Kingdom of Wolves #5

Shift of Morals

Rate this book
I found him when he was a boy.
Bloody. Mangled. Near death.
If I’d been a merciful alpha, I would’ve snapped his neck and ended him right then.

Except, I didn’t.
Something in his big brown eyes tugged at my heart strings.
I kept him. Healed him. Raised him to be fierce, loyal, and brave.

Now that he’s an adult, everything’s changing.
He’s no longer the soft, scared beta I once thought he was.
No, there’s an uncontrollable anger inside him.
A rage-filled hate I don’t understand.

As a dangerous pack begins tormenting us and destroying our home, I feel him pulling from me as he seeks justice.
He thirsts for revenge, even if it means leaving our pack and going solo.
But, as his alpha, I won’t let him go without a fight.

Each time he pushes, I pull him right back to me.
I’ll keep him locked in my arms or pinned beneath me forever if that’s what it takes to keep him.
A shift of morals has begun.
One I don’t understand, but certainly don’t resist.

I’m the most powerful wolf on Beacon Island. I don’t have weaknesses.
Until now.
This wild, reckless young man changed everything when he stole my heart.

This book is a steamy standalone MM age-gap shifter romance. No other books need to be read before or after this one as it is a complete story.

***This is the fifth book to release in the Kingdom of Wolves collection but is a COMPLETE STANDALONE. It’s meant to be read on its own and is a full story with a happily ever after.***

Re-read: 04.10.2021
It wasn't a bad re-read. I enjoy it. Enjoyed the animalistic aspects to it. I just wish it was...more. The switch from Remy being the brat to just didn't feel all that smooth to me and having Cy calling did not feel right at all. But still, it's an enjoyable, interesting read. Of course, it's a bit predictable but it's an easy read to make the time pass.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Might Contain Spoilers*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

The book centers around Remy (17, turns 18 in chapter four) and his ward Cyrus ‘Cy’ Hames (38?), the Alpha of the Beacon Island pack. Remy has now been with Cy's pack for nearly ten years after Cy saves Remy at the age of eight - it was too late for his mother and sister. In the ten years, Cy's become the head forest ranger of Beacon Island National Forest and Remy a brat. He rarely can be bothered to acknowledge his link to Cy and his pack. They’re a burden to him. An unwanted family. People he was forced to live with and obey. And as the thing that attacked him and his family had tried to rip Remy's throat out, he hasn't spoken a word since - a year of being in their custody, Cy commanded that they all learn American Sign Language since Remy's vocal cords were damaged in the attack (he's mute, not deaf). Remy craves to escape his prison, to go to school, but his warden refuses and Remy hates him. Doesn't he?

Overall, it was an interesting read. I liked it. I love possessive and controlling alphas, you know that. And I liked how close the pack was to each other. However, there was a couple of things that I still didn't understand like for example why Cy refused to shift into a wolf except on a full moon. Is it a punishment, or simple because of control, or lack of it. Then there was the switch between hate and want that turned too fast for my taste. It was also pretty predictable. But other than that, I enjoyed reading quite a lot. It had an interesting plotline, with awesome characters with an animalistic feel to it - you know I love that. I just wanted more from it, more action, more sexual frustration, more werewolves.

Cy's Betas: (once human, bitten, and turned against their will)
Judd, always the first to reach out, worries. Cy's right-hand man. His best friend.
Ray, her burst of warmth always chasing away Cy's chill.
Finnick, despite being the clown of our group, ripples in with the force of a hurricane.
Ewan, who vines them all together, tugging them tight until they’re whole. In the ten years since Remy joined them, he's become an environmental scientist for the State of Maine.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Paranormal Romance (M/M).
Series: - Series (Standalone), Book Five.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Cyrus ‘Cy’ Hames.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Sure.
Will I read this again in the future? - Unsure.
Rating - 3.5/3 stars.

*** I received an eArc from the author in exchange for an honest review.***

Overall I really enjoyed this story. It was a great combination between a shifter romance and an age/gap romance. I loved K.Webster's original and unique take on the shifter romance that was both exciting and fun to read. The story was easy to digest and I felt fully connected to the world that was set up.

As for the two main characters they were both great to see how their relationship with each other grew over time and expanded throughout the story. There were natural chemistry and passion that jumped off the page.

Overall I enjoyed this story and found it an exciting world to visit.

Well, well, well…it seems I like K.Webster writing wolves too. There’s a big age gap here that will not be for everyone but I didn’t mind. The story flowed well and I loved the gore and murder part of the story. It ain’t no “Wicked Lies Boy Tell” but it will do. Im definitely interested in the author giving me some more paranormal m/m because she does angst so well 🤤

This is a part of a series but it can be read as a standalone.

Cyrus Hames is a wolf shifter and the Forest Ranger of Brigs Ferry Bay (which I freaked out about when I saw this. If you love MM, read the Brigs Ferry Bay series!)
In the beginning of the book he comes across a very gruesome scene of two dead bodies and a near-dead little boy. That boy is Remy. He ends up getting adopted by Cyrus and his small pack.

Fast forward 10 years, like any teenager, Remy is a moody one but rightfully so because Cryus, being the alpha, is extremely strict with Remy and has never allowed him to have friends or go to public school which leaves Remy extremely lonely. He has a lot of pent-up anger from his family being slaughtered and the culprit never caught and from his adoptive family being overly controlling.

“I may not have made him happy, but he’s always made me happy, even when we didn’t get along. We weren’t a complete pack until he joined us. He’s our heart, the pulse, the blood flowing through us. “ - Cy

But Remy is about to turn 18, and threatens to leave the pack so Cyrus gives him the job following him as a Forest Ranger. From there, Remy finds his first friend who are the new family of town. And Remi is extremely excited to finally have a cute boy in his sights who also happens to be gay.
Is it a coincidence that as soon as this family moved in, more mutilated dead bodies have showed up in the forest?

Trust me this story is not as predictable as it sounds. There is a ton of backstory that I genuinely did not see coming at all. And this book was written flawlessly with perfect pacing in my opinion and full of steam and banter.

Genre: MM Paranormal Romance
Type: Standalone book 5 from Kingdom of Wolves series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

For 10 years Remy grew up with the wolfpack who saved his life. Now at the cusp of adulthood, he wanted to live his life like a normal person. But the Alpha and his ward Cyrus Hames could not risk losing him, especially after a new threat started to surface in their small town.

Shifter books are low in my interest ranking but this being an MM, gave me the right motivation to read it. I’m glad I did because I enjoyed the story.

He acts as though his abilities are a curse. It’s important to belong to a pack. You have a built-in family that’ll be by your side no matter what. He’s not alone because we made him ours.

Cyrus was hot in his overprotective way, while Remy was understandably bratty and rebellious. I loved the rest of the pack too especially Finnick. The storyline was intriguing, mottled with suspense, sexual tension, and violence. For a short book, it was well developed and I especially loved both characters’ back story.

Shift of Morals is a story of survival and vengeance. It would appeal to readers looking for dark yet somewhat amusing MM Shifter Romance.

I received an ARC from GRR and this is my honest review.

This book started slow for me... and I didn't connect with the characters until I reached the 55% mark.
After that:
- I liked Cy and Remy.
- I liked their connection and how they made the shift from sort of enemies/warden-prisoner dynamic they had to lovers.
- Age Gap
- slow burn
- Possessiveness and jealousy

Before that, I didn't like both of them, but I'm glad it got better.
There is also only one sex scene and that was a bit underwhelming after the slowburn.

Okay first off, I love how the kingdoms are in Canada and Cy is from Alberta. R E P R E S E N T!

Okay and I’m other news, Remy is the most adorable and badass character. Like even though he’s mute and can’t speak, that doesn’t stop him from standing up for himself and doing what he wants. He’s not weak and I LOVE that. And Cy being so protective was 😍

Again, it was a huge age gap which I love and it takes place in the Brigs Ferry Bay universe so it was great seeing Jax, Dante, Cato, and Kian!

I would read this prior to Callan’s Atlas, but it is a standalone so you can really read it whenever if it interests you.

10 -Past is the Key- Stars⭐
A MM Age-Gap Fated-Mates Shifter Romance with a Fresh take on the PNR! It had Banters, High & Lows of Feels, Drama & Mysteries, Action-Packed, Astounding Truths, Sweet-Sweet Revenge, Love, Heat & HEA.
I LOVE Remy, Cyrus & packmates very much! From the blurb & Prologue, I knew It'll be different in the best way & I was right! DEVOURED this in 5hrs❤.

This book is Placed on Beacon island, close to Brigs Ferry Bay & We get Cameos from BFB series! I Adored that😍. Fun fact: This was my 3rd book by K. Webster, All 3 are MM & related to Brigs Ferry Bay😂.
World building is Awesome, Humans don't know about the PNR & the good guys stick together. There are Secret Kingdoms/Modern Businesses...

Cyrus; Serious, Growly, Protective, Caring; is The Alpha of Beacon Island & Head Forest Ranger of its National Park. His pack is his family (Love'em!). Cy's 18 yrs older than Remy..But does age matter for the PNR? Not for me atleast.

Remy; Bratty, Emotional, Smart, Sweet; Is the Baby of the Pack. Cy saved him When he was around 8, after a Monster killed & Raped his Mom & Sis (Ahh, the emotional trauma *Tears*). The attack made Remy Mute, but his personality shines. The pack is his family but he hates that they don't let him explore to keep him safe, & Knowing that the Pack-Cyrus especially- think of him as Weak (R's secret: He can read minds!) Is pure torture. But everything is far more Complex...
P.s. it's sweet how They all learned Sign language to talk with Remy!

Remy & Cy's relationship was pretty much that of a Child & His guardian...But as Danger looms & Remy Turns 18...It all Changes. They're both Gay, & as Suspicious Newcomers become their Neighbors...One of Whom is Infatuated with Remy, The Jealousy brings out the Inappropriate yet filthy hot attraction Remy & Cy kept at bay. How can something so right be Wrong? But sanity creeps in.

There's Banters, Dead bodies, Trapped & Soon to be 18, Newcomers & Exploration, Attraction & Jealousy, Cameo Fun, Fucking Hot, Hear thoughts & Masterbates, Avoidance & Growing close, Underage drinking, Knowledge & Emotional moment, Feelings grow intimate, Kissing & Lust, No Regrets, Love & Remy's GrateFul, Remy is Cy's...

Remy is curious, Genius (& a Virgin). It's always been Cy for Remy: The one who wants to protect him, but ends up hurting him the most. When Cy agrees to let him help with work, it's the best gift. I loved the Character Growth they both go through, As Unsaid is finally said, so many things Get into Perspective. Love & Acceptance. I was so proud when Remy showed the pack his appreciation for Everything *Happy tears*.

Though Remy & Cy keep being a couple at the down-low, it soon all comes out as Danger reaches its Climax. The Same monster(s?) Who killed Remy's Family are causing Havoc now & It's time for Revenge.
Cy Always knew Remy is Powerful, but how much? We find here. Alpha mode Engaged! & When they finally give in fully to the desire...Its super Hot!
As Reasons get Found (I Knew the Newcomers were Weirdy!!), Attacks happen, Everything's Out of Control, Past-Hurts-Truths, Mates & Power; Cue Heart-racing & Edgy scenes... Action, Revenge, Blood...Closure!

Cy & Remy are Fated (Wolves!) mates, Met Already & Bonded through years. Misunderstandings & Non-Truths kept them apart, but at last, they accepted their legacy! *Ahem, Kings, Ahem* It all tied up beautifully at the end. I loved how the pack (& Friends) accepted their relationship❤. Cy+Remy are so hot together🔥🔥...The ending & Epilogue's Gorgeous!😍
P.s. Telepathy Communication is the best *Wink*.

This series of Total Standalones in the shared universe sounds Good & I'll surely check out the other books!

mmm I think it's unpopular opinion:/
Okay, maybe I have to read more wolf books because certainly, this is the only book that I have read with a controlling possessive Alpha at that magnitude, but maybe is normal, so idk?
Cyrus is the Alpha of the Beacon Island Pack. One day, he finds a boy (Remy) wounded and dying in the forest, being the only survivor of the attack that killed his family. Cyrus decides to keep him and make him part of the pack.
10 years later, Remy has grown up with restrictions: he can't go to town, have friends, and has grown up at home. So now he's tired, and he shows them his hatred for being rescued to his pack, he hates his life, his home, the murderer of his family and Cyrus.
Cyrus is also angry, he does not tolerate Remy's attitude, his need to protect him leads him to deny any opportunity with the outside without supervision, especially now, that murders begin to occur, exactly the same as those of Remy's family.

Yes, I understand why Remy is angry, it makes sense, I would also be angry in his situation, even if it was just to protect me, because come on, I understand that wolves are possessive, but to the extent of not letting him go to school? He is already 18 years old, he deserved even ONE chance. They could even protect him from afar, until they were sure that he was safe.
Buuut I would not be angry forever because there is this other perspective: I am still alive, I have a home and a family. And I was glad when finally Remy realizes that.
I also understand why Remy is practically jumping when he starts to have contact with other people, he wants to meet other people so much that he does not care about anything, and that seems very irresponsible and naive to me, because come on, YOU know that they are murdering in the woods, and even so, you agree to go out without caring about the danger, it's like, mmmm no, if I've been overprotecting so much, it's for something, right?
The "change" from hate to love? Uhh nope, I didn't feel it. I was more consumed by all the anger there was than by another feeling, really. Although they have known for ten years, I did not feel the building it of love-partner, it was very fast.
Characters? Cyrus is just a jerk, his possessiveness annoyed me a lot. He never asks Remy what he wants to do with his life, he just gives him a job no matter what he may or may not like. Pff, love? Im not sure. The second characters i liked them by the end, although I would have liked to know them more. The story was kind of predictable.
And I'm confused about Remy, he's a werewolf by blood, right? Since his father was an Alpha wolf shifters, but not at the beginning in the prologue Cyrus had said that he was a human? and why could Cyrus and none of the pack smell him? Someone explain to me, please.
And well, I think I liked the last (four) chapters better.

3.5 stars. Remy, a small boy of only eight years, got saved from death by Cyrus ten years ago. His mother and sister were already killed. He was heavily injured.

Now ten years later, he wished Cyrus had let him die. He feels trapped by the caring pack and his strong pack leader, Cyrus is too protective and possessive.
Lately, Remy feels so much anger, it’s burning him down.
The pack and especially Cyrus wants to protect him, always, every second.
Remy wants to be free, away from all their voices and energy.

Cyrus is the Alpha of the Beacon Island pack, a fierce, strong leader.
He’s the head forest ranger of Beacon Island National Forest.
Cyrus protective and extremely possessive over Remy, obliviously about his reason.
When Remy turns eighteen, Cyrus feels their bond is changing, that’s on Remy of course, not him.

There are men found killed in the woods. Now Cyrus is even more protective, Remy is even more anxious by him. He feels like a hostage.
New neighbors are arriving with a boy Remy’s age, it seems they like each other.
Cyrus is getting out of his mind.

That was one thrilling story. In the beginning, it started slow, it was all about Cyrus, Remy, and the pack. I’m not sure I even liked them. The build-up was good, only for me the story felt a bit split in two. Further on I felt more involved, I saw the whole picture better. It got thrilling, at times a sat on the edge of my chair.

The conversations and banter between the pack members were at times hilarious. So much fun.
I loved the way they communicated.
The story started a bit repetitive and felt jerky, later on, it got smoother.
Even though there was a lot of sexual tension the action was limited.
There are a lot of secrets to reveal. It was all surprising, I didn’t see it coming.
Overall a slow-burn narrative with entertaining content, I enjoyed reading.

This story was a dark taboo agegap MM romance with all the craveable things including a jealous possessive H who's behavior sometimes leads to irrational decisions. Nothing went the way I expected with this story. Every time I though I had things figured out I'd get thrown in a different direction. This unconventional love story was filled with an angsty push-pull that kept me needing to know more.

Cyrus Hames is the Alpha of the Beacon Island pack - Rey, Finnick, Ewan, Judd and Remy are under his protection. Past events are coming back to haunt everyone and the aptly timed introduction of a new set of neighbors brings forth unsettling questions. A decade ago Cyrus' pack rescued Remy after a near death attack and now the same type of attacks have started again.

Remy suffered greatly that night. He lost his family and his ability to speak. He witnessed things no one should have to endure let alone bear witness. His new family and pack are overprotective to the point of suffocation. All Remy wants is freedom. All he wants is friends. All he yearns for is to no longer hear the words "𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒌. 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍. 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒌𝒆𝒏." coming from Cy. And on his eighteenth birthday he gets his wish granted. He receives the best presents he could imagine, an adventure, a job, and a new friend.

Cash Easton, his new neighbor, is everything Remy desires. He's delicious to look at, close in age, easy to talk to, and above all else he too wants Remy. Everything seems great until Remy realizes he wants someone else more. Someone who should be forbidden, wrong, and undesirable. Then he hears it... 𝑺𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈. 𝑺𝒐 𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆. 𝑺𝒐 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕.

Cy and Remy may be an unconventional couple but by the end of the book you'll understand why they are meant to be. All the seemingly questionable pieces of the puzzle will fall into place.

🌈 This story was set within two worlds - The Kingdom of Wolves and Brigs Ferry Bay universes. It's a fun way to tie in the two worlds and if we're lucky we'll get more stories for the pack.

🌈 While the existence of shifters is hidden from the township, we have interactions with Jax and Dante. 📖: Sheriff’s Secret

🌈 We get to see Cato in all his cuteness. I'm still holding out hope that sometime in the near future we will be getting his book and seeing him find his HEA.

🌈 There is also a brief interaction with Kian at Blur. 📖: Kian’s Focus

This was a ok read. I’m still getting into shifting books. This book was definitely over the top with the alpha being overbearing. At times... it was hard for me to fully let go. Because Cy was just so unbearable. The way he treated Remy was uncalled for.

I hate him for finding me—for not letting me die with them. For forcing me to live a life filled with emptiness and pain."

I know Cy meant well... but he knew he was too much at times. He just couldn’t keep himself under control. And it pushed Remy further away.

I may not have made him happy, but he’s always made me happy, even when we didn’t get along. We weren’t a complete pack until he joined us. He’s our heart, the pulse, the blood flowing through us.

I wish Cy & Remy connected sooner than they did. I liked all the action that was going on in this book. But I feel there could’ve been more of a balance.
Because I wanted more of that forbidden feeling coming from Cy. The age difference was pretty big. And I thought it could’ve been played up more.

But once they did let go and give in to their needs. It was pretty hot.

A little Brigs Ferry Bay was in this book. Sheriff's Secret. Sheriff Jaxson Bell & his deputy Brie Larson were in this book. Along with Dante & Cato & Kian‘s gay club. I don’t think you have to read the Brigs Ferry Bay series before you read this book. You won’t feel lost with who is who. But, if you want to know more about these other characters. I would give it a read first before reading this book.

I just wonder how future books will be in that series now that the author has brought in shifters. Because the first book in the that series doesn’t mention anything paranormal nor the second book.

Shift of Morals is an MM wolf shifter age romance that takes place in Kingdom of Wolves, a muli-author series of standalones. This is about Cy, an alpha wolf who saved a boy from a brutal attack and ends up bringing him into his pack. fast forward 10 years later, Remy is a sassy boy who wants nothing more to see the world, while Cy wants to keep him safe in his pack forever. As Remy turns 18, something shifts between Cy and Remy and their bond shifts into something else.

I enjoyed this story and I really, really liked Remy and his sassy attitude. Cy was pretty great too, if not a little overbearing. I ended up giving it 3.5 because I wish it had been a lot steamier throughout and I was a bit disconnected with the plot.

Definitely check this out if you like wolf shifters and MM

Cyrus Hames, 36, Alpha of his little pack of five wolf shifters and loves his job as the head forest ranger of Beacon Island National Forest in Brigs Ferry Bay.
Ten years ago Cyrus rescued Remy, an eight year old boy, more dead than alive. Cy found the small kid between the mangled and raped dead bodies of probably his mother and sister.

Fast forward ten years and Cy is a broody overprotective alpha, while Remy is an angry and depressed eighteen years old teen, who is desperate to escape the overbearing alpha.
But when bodies start to pile up, keeping the good sheriff busy, the past creeps up in their present world. Cy and Remy have to finally face long ago buried memories. On top of that all, Cy & Remy are starting to feel a strong bond forming between them.

Shift of Morals is definitely not the sweet boy-meets-boy, fall in love and live happily-ever-after kind of story, far from it. It is gory, it is bloody and has it fair share of magic happening.

There is enough mystery that will keep you turning the pages, because you just want to know!!

Part of the Kingdom of Wolves Series, this story is set in Brigs Ferry Bay
Shift of Morals (Kingdom of Wolves, #5) by K. Webster

Cyrus Hames relishes his position as forest ranger for the Beacon Island National Forest. As an Alpha wolf shifter, Cyrus lives with his packmates, but ten years ago danger delivered Remy, an eight year-old boy, and Cyrus vowed to protect him. Now that Remy is turning 18, changes are brewing and the entire pack is at risk with suspicious deaths in the forest.

“It won’t go away. No matter how much I guard my mind and feelings and thoughts, he somehow weasels his way in.”

Narrated in dual POV, the story unfolds as Cyrus and Remy are at odds with each other. Cyrus feels Remy is his responsibility to protect, yet Remy resents being sheltered. Adding to the tense dynamic are feelings neither can control and this leads to combustible moments. But given the threat at large, the pack must concentrate on finding the culprit and ultimately what lies in the past.

Remy is a character that grows into his maturity and when he accepts his fate, it is truly satisfying, as I was rooting for him. The attraction between Cy and Remy is combustible and the taboo aspect added to their bond. I definitely liked how the past merged into the present. Additionally, the way the pack communicates was intriguing and highly entertaining. Overall, this story offers steam, laughter and mystery in the theme of loyalty and friendship.

Shift of Morals is a paranormal romance with taboo vibes and a crime element. This book would appeal to those seeking a story of pent-up attraction between lusty wolf shifters.

Found in the woods beside his slaughtered family, 8-year-old Remy is taken in by Cyrus Hames and his pack of wolf shifters. Although protective by nature, Cyrus feels an almost unnatural need to shelter Remy and keep him safe. Safe from the world and whatever attacked Remy’s family. Fast forward ten years and Remy has begun to chafe from the bonds that Cyrus has put on him. Lashing out as a rebellious teenager, Remy and Cyrus butt heads constantly, both verbally and via the mental communication that goes on throughout their pack. But at the same time that Remy feels the need to break from his pack and assert his independence, he feels an attraction growing between himself and the man that has cared for him all these years.

Cyrus feels the attraction too, and can’t understand the magnitude of the pull towards his young charge. He just knows that he can’t let Remy go, especially now with a killer on the loose, attacking people in a way that is so similar to the way in which Remy’s family was killed years ago.

K. Webster does a great job in creating a backstory and plot that is unexpected. The story is engaging and fast paced, and pulled me in to a world of primal urges and mystical beings. While the attraction between Cyrus and Remy touched on the taboo of age gap, for some reason I didn’t get the same naughty, forbidden vibe that some of this author’s other stories have given off. The story was just dark and gritty and felt as if it took place by moonlight with wolves howling in the background.

Set in a multi-author universe, Shift of Morals is absolutely a stand-alone. I wasn’t even aware of the series until I saw this one written by K Webster, so having no prior knowledge of this wolf shifter world didn’t stop me from fully understanding this story. If there is any cross-over between this book and others written in the same world, I am not aware. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised to find a cross over into the world of Brigs Ferry Bay and once again see Jax, my favorite sherriff (Sheriff’s Secret) and dog groomer, Cato. It was like visiting with old friends and definitely a welcome addition to the story.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Shift of Morals
is one of those multi author universes, so it can be completely read as a stand alone. Which you can take my word on because I had never heard of this series before this book and I didn't even know it was part of a series. However, if you have read K. Webster & Misty Walker's Briggs Ferry Bay series you'll recognize a few familiar faces because the pack lives in the forest next to that town.

"Cyrus Hames is my keeper. My boss. Warden to my prison, I hate him."

Cyrus saves an 8-year-old Remy from the forest after being assaulted and witnessing his mom and sister be murdered. Cyrus vows then and there to protect him as pack. Fast-forward 10 years Remy is turning 18 and Cyrus' over protectiveness has led to him being angry and resentful of the pack. He just wants his own life he wants friends and to be normal especially since besides being able to hear the thoughts of his pack mates he is yet to show signs of being a werewolf himself. Suddenly dead bodies start showing up, and it seems to be the same predator that attacked Remy as a child. On top of trying to find the murderer and keep Remy safe, both Cyrus and Remy our experiencing feelings for each other that they've never felt before.

"I close my eyes, fighting this war raging inside me. I'm caught between loving like family and wanting to f*cking worship him like a lover."

Okay there's a lot about this story I liked. I read a lot of shifter books, so it was easy for me to follow along with. The age gap, with Remy being so young at only 18 sat fine with me because they literally had no romantic feelings for one another until now and even then it isn't until 50% into the book. So there was no creepy old man yearning for a little kid vibe going on. Wow I'm doing a horrible job explaining this, but I hope you get what I mean. It does get a little odd towards the end when you discover there's a past history between them that was weird, I don't know how I felt about it.

"I want to caress away his fears and kiss to life his fantasies. I want it all."

Characters... I'll be honest the secondary characters / members of the pack were probably my favorite. I didn't love Cyrus , even by the end of I was indifferent towards him. Remy is a much easier character to connect with. You hurt for him and his feelings of being a burden, lack of self-esteem and his overall yearning to be and do more. Of course, he's frustrating because he's a teenager so his quick and emotional reactions make sense. The romance like I mentioned before between our two characters doesn't start till like halfway through the book. It was very angsty and they really fight it because of guilt and their own confusion over it. As with most of Kay Webster's books, the intimacy scenes are hot and intense and rough around the edges in a good way.

Shift of Morals is the fifth book in the Kingdom of Wolves series, but it can be read as a standalone story. You do not need to have read any other books in this series to enjoy this one, and such is how I read it.

As with all my K. Webster books, Shift of Morals hooked me from the start. For fans of the Brigs Ferry Bay series, there are some nice cameo appearances, and this sucked me in deeper. Even without that, I could not get enough of the story. With plenty of humour and a gripping storyline, I quickly fell for the characters and the way the story unfolded. Things moved a little bit too quickly at the end, with things being a little too easy in how the ending came about, but it was not enough to remove my enjoyment of the rest of the story.

All in all, another addictive read from K. Webster. In fact, I hope some of the side characters get their stories written as I’d love to see more of them.

I think now it's clear that K Webster is not my author, this isn't my first and not even the second try for me.

I started this book because it says it has taboo elements, dark scenes and shifters. What can be better then that? I tell you what- a book where the shifters really shifts into animals and not only at the end of the book, and the taboo isn't taboo at all. At least not in my dictionary, but anyway.

The first half of the book was enjoyable and I really liked reading it, it held my interest and I wanted to know how it will end. But after a while it got predictable and clear as day who were the bad guys and what will happen. I missed more shifter scenes - the mind communication was really good, but it got only mentioned and better at the end. And exactly that's what I hate in books, when the really interesting and good parts happens at the end. You had the whole book to tell interesting scenes, but you choose only a couple of pages at the end.

The taboo part - father/son ? - it's a joke. Cyrus and Remy, alpha and beta(?). Cyrus found Remy when he was a kid, saved and raised him. Then everything changed when Remy turned 18 (surprise, surprise).
The hate/love relationship between them is good at first sight, but it misses more depth. I missed more emotions, they were only words on the page without meaning behind them.

The start and the ending is good, but the middle part is a mess. The sex scene(s) were good, but not enough.

We need more interconnected book universes like this! Ones with multiple authors that include cameos of different characters from other books. I absolutely love that!

When pack alpha Cyrus comes across the mutilated bodies of a woman and her daughter, along with the barely alive baby boy in the woods, he decides to take they boy into his wolf pack and raise him as one of them. Years later at almost 18, the boy, Remy, has grown up but the damage done to his body and his vocal chords leaves him mute. With the pack bond in his head, he can hear the thoughts of the others, leaving him feeling like less than a pack member and more of a weak outsider they all feel like they have to protect.

Cy has done nothing but protect and shelter Remy for the last 18 years, but the boy is starting to get under his skin. The dynamic between them is changing and neither of them know why. The arrival of new neighbors may have something to do with it, since Remy finds himself incredibly attracted to Cash, one of the brothers who have just moved in.

Aside from the shift in relationship, Cyrus is finding mutilated bodies in the woods again. This feels all too familiar. Now, they are in a race against the clock to discover who is killing in their Maine woods and stopping them before Remy gets taken away from him.

I hadn't read a wolf pack novel in a while and this was so great. Remy and Cyrus were two beautifully written men and I adored their romance and their story,

I was a little unsure about this one as it got started but I persevered. There is a significant age gap and there’s a dynamic that I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to buy into. But the story gradually drew me in to the mystery of what was going on and also the developing and changing relationships. The intensity of the book definitely ramped up as it went on, both With the confused feeling and burgeoning relationship , and also what atrocities were going on in the woods. It is hard to tell who is hunting who and who is friend or foe. And towards the end I was really surprised at how the story all layered in and fit together.

This is an intense, suspenseful, mysterious, age-gap, fated mates, shifters story. I love the Brigs Ferry Bay series so I enjoyed seeing some of the characters from that series crossover.

Let me start off by saying this turned out absolutely NOTHING like I imagined it would. An MM Shifter Romance? Yaaaaaaaaas! But y'all, just read the Prologue and everything will change.

This is a dark, gritty, violent story. It's not all sunshine and daisies. Cyrus is an older Alpha who finds a small, bloodied boy, Remy, in the woods. It's HORRIFIC what happens. Brutal, y'all. Something inside Cyrus makes him claim the boy.

Years later, Remy is 18, angry, depressed, and acting out. Cyrus struggles with seeing him as a man and not his ward. Remy, sheltered for 10 years, is desperate to escape and experience life. When new neighbors move in next door at the same time nasty killings start happening, everything both begins to make sense and fall apart.

This is my first book in this series of interconnected stories. I'll admit I was confused for a good bit of the story. It wasn't until near the end that everything came out and I was like, oh yea, this is part of a series! That aspect of the story was intriguing and I'm wondering if you start at the beginning of the series if things in this book will make sense earlier on.

And the steam? 🥵 For me, that glued this story together because the push/pull and minor forbidden vibe was hot AF. So many emotions bled through this story and while I was expecting something lighter, I ended up LOVING this story in the end.

Hello, wolf shifters!!!
This was one steamy book.
If you are looking for a fast paced page turner with lots of angst and steam, then look no further.
K. Webster is one of my favorite authors and this is my first paranormal book by her.
Well, I loved it!!! It was delicious, emotional and sizzling with chemistry.
I loved Cy, our possessive, protective Alpha.
He meets his match in Remy. Talk about heat!
The only thing I would change is the quick transition to lovers with these two. I wanted more of a slow burn but I enjoyed it this all the same.
I recommend it.

Supernatural comes to Briggs Ferry

I absolutely loved the fact that this past was close to Briggs Ferry and we got to see from some of those characters again. Sheriff, Kian, Cato and more.

Remy was taken in by Cyrus and his lack after his family is murdered and he is left of dead. Cyrus is so yummy with him crankiness as well as Remy. With danger lurking, isn't that the best way to learn who you are and that you're a fated mate.

3.5 stars.

I enjoy a good fated mates story and this was a cute one.

Although it was pretty predictable, I enjoyed the back story plot twist, it made the story a little more interesting.

Remy was absolutely adorable and while Cy wasn't my favorite, I understood him.

All in all, a cute read.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

K Webster never ever ever disappoints in whatever she writes.

This was an amazing Shapeshifter M/M book and wish that K will write her own series in this genre.

For my first shifter book in quite some years, I was so pleasantly surprised by this tale. PNR is not the usual genre I read, but as this is written by Kristi, who is one of my absolute favourite authors, I just had to give it a go. I love that Kristi writes so many difference genres. This is also M/M which is my absolute fav!

I found this story totally captivating, thrilling and pretty suspenseful...right up to the very last part of the book! The romance aspect is a slow burn, but all the tension is there between Cy and Remy.

Although this book is part of a wider series, it can be read as a stand-alone. It’s told via duel POV, so you get to hear both Cy and Remy’s thoughts which is great considering Remy is mute following a tragic injury in his past.

What I also loved about this book is the bond between the pack. Again, as a newbie to the genre I found all this fascinating.

It was also great to get appearances from Sheriff Bell! That was a big surprise too, loved it.

So in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Anyone that loves shifter stories, will love this!

He protects me from nothing when he should be protecting me from himself. No one hurts me but him. It’s always him. His words and glares and touch.

I would have given a higher score to this book if it weren't for the side plot, the truth was that I didn't really care about all the mystery, I just wanted to read about Cyrus and Remy all the time, their scenes together fascinated me, too much chemistry between them, I enjoyed the forbbiden aspect a lot, as always K webster never fails me.

the number of times i cringed reading this.... fuck. very tempted to count how many times cyrus (least sexy name on earth) grunted or bit out words or was generally weird but i don't wanna open this book again. i enjoyed sheriff's secret so this mess was disappointing. age gap was not well handled, the backstory that was revealed literally at 90% was so misplaced and confusing that i think we'd be better off not considering this a standalone. at least, there should be a blurb explaining the kingdom bc i was like???? what the fuck. fated mates storyline wasn't resonating with me either and the whole romance gave me the creeps. no. nope.

I don't read PNR. It's not my jam. But K Webster constantly makes a liar out of me.

Shift of Morals is addicting, fast paced, and steamy as all heck. This forbidden, age gap story hooked me from page one and didn't stop hooking me until the amazingly sweet happily ever after.

Now I'm questioning my entire life. Am I a PNR reader now?
