What do you do when the witness to your one-night stand turns out to be your potential boss?
There are consequences when you stop following the rule book.
Rule #1: Don't celebrate your new job before you have it. Especially not by having a one-night stand with a star quarterback.
Rule #2: Don't sneak out of said star quarterback’s bedroom the next morning. You don’t know who you might run into in his kitchen.
Rule #3: Don’t lie to your potential boss. Definitely don’t tell her the quarterback is your boyfriend.
Most important rule of them all—don’t fall in love with your fake boyfriend.
Not by the Playbook is a sexy 30,000 Romantic Comedy with no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA. It is the first book in the Wrong Place, Right Time series.

She is a passionate New Yorker who left her Happy For Now job in tech to pursue her Happily Ever After as a writer. When she’s not writing or reading, she’s gallivanting the world.
I did request this book from Booksirens as the cover had attracted me and when it comes to fake relationships, normally they are hit/misses and I do on the odd occasion enjoy them along with the odd sports romance. I have to say Not by the Playbook by Ivy Hunt surprised me with how good it was. Something that I had missed as most romances seems to be all about sex these days and that element and it loses the human connection and relationship side of things. I loved the chemistry that this pair had and then having the bonus of the sister staying playing the buffer in the relationship was a great addition. In Not by the Playbook, our main female lead has just scored an interview and been shortlisted for her dream job and so Rebecca and her friends go out to celebrate. Rebecca ends up having a one-night stand with a football player Logan. When she goes to leave, who does she see - but her potential new boss who turns out to be Logan's older judgemental sister. Rebecca doesn't want her new boss to think she is a floozy, so on the spot, she and Logan enter into a fake relationship. Of course, though when she does get the job and their relationship comes to an end - have real feelings be developed? I also loved the ending of this book as it had a different twist to it than the majority of other fake romances as the character Rebecca was written with a strong integrity compass. If you love the trope of football romances and fake relationships, then check out Ivy Hunt's "Not by The Playbook" today.
OMG, this book was so much fun to read! The author truly has a snarky gift with words and I loved every bit of it. So many hilarious highlights!
Logan and Rebecca have a steamy one-night-stand, but just as she's sneaking out the next morning, she runs into Jenna, the woman she just interviewed with the previous day, who turns out to be Logan's sister. Now Becs is wordlessly begging Logan to pretend she's not just another one of his flakey jersey bunnies, and Logan finds himself warming to the idea of Jenna thinking he's raising his dating standards. But how long can they keep up the ruse?
I love the chemistry between Logan and Rebecca, and the gradual growth of their more tender feelings was understated and realistic. I could feel their hearts breaking as each one was struggling to interpret both their own changing feelings and the possibility of the other's feelings changing as well.
Logan's relationship with Jenna was also brilliantly handled, and his thoughts toward her provided some of the best lines I've ever read in a rom-com. These siblings are like oil and water, continually provoking each other, but there's clearly a deep underlying foundation of love and respect that steers them through.
The HEA was sweet and satisfying, and I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in this delightful series.
I am excited to read another book from this author. They did a phenomenal job bringing the characters to life. I would like to recommend that Jake ends up with Jenna in the next story.
Fantastic short read from this author! First book I have read by Ivy and loved it. Can’t wait to start the next year be :-) Great book & highly recommended

Exactly what I am looking for in a Novella. Low angst HEA with a cohesive story and heart. This is my first Ivy Hunt and it certainly won’t be my last!
I absolutely love when I discover a new to me author and fall head over kindle for their book. Ivy Hunt is one such author and Not By The Playbook is that book! This book is a sexy fake relationship, sports romance that will have you reading with a smile on your face. Rebecca and Logan are on fire and their one night stand turns into an incredibly satisfying happily ever. I’m happy to say that I read this book in one sitting and am looking forward to reading more by this author. TBR and Enjoy!

An enjoyable (relatively short) read with a fun storyline.
Rebecca is out celebrating acing the interview for her job of a lifetime when she bumps into Logan at a bar. They end up spending the night together and when she tries to leave the next morning bumps into Logan’s sister, the woman who interviewed her the previous day. After agreeing to play fake relationship to stop his sister thinking she’s “that” type of girl and to get her off Logan’s back, they start to develop feelings but of courses don’t talk about it....
A good quick read with a fun pacy storyline

I took a shot at this book and wow, was I in for a treat! It was my first book by Ivy and I can’t wait to read the next! Logan and Rebecca are such a sweet couple, although unconventional. It all started as a one night stand, to something fake, to something real... Some scenes with his sister Jenna were hilarious! I loved how he started caring for Rebecca along the way. A really nice read!

ONS with a famous QB. Check. Meeting his sister the next morning; the one who interviewed you for a new job. Um... Check...?
Fun little novella. Could have done without his dickhead behaviour late in the story, but he's a walking cliché so I'll get passed it. Overall I loved them! Will definitely be checking out book 2 when it drops.
What an energetic, sassy, and adorable quick read! To say I’m completely satisfied with this read is an understatement because I am overflowing with joy! And, on top of that, football was included!
Logan and Rebecca’s match was never supposed to be, especially after their one night of passion. Except, parting ways just wasn’t in the cards for these two. Logan has never had anything more than a one night stand while Becca is determined not to move back to her hometown. She is trying to land her dream job, only issue is, her one night stands sister was who interviewed her the day before. When she’s attempting to leave, his sister finds her during her walk of shame and now she is in a fake relationship.
The laughter throughout this, along with the passion and desire, will leave you more than satisfied. Ivy has done an amazing job of packing so much excitement into such a great short story, you won’t feel rushed but anxious for the next page.
Rebecca/Becs has just finished an interview for a new job and she is very confident she will get e job and she goes out with her girlfriends to celebrate. She meets Logan, the handsome star quarterback for the NFL team, and after a night of drinking she wakes up the next morning in his bed. As she is sneaking out of his apartment his sister walks in, the girl who interviewed her for the job, and to save face and not appear as a one night stand, she tells her that she and Logan are dating. Logan is attracted to her and agrees to pretend she is his girlfriend and she will stay at his place. They end up spending a lot of time together with his family and at his game. Will Becs leave Logan if she gets the job? Will their pretend relationship become more permanent?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story of a one night stand that develops into more. The author did a great job of showing how their feelings grew as they were together and got to know each other better. I loved Becs and grew to really love Logan and the epilogue was a great conclusion to their story.

This is book one in the Wrong Place, Right Time series. I enjoyed this book. It’s a hot fake relationship story. I can understand why Rebecca ended up in the whole mess she did. Jenna was very judgmental when she ran into Rebecca at Logan’s place and Rebecca was hoping to get the job at her company. What’s a girl to do when caught by her hopefully soon to be boss after a hot, wild night with too much alcohol and a hot NFL quarterback who just happens to be said bosses’ brother. Lie, lie, lie. Logan is curious so he goes along with the lie. Rebecca is the only woman he seems to want to take back to his bed a second time. He doesn’t do repeats and now he’s wanting to keep her around. She’s different then the women he normally picks up. Jenna is skeptical of their relationship so to really sell the relationship Logan suggests that Rebecca stay at his place, that’s what a girlfriend would do after all, but the fake relationship starts to feel real to both of them. Will they turn their fake relationship into a real one?

The first book I have read by Ivy Hunt scores a major touchdown. Not by the Playbook kicks off the new Wrong Place, Right Time series with this fake relationship football romance. Rebecca "Becs" Gerone meets NFL quarterback Logan Barnes one night at a bar and ends up back at his place in his bed. Trying to sneak out on her one-night stand the next morning, she runs into his sister in the kitchen, who also happens to be her potential new boss. Afraid of the impression she has made, she lies and says she is Logan's girlfriend - and gets him to go along with it. Becs and Logan have serious chemistry; while they both acknowledge it from the beginning, neither believe the other sees them as a potential real match. It is entertaining - and swoony - to watch self-professed womanizer Logan realize that he no longer wants his girlfriend to be of the fake variety.
I love discovering authors I have not read before. I love it even more when they kill it writing one of my favourite tropes.

This is my first book by the author and I can't wait for more. Absolutely fell in love with Logan and Becs from the word go. Really well written characters that are easy to care about very quickly and a great story (that's also well written so everything flows so well). I ended up really rooting for them and was so glad they got their HEA. The book takes place over a fairly short time period but it never feels short or rushed. The fact they end up in a fake relationship makes it somehow easier that things are moving so fast. When do we get Connor's story? I need more...

I really enjoy fake boyfriend stories. This one had a particularly interesting twist – both Becs and Logan want to impress Logan’s sister. Becs because the woman might be her future boss and Logan because despite his best effort, his sister doesn’t take him seriously. Champion football player? Sure, okay. But what are you REALLY going to do with your life? How many of us have felt judged by parents and siblings for not choosing the safe and predictable path?
Anyway, I read this story a while back and it’s stuck with me so sitting down and writing a review was the logical next step. There’s plenty of humor in this book – something sorely missing these days. I’ve heard there’s another book coming shortly and I can’t wait to read that one as well.
This was fantastic. Funny and original. Writing was fresh and a breeze to read. Logan a football player meets Becs as a bar and takes her home. Due to unforeseen circumstances, they begin a fake relationship. The tension throughout was relatable and real, leading the two to delve right into feelings, yet not reveal anything to the other. The thing they had in common was their desire for each other and as much as they tried they couldn't keep their hands or anything else to themselves. This book was fun and fresh!

I flat out loved this book! I've never been a fan of the novella length story, but I'm going to have to change my mind. This story was the perfect length, the perfect pace, it moved along without dragging, but didn't feel too short, either. Not that I would've minded if it were longer, I loved the characters, Rebecca and Logan! Their sexual chemistry just leapt off the page, the dialogue sparkled, and I was rooting for them from the very first page. And my heart was in my mouth when it seemed like things weren't going to end well for them. A definite must read for all lovers of rom-coms.
What a fun book to read. Right from the beginning Becca draws you into her mess and keeps you clinging on to the story right to the end. Logan gets roped in and trying be a nice guy help Becca have a chance at landing the job she wants. Why does she need him to help her out? Seems Becca stumbles out of this fine, hot Quarterback's (Logan's) bed and into his kitchen where she finds the woman she's been wanting to get hired by, standing there. How do you spell oops. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Great book, give it a spin, you'll love it
This was such a great story! There was so much fun and laughter as I read this story. I love how enthralled Logan was with Becs and how he would find ways to be closer to her. The family dynamics were a bit intense but really added to the ste story. This was a very cute and entertaining read!!

I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. I really enjoyed this story. Ivy has a great style of writing and I was immediately drawn in to the plot and characters. It had a bit of everything..... Fake relationship ✅ sports star ✅ hot and steamy ✅ funny and witty ✅ a bit of angst ✅ HEA ✅. This is a great debut by Ivy and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
This is not my usual type of book, but I really enjoyed it. It's a light fun romance with some heat. Well written with good characters and an engaging storyline. A little cliche but overall excellent. Highly recommended

Romance Goals! This novel is so sweet; it’ll give you a cavity. Having had a one night stand then running into your potential future boss in his kitchen? Can life get anymore complicated? I enjoyed this story very much and recommend it to anyone looking for a romance with no cheating and a HEA.

I really liked Becca and Logan's story. It was a well written novella and their chemistry was fantastic. A one night stand developing into so much more. The morning after was funny but you could definitely feel the sexual tension between them.

A fun and entertaining read. It will have you giggling at parts and will keep your attention all the way through. This is the first book in this Wrong Place, Right Time series and I am looking forward to read the next one. The chemistry between the characters was amazing. A fun read.
Great very hot romance read. It starts right off and continues smoothly. Love all the characters. I sort of want to get into football but I rather just read sports romances. It also makes you realize how important communication is. First book by this author and I will be reading more by them.
