Rate this book
Greer, also known as G, has been blessed with beauty, an independent mindset, and an alluring aura that hypnotizes men. However, she has never relied on a man to take care of her; she prefers to secure her own bag. While men are the last thing on G’s mind, she seems to be the first thing on theirs. As a young boss, all the D-boys are drawn to her, but making money is the only thing on her mind. Jahi, Greer’s first love, has taught her all about heartbreak, which leads to the couple taking a break. But with all the women Jahi can have due to his good looks, money, and status, the one woman he can’t get over is Greer. Shamone, Greer’s best friend, feels that his loyalty to Greer will help her to see him as more than her “brother.” He is willing to risk everything, including his life, to prove his allegiance to her. Upon meeting Amias, who lives in the penthouse of her apartment building, Greer knows his presence is unmatched. He dresses in expensive suits, drives a different luxury car every day and gives her butterflies. In her fight to focus on her goal of moving up the ranks and making more money than she has ever imagined, she also has to determine which man is truly for her. Shamone, the best friend who always has her back, Jahi, the first man she has ever loved, or Amias, the mysterious businessman who has her intrigued. Whoever she chooses, Greer knows she can’t promise him a fairytale, because loving a trap girl ain’t easy…

Great Read

Men throw the women who have had their back and was there for them when they had nothing to the side. Try to continue to double back when the woman smarten up and realize her worth. Then men get in their feelings. They end up more bitter than women. Jahi did G dirty. He messed up with her and thought because they had history. She'll continue to be there. When thing's didn't go his way and G moved on. Jahi jealousy had him talking crazy about her and trying to do the unthinkable. Bubbles was trifling. Her jealousy of G was pitiful. I guess her going from side chick to main chick with Jahi wasn't enough. Shamone should've respected G wishes when she told him she didn't look at him in a romantic way. Instead he started thinking and acting off of emotions and became scandalous. Using Lemaya because she was weak minded didn't go as planned. G was a bad person. She just had a few people around her that wasn't loyal. Amias was good for her. They balanced each other out. Amias had some demons from his past he was battling. It sad that his mother and sister was scandalous as hell. He was hurt because of the betrayal.

Whew Chile!

This Channing family is something else. This book was a little different from what I’m used to by Natavia, but I did enjoy it. I’d definitely like to read more about Greer and Amias, along with the entire Channing family.

🔥

This was my first time reading this author, I'm a new fan. This book pulled me in from the beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat. Jahi's son's mamas had so much hate for G they couldn't enjoy their lives for worrying about what she was doing. Amais was perfect for G he loved her just how she was and wasn't intimidated by her at all. I love how he dropped knowledge on her where he saw she was lacking. I didn't feel bad for Lemaya at all she was spoiled, immature and ungrateful. Bria was foul af and deserved that a$$ whoopin plus some. I would love to know more about the Channing family. Great job🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wow

Amias was that guy and G was a G!

G was a hustler, go getter, money was her motivator. Don’t let being a female fool you or cause you to doubt her. Nothing was getting on the way of the bag. She had hood dudes dreaming about her, all the women jealous of her and the hoods loyalty.
Jahi was an insecure dude who claimed to love G but he cheated on her and had 2 babies on her. His bms were so envious because he still wanted her. He thought he was that guy but Amias showed him who’s the realist.
Amias was the connect with a family legacy to uphold. His family had his back and they ran things legally and illegally. He showed G what love was.
So they were a different type of couple. They both had a slick mouth so they always went back and forth. I guess they chilled in the house a lot. Nothing romantic really happened. She was bossy. He was indifferent at times. Their relationship was a little odd to me. So I didn’t really get into it.
Overall it was a good read outside of their relationship.

This is my first book by this author, and I have to say—she’s off to a great start. I loved the character development and the storyline. Most of all, I appreciated how the male lead is secure enough in himself to fully support his woman. Still a little toxic, but it was good. And baby, I am loving Midnite Michael as the narrator.

SIDENOTE (aka “Don’t come for my stars!”):
Just a quick heads-up—my ratings are based on whether I’d reread the book or add it to my personal collection, not the quality of the story itself. So here’s how I roll:

5 🤩 = I’m obsessed with everything—the storyline, the author, and the narrators! I read it yearly and own ALL the copies: physical, digital, and Audible. I can basically recite this book. It lives in my private library.
4 🌟 = Loved the story, the author, and the narrator (if it’s audio). I’d happily reread it when I need a solid comfort read.
3 ✨ = Enjoyed the story, the author, and definitely the narrators. A great addition to my yearly reading challenge—likely to revisit if it’s part of a series I need to refresh.

Straight Fire 🔥 🔥🔥

Man o man this book was off the chain. So many disloyal ass snakes around G. I can’t believe the secret that Amias mother kept smh. She got what she deserved. G had so many disloyal and the wrong people around her. I loved Black & Chet loyalty To her. Her cousin surprised me and she deserved that ass whooping. I knew Shamonae was gonna turn out to be a bitch made nigga frfr. It’s sad Jahi had to get a wake up call but it was to late he try to right his wrongs. You never know what you got until you see another man cherish and love the person you were supposed to love. G was that BITCH. G & Amias was made for each other. I would love to read more about the Channing family and see how G & Amias marriage plus black and Chet. Overall Good ass book 🔥🔥😍😍😍

Sooooo good!

Man this was a gooooood one!! G was a G! She was about her money and being there for the ones she loved. Jahi was lame as ever and I didn't feel bad for him one bit! Him or his airhead babymamas. Bria I'm sorry to say was trash to, and I wouldn't have any words for her or her mama, she was a jealous heifer. Shamone was just straight up delusional!! Lamaya was a spoiled, childish, lying behind heifer and for me I wanted her to suffer!! Her and her mom! I loved me some Amais 😍 he was also about his business and looking out for the people he loved just like G! They were equally yoked and I really enjoyed their love story!! I can't get enough of Natavias catalog!!! I'll always give her her flowers because she deserves them 💐💐💐💐💐

Channing family

I want to know more about the Channing family. They didn't know that Amias was certified crazy. Lemaya and her momma was one in the same. Weak behind a dude. The momma had the nerve to hate Amias.
G was a true gangster. She did not play. Jahi was a fool. He left his champagne for some beer. Twice. He got what he deserved. Bria was confused as hell. Pick a side and stick with it. Her and her momma wss the same also. I tell you the apple don't fall far from the tree. Shamone was delusional. You can't make nobody love you. I love this story. Looking forward to the next book. Good job lady.

Amias' G

I need to know more about the Channing family later. But Amias was definitely the better man for G. Shamone turned out to be a female, and Jahi was tryna right his wrongs. Chet and Black were loyal. Lemaya let a secret that wasn't even hers ruin her relationship with the only man that took care of her. Lemaya and Shamone bit the hands that fed them and they got what they deserved. Amias let G be who she wanted and helped her to find herself. She definitely made the best choice. I loved it

Yikes

Babbby this was some deep stuff here. Love can be so damaging, or the people that claim to love you don’t reall love you at all. At first I was sitting here like really you just go dismiss your son, but geesh. With guilty like that I would have move to another planet. The jealousy, the secrets, the game that was played. Shamon was a sick individual. Jaih ego needed its own body. Bria and her momma would have been out of luck. G was carrying so many people and too have some many of them going against her

The reason for giving this 3 and not 5 stars is the lack of understanding with the terminology. Because of this I struggled and found myself rereading certain paragraphs just trying to understand it.
This reads with a lack of respect, from some of the male characters towards the women, but I absolutely love how the author has written in strong female characters that take no s**t. So please don't skip this book or overlook it, because the author's put everything in this story and it makes for a good read.

Greer and Amias

Greer was in a relationship that downgraded to friends with benefits. She didn't realize how the people around her used her for her talents. She didn't realize it until she began to want and do things differently.

Amias lived in the same building as Greer. He did not have an immediate interest in her. Eventually, he was able to get her to date him.

There were many people in Greer's life who wanted her to remain the same or change for their benefit. She learned the truth of the betrayals of the people she kept close and trusted.

Awesome

Natavia, did a wonderful job with this book. I was in to this book from the first page. It just goes to show how envy & jealousy can destroy people. I just couldn't believe that Lemaya would ever cross her own brother. All these women were scheming and strenuous treacherous. All G wanted was people to be loyal & hold her down the way she held them down....I'm glad she finally got her happily ever after and I can't wait to read about The Channings!

Ok Read

Honestly, I did not love this story. It did not lack the usual drama, so I was never bored with it. There really wasn’t a strong connection between G and Amias. There was no solid build-up to a relationship between them. Them being in love was not palpable. Also, I think more background information about Amias and the Channing family would have painted a clearer picture of who Amias and his family were. I would love to read more about them in the future.

I loved G and how she didn’t allow anyone’s opinion change her. G and Amais love story was real and not the typical hood story. They didn’t fall in love at first sight and Amais had serious issues. Thank you for touching on mental health because it’s real and many people shy away from the topic. One last thing I’m happy Shamone and Lemaya got what they deserve!!! How can you turn your back on your own brother!!

😳🥰😍🙄

Those are the emotions I felt for that book lol I thought overall was a great book but I had to rate it 3 stars for the write up.. a book is supposed to feel like a movie (well to me) and this one seemed like a great low budget hood movie (which are some of the dopest movies! So it’s no shade!) but the transitions are going to be crucial! And for me this book didn’t transition well..it didn’t flow like it could and felt unrealistic at some points

Horrible

This book seemed rushed and all over the place. No character development and was written like the author was a high school student . I also disliked the over use of slang to make Amais seem extra hood, it was uncalled for. For example calling Greer Moe and bambaas was extremely annoying . This was a bad read I tried to finish because the story line seemed interesting but this book was just bad I don’t know who rated 5 stars but this book was not that.

Phenomenal Read

Mannnnnnnnn, when I say this read was fie, it really was. From the beginning to the end, I enjoyed every page that I turned. G is such a boss, and I loved every minute of it, I was really shocked with Shamone, but I don't feel sorry for him. Jahi made me so mad how he was trying to play everybody but in the end didn't come out on top. Amais was the MANNNNNNNNN. Natavia NEVER disappoints.

3 men and only one really had my girls back. This really showed that you can’t trust people. And sometimes it’s always those closest to you.

This was a rollercoaster ride I didn’t want to get off of. From the first two sentences to the last.

I agree with everyone else on getting more on “the channings”. I was up til’ 5 am listening to this. Once you start this book, you won’t want to have plans to do anything but to finish it.

Five star read all the way!!!

I love that G was a true boss and hustler!! She met her match in Amias and they were serious couple goals. I loved everything about this story. The writing was great with no noticeable errors. Definite different from your run of the mill story. I would love to read more about Amias crazy family.

That damn Jahi I couldn’t stand him but Shamone just took the cake . He was a real BITCH , like he turned out to be a bitter ass man who couldn’t take it for what it was & keep it moving. Amais was a good fit for G , just wished their relationship wasn’t so rushed . But Queen this is definitely a great book !

Oh my gosh!!!

That book was 🔥. That damn Amias was a straight up thug. Him and G was a match made in heaven. They had that same hustler’s mentality. I didn’t thing she would ever get over Jahi but I’m glad she did. That Shamone was a bi$&h because G didn’t want him. I’m glad Amias chopped that bammas head off. We most definitely need to have more of the Channing family.

Not it

Ok Natavia please don’t start this. I really love all your books, but the last three has not been it. This book reminded me of Damages. Asayi and Trayvon. The same dope boy plot, this book was very predictable. I expect more because I have read some dope book from you. Can you please retire the dope boy and hood chick with the bad attitude characters, please.

Excellent

This was so worth the wait. The Channings definitely need their own book. I have to say that everyone got just what they deserved in this book. This is the first time that I wasn't left ticked off because an evil character got away with something. Great job as always Natavia.
