Skye's new undercover mission drops her in the world of illegal MMA fights run by the Russian Mafia. Her new identity forces her to embrace the darkness. Her survival depends on her ability to be one with the shadows.
The only relief she finds is in Nick's bed, but visiting him endangers both them and her mission. Will he be there when she comes back into the light?
Nick's patience was forged in the heat of the hunt. From every criminal he caught, he learned to wait. But now, waiting is hell. The woman he loves has descended in the underworld and all he can do is wait for her to come out on the other side.
When she visits him at night, he can sense she's changing. This experience will change her. Will the new Skye want him?
In Shadow is a romantic thriller that will take you on a twisted ride through darkness. It continues the story of Skye and Nick from In Danger, but it can be read as a standalone story.
This book explores a complicated love story between an older man and a younger woman. The story is intended for mature audience due to the explicit language, violence, mentions of torture and murder. The characters are in dangerous situations outside their control, and sometimes they have to resort to measures that some people may find disturbing.
This book was previously published under the title Haunting Woods.
Skye and Nick continue to grow their physical relationship for some much needed relief, even as she goes undercover. I like the characters, including Skye's family, and don't mind the age difference. The story moves along at a brisk pace. Occasionally too brisk. Before you know it, much more than a year has passed.
They are hot when together but struggle with verbal communication. I'm interested to see where the next installment leads these two. Nothing is likely to be smooth sailing for them, especially when they are apart. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Our heroine has a new undercover assignment, this one even more dangerous than the last. How will our protective hero deal with the necessary separation?
This is book two in this series and it continue essentially where the first book left off. It can be read as a standalone and you will pick up the essentials, but I recommend reading them in order so that you understand the characters better and how they got where they are.
I felt the first book was a little slow starting as it had to build the background. Not so here. This one jumps right in with both feet. The story is well written with some intense action scenes, as well as a growing intensity between our couple. They have both been in denial, figuring they can't really have what they want and assuming (my least favorite word) that the other doesn't feel the same way. You will get some nice steamy scenes while they try to figure things out, but will they open up and break down those walls this time? You will have to read the book to find out.
Note that the book does not end in a cliffhanger, but just like the first one, there is clearly more to come and everything is not wrapped up with a bow.
Highly recommended.

In Shadow is the second book in the Undercover series. It is the continuing story of Skye and Nick. They are two detectives trying to draw out a killer of young woman. Nick is older, works from his gut and is gruff. Skye is a young undercover officer who is good at what she does, by the book and is determined. She looks like a series of young women have have been found murdered so she is putting her in the line of danger trying to get the killer. Nick and Skye have a lot of chemistry that is ready to explode and burn the house down. I enjoyed this second book the continuing story-line which is packed with energy, suspense, danger and a lot more. I am looking forward to the final book to see just what happens and whether Skye gets he man.......or should that be me.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
If you like a book with drama and high intrigue, the second book of the Undercover Trilogy - In Shadow - by author Marissa Blush does not disappoint. The same characters from the first book, Skye and Nick, return for more adventures. This book also ends with a continuing story in book three, but I would not expect anything less from a trilogy. I anxiously await the third book to see how Ms. Blush finishes out the series. This book can be read as a stand alone, but book one is also very good. I highly recommend reading both...then finishing up with the third!

In Shadow is the second book showcasing Nick and Skye's relationship and was a sexy, hot (OH SO HOT), and enjoyable read. I thoroughly enjoyed In Danger, their first book, and In Shadow was no different. Although they are technically stand alone stories, I love that we get to see how their relationship is progressing and how they handle the struggles thrown at them. Skye's undercover assignment brought some great surprises along the way, things I was shocked happened and startled to see.
Overall I can't wait to read In Chaos and see how Nick and Skye's relationship finally concludes.

This is about two people Skye and Nick. Nick is older than Skye. They both are police officers and both work undercover. They still meet up even though it could blow their covers. This is an ongoing story. This is gritty and violent. It deals with illegal MMA rings and the underbelly of society. It also has their relationship go into other places. I loved the characters and where they are headed. I thought the story was well written and if flowed well and it kept me wanting to read to the end.

I enjoyed this book despite not reading the previous book. It is a stand alone however I will go back to read the first to see where it all started and what bright Nick and Skye together. In this one Skye goes undercover as a fighter to see of sje can find the killer. Will she find the killer before they find her? Will Nick be able to keep his cool knowing he is not there to protect her? Great story with Great characters.

I loved that the story was made out of two sections. You get Nick's story and Skye's but separately. And I really loved that, especially because both parts were written in the first point of view, so the feelings were spot on. Especially the last Syke's chapter that broke my heart. Oh my God, all the feelings. This book will put you through an emotional rollercoaster. I received an ARC copy of this book through Storyorigin in exchange for an honest voluntary review.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. This story of Skye and Nick was great they a are police officers when Skye goes undercover. Another case with Nick Woods and Skye Walker with her role deep undercover. Like the first book in the series, you just can not stop turning pages. Although not a long read, there are so many plots and schemes, you will not be disappointed. I enjoyed every minute.

Undercover police woman, the detective who keeps her sane and the Russian mafia. Everything I need in a book! I didn't expect to become so invested in this couple but Nick and Skye have me hooked, I need the next book ASAP!
