Llewellyn George started his publishing company in Portland, Oregon in 1901, concentrating Astrological books and annuals. In 1961, Carl L. Weschcke of St. Paul, Minnesota purchased the company and relocated it to the Midwest.
Llewellyn is the world’s oldest and largest independent publisher of books for body, mind, and spirit.
This is a lovely little book. My favorite sections were the Deep Time Walk, Deep into the Earth, the Despacho, Magical Waters for Power and Healing, Ritual Madness, the Color Correspondences, A Crow Spell, and A New Path coloring ritual, all of which I marked so I can perform them throughout the year. I also liked the sacred chocolate essay which inspired me to stop buying my regular coffee and switch to sustainable coffee. My very favorite part of the book is the essay about Akhilandeshwari (The Goddess Never Not Broken). I’d never heard of or worked with this goddess before. The essay moved me to tears and the end made me want to cheer and drive around listening to Alanis Morrissette again. 3 cheers to Mickie Mueller for the thought provoking and heart warming essay. I think I will revisit it when I need it.
Most likely no one will ever see this because this book is now out of date. I started reading it late (in 2023) and read about 10 minutes a day until finishing in 2024. It is a shame it's time has passed because there are some really good chapters in this book. The authors were great at what they do and I hope they were able to re-home much of their work in more "evergreen" publications.
I have been reading Llewellyn's Magical Almancs for the past 30 years. I enjoy most of the article in the almanac & there are some that I don't really do it for me. I did appreciate the Color Correspondences section in this almanac. I believe this new. I don't remember it being the almanac before. I think its really cool how they've included introspective spells you can do as you color the pictures.
I’ve been getting these for years and I will continue to do so. I honestly buy it for all of the articles. It features multiple authors and topics I’m interested in, this year’s edition is no different. I have a few ideas to still do myself and was happy to see a few I’ve done already. Can’t wait to read the one for next year!
