I live in the Midwest with my husband and two dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, babysitting her two dogs, reading and working puzzles. We have traveled extensively, but I much prefer being a homebody.
I began writing erotic novels with an emphasis on erotic spanking five years ago never dreaming that I would get published. I just celebrated the release of my eleventh title and am very thankful to my publisher, Pink Flamingo, for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to enjoy a fun career. While my earlier books lean more towards straight erotica that will appeal to only a very select audience, my last five books are erotic romances. I enjoy hearing all comments from readers. I read this as part of a group read. I like cowboys, shifters, and smut, so I had some hope for a good story. Unfortunately, the plot was choppy and the sex was confusing and luke-warm. The characters being mostly likable, which is a plus, but not enough to overcome the weaknesses. The blurb says that this is an extended version of a short story, but it feels truncated.
I'm told the author's other stories are longer and perhaps better.
Aislyn is a BBW looking for something new, why not try BDSM who knows she might like it. Man oh, man does she ever, well at least her master is all that and much more, with all and his Stetson. He treats her like no one ever, but how long will that last? She has no expectations, she never has, but especially with a man like that.
Gavin is a wolf shifter who loves the life, but he's not feeling it. He has been groomed to be the alpha of his pack and run the big ranch spread and from a pup he and his brothers have been taught that they can never mate a non-shifter because of bad past history. But when Master Gavin sees the new submissive in the club, he rethinks all he's been taught, after all he has about 10 years to find a way to make her his mate..That is until his father has a terrible accident and retires before Gavin thought he would and family and pack trump all.
Will Gavin give up his chance at his mate and will Aislyn accept her Masters big secret?
Get those towels out ladies because there are very hot moments in this truly intriguing story.
The prologue was not detailed enough. We don't get any details about Gavin and Aislyn as they develop a relationship at the BDSM club. Six months later Gavin leaves and Aislyn is left floundering.
A 2 year time jump and Aislyn's in trouble. In her shoes I don't think I would have immediately turned to the guy who dumped me...just sayin'!
Lot's of back and forth of them both keeping their secrets.
Romance genre: shifter; bdsm Part of a series: yes (Cowboy Wolf) Length: 119 pages
Plot: Gavin meets Aislyn at a local bdsm club, where he is her first dom, introducing her to various pleasures. He recognized her as his mate right away, but is also wary because she's human. Traditionally, that's never worked out for his family. He figures he has a long time before he has to go back to his home and step in as alpha though, so he wants to bind her to him in time so that she won't reject him. Unfortunately, he gets called home much sooner than he expects, and he leaves her, with no explanation, just a goodbye and "call me if you ever need me." Two years later, Aislyn finds herself in trouble at work, accused of a crime she didn't commit, and she needs him. She goes to his ranch, and Gavin isn't sure how he'll let her go this time. What if he doesn't have to?
Character development: Gavin really annoyed me. She's your fated mate, and you tell her nothing? Nothing? He divulged absolutely nothing about him or his family in all the months they were getting to know each other. And all because decades and decades ago, a couple of his ancestors had bad relationships with humans. I would be a little irritated if I were Aislyn, because all of his actions led me, the reader, to believe that his mate was not as important as his family. But I thought a mate became your family? It's supposed to be more than just a human marriage. It didn't feel like he really got that. Took a long time. Until the very end, really. But I am curious about his brothers, so I'll probably read more.
IT APPEARS YOU’VE MASTERED THAT HORSE AS SUCCESSFULLY AS YOU HAVE ME
What can I say---Ms. BJ Wane surprised me with this Cowboy Shifter story---but in a wonderful way. I loved the angst, the passion, the hardships, and the surrender that takes place. As a fan of this author, I love that she does series, and this is one that definitely needs to become a series because of the two brothers of Gavin, and maybe some of the ranch hands.
Gavin McCullough will reluctantly agree to assist on newbie night at the BDSM private club he attends. The one thing he never expected was for his wolf to become engaged too. But from the moment Gavin sees Aislyn Lankford, he/they are a goner!
“Frissons of prickly heat raced across his skin as his gaze zeroed in on one woman. His wolf stirred with uncomfortable aggression. Gavin quickly tamped down as every one of his senses went on high alert. Just like he had been told growing up, he knew, without a doubt, she was his mate, the one woman who was meant to be his in every way.”
The plot will have Gavin and Aislyn developing a Dom-sub relationship at the club and meeting regularly. She accepts anything and everything he has to offer her as a willing pupil and submissive. But, when after six months, he says goodbye, both of them are shattered. But more of this story and the mystery take place three years later. The one thing Gavin did before their parting was offered her his card with his number and address—and what a shock when she shows up in the middle of the night.
The story deals with a shifter who has always been raised that he could not mate with a human, and knowing that Aislyn is his mate, he is in turmoil. Thinking Aislyn moved on with another dom after he moved back to the ranch, comes as a surprise. Waiting her out to open up to him puts them both in jeopardy. What happens when she learns of his secret? How will he react when he learns of her troubles? Can the past be changed between a wolf and a human? One where there is a chance of a future and HEA?
“You’re mine, little one. You always have been, always will be, no matter what. Say it. Say you accept me, all of me, now and forever.”
“Yes, to Master Gavin, Cowboy Gavin, and even Wolf Gavin.”

Note: This book was part of an anthology, Cowboys for a Cause. Ms. Wane has expanded this story from the collection and is making it into one of her delightful series. The next book will be Cody, Gavin’s brother.
This was my first time reading a shifter series. No particular reason not to, I just haven't gotten around to it. I was recommended to this series and I bought Gavin's story since it's the first one of the series. Within a day and a half, I had read all three! Gavin, Cody, and Drake! I just couldn't put them down, they were very well done. Kept me up half the night wanting to see the end of Cody and Olivia's story. Then I finished up with Drake and Roz. This couple was my favorite. We finally got to find out what was behind Drake's emotional angst at accepting a mate. Roz was perfect for him. Her blunt and forthright attitude was something he couldn't ignore. The girls all have unsavory characters in their past that the men are determined to protect them from. I don't want to give the stories away, but these are cowboy stories, set on a beautiful ranch in Idaho, and chocked full of hot and steamy love scenes as each couple seeks to understand why they are so drawn to someone they feel is their soulmate. Of course, the men know, but the ladies don't! Great, quick reads with happy endings and plenty of over the knee action.
This was a decent book. Not too heavy, not too light, a bit of intrigue and suspense.
It seemed to me like this book was set into 3 parts: 25% - Gavin and Aislyn's time at the club; 5% - Gavin and Aislyn's separation; and - 70% - at the ranch. There didn't seem to be a smooth transition from one segment to another. I felt more like there was club time with minor details, enough for you to know Aislyn and Gavin had a relationship. Then, (after "x" amount of time had passed) I was transported to the end of her time at the accounting firm . Then I was at the ranch.
I would have liked more detail about their time at the club, or her life at the accounting firm, his life on the ranch, or the transition between the events. I was "told" what happened, but I wasn't "shown", or didn't "experience" what happened.
I did like both characters, as well as the secondary characters. I liked the shifter aspect. I would have like more of an explanation as to what life would be like for Aislyn if she and Gavin mated. Overall, I would go with 3.5 stars, and it was interesting enough to make me want to read book 2 - Cody.
So, I went for five. No plot spoilers. No potential triggers. D/s based romance, with plenty of sex scenes all of them appropriate and loving. There is also some swearing so if you are prudish don't buy the book. I was interested in seeing how the author would handle paranormal romance, the shifter genre has been so poorly written by other authors it's usually a hit and miss when you purchase a book. I'm glad to say that BJ Wayne handled it just fine, and my only concern would be that some elements of the storyline were missing, not really to the detriment of the book, but more because it left me asking questions the author never addressed and if I went into them here it would count as a plot spoiler and I won't go there. It was nice to see that Master Gavin from Spurs, who left suddenly during the series got his own story! Nicely set up 😊 There are no grammatical errors or glaring editorial bombs, but a little more detail would have been beneficial.
This is a good love story with a lot of twists and turns in the story. I kinda wish the first parts were written a bit more as Gavin taught his mate to submit, it was a bit like rushed and then on to the future of a corrupt boss' son. The part at the ranch is pretty good except she meets Gavin in a BDSM club and for the most part it is not really clear if he is still into Dominating her mostly because he dumped her... it could have exceed ten stars if Gavin continued to be Master Gavin at his ranch... a bit more than... she had it right when she called him Master Gavin, Cowboy Gavin, and Wolfie Gavin. Hopefully we will see some more of these two in his brother's stories.
This book ticked all my boxes. It is written so well that you want to cry for the female and the male characters during there pain, but wish you were her during the BDSM scenes and love making. If you like BDSM, torrid love scenes and shifters, this is the book for you. You’ll love the characters but you’ll fall in love with the gorgeous brothers. I’m getting number 2 as we speak. Trust me ladies this IS the book for you. It’s NOT the same old story line, it’s new and better. I know you will have a great time reading it.
Aislyn's first time with a Dom is with Gavin, a wolf shifter. He knows she is his mate the first time he sees her, but she is human and they have rules about not sharing the shifting secret to humans. He left and broke her heart but now she is in trouble and needs his help. This is a great story. This is is new author to me and I am excited to read the next book in this series.
Sorry about the punctuation and grammar, I’m dyslexic so I’m terrible at it and spelling
I read all the other books by this author of cowboys, and he really got me in to Cowboys and dom. I really enjoyed the story and I found it was a nice afternoon read there’s some of it which was very nice and I really enjoyed it and it’s definitely something I recommend. I’m looking forward to the next series in it to find out about Cody and who his love interest is.
Gavin met his mate aislyn and she was human and he was taught that humans would never accept his Wolf side . He also was Alpha of his pack and had to go back after his father retired. Two years later Aislyn needs a place to hide and someone to protect her. What happens next you will have to read ...I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I knew when I started reading this that it had been part of an anthology. What I didn't remember was I had read that anthology. Hence the familiarity of the story. But, the blurb also mentioned the story had been expanded. Not sure exactly where the expansions happened, but I did enjoy the rerun. Even with the expansion, it is still a decent bedtime story. Pleasant dreams.
Loved it from start to finish .. They meet in a club and he knows she is his mate , he figures he has time to get her use to the fact he is a wolf , he has heard horror stories his whole life of having a human mate. But he didn't get the chance before he had to go back home . 2 years later , she needs him so seeks him out to ask for his his help. Hot sweet sexy
Aislyn is in trouble and heads to Gavin, well he did say she could contact him anytime when he left her, will he be able to help her and is she willing to accept him as the Alpha Leader.
There is a bit of an abrupt beginning to this story but once you get past their fast beginning and ending, things become a little more detailed and the characters gain depth.
This was a great book! I'm hoping that Having brothers, Cody and Drake get their stories told. This was a emotional journey for Aslyn. It has ha fantastic HEA.
He knew the first he saw her that she was his mate but he also knew he'd eventually have to walk away. Unfortunately that time came sooner than he'd thought. Gavin and Aislyn are interesting characters and the storyline has the right mix of intrigue, angst and sizzle. Good quick read
Holy shiznet!!! What a gr8 story. It was perfect. Just enough Dom and Sub with a lot of story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Great characters and storyline kept me reading. Definite hot factor included here. I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys wolves and there mates mixed with a bit extra. LoL
But not bad. I suppose if it were geared to a younger audience of young adults maybe it would be better. But, BJ wane has written much better than this. Storyline ok. Just a bit bland compared to other works by the author.
Too short, too basic, a heroine without a backbone (and not because she is submissive but because she was willing to take scraps), a hero who didn't grovel enough and finally too short for a proper plot.
If his bite would change, then he didn't have to leave her at all. Gavin was just scared I think and not making sense. I wonder what's up with Cody, thinking he also found his mate.
I was so impressed to read this story by Ms. Wane and her foray into a new and different genre for her! Aislyn longs to be trained as and explore her submissive side and is paired with Gavin to do so. While their chemistry is intense, the sex scorching hot and their D/s relationship is perfect, secrets end it all. Years later, fear, desperation, lies and deceipt will bring them back together. But enemies will have to be vanquished, trust built, secrets revealed, lust satisfied and hearts healed in order for these mates to have a future! Well written, engaging and with two hot brothers I can't wait to read more about. This was a treat to read!

I had previously read the shorter version of this title was previously published in the Cowboys for a Cause anthology under the title, Trusting Her Cowboy and I loved it. So I had no problem reading this revised story. I still loved it. Ms Wane is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. The only drawback to this book is that even though it expanded, it was still to short for me. When you like a book, you never want it to end.
This is a great story between two people who instantly know they belong together. In this instance, that attraction may not be enough. Gavin and Aislyn's story is one of duty to family before love and it almost destroyed them. It is great story of how Gavin turned things around and put love before duty to family the next time he saw her. Their story is a very good one. It also introduces the reader to his brothers who I hope, will have their own books soon. They each have a story that needs to be told.
If you have read Ms Bane's books before, this is one is just as good as the others but if you haven't yet read one of her books, try this one. I guarantee, if this is you enjoy this genre, you will enjoy this book and most likely be hooked to read other books of hers.

An entertaining read with angst, instant attraction, duty to family, heartbreak and hot chemistry. Gavin is a member of a private club and agrees to help with “newbie” night begrudgingly. But when Aislyn walks into the room it was as if he’d been hit by a truck. He instantly knew she was “the one”. For the next few months they were together every weekend at the club and he even invited her to attend his ball games. Then he was unexpectedly called home to take over the ranch and his place as alpha. Knowing that his family frowned on human mates, he had to let Aislyn go. She was heartbroken because she felt the tug to him too. Two years later, she is accused of embezzlement when all signs point to her. She’s innocent, but needs to get away and heads to Gavin’s ranch because he told her when they parted if she ever needed help to come to him. Can he help prove her innocence? A great storyline and wonderful characters. I loved it!

A very well written cowboy-shifter-dom/sub and a book 1 in Cowboy Wolf series. A fast-paced and standalone book which is in a series and is better reading all books, but not necessary. It will keep you engrossed from start to finish because it has action, adventure, drama, suspense, intrigue, secrets, surprises, trust, chemistry, and love. This emotional roller coaster of a book will have you hanging on by the seat of your pants and not letting go until you have read the whole story. I love many types of books, but this one has a lot of my favorite types of books rolled into one. and I cannot wait to read more in this series.
