Two men want her heart. She wants freedom. Is it possible to accept love, without losing it all?

Kimi did a very bad thing. Now she has to flee the small Oklahoma town where her white father raised her. She escapes to the Cheraksaw Reservation to be with her mother—and quickly finds herself in the arms of her childhood friend, Chayton.

Then her mother forces her out of the village—the time has come for her to fly. Kimi’s only choice is to take work she doesn't want...as a governess for hard-hearted widower, Alex Randall. But the rumors and the reputation Kimi fled follow her to her new employer.

When she discovers a shocking secret about Mr. Randall, yearnings for her boss awaken. But Chayton has not gone quietly into the night. There’s a threat much bigger than all of them, and Chayton swears to be her protector.

Then tragedy strikes, and both men are brought to their knees. Kimi must risk everything to save them, but if they survive, Kimi could lose more than her heart, she could lose the one thing she values most—her freedom.

Can she give up one love for another, or will passion and forbidden desires lead to more than she thought possible?

Kimi Wallace seemed to find scandal no matter what. She had a Cheraksaw Indian mother and a white father. She was raised by her father but her mother was never far away. Her mother was a healer and delivered the babies of the women in Hillview, Oklahoma. Kimi wants to fly free and not be tied down to any man. When she had trouble, she went to her mother but her mother forced her to leave and make it on her own. She really cared for Soaring Falcon (Chayton) but when he left her know he cared for her and she found out he had another woman pregnant, she felt betrayed. She made some rash decisions and ended up in a dangerous situation when a crazy woman tried to kill her. This story has lots of drama, a vindictive Mrs. Johns, betrayal, lies, and in the end happiness is found. A good story.

The flight of a butterfly.
Kimi is a half-breed her father is white and her mother is Cheraksaw. Rejected by not only Lucy and Will but also her mother’s people Kimi now has to find another way to make it in the world. This is a good story about a young woman in the early 1900s that is having a hard time finding her way in a world that simply does not like Indians and half-breeds. This book showcases the rocky relationship between Chayton and Kimi and the author showed the true emotions that they each faced at each stage of their relationship. In many ways, this is a very powerful piece. I highly recommend you check out this outstanding book. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

A wonderful addition to this series!

Kimi is troubled and lost in a world where she feels she is split into two. One where a child of a Native American woman and a white man can never be accepted fully in the minds of those around her. Wishing for an escape throws her life into chaos and also towards two very different men. Will she be able to finally listen to her heart and find happiness?

I was very excited to read Kimi’s story and boy I was not disappointed. A great story with great characters.

I read this book voluntarily for an honest review.

This story was a little too convoluted. It was hard to know who Kimi really had feelings for so the resolution felt a little out of the clear blue sky.
It was an interesting addition to the series, but just a little too confusing to follow the romance. The rest of the story, including the historical circumstances of the effects of colonization were well done.

good

Once again, I like that Brooke Stanton is willing to play with the genre and offer a story that is more nuanced than the typical offering one sees. My rating is because I did not bond with Kimi, I didn’t really care what happened save that she didn’t end up with the hero that I wanted her to! Others might feel happy with it but I wasn’t.

This is the 4th book in this series. It is the story of Kimi Wallace, the daughter of a white man and an Indian woman and her childhood friend Soaring Falcon? Kimi doesn’t fit in either culture and is searching for a place she belongs. Soaring Falcon, also known as Chayton, is her destiny.

Siding Kimi

Great book.I loved how Kimi was after spirit. I hated even though that is part of the prestigious against some people in our would that Kimi was treated as she was, not belonging to the whites or to the indians

You have to love Kimi’s spirit. She never demonstrated anything less than her true and authentic self.

The fourth book in the Forbidden Romance series a well written story that once I started reading I was not putting down until I finished reading. Kimimela/Kimi Wallace, Alex Randall, and Chayton/Soaring Falcon's story of one man and the two men in her life. There is suspense, drama, danger, stuck-up gossipy women, a villain, and steamy romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a story of a nineteen year old girl Kimi, who tries to sleep with Will, her brother in law. She thought she was in love with him and that her sister Lucy didn't love him. She was raised by a white father and her mother was Cheraksaw. Her mother was the Indian doctor for her tribe. Chayton was a young boy she he was caught stealing off of Will . Will put him to work with horses. He fell in love with Kimi but she wanted to be free to find her way in this world. This was a very exciting story and I received an ARC of this book. It keeps you wanting to know what happens next. It has sexual scenes in this story.

I chose to read this book based on the blurb supplied by the author. I was intrigued by the storyline and totally taken by the characters. There were moments that I couldn’t believe what the characters were doing. Yet I couldn’t stop reading. An enjoyable story.

This is the 3rd book I've read written by Brooke Stanton; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

In the year 1906, a young girl who is half white and half Indian of a Plains Tribe must learn how to overcome prejudice in the farm town of Hillview. Kimi loves Chayton, and they each use different skills in order to survive. It is a story so very true of America during those years. A solid read.
