She’s his addiction. He’s her escape.

Logan Hartson is gorgeous, successful, and has a smile that’ll knock a woman off her feet. And from the moment Courtney Roberts meets him on a dirt road, the chemistry sizzles between them.

Everything about them is wrong. He’s city, she’s country.

He owns expensive restaurants. She runs a small farm.

None of that matters when they’re tangled together in her bed, his body promising things her heart shouldn’t want.

Until people start to talk, and things get rough, and after one last, sweet night together they agree to part.

She never thought she’d see him again. But nature has other plans. The serious kind.

Now she just has to tell him the truth.

So how do you tell somebody their life will never be the same again?

She takes a deep breath, her wide eyes meeting his. “Logan, I’m pregnant.”

Favorite Quotes:

She’d been called Poor Courtney so many times she wondered if it was her new name.

“The downsides of small town living.” Lainey sighed. “If the gossip doesn’t kill you, waiting for it will.”

Courtney Roberts is having a baby, even though her husband’s cold in the ground. It’s like an early Christmas gift for the town gossips.

My Review:

I am infatuated with this series of handsome, swoon-worthy, and successful brothers; they have all been my favorite brand of catnip. Each of the three installments could easily standalone yet they have been so much fun I advise anyone who hasn’t read them to start at the beginning. The storylines and writing style are engaging, witty, amusing, well-conceived, and expertly paced. There are two more endearing siblings to go in this quirky small-town family, although maybe if we beg the author enough she could be bribed to extend the series to in-laws, friends, and friends of friends.

This is a cute story of finding love again and learning to forgive yourself. Court and Logan are so good together even though they are total opposites. I rooted for Logan the whole time while there were moments when I thought Court was being unreasonable and a bit selfish.

As always with a Carrie Elks book this was unputdownable !!
I have loved the Heartbreak Brothers series so far, but actually think this has been my favourite with the to'ing and fro'ing, will they won't they, knowing as the reader how they both felt I wanted to scream into the pages at them !
Logan is just perfect.. no shirking his responsibilities for this man!! And the chemistry between these two is off the charts.
Courtney is just the sweetest and has been through so much and is trying her hardest to protect her heart, whilst also trying not to hurt the family she has made her own.
However back to front this story is you've got to love it when two souls destined to be together make it through the storm.
Can't wait for Cam's story now, I know im going to be broken !!

New to me

I really want to go into a 5 page detail of why I disliked this read but they all summon up to the heroine. Really LOVED the hero and his family. I am going to read the next the hero's twin brother because I pray to God the heroine won't be like this one.

Reading a Carrie Elks book always feels like an afternoon spent catching up with old friends! This book is full of endearing characters that draw you in and make you care about them. I love the small town coziness of this series and how genuine the relationship with the two main characters in this book feels. It’s beautifully written and I couldn’t put it down. Now I’m longing for Cam’s story!

Carrie Elks is such a wonderful storyteller and I always look forward to the release of her new novels. A Better Man, the third book in the Heartbreak Brothers series, did not disappoint. I loved it!

A chance meeting on a dirt road between country farm girl Courtney Roberts, and successful city restaurateur Logan Hartson, whilst visiting his home town of Hartson’s Creek, leads to an instant attraction, some sizzling hot chemistry, secret encounters and ... an unexpected surprise!

A Better Man is an emotional, heartwarming story about family, love, passion and selflessness. One of my top 5 reads this year and one which I highly recommend.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Their Wonderful Surprise -
Logan and Courtney may have been from two different tax brackets, but it was evident from their first meeting, that they needed each other to be able to heal and live a fulfilling life. Their chemistry was off-the-charts sizzling hot, but their journey to a happily ever after was filled with bumps and bruises, as well as realising they had to let go of their baggage to be happy.

The story had everything you could think of to make it a bestseller, which meant I was unable to put it down once I started reading it. I highly recommend you make this book one of your next weekend reads.

This was a good read. Courtney and Logan meet when her hen runs out into his vehicle. They sleep together and then she ends up pregnant. This causes some issues with people. Thankfully in the end everything works out for the two of them and they get their happy ending.

This is a sweet romance with lots of will they won't they moments that kept my attention throughout. think this may be my favourite so far, I loved these two and their back to front relationship. This is a lovely, well-written story which I couldn't put down.

I really enjoyed this third book in the Heartbreak Brothers series, Logan Hartson is the big restauranter in Boston and only gets back to visit his family in Hartson’s Creek. His work is his life and his love. Courtney Roberts lives and works on her in-law's farm, she is a widow and her farm is her life now and she loves it. They are perfectly happy till fate, or at least a feisty chicken, intervene. These two are the perfect foil for each other and I really liked them both.

I loved catching up with the lives of the other Heartbreak Brothers too and although these can all be read as standalone stories you will definitely want to read all the books and meet all the brothers! I can't wait for the next one.

Another 5 star read from the amazing Carrie Elks. I love all the Hartson characters & Logan won't disappoint.

This is a true love story, one that will have you gripped & hold your heart.

A chance encounter throws Logan & Courtney together, quite literally, with the help of Hestor 😂😂

Logan is unable to play professional football after sustaining an injury to his knee. He is hard on himself, always striving for perfection.
He has a successful career in Boston but his heart belong in Hartson Creek............

Book three Hartson Creek
Logan Hartson and Courtney Roberts are both totally different, a city man and a country girl and they both just click.
Been so compatible would this romance last?
Then Courtney drops a big bombshell to Logan where will this leave them, will it bring them closer together, they both have a journey ahead that will break your heart, will it be a bright future ahead.
this book will make your heart spin, a magical love story to hold in your heart right up to the end.
I have loved reading all these books in the series and cannot wait for book four.

This series has been so great! Logan and Courtney's story was thoroughly enjoyable! It was a little odd how Carl just dropped out of the storyline. Looking forward to Cam's story next! I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

I'm loving on Carrie Elk's small town romance series about the Heartbreak brothers of Hartson's Creek. Named after the Hartson family, each of the brothers have left Hartson's Creek and with each subsequent story we learn more about the family on the whole. In the case of A Better Man, the focus is on restauranteur and now resident of Boston, Logan Hartson. A Better Man also features local widow Courtney, a farm girl, who is about to have her entire world shaken up.

Once again there's much to love about the coupling of Logan and a Courtney. Their connection is one of insta-attraction and LOTS of chemistry.

"She’d never met anybody who made her feel so calm, yet so on edge at the same time."

This is the kind where pheromones are strong and they can't seem to stay away from each other. Because of that, I won't call this a slow burn. It will take them conquering a few obstacles before they can let go and let love. But they do start out in secrecy (which lend are air of uber sexy times) . But because this is Hartson's Creek, Courtney must navigate singledom and widowhood with close proximity to her deceased husbands' parents. But Courtney's true albatross is her brother-in-law who clearly has designs on her.

For Courtney and Logan, things are further complicated by Logan's home address and business responsibilities. But fate seems to be pushing these two together as there is an "ooopsie" moment that changes it all. It's so fun to see these seemingly opposites attract work through the obstacles that could keep easily keep them apart.

As I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series when Cam, Logan's twin, gets his love reckoning. 4. 5 Stars and recommendation

In Book 3 of Carrie Elks' The Heartbreak Brothers series, we return to the beautiful small town of Hartson's Creek, Virginia, for Logan's story. A highly successful restauranteur, Logan Hartson has been living in Boston for years, close by to his twin brother Cam who plays for Boston's NFL team. Courtney Roberts is two-years widowed, still living in a cottage and working on the farm of her in-laws in Hartson's Creek. Logan and Courtney's meet-cute is hilarious and steamy thanks to the interference of two of Courtney's hens, and from there begins what was supposed to be just a casual relationship. But when Courtney becomes pregnant, everything changes.

This book is full of wonderful characters - Logan and Courtney are both so well-developed and three-dimensional, and each grow in leaps and bounds between the first page and the last. The supporting cast is wonderful, especially the Hartson siblings (I'm in love with Cam and cannot wait for his story!) and Lainey. The chemistry between Logan and Courtney is sizzling from the very beginning.

This is an incredibly well-written, wonderful novel full of passion, romance and family, and I cannot recommend it enough!

I really enjoyed reading A Better Man by Carrie Elks because this was such a great book about Courtney and Logan. Courtney had gone through some pretty tough things in her life. She was trying to survive. Logan was trying to get his restaurant up and running. The two of them were like night and day. But for them, it was like love at first sight. They had a very steamy encounter that resulted in her becoming pregnant. She lives in a very small town and soon became the talk of the town. I wondered if their relationship would work with them being in different states. She had obligations as did he. I really wasn't a big fan of Carl (her deceased husband's brother). I had hoped that Logan and Courtney would end up together and would come to a compromise. This story had me on the edge of my seat at times because I didn't know what was going to happen next. It was a great story about second chances and I highly recommend reading it.

First my usual points:
- I do not do spoilers unless warned.
- Read the summary above; it will tell you what the book is about. I will not reiterate.
- This is a standalone but is part of a series and other characters, come and go throughout the story. As I haven't read any other books in the series, I'm going to assume it would be best enjoyed reading all books in order.
- No errors that I caught as far as editing.
- This author was a first for me. I will be looking for others by her.

This was a great opposites attract story with slightly flawed characters whose only problems were not getting out of their own way to be together. It was a wonderful story of moving on, compromise and finding that what they thought they were happy with wasn't really making them happy. Steamy but not over the top as we felt the attraction between them, not shown or told, which I feel is so much more difficult for an author to do. I can't say much more without giving the entire story away but from page 1, I was hooked. The story and characters flowed well and naturally, leaving the reader content at the end but ready for the next brother's story...

After the death of her husband Courtney has focused on being there to give her in-laws the support they need which includes living and working on the farm they own. A chance encounter due to a matchmaker you would never expect brings Logan into her life.

When Logan’s dreams of playing football came to a premature end he has directed all his energy towards ensuring his restaurant business is a success. He isn’t looking for love or a relationship but when he and Courtney realize that one night is not enough and a fling begins. Concern over the opinions of others causes her to end their alliance but when two are about to become three it becomes a game changer.

This is a story about two very different people living very different lives who must overcome some obstacles to realize that the only thing that truly matters is being happy together.

It’s difficult when your close family is actually your dead husband’s Mum, Dad and brother, and you decide to move on with your life. Even more difficult when you fall for one of the brothers who the town where you live is named after, and he also lives in the city and you’re just a farm girl. Hester, Courtney’s wayward hen sets Courtney on a collision course with Logan Hartson when she escapes from her coop one day. They say the path to true love doesn’t run smooth, and this is definitely the case for Courtney and Logan. This is book three in the series, and I’m loving getting to know the Hartson family. I look forward to reading Cam’s story in early 2021. If you haven’t read any of the books yet they all work as stand-alone’s but I can guarantee once you’ve read one you’ll be hooked and wanting more.

This is the third book in the series and it focuses on Logan's story. Logan is your typical city guy and Courtney is your typical country girl, both flawed in their own ways but can opposites attract! Well you will have to read on to find out but honestly the push and pull, will they, won't they drove me insane but it also kept me reading and I was totally invested in their story. The chemistry between these two was quite steamy but it was not over done and I think you have to be quite a skilled writer to do that! Whenever I read a Carrie Elks book it's like revisiting a group of old friends. You know you're going to get a good story, little angst and feel good once you've finished reading it and if you love that small town romance vibe then I think you will really love this series.

I loved this book. Courtney was a hometown girl at heart and Logan had been a city boy for quite a while.. When they met due to Hester running in front of his car. Hester is a riot. She had so much character. It started out as friends with benefits and grew slowly. Both were changing in what they wanted. It was harder for Logan, but he wanted Courtney and she was worth the change. I loved most of the characters. Her former in-laws were sweet people and she would always love them. Carl was another story. He will have a harder time accepting her new life.
Great story and I highly recommend

There is something so special about a Carrie Elks story. Every time I finish one of her books I always feel like I have just spent some time with old friends.
Logan and Courtney come from two completely different worlds. But after their first chance meeting they both knew there was something special there that needed to be pursued. What follows is a story that I know I will definitely be reading again.
Small town romances are always a must read for me and I would be hard pressed to find any better than the Heartbreak Brothers series. Cannot wait to get my hands on Cam’s story next.

Logan and Courtney. The Boston restaurant owner and city boy who meets and Courtney, a farm girl, after her hens run into the road. She lives in his home town in Virginia. Hot and heavy attraction leading to pregnancy. How will they manage living in two states, two different life styles, two opposing lifestyles. But they both have the baby.

Oh my god I'm finally finished.

This has been stuck at 50% for over a month. I just couldn't push through it.

This author did a very good job at the situation sounding impossible and bleak and such I just didn't want to read it. And in the end the ending was pretty good. Its a romance they'll always end up happy but I have to get there you know!?

I considered dnf for this but glad I didn't.

This story had me hooked from the beginning. The first meeting between Logan and Courtney was priceless, and the chemistry between them is off the chart. While neither of them are looking for a long-term relationship, things change when she becomes pregnant. Logan lets Courtney know he intends to be a part of the child's life, but she wonders how that will work since they live in different cities and Logan is busy with his restaurant business.

There are some growing pains as they both try to adjust to the pregnancy. I think I fell a little in love with Logan as we learned more of the facets of his character, and how attentive he was to Courtney.
