Who knows the heartache of having a home split apart? What about someone to understand the loss of a child . . . or the misery of a teenager on drugs . . . or a failure in school . . . or the loss of a business? God knows you are hurting and wants to be your Comforter.

This book came in the mail to me today from my dear aunt. I'm not a stranger to loss, pain or suffering - I lost a child to miscarriage in 2009, lost my amazing grandmother to cancer in 2011, lost my beautiful mother to stroke in 2013, and just yesterday suffered through another painful miscarriage. This little book helped me lean on God during yet another season of painful loss.
This is different than what I expected. Initially my emotions wanted to be coddled in comfort, but that is not the comfort I found in this book. The comfort I found is that through fire and flames, strength is found. I found comfort in the pursuit of God through peaceful times because the hard times will inevitably come and it may never be good again. Happiness and easy living are not promised, in fact, they may never arrive, but take joy in knowing that your testimony strengthens you and puts you in a position to help and minister to others. This pain is only temporary in this blip of a life. Take courage, brothers and sisters.
This is a wonderful little book, quickly and easily read, but with great encouragement for those who hurt. While there isn't a definitive answer as to why we suffer, this book does offer some reasons that might help those who are hurting get through their difficulties with more grace.
This book was sent to my Dad after Mom passed away ... my sister found it and passed it along to me. It is very good, and very helpful.
