You all know me. I’m the bad guy. There will be no redemption on my path, only pain and suffering. It’s well deserved, and I will take it without a fight. For years I have created a monster inside myself, let it out to play and hurt people without remorse. My judgement day has come, and I welcome it with open arms. I’m ready for the bullet promised when this is all over. The only thing that matters is revenge on the one man who is worse than me. My father. He will die at my hands then I will accept what I have rightfully earned. Death. My Darkness is a stand-alone but best understood when read after Nixon, a Siberian MC novel.
MC readers will devour this book. It has all the markings of a gritty MC read: a troubled hero, a tragic backstory, a forbidden flair, violence, and of course, sexy times. We all love sexy times. And I’m a name nerd, so I was all about the names in this story. Hannibal? Althea? Yes, ma'am.
What lacked for me was the romance aspect. I didn’t feel the pull between characters. Maybe it’s because the initial intro felt told rather than shown. The book jumps around before you get your footing, so that may’ve thrown off the feels. This time-skipping was a problem for me a few times. I didn’t find stability before we were jetting off into the future. Overall, this led to things getting choppy and even frustrating. The lack of a trigger warning for a certain scene was a bummer too, even if we danced over it as readers.
Overall, this is a solid MC read for seasoned readers of the genre who like their heroes flawed.
I have been a fan of Joy’s books from the beginning and she never ceases to surprise me with her talent of telling a story. Then along comes Hann and joy not only surprised me, she blew me away! The Darkness is what the titles implies, but that is just a small part of these beautifully complex characters. Now l am not going to say much more because you really need to experience this book yourself. And, that is exactly what you will do as you read this masterpiece. You won’t be able to resist falling in love with Hann despite his rough edges and single minded task to set everything right. I adored this book, truly adored it. I lived every word and l know it will stay with me for a long time to come.
Joy Blood keeps producing and this is another winner to add to her collection. I was on the fence with this one because I'm not too crazy about reading a book where the character has been seen a lot already but I was in for a surprise. My only disappointment was one scene that really needed a trigger warning ! I can see where the scene is needed because it really sets the point about his "darkness". Han and Althea are a surprising couple and you are rooting all the way for them to make it out of the darkness because she has hers too to deal with! Lots of surprising stuff hiding out in this book and I loved every minute of it . Keep up the good work and bring on the next one ! ....pat....
Holy crap this book is action packed and from the minute I picked it up I couldn't put it down. I loved seeing the Siberian and Riders MC although I wasn't happy with the reason they showed up, but ecstatic with his it ended with them. Han and Althea are perfect for one another. I would definitely recommend this book.
This was a pretty darn good book. It drew me in started to lose me in spots thinking it was going to be predictable but then kablamo twists n turns that had me. Even had me shed a tear in a few spots!! Definitely want to read the next one
This is the only one that spun off the series A Siberian that I could find. Author said there was another one before this book but can't find it.
If you have read the Siberian MC series you know H, Han or as he was named at birth Hannibal. I don't blame him for hating that name but he is an awful person or at least acts like it. He has a lot of reasons for the type of person he is but he could have been a different person, a better person just not around his old man. Now dear old Dad was the worst of the two of them.
I really liked this book but a few things was never mentioned again and wish we could of had closure on those things.
If you like MC books this was a good series and this one book as a spin off.
