive to battle the fire and are able to take only 5 of the wolves to safety. I won't give you the plot of the rest of the story-- no spoilers but will say that girl meets boy and well there is a lot of conflict! I enjoyed the drama and conflict and the characters were fairly well written. I had problems putting it down!

It's an OK read. Tends to be superficial (h is of course very pretty and has curves, H has lots of muscle), gets lost on details (H doesn't go for casual sex, has been divorced for years, but when things get steamy between h&H finds a condom in his wallet... well I wouldn't be so sure it's any protection, then the h gives him her phone number, they get separated, he never gives her his phone number, he calls her, she misses the call and he calls again and she seeing some random number knows it's him, next time they have sex she is conveniently on the pill...)

And all the angst with their fathers/step-fathers...

So, I'm not going to read any more books in the series.

First thoughts: Fast read. No lead in, you just jump right into the story, but that's okay I guess. Focuses on the 2 MCs almost exclusively as far as development and even that is limited to barely what the story needs plus relationships with difficult step/fathers. But they're so cute and everyone is having such a good time watching them. A predictable HEA, but it is sweet. The wolf sanctuary is a great setting, too. Recommended.

There was plenty of action in this story of Tyler Dodson, a smokejumper in Montana. The author obviously did a lot of research about how smokejumpers fight fires, which made me feel as if I was actually there with the men fighting the fire. Characterization of the two main characters, Tyler and Callie, was well done. There was enough background information on each for me to understand why they felt and acted as they did and how their pasts might be an obstacle to their romance. Their deepening relationship seemed realistic and led to a satisfying HEA.

Great story

I enjoyed this story with the smokejumpers. I appreciated how Callie and Tyler were drawn to each other, and even though they didn't think anything could come of it eventually started to work it out. I thought the ending was too fast but am happy they are finally together.

A quick, fun read.

The story line was interesting and entertaining and kept my interest all the way to the very end.

The characters are likeable, and the description are enough to make the reader feel the thrill and the hardship involved in being a smokejumper.

I received a free copy of this book via BookBub and am voluntarily leaving a review.

You just never know when that one person will turn up in your life and change the way you feel about and see certain things. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would but was disappointed when the ending appeared out of nowhere; not that there’s ever a good spot to end a story.

This delightful story was filled with emotion and set in the picturesque expanse of the beautiful Montana mountains. Callie and Tyler were very caring individuals longing to settle down and share their lives with a very special person that was made just for them. I was thrilled to be there when they discovered they were made for each other. Great Read!!!!

Smoke Jumpers

I am very fond of Montana and I’m familiar with the terrain. It’s such a perfect beautiful place and without Smoke Jumpers not much of our country would be safe. They have a terrible frightening job. This book is a wonderful love story and some steamy love scenes. I enjoyed this book.

Insta-love rides again, with a Glacier Creek smokejumper and a returning native who comes home to help out her father who runs a wolf sanctuary but is becoming too frail to manage alone. A wildfire respects none of this and it changes their plans, but there is an HEA here.

A sweet love story with engaging characters. It all happens pretty fast, which is fine on the one hand, but I always wonder why the resolution comes so fast in stories like this one.

It was a lovely story, well written with lovely characters and a very lovely romantic flavour, real romance as two different people come to realise there is more to the relationship. All this means that it is hard not to like.

This was okay enough, but I seemed to have a hard time staying interested in this story, which is odd because it had some tropes I really enjoy.
I liked it, but overall it was a little sad for me (even with the HEA).
