A literal masterpiece.

Easy to read, enjoyable from the get go and gets into the nitty-gritty of addiction, mental health and current struggles of young people in today’s world.

I loved every single book, but Rose & Connor hold a special place in my heart.

It’s a long series but it’s worth it, especially when you read both this series and the sister series together.

A comfort read till’ the day I die x

I went into the Addicted series by Krista and Becca Ritchie with an open mind, expecting an emotional, character-driven romance that tackled difficult topics with depth and nuance. What I got instead was a mess of toxic relationships, unlikable characters, and a plot that dragged on with no real purpose. There was not a single aspect of this series that I enjoyed, and I genuinely don’t understand how it has such a devoted fanbase.

Let’s start with Loren and Lily—the worst characters I have ever had the misfortune of reading. If I could give them negative stars, I would. Their relationship is supposed to be this epic, tragic love story where they overcome their addictions together, but in reality, they spend most of their time enabling each other. Instead of truly supporting one another in a way that leads to growth, they continue down a destructive path, all while the narrative tries to convince us that this is somehow romantic. Loren Hale wasn’t the absolute worst character in the series, apart from being a raging alcoholic in the beginning. But Lily? Jesus fucking Christ. Her inner monologue was painful to read. The authors had a goldmine of potential with the idea of writing a character struggling with sex addiction, but they absolutely ruined it with their writing style.

For some reason, Lily is written like an actual child. I don’t know why, but she remains stuck in this weird, immature mindset for the entire series. Her 11-year-old son was more intelligent than her, and despite the books spanning over a decade and a half, she never actually grows as a person. In fact, I’d argue she gets even worse. There’s one scene that sticks out in my mind where she’s holding her kid and congratulates herself for not dropping them by saying, “Good job, arms.” What the fuck? How am I supposed to take this character seriously? She was so insufferable that her POV actually pissed me off more than anything else in the series.

Then we have Connor and Rose, who are slightly more tolerable but still far from enjoyable. Connor is a narcissist, and Rose outright hates him at the start, yet somehow, they become this power couple? Their relationship is built on arrogance and constant one-upping, and while I can see why some people found them entertaining, their romance felt forced and unnatural. It seemed like the authors just wanted to pair everyone off, and Connor and Rose were thrown together to fill that quota. That being said, they were probably the least insufferable couple, which isn’t saying much.

And then there’s Ryke and Daisy, which brings me to one of the most unsettling parts of the series. Their story was okay—if you ignore Ryke’s bizarre obsession with profanity and their really weird start. I mean, she was 17, and he was what, 24? A seven-year age gap wouldn’t be a huge deal if they had met as full-grown adults, but the fact that Ryke spends so much time insisting he’s “too old” for Daisy when she’s underage only to suddenly jump into bed with her the second she turns 18? Come on. There is no way that he wasn’t already in love with her when she was a minor, which makes the whole thing wildly uncomfortable. I don’t care how the authors try to frame it—his feelings didn’t magically appear overnight.

And Daisy? She was… okay at best, though annoying and weird at times. There were moments when I genuinely couldn’t understand what the hell she was doing—like that thing where she would randomly start howling? Why? What was the purpose of that? It was like the authors were trying so hard to make her seem quirky and free-spirited, but instead, she just came across as bizarre.

On top of all these terrible romances, the pacing of the series was absolute torture. Every book felt unnecessarily long, with way too much filler. The dialogue was repetitive, the conflicts were dragged out far beyond what was necessary, and any attempt at emotional depth was overshadowed by melodrama. There wasn’t even a real plot outside of the characters’ relationships, and because those relationships were so bad, the entire series felt pointless.

Overall, Addicted fails in every way possible. The characters are unbearable, the relationships are problematic, and the writing makes even the most interesting premises feel like a chore to get through. I kept hoping it would get better, that there would be some kind of payoff for sticking with it, but by the end, I was left with nothing but frustration and regret. I genuinely don’t understand how this series has such a devoted following, because to me, it was one of the worst romance series I’ve ever read.

And at the end of the series, in the author's notes, they mention that we've read over 1 million of their words. 1 million words too many in my opinion.

1/5 stars. Would not recommend.

Addicted Series

I’ve spent the past week of my life struggling with Lo and Lily through the ups and downs of their relationship. Sometimes the villains win and triumph in real life. In this instance in spite of the relentless winning of the villains, the heroes in this piece also win in their own right.

I cried copious tears through this series. My heart burned and ached for this dear couple. I couldn’t pull myself away from Lily and Lo to follow the Calloway Sisters series, but I will double back to give them their due. This week was dedicated to Lilly and Lo. I read Moffy’s book first and it whet my appetite to see where it all began. I’m so happy that I did.

Interesting series that started it all.

Most of the books are written in dual first person POV. Good amount of sexy times in each. Little bit of snarky humor but some tissues are needed. Be advised, the first book starts with both main characters sleeping with other people. No details are given but some people have a problem with that. I read the Like Us books 1-6 first which is about the children of the Calloway sisters (Addicted is about Lily Calloway) so I knew some things that happened but not everything. I always thought that Lily and Lo “enabling” each other meant that they just fed each other’s addictions (she cleaned him up if he drank too much and in return he provided her with sex). In actuality, they pretended to be in a relationship so that they could lie to their families and still do what they wanted. This is resolved fairly early on but it’s still a bumpy ride for them.

Firstly I want to say that this series was not what I expected at ALL.
When I saw this was about two addicts falling in love well...That looked like a trainwreck waiting to happen. But I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't.

Throughout this series, I felt like I was waiting for the other shoe to drop so it was actually very suspenseful to me. I did shed a tear or two for lily because seeing her struggle with her addiction was absolutely the hardest. I felt very protective of Lily because she was a very weak character but yet strong in her own ways.

I love that the authors brought in like marvel, x-men, and harry potter stuff in there. Overall this series was really good and I feel if you're going to read this you should get the box set because it has all the books for you in order. Also, I'm reviewing this like a month after reading! catching up on reviews :)

There are no words for how amazing this series is‼️

So I read the Like US series first, (MARROW4LIFE) and I wanted a background and an understanding of Lily and Lo. I thought that I wouldn't feel everything the same since I knew their "ending" but in a way I felt it 10x more. To the amazing authors, I'm kinda obsessed with you guys because you make your characters so unbelievably human and tackle so many aspects of society and personalities that are usually forgotten or misunderstood. Thank you for making them represented without forcing them or making them caricatures. Anxiously waiting for the rest of the series and spin-offs. 🤩🤩 and just about anything you guys write.

This fucking series.
One thing.
Love.Passion.Family.
That was all included in it. I should have realised it from the beginning but now at the end the realisation has hit me hard. I have always said one thing: “True love is when the only thing stopping the lovers from getting together is the world or fate. Not themselves”
Because you would never purposely put yourselves in a position to lose someone you love.
This series definitely showed that. It wasn’t at all cliche or whatsoever and that was amazing. There was nothing about cheating or whatever just based on true love around 6 people.
The characters. Oh god. I adored all the characters personally even Jonathan Hale (ikr) Their qualities and characteristics made them all unique. Their children. But especially the troubles and all of that they went through. Together. They all pushed each other out of the dark and was always always there for each other. You may say this all started with Lily and Lo but personally I didn’t like their first book and actually left it half way read. I judged them way too quickly and that was impulsive. My love for all of them has grown but LilLo definitely. You may say that Daisy Ryke Rose and Connor all pushed and helped Lily and Lo but no. They all did. Together. Without Lily and Lo they wouldn’t be where they are and living their lives. They wouldn’t have fallen in love and had their children. Love and Family as well as Troubles were the reasons i adored this series. They learnt from their past and grew so much. They may not always get over and get it done but that was what made them human and all of it realistic. Some things just stick with us. We are what we are.
Each of their relationships I adored.
Each of their troubles I learnt.
Each character I loved.
Each story I read.
I got addicted. The quotes and all.
The couples. Ugh.
Fucking. addicting.

This isn't the type of book that I normally read but it sounded interesting so I decided to try it out. Its a messed up story and hard to read at times but you do keep cheering Lo and Lilly on. The characters are somewhat relatable and that's what helps connect the reader to them. They're very human and flawed characters, they have a weird relationship with their siblings, aren't really close to their parents, and I liked them because of their flaws. Its one of those stories that shows how messed up life can be and still make it work though. Also they don't do a complete turn around and go deeply religious or wind up in jail and I like that those choices were made as those two tropes usually find there way into similar stories to this one. They also can't seem to catch a break and I hated that for them, there should have been a way to wind down the attention as I highly doubt the press's attention span is so long lasting. It's going to be a story I'm going to remember for a while and I might look into what other books the authors have written.

It’s was a journey with these characters.

I have followed these characters through a lot. I just finished this series and have read two of the books from the Calloway sisters. I have read Willow and Garrisons duet and all the books currently out with their children. I have enjoyed this series and now understand more about these characters because I actually started with Maximoff and Farrows books first. I had times when I felt like they should just grow up and become upstanding adults, but some people just have to take a different journey.

Will update as/when I finish all book in the Box
Finished Addicted to You (7/12/21) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I don't know what kept my from reading this ages ago, but I finally broke the seal on The Addicted series. Lily and Lo have been friends forever, but they've been faking a relationship for years to hide both of their crippling addictions. At times I was a little sceptical on Lily's motivation, but I think at the end I get it. I think this series will consume me if I let it. I'm really excited to see the sisters and their stories. But I see a lot of angst in my future.

As a whole, I would rate the series a 4/5 because the beginning of it was so slow that I struggled to continue, but everything was better after Ricochet.

These characters are so precious to me and I only want the best things for them. I enjoyed reading about their addiction and recovery journey, and how they strive to be better people for their family and friends. It's really rare to have characters and romantic relationships in books that flow so naturally and are uniquely their own—Krista and Becca Ritchie have succeeded in doing just that.

#LiLo are alive! I ship them forever!

I truly have no words right now to describe how much I love these books, this world and these characters. I still have 3 more before the end of this series but I’m sobbing because I just love them so much and I’m not ready to walk away from them! If you love flawed characters (that are still so very loveable), witty banter, and found family — this is the series for you. Lo, Lily, Rose, Connor, Ryke and Daisy have my heart forever and ever. I already know it won’t be long before I revisit them all ❤️

First book was really good

However the rest of the box set was a little bit of hard work, and I did struggle to get in to them as much as I had with book 1. They didn't make me want to keep reading and reading , it was definitely easier to put the book down each day. Such a shame, as I've enjoyed other books of theirs.

I liked the overall books. Couldn't finish the last two books of the Calloway sisters series. Skipped some parts because they felt a bit dragged but it was overall a good series! Looking forward to start reading again.

I will never get over the core six. Lily and Lo? Check! Ryke and Daisy? Check! Rose and Connor? Check!

Such a cute story, yet interesting story about addiction, relationships, and sticking by the ones who mean the most, plus a little romance thrown in there. 😍

I really liked the first book and even the second but I really had to push threw the last three. I was so bored at times and felt like nothing was happening. Truthfully, it was similar to reading episodes of the Kardashians.

This series is so good! The lifelong love of Lilly and Lo is amazing! The ending was such a happily ever after! They are not perfect but they’re stronger than they know and their love for each other keeps them going. This is a refreshing read. I loved it!
