Bad Boy Ranch #5

Taming a Texas Devil

Rate this book
He’s a hardheaded Texas Ranger who follows the rules.
She’s a ditzy beauty queen who enjoys breaking them.
When they join forces to solve a crime, Lone Star sparks will fly.

Lawman Lincoln Hayes is back in Simple, Texas, to repay a debt. As a delinquent youth, Lincoln was on a fast-track to prison, but the two old cowboys who ran the boys’ ranch taught him good wins over evil, so Lincoln made damn sure he became the good guy—his way of making amends for a death he believes he should have prevented. Now the two old cowboys have gotten themselves tangled up in a missing person’s case and Lincoln is going to prove their innocence come hell or high water. The last thing he has time for is babysitting some spoiled senator’s daughter who has decided to play deputy Daisy Duke in designer boots and a tiara. But his boss makes it clear, if Lincoln ever wants a promotion, he’ll do the senator’s bidding and become Dixie’s bodyguard...and guarding Dixie’s body turns out to be much more than Lincoln bargained for.

Dixie Leigh Meriwether has absolutely zero interest in law enforcement. But when her father refuses to relinquish her inheritance until she goes to law school, Dixie goes on the offensive and becomes a small town deputy. Law school, law officer… close enough. At least close enough to drive her dad crazy and force him to give her the money so she can start her pageant consulting business. How to walk in heels without tripping, she knows. Fighting crime, not so much. But she has time on her side…that is until the town sheriff is put on leave for misconduct and Dixie is left in charge. Worse, a no-nonsense ranger is now sharing her office—a sexy ranger who doesn’t fall for her sweet-as-Texas-tea charm. So Dixie sets out to prove she’s not all ditzy glitter. She can do her job and do it well. But in the process, she’ll discover that she loves protecting her little town...almost as much as she loves a certain Texas lawman.

When Dixie finds out Lincoln’s interest in her is coerced by her father, she disappears faster than a plate of fresh baked cookies at a church picnic—falling right into the trap of a killer. Now it’s Lincoln to the rescue. But can he get there in time and save the one woman who can heal his bad boy heart?

Can a former Texas beauty queen become a deputy sheriff and can she take on a Texas Ranger when he finds her to doing her nails instead of keeping the town safe... You bet your sweet mama she can! And that beauty queen is winning the hearts of the Simple, Tx. Lincoln Hayes does not know what to make of Dixie Leigh Meriwether, but when they are both working on the same case... a missing person Sam Sweeny, then Dixie shows Lincoln that she is more than just her looks. And her looks are drawing Lincoln into a place he does not to go and that is his attraction to Dixie Leigh. But Lincoln has a little bit of a secret and when Dixie finds out, there might just be a shootout at High Noon.

I loved Lincoln and Dixie together. They are both running away from what the world thinks they are, but each draw on their strengths while fighting their attraction to one another. With the help from the citizens of Simple, TX, Dixie and Lincoln find what they were both looking for. Love and acceptance for who they are.

I always know when I am reading a book by Katie Lane I am going to smile and laugh and a few sighs too, you can’t help falling in love with those Double Diamond bad boys, and of course Lucas and Chester and even crusty Aunt Gertie... so much that at the end of the book I am going to wanting to read her next book with anticipation.

Once again we take another delightful trip to Simple, Texas to the Double Diamond Ranch where we get to catch up with Lucas and Chester as well as find out what Cru, Logan, Holden and Val have been up to. In Taming a Texas Devil we get to know Lincoln Hayes and Dixie Meriweather and follow along on their journey to happy ever after. Lincoln was a DD Ranch bad boy as a teenager and with the help of Lucas and Chester became a good man as well as a Texas Ranger. He has a lot of pain from his past but with the help of one feisty deputy things turn around for him. Dixie is the daughter of a Senator and former beauty queen who has decided becoming a deputy is a way to get her daddy to cough up her trust fund money from her grandmother. Until Lincoln comes along she didn’t realize how well being a deputy for Simple, Texas fit who she wanted to be.

Taming a Texas Devil’s plot is very entertaining with lots of full out laugh out loud laughter as the things that come out of Dixie’s mouth are hilarious! The town’s people add so much “flavor” to the story and the reader will love getting to know each and every one. This story is a great addition to this series and I look forward to Sawyer’s story.

What a great story. One was a beauty and one was a Texas ranger. When they first met Lincoln thought Dixie was a very spoiled girl. Little did Dixie know that her Father had hired Lincoln to keep and eye on her but that got old fast for him to be babysitting Dixie. She was trying to prove something to her Father and he felt she would never be a good Deputy. Well read to find out if she proves her Father and Lincoln wrong. See if Lincoln and Dixie fall in love.

She really has no idea what she is doing as the deputy and Linc is a Texas Ranger that very quickly puts her in her place - so much fun to be had and another of Katie's wonderful "Can't put it down reads!" I received a bookfunnel copy and I freely leave my opinion!

Taming a Texas Devil!!

Well I think Lincoln is my new favorite bad boy. Dixie is perfect for him. She has so much love to give when he doesn’t feel worthy of love. So happy these two found each other.
