The stories in Chasing Eleven are intriguing and never dull. Readers with a taste for different genres have a pretty good shot at being pleased and probably more than once or even twice. Dan Kalin used much gallows humor and the plot twists seem to generally work and make the reader want to continue to see where the story might be going. Kalin uses both straight description and some elements of the poetic description style and they seem to work. The stories are clever and the reader needs to keep an open mind for these strange signals. Readers who love the single-author short story collection will likely enjoy this work. Some of the stories are a bit out there and I would recommend an adult audience for Kalin's book. As a matter of fact, I would even suggest that readers enjoy this book during the evening or nighttime hours. This is no story for the breakfast table. It's for after hours which is when most good times and mischief happen.
