My name is RG Long and I've written an epic fantasy series I can't wait to share with you. It's called "Legends of Gilia" and it is going to be one wild ride. The very first one is called Sword of Ruyn and is available now!

I grew up on Final Fantasy video games, Dragonlance novels, RPG Maker computer programs, and Warhammer table-top gaming armies.

All this epic fantasy is probably why I have planned such an epic series. The Legends of Gilia is a 15-book-long series! Now I'm working on my newest series: The Origins of Gilia!

I live in San Antonio with my wife and wonderfully creative daughters.

Book Series Review

This is the absolute worst book I have ever read in my long life. It is so unorganized even I couldn't follow half of it until I was about finished. It's not interesting because there are so many villains you can't keep them straight. It makes no sense at all. I love fantasy but the fantasy in this book is so unimaginable it's boring.

I want to start off by saying, just because it’s an amateur written story doesn’t make it bad. I think all story should get a least a chance to read. That being said…
I am not a fantasy reader. When I’ve watch Lord of the Rings as a kid, I wasn’t interested as a lot people were. I’d figure it’s just not my cup of tea. When I read this, it felt like someone wanted to tell their own version of the Lord of the Rings. Basically if you ask yourself, what do you need in a fantasy world. Some will say elves, dwarf, goblins and wizards. All of that is in there and then some.
Is that bad? Not at all, it depends on how the author utilize it’s setting. For example, Cuno the Red Handed was honestly entertaining. The Wrents too were some of favor addition in the story and made them memorable. However, when we get to plot sadly favor character/creatures weren’t used to their full potential.
This book as three trilogies. This is a neat idea but it not use good enough. The three trilogies have a very simple execution on how it handles its overall plots. First there’s a good side and a bad side. Then there’s a Tribal side with a character that rises to be a leadership to gather all of their race into on mass army. There’s one big fight at the end containing all three factions (sometimes four) and our hero’s win at the end and then continue their next adventure of Gilia.
I noticed this after in the middle of the second trilogy. Then it repeats itself in the third. It’s a bit disheartening because you already know where the plot will end up even if a character dies or leaves the party.
Sadly even some of the character are forgettable even after spending a good amount of time spend of them. For our main character, he suffers from amnesia. In the first book there is a good use of the amnesia to make a good decision. But it’s only used once. Another one is when we found out that our main character is a plot and that there something connecting him to Redact. Great things, but not utilized enough to be outstanding character development.
With all of these negative I’ve said so far, there is more to like. The demons in this are very unique. They do show up in the first trilogy but then show back up in the third. But in the third they were used so much better then the first. They had character and more outlandish unique designs to these purple fire beasts. Wrents were really fun to watch when they fought elves. Cuno is a beast!!! Stink Runt was hilarious. The Veild ones…. less said the better. The machine used for magic in the third trilogy awesome. Combining magic and technology like that, I wasn’t ready for but I appreciate it. Blumes powers are crazy but interesting, building intrigue on why she is so powerful. The dragons!!!!
So yes just like every book there are problems, some more than others but they are unique experience. Some may enjoy this more then others, however, may despise this for its many faults.
The question is now, should you continue the adventure?
I say
Yes.
If you are a seasoned fantasy reader then I would recommend you stay away. However, if you are like me, then why not. There are things to like about this world and if you already read this entire book, might as well finish the adventure.

Great book!

I enjoyed the story as it developed from chapter to chapter and book to book. The writing was exciting and kept you reading to see what would happen next. Each character had their own strengths and weaknesses, and the interplay between each pulled you deeper into the world. The books had some issues with the writing that a good editor could clean up, but still didn't distract from the story overall. As the group battled against the forces of evil and traveled from place to place, some were lost, others added. Some still have untold stories or haven't shared their past. I look forward to continuing the story in the next book.

Great story terrible editing

While the storyline is fantastic, the constant errors in names and incorrect words and occasional punctuation make this a jarring read. I regularly found myself having to go back and reread pages just to know what was actually going on. Please please have someone edit before publishing!

To the fool who three years ago said it was the worst book she had ever read….what a fool you are. Great story, great characters, outstanding battle scenes, great underlying philosophies. Unorganized as per the reviewer???? NOT!! Read the first 9 books and be ready for some great twists and turns. Loved it!

A masterfully crafted collection

I really enjoyed the well thought out world building. I also enjoyed how each not the characters grew in depth over time allowing for a constantly changing group dynamic.
I would recommend this to and fan of fantasy for sure with a very wide range of ages.

I loved this trilogy!

Here you will find mystery and magic. A grilled of people came together in a difficult time. Together they are taking on the troubles of the world as a odd family.
I can't wait to read the rest of the adventures ahead of them.

Well crafted storyline that was written in a thrilling manner with as much action as is possible even in a fantasy novel packed into every engaging instalment over the 9 book series. Highly recommend noting this boxset is 9/15 of the series. A 5 star read!

WOW

These stories are full of action, suspense and drama throughout. I could only read them for about 2 hours at a time. They kept me on the edge of my seat and completely wired. I highly recommend this series to everyone.

Not bad

This was 3 trilogy nine books. They didn't blend well between each other. All three trilogies could have been read separately. The endings could have been done better. But still a good read.

I had to DNF this set - aside from the fact that it was as boring as my ex-husband on his most exciting day, there were too many POV that just became tedious.

Tough read

Needs a proofreader very badly, grammar, syntax and incorrect usage abound. Repetitive in plotline, and villains, will get you through a boring evening.
