You're innocent, but you just spent 5 years in prison. Would you be okay with never learning the truth?
Former soccer coach Xander Reinerman barely made it out of prison alive with scars and panic attacks as souvenirs. Five years ago, someone framed him and now he's out to show the world (especially his family) that he isn't the monster the media made him out to be. Doing that in a new town with no money, no friends, and a felony record will take every weapon in his arsenal and what's left of his shredded hope.
After Golden’s philanthropist Gia Carter offers shelter to the handsome, dark-haired stranger in town, her life begins to unravel at breakneck speed, starting with her growing attraction to this man she knows nothing about. Someone's out to ruin her and they won't stop until she's headed back to her parents in a body bag.
Can Xander and Gia keep shambles of their lives together long enough to name their enemies, get justice, and learn to trust along the way? Will their brewing romance be cut short by their checkered pasts?

I really enjoyed the characters and stories in this book. Any time there is a theme of redemption and restoration, I’m pretty much going to love it. Gia and Xander make a great pair, both dealing with personal struggles that they find ways through. Loved it!
This is the first book I read from this author and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Can´t wait to read other books from this great writer! Amazing job! a must-read!. A fantastic book that has it all!
I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for a romance enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. I highly recommend Christy Gill books!
This is my first book by C.D. Gill. I enjoyed reading this nuanced story of survival and resilience. Undefeated is certainly the right title. Xander has spent five long years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Unfortunately, Xander upon reentry had no support system. Trying to make his way home, he is helped by a few people with rides. Gia runs a nonprofit for homeless people and allows Xander to have space in her home not knowing that he is a felon. Their journey to friendship and more is sweet. Gia also has problems as someone appears to be trying to kill her. This story very nicely detailed the plight of the homeless as well as convicts trying to find jobs and housing after leaving prison. Not everyone will be so blessed to find a Gia.
The first book in this series, Undefeated gives the reader quite a ride that will keep you guessing. I thought that Gia’s character was a bit different than I was first expecting, and she certainly isn’t perfect by any means, but I did admire her tenacity to make the best of things, despite how hard things got throughout her life. I think that this series will have a bit of a different style than someone might expect, but it was a fun book to read
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was a good one. Gia was running from her past. And fear of the past was no stranger to her. What happened to Xander is a situation of how Bad things can happen to Good people. He was at his lowest and trying to figure out the mystery of what happen to him in his past. Most of all, having his family turned their backs on him was a true discouragement. But when you have love and support from someone you love, both Gia and Xander felt - Undefeated!
Thriller. With both main characters trying to recover their lives and uncover the ones that tried to harm them. Mystery and thriller as Gia is threatened. Slow burn romance.Good read
This book captured my attention from the first page! I loved the portrayal of the heroine as a strong, independent and intelligent young woman who cares deeply about others. I found the relationship between Gia and Xander a compelling example of mutual trust and respect.
This is my first read by C.D. Gill. I very much enjoy reading stories from different perspectives, and this was definitely different! I enjoyed her writing style and was very curious how everything would end up. It was full of surprises and interesting characters.
C.D. Gill is a new-to-me author. I truly enjoyed reading Undefeated, which has suspense in it. Gia has some skeletons in her closet but also knows how to protect herself and is determined to make her own way into the world, even though she comes from a wealthy family. Xander, without his family's support, has been released from prison and is looking for answers to prove his innocence. I adore their growing relationship with each other as they work together to find the answers to whoever framed Xander and who is trying to destroy Gia's new life she is building. I'm looking forward to reading more of C.D. Gill's books. I received a complimentary copy of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Alexander Reinerman is just getting out of a five year prison stint for a crime he claims he didn’t commit. After hitchhiking to Golden, Colorado, he meets Gia Carter, who gives him a room above her garage to get back on his feet. Gia has her own reasons for being in the small town of Golden, and together they work on their lives. Will Xander be able to clear his name or will he forever be a felon?
Spoilers!
Even though it was fairly obvious from the beginning, I loved how Gia and Xander’s relationship slowly progressed to them dating.
When Gia’s father announced the arrest of Bronc and Grant at the fake engagement party, I was shocked. It was a great way to bring everything to a close.
Really enjoyed the tension ratcheting up as the story went along. It was extremely difficult to put down and get back to work. Chapters were a smart length to read a handful during lunch but it was challenging to set aside and go back to work. I definitely want to read more in this series and by this author.
This was a really great story. But I'm not sure if it should drag on or if I want to go on this drawn out ride. I loved the fact that it wasn't filled with porn. Ill have to give it some thought
First time reading this author's work, but I can guarantee I will be reading more. Hard hitting and gripping could not wait to turn the page. Great storytelling with really full characters. Can't wait to read the next instalment. I recommend you will enjoy.
This was a great read. The characters were well developed and kept you captured from the beginning. I enjoyed the twists and turns throughout. Highly recommend this read!
Audiobook: This started out interesting but the love story part was boring and too chaste with Gia and Xander. They were both so boring. The passion that was leading up to when they finally kissed was decent and all she did was talk about how attractive he was and how attracted she was to him so it would’ve been nice if they’d had some steamy sex or make out scenes. Her backstory with her ex was interesting and so was Xander’s but there too many storylines also too much golf .😒 Her pretending to marry her ex was just weird. She was presented as an independent woman who had been survived an abusive ex only to retrogress back to her parents home and have a fake relationship with said ex??? Also again there was zero sex. She seemed to revert to a immature child when it came to her parents….It was a contrast to the woman she was in the beginning. I ask wished she had some noticeably Black female friends especially since Gia is a Black woman. Her character felt a little felt a little whitewashed. Also, I never figured out why she was taking in people including Xander with no questions asked if she’s on the run. The mystery part is too boring and slow.
First of all both Xander and Gia were so emotionally immature it was exhausting. Let’s start with Xander. For someone who was basically abandoned and let to rot by all family, his obsession with proving his innocence, not for himself so he could know the truth and have a chance to get his record expunged, but to get back in with his family was ludicrous. Xander came across as a middle schooler wanting a gold star from his parents instead of an adult who went through hell. When people show you who they are believe them. These people weren’t family, he would be better off staying away from the toxicity. 3 complete strangers help him more in a month than his entire family in over 5 years. Even if his siblings couldn’t visit what about letters? The first meeting in the park with Lincoln said it all. He couldn’t be seen with his own brother for more than 15 minutes because he might get negative attention? Really? And then he doesn’t have the decency to ask where he lives, give him money to help or anything but has the audacity to tell him he heard he was someone’s pet and to send him the bill for his therapy? Really? As for Gia, I’m sorry but the timeline was unbelievable. Somehow she’d managed to have an architectural degree and 3 years experience by age 25? I understand wanting to help but just having a single heiress letting people live in her garden wasn’t believable. I get wanting to fly under the radar but this was just reckless. The ending also felt flat to me. I like an hea as much as the next person but the whole poor rich girl who doesn’t want to live in Daddy’s shadow and want to make penance by running a non profit was a bit cliché. The whole thing was compounded by Xander basically single handedly solving the country’s and international waste issue one bench at a time was too much. I would have preferred a real hea where he got vindicated, his record expunged and got a spot as assistant coach or even head coach somewhere.
