I've always been the odd one in my Bible belt family. I love stories about witches and fairies. I love making up some odd herbal remedies. So now as I'm getting older I'm embracing who I am. And trying to be more Peace and let go.
For the most part.
This book is really good. It teaches you how to clear your mind for just a bit so that the days stresses don't take over. And she explains the process very well. Then she adds in some of my favorite things...crystals (Ignore that plant that my husband has a bet on how long it will take me to kill...it's looking better)
How to Meditate with Crystals by Jolie DeMarco Simple Ways to Change Your Life
Novice or not, this book will be of interest to those who meditate, are thinking of taking up the practice, like crystals and might consider using crystals to enhance their meditation if/when they incorporate it into their lives.
What I liked: * The presentation/writing was easy to understand and follow. * The discussion of frequency explained something I have heard often but never had a decent definition of. * The way the chapters were organized * The five methods of meditating – one doesn’t have to just sit and try to empty their mind * The list of items that can be used to enhance meditation * That there is something in the book for everyone * That the crystals mentioned include some that are familiar and also some that I have not heard of before. * That the author gives her personal experience and backstory in regard to crystals and meditation * Concrete easy to use ideas for meditation are used including but not limited to color, mandalas, mala/prayer beads, geometric shapes and more * That the crystals were organized alphabetically * That there were 33 crystals AND 33 meditation practices provided * That cleansing of crystals and how to do it was included * That the enthusiasm of the author was felt in the words she used…her energy and frequency were high as she wrote this book.
What I didn’t like: * Perhaps that not all the crystals I was thinking of were mentioned * That it would be expensive to acquire all of the crystals to use in these meditations * Knowing that no matter how much some may meditate they may never have the experience of speaking to the higher powers the author has been in contact with.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Llewellyn Publications for the ARC – This is my honest review.
I've always loved crystals and been drawn to them for use in magic, but I hadn't really used them in meditation. Well, not traditionally. It's easy to get lost in gazing and find yourself meditating as you stare into a beautiful crystal.
The information here is multi layered. It is a wonderful introduction into meditation, with several aspects presented. It also is a more in-depth look into some crystals that are suited to aid in meditation. I found the information very useful and the crystals picked were sound choices. It has a lot more information than the average crystal book and is laid out in easy to followed sections.
The actual meditations are explained very well and I loved the ideas for types of meditations in the section that has 33 meditation types. I need the releasing stress one in my life for sure. I'm also going to try one with a mandala.
So many wonderful ideas. This will be a great addition to any library for crystals or meditation.
[review of Advance Readers Copy] This book combines a basic, beginners guide to meditation with a solid introduction to crystals. The author does a good job explaining energy and frequencies--topics that many meditation resources skip over. She also stresses the importance of intent in manifestations--again, not the usual focus of most meditation guides. This book will find a ready audience among those who already use crystals for other practices.
I just adored this author’s writing style. Some authors really understand how to write conversation style and Jolie DeMarco does this very well. How to Meditate with Crystals is broken into three parts; Meditation Made Easy, Using Crystals During Meditation, and Meditation Practice. Truth be told, I’m a certified meditation teacher. I had to fight my ego that wanted to skip over the intro to meditation and go right to part three. I’m very glad I read this book in its entirety as it was a good reinforcement on my own beliefs and introduced a few new concepts for me.
This author does a fantastic job in part one breaking down why meditation is important and how meditation can help raise your vibration. Then she explains different styles of meditations with examples of when to use them. The author goes over meditation spirit guides and how to use everyday objects for meditation, then she gets into using crystals to mediate.
Part two of this book gets into detail of what crystals to use for what purpose. The author goes into detail of 33 of her favorite crystals for meditation. For those 33 the author describes the crystals, explains the crystal’s origin, the best meditation purpose, the chakras it’s associated with, it’s and physical, emotional, mental and spiritual connections. This part also goes into lists of crystals to use for certain situations, like physical healing.
Part three is why I chose to review this book. Jolie DeMarco does what she does best in this chapter and I’m sure this is what makes her a much sought after metaphysical guide. The author breaks down and explains how exactly to meditate for certain goals. In this section, she explains the best crystals and gives clear guidance on how to open and close the meditation and what to focus on. This is where I gleaned the most information.
Although I enjoyed reading this book and think it has some great information, I had to knock off a star for a few reasons. The meditation methods she described aren’t very practical unless you write out a script, record yourself reading it, then play it back for your meditation. There are lengthy meditation suggestions for reaching goals and it would be quite difficult to be a in a meditative state and remember the entire script. No matter how wonderful these suggestions are, the reader has to chose to use them as mere suggestions, or record them and hope they give themselves enough time during the recording to reach visualization goals. Like I said, I’m a meditation teacher, timing takes a bit of practice and sometimes trial and error.
These meditations she uses are not the only way to accomplish said goals. I didn’t see much explanation of that. The part called “closing and gratitude” definitely made the meditations feel like some sort of prayer. She does explain early in the book that she feels she is being “guided” to write this or explain in detail about this detail for the person reading this book, i.e. the reader (whoever that may be). It did feel like the author was addressing me directly with her conversation style writing so maybe that was the author accomplishing a goal.
Even though I found some things troublesome, I still this there is a lot more good than bad. I’d like to have this for my shelf as I have no problem recording scripts to follow for meditation. For those that do, you will probably still find the information presented in this book will aid you in learning to meditate with crystals.
I just finished How to Meditate with Crystals: Simple Ways to Change Your Life by Jolie DeMarco, and it felt like such a natural extension of the work I already do in my spiritual practice.
What I appreciated most is that this isn’t fluff. It’s structured, intentional, and practical. The meditations are clear without being rigid, and each crystal pairing feels purposeful rather than random. As someone who works intuitively with tarot and energy, I loved how this book bridges mindfulness with crystal work in a way that feels grounded and accessible, not performative or overly mystical for the sake of aesthetics.
The 33 guided meditations make it easy to either follow along as written or adapt them to your own flow. I found myself naturally weaving some of these into my existing rituals, especially the chakra and intention-based practices. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t just sit pretty on a shelf; you actually use it.
I also appreciated that it empowers the reader to trust their own intuition. Crystals aren’t presented as magic solutions, but as energetic tools that help focus awareness and deepen meditation. That distinction matters.
For anyone wanting to deepen their spiritual routine, whether you’re new to crystals or already incorporating them into tarot, manifestation, or healing work, this is a beautiful resource. Simple, clear, and genuinely supportive.
This is definitely one I’ll return to and integrate into client sessions and personal practice.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
There’s a lot of enthusiasm from the author, so I’m giving 3 stars based on her positivity. I liked her discussion on not just jumping into meditation, but first warming up with a release of negative thinking and ending with gratitude. It reminds me of how we get so much more out of our physical workouts when we remember to adequately warm up and cool down rather than jump right in. However, much of the rest of the book was scattered and unfocused. There’s just too many meditations and some were described in a lot of detail and others were glossed over. My main complaint is that the book title implies we are going to learn about crystals. The symbology of certain crystals are described and there’s even pictures of them. But when the meditations are described, the purpose of the crystals don’t always tie to the purpose of the meditation and then there’s lots of other crystals mentioned in the meditations that were not discussed in the stone section.
The beginning of the book outlines why you should meditate and what it can do. Part 1 explains the basics and benefits of meditation and explains vibration and frequency. The explanation on how meditation can be affected by your senses was really helpful! It was not something I had really thought about before but see how it can have a big impact on your ability to successfully meditate at a particular time. My favorite section is the information on the individual crystals where it lists where the crystal is found, which chakra it correlates to, best meditation purpose along with the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits. The specific crystal/meditation combinations are also amazing! Just reading this book I felt positive vibes and energy emanating! Would definitely recommend it.
This book teaches so much more than the title indicates.
It teaches meditation, and when I say this, I mean it really teaches meditation. We don't get a "Close your eyes and clear your mind" description - we get a breakdown of several different types of meditations based on both physical and mental activity levels.
It teaches about chakras, using energy and frequencies. It teaches correspondences and other information for almost three dozen types of crystals/stone, and THEN it teaches you 33 different meditations to use with them.
An excellent book for anyone looking to add either meditation or crystal work into their workings, and let's face it, these really should be staples in everyone's practice.
Crystals and Meditation is game changing for me. I’ve meditated for years now. I’ve own crystals for a long time, but I’ve never really explored using them together in this way. Sure, I’ve had crystals in my meditation area, but this book opens a whole new focus for me with meditation.
I really like how the author describe meditation, because it is truly different for everyone and it IS hard to clear your mind when you first start. The author takes you through how to mediate and how crystals can enhance these sessions. Oh my goodness, I am off to get my crystals ready for cleansing and will be using them with my next session.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for a copy of this ARC in return for an honest review.
Yet another great tool I can use for mediation and crystal work. Although probably geared more towards someone who is still learning about crystals and mediation it is still a very useful tool that can be used by all. It includes easy to understand information and explanations on why crystals to use and how to use them. A great resource for everyone wanting more from their mediation and crystals.
I realize that many people have a hard time with meditation, thinking it is only one way to practice it. In this Book You learn 5 methods from active( like walking mediations) and inactive ( like going out of your body) to slightly awake connecting to loved ones or my Angel guides! Step by step instructions and it was so easy, the explanations of HOW To are super understandable and click! MuST READ and a GREAT GIFT for others.
I expected this to be a typical how to do a clear and quiet mind meditation and how/when to use specific crystals. I am very pleased to be very wrong. Many different types of meditations are covered. A variety of crystals are covered in detail. Energy and auras are discussed, vibrations and Chakras as well. There is a lot of great information stuffed into this book!
This is an excellent introductory book if you haven’t done meditation or crystal work before. It has everything to get you started and explains well with pictures and diagrams! There is great depth without being overwhelming. I actually learned so much more about meditation! Excellent guide to have around! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
This book does a great job explaining the basics of meditation and crystal use. There is also a breakdown of thirty plus crystals and how to combine them with your meditation sessions. The sessions are broken down by achieving balance, self awareness and even manifestation and healing. This is a good place for someone interested in meditation and crystals to start off with.
This was a great resource for anyone who is looking to create a meaningful practice to bring about self-peace and happiness. I think having a guided meditation playlist would have been a perfect pairing with this book.
Get meditations for 33 crystals. And get pages at the end for notes which is cool. Decent for those who want a variety of meditations to expand in different ways.
