An enjoyable easy-going, what I would term 'beige' read. I love a fake-engagement story, and although there was nothing to dislike about Gianna and Dario or their story, the most colourful character in the book was his dog; Tito.

No struggle to read, it was the perfect palate-cleanser, while I decided what I wanted to sink my teeth into next, and I would happily read more from the author in the future.

Two strangers, Tito the dog, secrets, will love come? Gianna, photographer, on the rebound is done with men. Dario is hiding a secret from his family and is not happy in the family business. An arrangement made, pretending to be engaged for the next month, what could go wrong. Author Jennifer Faye has written a story that draws you in from the beginning, and keeps you interested and wanting more to the end of the story. The journey of love is never smooth. You are taken on a journey that will make you smile, parts might make you sad, but love wins in the end.

A lovely romantic story where the couple's slow-burn attraction deepens into an emotional commitment. The fake engagement trope is well-written with plenty of internal conflicts. The family interference which affects the couple is believable and adds additional external conflicts for their happy ever after.

Gianna and Dario are easy to like you empathise with their problems, which are convincingly written. Tito, the dog, is an engaging character who initiates their first encounter and proves to be a redoubtable matchmaker.

This is a gentle romantic story full of emotion and humour.

I was charmed by this sweet little fake-engagement romance! The vivid Italian backdrop of this story is a perfect setting for Gianna and Dario to fall unexpectedly in love. This is a book of dreams and taking chances, in that both characters are torn between the course they’re set on, and what they want their lives to be. Faye does an excellent job with characterization, and you know without a doubt that Gianna and Dario are good-hearted, earnest people who really deserve love and more specifically, each other. I really enjoyed how Faye tied together all the various elements of their lives – careers, pasts, outlooks regarding relationships – layering and deepening all the aspects of the story and really brining the conflicts between the characters and the forces that draw them together to vibrant life. Readers will also appreciate the appearance of a mischievous dog with a bent for matchmaking, and various relatives of both characters – including the hero and heroine of the sequel to this book. Heat wise, it is clear that the characters are sleeping together, though it’s not shown on the page or described. Overall, the emotional development of the characters and their romance—and their happily ever after—hit the perfect notes. Bound By A Ring And A Secret is a more quiet, down-to-earth romance, and one I’d recommend to anyone looking for a sweet summer read.

Thank you in advance to the author, Jennifer Faye, for providing a complimentary review copy through Prism Book Tours. A positive review was not required or requested. All words are my own.

Last year I became acquainted with the “pink” or rather ROMANCE line of Harlequin through author Jennifer Faye. That was The Bartolini Legacy. I LOVED those books and traipsing through Italy with the Bartolini siblings.

I was also lucky enough to read her Fairytale Christmas with the Millionaire.

As soon as I saw this book, I couldn’t resist reading it. Just as a note –> it is the first book of a two-book set (the back page as this listed as part one of a duet). The cover is just absolutely adorable with that sweet dog! OMG so beautiful!

This is a terrific little beach read, even if I didn’t read it at the beach. The short chapters and easy flow kept this at a steady pace and didn’t lag. I didn’t even know I was finished until I closed the book.

While the fake romances can be cringe-worthy, there was some sweetness in this quirky, yet adorable read that I couldn’t put down for any length of time.

The two main characters – Dario and Gianna were adorable, after the awkward meeting. Franco tried my patient and I wasn’t sure what to make of Carla. One of the best “supporting” characters was … yes, Tito the dog! How handsome and sweet was he?

If Dario had rented the house (and asked for extra time) – why the confusion? Gianna is home after her “almost” fiancé, Naldo, returns to his ex-girlfriend. What a burn and what a bum! She’s also quit her job.

Gianna first meets a cute dog and he seemingly follows her back to her place. She isn’t there long before learning that someone else has been staying there – Dario Marchello. She learns that Tito (the dog) belongs to Dario. And, although he was only there for a month, it turned out that Dario wanted an extra month. He called, gotten the extra month. Gianna got the call, but reception was spotty, which leads to confusion.

I will admit that Dario had to win me over a bit due to his attitude about the house. After all, it was Gianna’s and after offering him a refund, he still insisted on staying? He didn’t want to share it, but he really can’t ask her to leave.

The two come to a compromise – he stays in the smaller guesthouse and Gianna has her home to herself, well, except for when Tito visits.

Dario is grateful as he hopes it will help him in finishing his book. He is intrigued by Gianna and her story. But, it is clear he is attracted to her.

It isn’t long until her cousin visits and his brother comes calling. And, as stated – Dario and Gianna are Bound by a Ring and a Secret. They are presumed engaged, and Dario decides to go with it.

He feels it would explain his presence at Gianna’s villa. He knows it is wrong, but he wants to be able to finish his follow up for his best-seller first book. It is only for a month though. And, Faye also seems to set up book #2 for Carla and Franco with this scene … well, so it seems.

Dario relishes the relationship idea and Gianna seems to, though they do play it real at times – they, or rather Gianna, knows the boundaries. And, after being with Dario, Gianna realizes she was unhappy with Naldo and made excuses for it.

As Dario is stuck, Gianna offers to read the book for him, and he agrees. While she loves it, there are some things it needs. Dario doesn’t want the suggestions though.

But, their ruse begins to blossom as more people find out.

Dario and Gianna suffer a slight setback which doesn’t last. But, it isn’t because he is upset with her – he’s suddenly got the spark he needs for his revisions and he finishes early, with much thanks to Gianna.

In appreciation and to further the ruse, Dario gets Gianna a ring, which she refuses. She later accepts it as a “thank you” gift.

And, she begins to feel everything is right with Dario, even after they’re invited to his grandparents’ anniversary party. Everyone around them can see the attraction, except Gianna is oblivious. His grandfather doesn’t think too much of Gianna though. But, Dario is beginning to wonder if he shouldn’t shift the fake romance into a real one.

It is at his grandparents’ party that everything comes together and falls apart as well. Dario finally makes some revelations – good and accidental (bad) which causes some tension towards the end of the book. And, the reader learns about an issue between the Marchello family and Carla’s family (or rather her father). I can’t wait to explore that in the second book.

This is definitely a clean read romance, there is an “off-page scene” that is alluded to. And, as is normal for her writing in this line, Faye is very discrete about the scenes. She conveys the simple message while not going into details. There is also NO foul language at all. While the romance line isn’t steamy or tawdry, this particular book was one of the cleanest ones I’ve read. Not that I didn’t enjoy the other books she has written, this one was definitely much better.

On a personal note, one thing that was very close to home for me was a quote on page 173 when Dario was congratulating Gianna on an achievement. It was something my mom always told me growing up, and even now as an adult – “I always believed you can do whatever you set your mind to”. Those were, have been, and are currently the EXACT words my mom uses to encourage me and praise me. I found it very interesting. Oh, and like Gianna, my favorite color is purple too.

Dario is correct about writing – you cannot give it up. It becomes part of who you are – whether you’re published or not. And, that resonated with me so much because I have always believed it.

Unlike the The Bartolini Legacy, this story was wrapped up by the end of the book which I definitely appreciated.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet, beautiful, charming, and at times inspiring little read. Faye has a real best-seller here in time for the summer!

While I have other older Harlequin books and some discontinued series, I didn’t have any ROMANCE ones. And, Faye’s books are the only books of the line that I own.

Fans of the author’s romance line, and those who enjoyed the The Bartolini Legacy, are sure to enjoy this book! I definitely enjoy seeing her romance titles and she is one of my “go-to” authors of the line. Her vivid descriptions make me feel like a tourist in Italy any time of the year.

Jennifer Faye’s Bound by a Ring and a Secret is a charming, emotional and uplifting contemporary romance that will sweep readers away to Lake Como’s majestic beauty.

Photographer Gianna has had it with men! Having been disappointed in love one time too many, a determined Gianna vows to put her heart firmly under lock and key and to not allow any man to breach the iron-clad defenses she has erected around her heart. Nothing and nobody is going to dissuade her from her plan to remain single – until she retreats to her villa on the shores of Lake Como and finds a gorgeous man in her house! However, little does Gianna realise that there are further surprises in store for her…

Gianna was shocked when she found handsome Dario renting out her house. Having come to her villa to keep the world at bay, Gianna wasn’t expecting company – even if Dario is very easy on the eye. Gianna wants to lie low for a while, but when her unexpected housemate is mistaken for her fiancé, she cannot help but wonder whether a fake engagement could help get her out of the very tight spot she has found herself in!

As luck would have it, a fake fiancée would also help to make things easier for Dario and he has no qualms about agreeing to be Gianna’s betrothed for a while. As the two of them find themselves getting closer and closer, it soon transpires that there is nothing remotely fake about their feelings for one another…

Will Dario and Gianna take a chance on love? Or will they let this unexpected chance at happiness slip through their fingers?

Jennifer Faye has done it again! Bound by a Ring and a Secret is a sweet, sassy and sparkling contemporary romance that tugs at the heartstrings and tickles the funny bone. Dramatic, poignant and a joy from start to finish, Bound by a Ring and a Secret features two fantastic characters whose explosive chemistry, flirty banter and touching love story will enchant readers and keep them turning the pages.

An enjoyable romantic tale that is hard to resist, Jennifer Faye’s Bound by a Ring and a Secret is another one of her books going straight to my keeper shelf.

What a terrific story! It’s always a treat when an author you read writes about…an author! You can tell the gut-wrenching feelings that Dario experiences, about his book, are true and come from the heart…or should I have said gut?

Right from the start, Gianna Cappellini struck me as strong but hurting. She arrives at her home in the Italian village of Gemma, to lick her wounds you might say, and the first thing we read about her doing is dodging her cousin. If anyone has a big, extended family – with roots in whatever nationality that binds you – you will understand exactly what Gianna is trying to do. Of course, she runs into an adorable pup, and his gorgeous owner, Dario Marchello, IN HER HOUSE (!) and loveable chaos ensues.

Dario is also using Gianna’s house as a hideaway – from his own family, from his “day” job – as he works on his second novel, in secret. He has a nom de plume so that the world has no idea who he really is. He also has a major case of writer’s block. If you guess that Gianna can help him with this, you’d be correct.

I loved how their relationship unfolded and developed. They were both wonderful personalities and not only worked together to help each other but they also had much give and take (can’t really call it arguing; maybe bickering!) between them to help them figure out their road to an HEA.

And their families…hooboy, do I know these people! But the family dynamics make it fun to read as it gave me some characters to not like, at all. Don’t get me started on a hilarious, and adorable, matchmaking dog named Tito. Warm, funny, heartbreaking, amazing story that I read straight thru in one very late night. I highly recommend.

Bound by a Ring and a Secret by Jennifer Faye is a classic Harlequin Romance love story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Being Italian and having it set in Italy at Lake Como and small villages nearby was the icing on the cake.

The characters were lost and found themselves through love, and Dario’s dog Tito added another layer to the story. Gianna and Dario hit it off after their unexpected initial meeting and got along well together. They were supportive when the other needed it, especially since they had hard decisions to make regarding their careers.

Ms. Faye deftly weaved several storylines together nicely—family and friends, family businesses and history, family expectations, selflessness, secrets, romance, loving, and love. Dario came from a dysfunctional family and couldn’t see himself ever falling in love, marrying, and having a family. Gianna has two failed engagements and doesn’t see marriage in her future. Why would they drum up a fake engagement with each other?

I liked that Gianna had the support of her cousin, Carla, although Carla had her own family issues to deal with. The descriptions of the homes, the towns, and the food drew me in and made me feel like I was there.

Ms. Faye provided a nice closure and a wonderful portrayal of the happily ever after. I enjoyed the epilogue, which took place several weeks after the story ends and hints at what may come. I look forward to reading the next book in this series, Falling For Her Convenient Groom. The cover was beautifully depicted.

Ms. Faye is a fairly new to me author since I had previously only read one of her other books, and that was seven years ago. I look forward to reading more of her books and don’t plan to wait to pick up her next book!

Bound by a Ring and a Secret is the first book in the new Wedding Bells at Lake Como series. This was a new-to-me author, and I am so glad I discovered her work. The story was short but was written beautifully with charming and easy-to-love characters. Even though it was short, the storyline was developed, and the pacing was perfect.
Gianna returns to her villa on Lake Como with no job after her *almost* fiancé, who was also her boss, returns to his ex-girlfriend. She is surprised to find her house is being rented by Dario, a writer, and his lovable dog Tito. Dario was on vacation and wanted solitude while he struggled to finish his second book. When Gianna’s cousin Carla arrives, she assumes Dario is Gianna’s fiancé which sets off the family gossip channels since she recognizes who Dario’s family is. Dario and Gianna agree to carry on with the fake engagement except things began to feel real for them both. They both offer encouragement and support to each other in their individual interest, which is what they both lacked prior to meeting each other.
This was a heart-warming story full of friendship, encouragement, new opportunities, overbearing families, and romance. The main characters were genuine and easy to fall in love with. The author set up the next series in the book featuring Carla and Dario’s brother Franco. I cannot wait to read their story because they have caught my interest in this book.

Another great read by Jennifer Faye. I loved the story of Dario writing a book and how she shows what authors go through with writer's block. We get to see into an author's life. Gianna comes home to her villa after a bad break up and finds Dario there. She forgot she rented her villa to him. He tells her he has to stay because the quiet and beauty of the place help him with his writing. His family does not know he is a author. Her family does not know she has broken up with another man. So they pretend they are engaged so their families will not bother them. They start to take in the beauty of Lake Como and really get to know each other. She encourages him in his writing, even reading his manuscript and offering suggestions. He encourages her in her side business of wildlife photography. She has dreamed of opening a studio and selling her photos but knows she doesn't have the money. I enjoyed the scenes where she meets his stuffy, rich family. She really stands up for herself. This is a story of one person who doesn't believe true love exists and one who has given up on love and how they find the truth of what they mean to each other. I recommend this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Theirs was a meeting by miscommunication. Their fake engagement was an accident they didn't correct and both are searching for the same thing. Though neither one know it.

Dario is a secret writer and renting out Gianna's home to work on his book, away from his family's business and their disapproval. Gianna has come home early due to her heartbreak from her ex and because she mixed business with pleasure, also quit her job. Dario and Gianna now must work out their temporary living arrangements and all is going well until Gianna's cousin mistakes Dario for Gianna's fiancé.

Well, a fake engagement seems like the answer they both believe will give each other the peace they so desire. Or so they think. What it really does is have them living a lie that they must keep up with appearances and trying not to get their hearts broken in the process.

This was a cute romance that shows how when you are trying to outsmart others, you end up outsmarting yourself.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

When photographer Gianna Capillini returns to Lake Como she is really finished with men. The one she thought was "perfect" decided to go back to his ex. How is she going to explain to her Cousin Carla that things did not work out? She will tell her but maybe wait a day or so.

After arriving at her home she finds that it is occupied. She forgot that she had rented it out as she needs the money for the upkeep and expenses and had allowed businessman Dario Marchello to stay another month.

Confused and annoyed as he does have a signed contract Dario says he will spend the remaining time in the guesthouse. Seems innocent as can be, doesn't it? Well when they go into town and bump into her cousin, Carla she just assumes that Dario is the man she is going to marry.

Dario also needs an excuse why he is away from the company his family runs and being engaged seems to fit perfectly into Dario and Gianna's plans. The only problem is that the engagement is fake.

As time goes on, each of them realizes they have feelings for each other but remember this is not real. Can this make-believe turn into the wrong thing? Easy, quick, and enjoyable read.

I swear I'll never get tired of the fake-relationship trope...

When photographer Gianna Capillini finds Dario Marchello still renting her Lake Como villa—and he is mistaken for her fiancé—they discover that they each might be able to help the other out. Neither Gianna nor Dario is interested in romance, but a fake relationship seems like a workable solutions for now (at least, until the feelings start to feel real...).

Jennifer Faye's Bound by a Ring and a Secret is a fun romance to read. With my favorite trope, a delightful dog, and a great setting, it certainly kept me entertained from beginning to end, and I enjoyed seeing how Gianna and Dario managed their complicated situation. I look forward to more Lake Como fun in Falling for Her Convenient Groom.

This story is the start of a new series about two cousins and how they find love on the shores of Lake Como.
This first story belongs to camerawoman Gianna Capellini. She’s can’t wait to get to the villa she inherited from her grandmother after not only ending a relationship she thought would lead to a future but also quitting her job because of that man.
Exhausted and anxious to get home, a dog catches her attention as does his owner, Dario Marchello. Imagine her surprise when she finds out the man is renting her home for the month. A truce is reached between them. One that gets complicated when the fake engagement they fabricate snowballs and feelings develop .
This is a story about new beginnings, family expectations, taking chances , and finding love when one least expects it.
A sweet story perfect for an afternoon of leisure.

Oh, I loved Gianna and Dario's story. Gianna quits her job as a camera woman after a breakup and returns home to regroup. She finds Dario, the person who has been renting her villa still there. They work out a deal so he can stay, but the attraction is instant between them. When her cousin Carla comes to visit, and not far behind is Dario's brother Franco checking in on him, a fake engagement is announced. They agree to go through with it to keep both sides of the family off their backs for a while. They share secrets, dreams for the future, they build each other up, fall in love even if they don't realize that is what is happening. Dario is keeping a big secret from his family, he is a author writing his second book, and Gianna helps him get through his writers block. After a Anniversary party for his Grandparents, all of the secrets come out! Gianna walks away when she realizes how much Dario's life is going to change. Can he make her see she is the only thing that matters to him

A miss communication means Gianna and Dario are both stuck staying together at Gianna's which turns into a good and bad thing, good because Dario has the opportunity to continue with his book and bad because neither of them correct Gianna's cousin Carla when she thinks they are engaged due to Gianna's inability to tell Carla who last relationship is over which is why she is back home. As much as I liked Gianna and Dario, Tito stole my heart, Gianna and Dario are so good for each other but are also so gun shy about talking about their feelings, which leads to awkward moments, miss communications as well as magical kisses which in turn has you continually turning the page needing to know will Gianna finally realise her passion along with Dario standing up to his family and how will it all go down once the fake fiancé story isn't needed anymore!!!

4 1/2 STARS!

Charming and addictive! BOUND BY A RING AND A SECRET is book one in Jennifer Faye's Wedding Bells at Lake Como duet and it is sure to delight her readers with it's witty banter and gentle romance. I enjoyed the characters very much and was spellbound throughout.

Gianna wasn't easy to like at first as she burst onto the scene and was a bit unfair to Dario, but I grew to like her and enjoy their connection.

Dario was a doll and I adored him from the very first page. It was a joy to watch him overcome his obstacles and shine on the path he always dreamed of.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an unexpected romance with endearing plot qualities and a sweet happily ever after.

It was such fun reading this sweet, romantic book set in the Italian village of Gemma. I liked that I could easily picture Gianna's villa with the pool, guest house, a sexy renter named Dario, and a cute dog named Tito. I liked the two main characters because they were very much surprised by ending up in a fake engagement. It was funny because Dario did not believe in love and Gianna had just returned to Gemma with a broken heart and no job.

I liked that everyone could see they had fallen in love, except for them. It was very romantic, exciting, and felt like a fairy tale. It was perfect and very romantic with a few bumps along the way to make it interesting. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Bound by a ring and a secret

Bound by a ring and a secret was a fun book to read. I loved Gianna and Dario story. I especially loved Tito the dog. When Gianna gets home she finds Dario there. Dario was renting her place while she was gone. What a surprise when she finds him still there. They both have secrets. They think they are helping by doing a fake engagement. Will that work out for them? This is the first book in the series. A great start to the series. There is so much to the story that I loved but I don’t want to give anything away.

BOUND BY A RING AND A SECRET (Wedding Bells At Lake Como #1)
By: Jennifer Faye

REVIEW ☆☆☆☆

I've read numerous Jennifer Faye romances, and each one has been delightful. In BOUND BY A RING AND A SECRET (Wedding Bells At Lake Como duet #1), Gianna and Dario equal adorable. This fake engagement story is fun and easy to read. I needed something lighter, and this book was perfect. I highly recommend this little gem for a relaxing afternoon or a quick break from reality. This was a fantastic book that had me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Gianna and Dario, but my favorite character was Tito, Dario's dog! I love how Gianna did not back down and stood her ground when she really believed in something. This was a fast paced story, that at one point brought happy tears to my eyes. Thank you Jennifer Faye for another wonderful book!

Jennifer Faye continues to entertain her fans with wonderful romance and intriguing plots.

Gianna and Dario were a fun couple to get to know.
Tito won my heart and stole the show.

Ms. Faye writing about another author, one who momentarily has writers block, truly opened her readers minds up to what grueling tactics authors go through, when writers block takes hold of their lives.
A fun, whimsical romance which will lift your spirits.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Dario didn't believe in love and Gianna had just lost a second fiancé. To buy themselves time for different reasons, they pretend to be engaged. During this time they fall for each other but don't voice it. Dario attains his dream and Gianna wins a photo contest. I liked how Dario proposes to her which she accepts. As a wedding gift, Dario gives Gianna her own gallery.

This is my first time reading a Jennifer Faye book. It will not be my LAST! What a great story with great characters. The characters were both at an impasse in their personal lives and I liked how Jennifer intersected them and then how they helped each other move forward. There was a lot of fun in the story line as well which made the story just flow easily. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Gianna is on somewhat of a break from men, but when her cousin mistakes handsome Dario as her fiancé things spin out of control. Gianna found that he was in her house telling her he’s renting it. Things got crossed and well she has a roommate and his dog Tito. How long can they keep this charade up?
