Single alpha dad, Wood Joke Connoisseur. What's not to love? Problem is, Lance used to be Elliot's brother-in-law.
Elliot Rutherford has a hundred problems, and Lance is ninety-nine of them. Actually, that's not true. Elliot's biggest problem is his dark past, but when he agrees to babysit his niece, his brother's ex-husband becomes His Single Biggest Problem.
Mainly because Elliot has secretly nursed a years-long crush on Lance. Also because, at twenty-six, Lance is still much younger than Elliot is.
When they meet for the first time, sparks fly. With Lance, Elliot gets flustered all the time. It's getting more and more difficult to hide his crush, especially when Lance offers him kindness and comfort, when Lance sees things about him that no one else does.
But the closer they grow to each other, the closer Lance gets to uncovering Elliot's past. When he finds out, will their blossoming attraction be enough to make him stay?
So You Want A Baby? is an 83k word standalone non-shifter MPreg romance, with oodles of hurt/comfort, an adorable little girl, P-rex discussions, and an alpha who patiently puts his bondmate back together again. HEA guaranteed!
Dr. Rutherford gets his book at last. Elliott Rutherford has never forgiven himself for what happened at the facility he was in, undercover, and forced to do things he couldn’t live with after he and other victims were rescued. He has punished himself for years and his body and mind have taken a beating with his lack of nutrition and not seeking a therapist.
Elliott’s brother, Hayden, is divorced from his gorgeous Alpha, Lance. The two brothers are total opposites. Where Hayden was fun, full of energy, and a risky spirit, Elliott was withdrawn, shy, and not outgoing like his younger brother. But after the divorce, Hayden had disappeared leaving Lance with their daughter to take care of and his full-time work.
Lance reached out to Elliott if he could come and stay over for a couple of nights to watch his daughter, Elliott’s niece while he worked. Lance had opened a second store and needed to be there for long hours. Elliott agrees, but is extremely worried about being near Lance, for he has had a crush on his ex-brother-in-law since his and his brother’s wedding day.
When Elliott arrives at Lance’s apartment, he’s overwhelmed with the need to touch Lance and he spent the whole time blushing at the compliments Lance gave him. Plus Lance started dirty sex talk to Elliott and the man blew his load just by Lance’s words. Just to let you know, there’s a lot of dirty talk throughout the book with plenty of hot sex.
It was a slow process as Lance tried to bring Elliott out of his shell and the tremendous guilt he carried, plus the punishment Elliott did to himself by denying anything that gave him pleasure or lives a normal life. With the help of his niece, Belle, who was so adorable Elliott started coming out of his shell.
Lance loved it when Elliott would smile and through patience and using things that pleasured Elliot as punishment. Elliott was a submissive omega. As time went on, and Lance not giving up on Elliott no matter how awful the things that Elliot had to do, he falls in love with the man. Elliott knew for a long time that he wanted and loved Lance, but denied himself any thoughts of having a “forever” relationship with him.
Then Elliot broke things off and moved to New York where his clinic was even though it killed him to do so. The unthinkable happens, when one of the evil doctors from the Facility escapes from prison; heading straight for Elliott to finish him off for good. The rush of Lance and Nate heading to New York and the clinic had me at the edge of my seat. Then the gunshot was heard and Lance and Nate rush into the clinic to save Elliott.
I don’t want to go into the rest of the book or the whole ending because it is so sweet it should be read. I thought Anna Wineheart wrote a fabulous book, but for me, it could have had a little less dirty talk in places; the wood jokes were great but then got a bit old. Don’t let that steer you away because it is a really good addition to the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced read copy of this book.
Yet another enjoyable read from the Meadowfalls universe that Anna has created. I love that we get to interact with the odd character from the other series, especially when they are relevant to the current MC's story. Elliot Rutherford is an omega who feels he is completely undeserving of anything good in life after the work he was forced to carry out whilst at a place known as The Facility. Even when he goes to stay with his niece and ex brother in law, Lance, who is definitely feeling an attraction and connection to Elliott, he refuses to believe himself worthy of such attention. Lance is a sweetheart of an alpha, wanting to prove to Elliot how much he comes to mean to him and his daughter aka the most adorable little girl. We do jump straight into the relationship part of the story without the background to why Elliot acts and feels the way he does. I think it's worth at least reading Alpha in Heat which is about Jesse who was "treated" at the same facility the Elliot worked at. What does start between Lance and Elliot is so sweet and loving and I thought it was great how Lance used Elliot's process of punishment against him but in a way the omega wasn't expecting. There are also a lot of laughs with Lance's very inappropriate use of wood puns, often used to either lighten the mood or heighten it depending on the moment. Another recommended read for the series. I've been anticipating getting Elliot's story and he has a perfect match in Lance who knows how to handle him. It's also great having the other men from the series who are such good friends, brings a great sense of community and support to the characters. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
•*´¨)✯ ¸.•*¨) ✮ (¸.•´I am never looking at wood the same way again. LOL.
Lance made so many innuendos, I don't even know which ones were my favorite!😉
What did I liked about this book... The effort Anna placed in giving her characters a past that they needed to overcome and find themselves worthy. Take one ex brother-in-law and an omega who was only trying to help and you get a story that is worth it. Redemption.
If you have invested in this series, then you have a fair idea what Elliott went through. "Read Jesse and Dom’s story in Alpha in Heat - that's also where we first meet Rutherford", as per the author's advice. Elliott Rutherford's need to forgive himself became Lance's fighting goal. And I loved it. Big, healthy, YOUNG alpha determined to make an older omega his, despite the relationship that should have hindered them. Throw in great friends, some drama and comedy and it kept me glued to my seat and enjoying this book.
And, did someone say Phineas gets schooled soon? BOLO for his story coming later this year.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author [with another read from KU].
Poor sweet Rutherford. He totally didn't deserve anything that happened to him. I hate that he really felt like he had to do everything to himself that he did. He really deserves all the good things that happen to him. Yeah, there were terrible things in his past, but nothing that he did was his choice, really, and all the blame should fall on other people.
Lance is a good man. I think that he really has an interesting outlook on alphas and omegas.
I loved Lance and Elliot together! I definitely did not see who Elliot was going to up with coming! For me this is one of those stories where I can’t decide if there’s too much sex or not. I personally don’t like a bunch of sex in my books but at the same time this is one of those stories where I also can’t imagine the storyline written any other way but the way it was written. I felt so bad for Elliot, what he had been through, and for how much he beat himself up over everything that had happened and the fact that he couldn’t see that he was practically as much as a victim as the others were. I’m glad that by the end he was able to see himself better and realize that he deserved good things to. Lance was great!What I absolutely loved about him is that when Elliot said things to him that he didn’t mean to try and get Lance to leave him, he still never gave up on Elliot. A lot of books I read if something like that happens the MC’s will take it to heart so much so that they give up and I’m glad this wasn’t the case.
I loved this and can’t wait for the next story! I can’t decide if I want Phinny’s or Nate’s story the most next but I’m thinking Phinny cause I was definitely feeling super sad for him and I’m really wanting him to get his HEA and find out more about his past, although being that this story gives us a big clue as to who Nate will end up with I’m thinking Nate will probably be next.
~~~ I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review ~~~
The Meadow Street Brothers series continues with the story of Lance and Elly.
Elly aka Elliott Rutherford is one of the doctors from The Facility, who was forced to perform surgeries on unsuspecting Alphas and Omegas. Elly doesn't believe he deserves to find happiness with an Alpha of his own because of what he did.
His views change when he agrees to babysit his niece Belle, for his ex brother-in-law Lance. Lance is divorced from Elly's estranged brother Hayden. Elly develops feelings for Lance, but would never act on them as he feels unworthy.
What does Lance, an alpha, think of Elly, an omega, well, he really likes Elly and would like to get to know him better.
Theirs is a complicated relationship where Lance has to show Elly that he is deserving of love. But can Elly overcome his fears and let Lance in? He will work hard to prove he is worthy.
All the characters from other Meadowfall books have cameos, especially Jesse, one of the Meadowfall firefighters that has somewhat of a past with Elly due to The Facility.
A hard-won happy ending, with a lot of ups and downs.
Spicy, with some angst. And the baddies died too quickly. They really needed to suffer more.
Elliot Rutherford was a doctor at the Facility and had to do unspeakable things to the young people who had been kidnapped. He's had about as much choice in the matter as those poor kids, but he blames himself--for causing them pain, for even causing death in some instances. Once the Feds finally make a move and frees them, Elliot is unable to bear the guilt, and for years forbids himself the least bit of joy or pleasure, going to the point of restricting his meals to a few scoops of kale and water.
Lance Bakerson was married to Elliot's younger brother, Hayden, and even had a child with him. However, Hayden had grown restless and left, and the couple eventually divorced. When Lance needs help watching their daughter--for only two days--he turns to Elliot, and falls into instant like.
Elliot is attracted, but Lance is younger and his brother's ex, and having anything to do with him would go strictly against Elliot's belief he deserves nothing good in his life.
Lance has to work hard to get past Elliot's defenses, and we get to go along for the ride. :-)
I loved So You Want A Baby by Anna Wineheart. I was a little confused by how Elliot ends up babysitting for his brother's ex-husband, Lance. It seemed weird that Lance would ask his husband's estranged older brother to baby sit for him when he has only met the guy once five years ago at his wedding and hasn't heard from him since then. He doesn't know if Elliot is a good guy or even good with kids but he's going to trust him with his daughter. Just seemed odd. I also wasn't a fan of the name of the book. It just didn't seem to fit with what the author has shown us of Dr. Rutherford so far in other books. I do get that the title coincides with the the magazine article that Lance writes. However, I did love how Elliot and Lance interact together. They had awesome chemistry, and I loved all of the wood innuendos and dirty talk and how much it made Elliot blush. Overall a wonderful book by one of my favorite authors. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
When Rutherford agrees to help his ex-brother in law care for his niece for a few days he never thought anything would come of it. Little did he know that Lance would change his life in a way that he would never have imagined.
I loved Rutherford and Lance’s story. It is full of emotion and angst. The two are great together and it was nice to watch Rutherford come back to the land of the living with the help of Lance. The two men are total opposites, yet they fit together so well. Rutherford is a good man and once he lets himself start to heal; he can look towards a future. I cannot say enough about Lance and all his wood. One can never get enough of his innuendos and jokes. Lance is a great alpha, and it is nice to see the way he treats Rutherford. The ups and downs of their relationship made for an engaging read. This is another great book in this series.
I think this series is just not for me. Anna Winheart's books are a hit or miss, I love some of her series and just give up with others. I need to hang in there for Phinny which is the character I'm looking for the most and I hope he hooks up with Nate so I don't have to read more of this series /sorry/
I could not connect with Lance and his sudden interest in Elly. Elly had a dark cloud literally over his head, I understand the horrors but even Jesse who was the victim got over the past and looked for the future. But, Elly didn't, he stood under the cloud with thunders and rain and let it be. I just couldn't with him and Lance. The story was weak, and the ending with the bad guy being inserted there to add drama besides the one Elly had already done with Lance and his brother, it was unnecessary. I could not root for anyone.
I liked this one better than the previous two in this series. It had angst, drama and romance but I wish there was less sex. There was less than the previous books but still too much for my liking. I really liked Lance and Elly and I loved Belle, what a sweetheart!
The story was a bit dark but I think knowing that before I started reading helped. It seems most liked this story (series) more than me. I'm in the minority again lol I think I need to put this series on my "It's me not the book" shelf. I did like this one enough to continue on with this series.
>b>TAGS -- non shifter mpreg -- a bit dark -- angst -- more sex than needed -- likeable MCs... Lance & Rutherford/Elly -- loved Belle -- there should have been more with Hayden(Elly's brother/Lance's ex) -- some very sweet moments -- sweet HEA
This is probably my new favorite book from this author. Elliot has believed himself to be so very broken for years and was likely close to giving up completely. He was put into a situation at a young age without sufficient training or support and has suffered because if it.
I loved that Lance never wavered in his focus on ensuring that Elliot knew that he had value and was loved. He was patient to allow Elliot to open up about his past on his own time, and when Elliot did open up, Lance showed him an outpouring of more love. This was an emotional book for me, and I loved the growth, and healing, that Elliot was able to experience.
I’ve enjoyed every single book in this series and this one was no exception.
I wanted to hug Elly so many times. The things he denied himself and the guilt he carried on his shoulders was immense. It broke my heart watching him suffer but Lance was the breath of fresh air Elly desperately needed to believe in himself.
Lance was amazing and I loved how he interacted with Elly. He was sweet, caring, patient and had a very sinful filthy mouth that would make anyone flush. The things he said to make Elly flush beet red was so freaking hot.
Elly was the sweetest thing and desperately needed to be loved. Lance stepped up and did that. I thought the angst was going to be the whole ex brother in law and brother thing, but it was not and I was happy.
Elly was basically kidnapped and made to do bad things. He also had really bad things happen to him as well. Overcoming this is the overarching arc and it worked well. There was very little food porn in this, as Elly starved himself as part of his punishment of himself for being rescued.
Will Hayden, Elly's brother and Lance's ex, be in the next series? Will that be when we find out where he disappeared to for months?
Elliot was so self-deprecating and self flaggelating for his imagined crimes that it tugged and twisted at my heart strings. How can you not love a man like him??? I liked the way Lance made Elly divulge one fact at a time to help improve his self esteem. I liked that the alpha was younger and not wealthy and the omega was older with money. I enjoyed the incongruity. Between Hayden's return and Gautr's return, I was on tenterhooks expecting the worst! The rescue was intense! The conclusion heals all the old hurts and offers hope and love forever. Swooning!!
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review
A very in-depth story of how, Elliott Rutherford, is punishing himself for acts that he was forced to commit in order to stay alive while forced to work undercover. Lance, Elliott’s ex-brother-in-law is a protective alpha that see Elliott in need of protection. He is good at reading Elliott and giving him what he needs. Lance is young and Elliott is afraid. The portrayal of the characters and their antics caused me to laugh and feel profound empathy.
think I spent almost the entire time with tears in my eyes as I read this. Rutherford broke my heart. He was so defenseless and sad that he made you want to cuddle him and tell him things were going to be all right. I think he is my favorite omega, and that says a lot because I love all the characters in this series from Meadowfall. I cannot wait to read Phinny's story.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Rutherford's story. He is so scared, internally and externally from what he had to do at the Facility, and doesnt think he deserves anything good. He punishes himself in lots of ways, and this includes when he has the chance of romance with his ex brother in law. But, Lance of course has other ideas. This is the story of 2 people with very different interpretations of punishment. Another sweet romance with lots of wood puns from Anna.
Dr Elliot Rutherford has a guilt conscience. He got off unscathed from the Facility. His brother in law needed him to babysit his niece, a beautiful kid. Getting close to Lance is dangerous, more so because the attraction is strong. He is younger but surely knows what he wants. There’s romance, sexy dominance and a bit of angst when Elliot’s past comes back to haunt him. It’s a great addition to the series. Elliot is a very complicated character who really needed his happily ever after.
I truly enjoyed this story--felt so sorry for Elliot, caught up in his grief for years and no one could pierce his shell. Lance, a young alpha and his brother's ex husband, along with Belle, his niece, found a crack that was Elliott's heart. I had read several of these in the past and have enjoyed them all but I liked discovering what Elliott suffered from all those years ago. Great story line and characters. Recommend reading.
So so good😍. I enjoy this authors work, we have the same troupes that this author is so good at, may/december, family ties and yet the author starts with these and just creates something new and interesting each time. I was so engrossed into this book it flowed effortlessly and played with my emotions. The characters pulled on the old heartstrings and yet steamed up the pages with their interaction and banter. Good plot and will definitely go on the re read pile❤
I read and voluntarily reviewed an arc of this story. This is book three in the series and can be read as a stand-alone. This one is a hot mess but in a good way. Elliot and Lance’s book takes all the negatives that Elliot has been through and turns them positive with Lance’s help. It’s emotional, it’s a roller coaster, and it’s beautiful.
I absolutely loved this book!! I loved Rutherford, Lance, and Belle! I was so excited for this book to come out and I was not disappointed! I highly recommend this book and the other books in this universe by Anna Wineheart! This was a sweet and somewhat sad story, but overall was happy. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
At first I was not sure if I was going to like this book as I thought it was a little slow to begin with but once I read the first of few chapters I was glad I did not give up on it. It was a complete rollercoaster especially when talking about the facility and what happened to Elliott those parts where heart wrenching.
This was such a fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, amazing, tug-at-your-heartstrings, beautiful, heartbreaking yet hopeful, hilarious, poignant, emotionally charged, made-me-shed-tears-of-both-sadness-and-joy, slow burning, and totally awesome story. It had me hooked from the very first page, I would definitely recommend getting this marvelous gem for yourself.
Elliot Rutherford's life is full of self inflicted punishment. When he meets his ex brother in law again, his life begins to change. Lance and Belle help Elly see that maybe he deserves happiness. This is part of an ongoing series. You can probably read it as a standalone but there are a lot of characters from the previous books in this series, and some from a connected series.
