Karen Booth’s Blue Collar Billionaire is the third book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Heir Apparent series. It is a standalone read. While not necessary, reading the first book, Back in the Texan’s Bed written by Naima Simone will introduce you to the main series characters and give you a basic idea of what’s on the horizon for the series.

The citizens of Royal, Texas are abuzz with gossip and the upcoming Soiree on the Bay, taking place on the exclusive island of Appaloosa, owned by wealthy Royal resident Rusty Edmond. Bowden Construction is tasked with building stages and various structures on a part of the exclusive island for the event. Jack Bowden the owner of the company is overseeing all construction and is even a part of the crew. Lexi Alderidge is the VP of marketing for Alderidge Bank, which is owned by her father.

Lexi has had a rough couple of months. After her fifteen-year marriage ends, Lexi immediately moves back to Royal and becomes involved with her ex-boyfriend Brett Harston (At the Rancher’s Pleasure). Lexi was all set to marry Brett until he broke things off the night before their lavish wedding. Lexi refuses to let the people of Royal think she needs to hide and lick her wounds. So, she goes to work for her father. Alderidge Bank is one of the sponsors of Soiree on the Bay, and Lexi wants to check up on the progress. When she arrives, she mistakes Jack for someone else and then is immediately confronted with her failed wedding. Jack comes to her rescue by pretending to be her new boyfriend, and the two end up on a date. From there, things become fun and eye-opening.

There are a couple of reasons I loved Blue Collar Billionaire. The first being Jack’s easy, laid-back demeanor. He likes to get his hands dirty. He’s not afraid of hard work. He’s a millionaire who doesn’t have to go around bragging about it and making sure people know it. More importantly, he’s a truly caring man. Secondly, Lexi was a huge surprise. While only her name was mentioned in the previous book, At the Rancher’s Pleasure, Lexi was nothing like I expected her to be. Lexi isn’t snobby or controlled by money. She’s actually a little vulnerable and unsure of herself. She’s someone I would want to have as a friend. Finally, the third reason I loved this story was because of Lexi and Jack together. They truly complement each other. Their romance is one you have to read for yourself.

I love reading the various Texas Cattleman’s Club series is because all the books in a particular series are connected in some form to the overall series arc. It's frustrating for me as a person who has to know what they're getting into to not know what this series is ultimately about. I know it's about the Edmond family and the Soiree on the Bay festival and that's it. Though, I'm starting to get ideas in my head. I can’t wait to see if my thoughts prove to be correct.

Blue Collar Billionaire was an enjoyable read featuring a fake dating romance.

Socialite Lexi Alderidge is trying to overcome the gossip spreading through Royal, TX after she was left the night before her wedding. Working as the VP of Marketing at Alderidge Bank is the perfect distraction. As one of the sponsors for the upcoming Soiree on the Bay, Lexi heads to Appaloosa island to check on the status of the construction. There she meets Jack Bowden, owner of Bowden Construction, and sparks immediately fly. Neither of them is looking for romance, but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy themselves until the soiree is done.

Lexi and Jack's first meeting doesn't get off to a great start but quickly takes a turn for the better once Jack steps in to help Lexi avoid more gossip. From there, the two find themselves agreeing to essentially fake date. It doesn't take long for the pair to develop an attraction to each other or to give into that attraction. When their relationship progresses, the scenes between them are steamy and very well done. There are a few issues in the way of them having a real relationship. Lexi is recently divorced and was left at the altar not that long ago while Jack had a relationship go bad in the past that has somewhat soured him on relationships. Add in the fact Jack has had bad run ins with Lexi's father in the past and it doesn't take long for these issues to put a bit of a damper on their romance. Personally I thought there was a bit too much drama for my tastes before they finally admitted their feelings for each other.

The Texas Cattleman's Club: Heir Apparent series is a sub-series of the larger Texas Cattleman’s Club series that in total includes over 100 books. Each story works as a standalone with the connection between them being the club and side characters. There were a few scenes at the club and it was nice to see the familiar setting. A number of side characters popped up that make up the cast of the rest of this series which I'm definitely interested in reading more about.

Overall Blue Collar Billionaire was a fun read and I'm looking forward to reading more books in the series in the future.

Four and a half stars

Blue Collar Billionaire by Karen Booth is part of the Texas Cattleman's Club: Heir Apparent series, and Jack Bowden is the owner of a construction company tasked with festival preparations for the grand society fundraising event of the year. Lexi Alderidge is the bank owner's daughter, and while sparks fly when they meet, Jack and Lexi are aware that depending on who's asking, they run in very different social circles.

That said, they acknowledge the spark between them, and find that they get along beautifully in all the ways that matter.

Karen Booth's story of two people who've been hurt by past relationships who end up finding and fighting for the support and security they've been looking for in each other is a warmly satisfying read.

Good book about two people with different lives seeing past stereotypes to possibilities. Lexi returned to Royal when her fifteen-year marriage ended in divorce. Shortly after arriving, she got involved with her high school boyfriend; their romance rapidly progressing toward marriage. Then Brett broke their engagement the night before the wedding, putting Lexi right back in the middle of Royal's gossip chain. She now works as VP of Marketing for her father's bank, determined to bring his old-fashioned way of doing business into the twenty-first century. As such, she encouraged the bank's sponsorship of the upcoming Soiree on the Bay Arts Festival.

Jack is the owner of the construction company hired to build the stages and other structures at the festival site on Appaloosa Island. A self-made man, Jack moved to Royal eleven years earlier after his fiancée called off their wedding. He is a hands-on owner, most often found on-site working alongside his employees.

I loved the first meeting between Jack and Lexi. She flew to the island to check on the progress of the work and mistook Jack for one of his workers. Jack didn't correct the mistake until Ross Edmonds, one of the festival organizers, started commenting to Lexi about her divorce. Jack saw the effect it had on her and stepped in, claiming that he and Lexi were an item. After a bit of back-and-forth conversation, Lexi agrees to a date with Jack. Dinner at the exclusive Sheen restaurant gives them a chance to get to know each other. The sparks between them are off the charts, but they agree that neither is interested in anything serious. Dating and having fun together, however, are something both are up for.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Jack and Lexi develop. The attraction between them deepens and grows as each discovers the other is not what they expected. Far from being the snooty socialite Jack expected, Lexi is down-to-earth, friendly, and easy to like. Rather than the playboy Lexi had heard about, Jack is fun, easy-going, and caring. Lexi tends to see the worst in herself, blaming herself for things that went wrong in her relationships. Jack's admiration of her goes a long way toward changing the way she sees herself.

The more time Jack and Lexi spend together, the deeper their feelings grow. There are some terrific scenes of them together, having fun and fanning the flames between them. It doesn't take long for Jack to realize he's ready to give up his playboy ways for a future with Lexi. But Lexi's inability to trust her judgment after two failed relationships makes it difficult for her to believe that she's ready for something more. I ached for Jack when he didn't get the response he hoped for and for Lexi when she let her fears come between them. I liked her sister's pep talk and how it helped Lexi see the truth of her feelings. I loved the ending and seeing Lexi go after what she wanted.

The secondary characters were an essential part of the story. I was not too fond of Lexi's dad at first, especially given his history with Jack. It seemed that he was more concerned with prestige and appearances than in progress. But as the book went on, I saw a different side of him, and in the end, he turned out to be pretty wonderful. I also liked Jack's sister, Angie. She's protective of Jack, and she initially disapproved of his relationship with Lexi. However, I enjoyed the scene at Angie's birthday party as she and Lexi bonded over their divorces.

As for the overarching theme of the series, the Soiree on the Bay festival, the planning continues. In earlier books, there is a feeling that something isn't quite right. That suspicion continues here with an unexpected financial problem. I have an idea who is behind it and can't wait to see if I am right.

When it comes to matters of the heart Lexi hasn’t made the best choices as not only is she divorced but her next relationship resulted in an engagement that ended the night before their wedding. She has decided to put romance on hold and focus her attention on the job she has at her father’s bank. While visiting the construction site of an upcoming charity event that the bank is sponsoring she meets Jack when he comes to her rescue.

Jack may be the owner of the construction company, but he prefers to participate rather than sit back and watch. He has a painful romantic past of his own and isn’t looking for love or a relationship but what starts out an altruistic act to help Lexi out turns into so much more.

Both Lexi and Jack are cautious because of the past and have preconceived ideas of the other however they soon realize that appearances can be deceiving. Although they may seem like an unlikely pair they couldn’t be more perfect for each other.

This was a great read. I was sucked into the story from the beginning and was intrigued by the side characters as well as the main ones. The chemistry is amazing and I found myself rooting for them from the beginning.

The Texas Cattleman’s Club series keeps getting better!
I was pulled in to Lexi and Jack’s story from their innocent introduction where Jack steps up to protect Lexi from the Royal gossip-mongers. I love how Jack is persistent with Lexi who is once bitten twice shy about relationships. Yet when push comes to shove, will Lexi be able to leave her past for Jack? You have to read to find out and won’t put the book down until you turn the last page!

Karen Booth is an autobuy for me. I liked the book but wanted it to be longer. Some of the themes, heroine dealing with rejection and hero wanting more, needed more than a category length book. I still enjoyed it but would have been amazing full length.

Blue Collar Billionaire is part of The Texas Cattleman's Club Heir Apparent Series but can be read as a stand alone. This is the story of opposites attract and timing. Lexi is still reeling from being left at the altar, second only to her divorce after fifteen years of marriage. She has decided that she is not going to date for a while and just focus on standing on her own. That is until Jack Bowden rescues her from an awkward situation by implying that he is her boyfriend. Jack is a self-made man who built his company from the bottom up and is not looking for a girlfriend but when he sees Lexi in a difficult situation, the gentleman in him makes him step up. What starts as a casual, no strings attached friendship, quickly becomes a lot more but the timing is working against them. Jack is working like crazy to finish his latest job and Lexi is still struggling with trust issues. The story that follows is entertaining, engaging and delightful.

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.

Learning what matters the most...
by and1515

Lexi was a grown woman not some sweet little girl playing dress up and she wasn't about to let the rest of her wave at her as it passed her by.
She was over being disappointed and as far as she was concerned men didn't fit in her new equation.
It was cute and very annoying at the same time that her dad wanted to protect her but seriously Lexi wasn't changing her plans to just to please him but she was willing to compromise.
Why oh why did Ross Edmond have to be here? The last thing she needed or even wanted was to be reminded she was still food for all the gossip mongers.
Jack had been taken with the little red headed spitfire the moment she'd arrived but
he really could stand to hear the way that jerk was talking to her.
Then he opened his mouth and let lose with the biggest fish story ever.
Okay so they may not have gotten off on the right foot but he was more then willing to start over.
Jack had had his own life snafus so
he might not hold her dear old dad in the highest regard that didn't mean he'd paint her with the same brush as him.
There fake date was great but she wasn't up to sticking herself out there just yet.
And honestly she might never be.
She did adore her little sister nearly as much as she envied her but she seriously had no manners it was the weekend.
The last thing he'd really expected was for sister and his best friend would gang up on him and
all because he'd finally shown interest in a beautiful woman.
Unfortunately her sister's call totally knocked her for a loop leaving her stunned.
However Jack didn't miss a beat when he quickly changed their plans.
But by the end of their weekend together Jack had raised her spirits in ways no one had in along time.
Now if she and her dad could find some common ground she'd be a lot happier but she knew
he was more traditional kind of man and very territorial over how things were run but he was totally disenfranchising the younger generations.
Lexi was totally distraught over the fact she'd probably screwed up her life yet again.
But she was a big girl and they didn't hide from their problems or have pity parties.
Nope she'd face her issues head on.
He was it for her and she was going to prove it to Jack the only way she know how.

While this is a part of a series, you don't have to read the prior stories to enjoy this one. I have not read them. I don't normally read "billionaire" stories. I prefer a more common everyday type of protagonist. That being said, I have read some of Ms. Booth's stories in the past and I love her style. The plots, just like this one, flow nicely, the scenes are not overly descriptive, letting your mind fill in the blanks. Her sexy scenes are the same way. They are slightly descriptive without going into pages upon pages of detail.

Lexi Alderidge is the oldest daughter to Winston Alderidge of Alderidge Bank. She is back in Royal after a divorce from her husband of 15 years. She recently suffered from being "left at the alter" (apparently the book prior to this one). She has firmly put men and relationships on the back burner for now. She flies out to a construction site to speak to the site supervisor. She comes across a wildly handsome man who just happens to own Bowden Construction, Jack Bowden. Jack is too busy to date anyone, especially with this project on a tight deadline!

The sparks just flew off of these two characters. I am surprised that my e-reader didn't burn up! I adored the interaction between the characters. They were total opposites in some areas. This story was also written in my favorite dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the characters' thoughts really helped me to identify and connect with them.

I would highly recommend this story to anyone over the age of 18.

🌠🌠ONE EXTRAORDINARY DELIGHT🌠🌠
Scorching skiddles scooby! Karen dropped the bomb and lowered the boom, delivering up one incredibly bewitching, tantalizing, earth shaking, tumultuous rock-my-world wonder, busting down walls and bringing the heat, catapulting this bad boy to staggering heights. Shenanigans and serendipity descend in a flurry of unexpected events and surprising escapades exposing the dramatic twists and wicked turns unfolding, while attentive to the soaring ups and agonizing downs breathtaking in it's simplicity and beautiful in it's depth, wrapping this jewel up sleek, shiny and tight. Perception and temperament in every thread you unravel with each page, your drawn into this tangled web so intricately and precise, luring you deeper till nothing else exists, kicking this baby into the eye of the storm, blasting it into a tailspin with mind-blowing impacts, launching this gem to life spectacularly. The attraction and chemistry collides with such intensity, exploding with boundless emotions and infinite affections, uniting them together flawlessly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity with enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. Throw in 100% on point realism, raising the stakes with such graphic scenarios that are so colorfully descriptive and vividly detailed its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Remarkable job Karen, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.

My thoughts on Lexi's dad weren't all that great in the beginning with his snobbish attitude toward people who didn't have the money or background he had. Jack proved the type of man he was by showing Lexi how a man should treat her regardless of what kind of collar he wore. She gleaned more knowledge from him when she allowed herself to see past hangups from how she was raised. Jack jumped the gun, unfairly, with his announcement of his feelings and then being angry that she didn't feel the same way, or wasn't ready to voice those feelings in that moment, after the agreed to take things slowly. He got what she was ready to give - her honesty!! Her sister was a blabber mouth and needed to find some business with her own husband and kids...that were never involved in the story. Messy Mandee and her flair for pushing the truth past its boundaries all in the name of news...SMH. Overall, I liked the story and how it unfolded but was looking for more. I was disappointed in the ending and was not expecting it.

The pretend relationship is Jack’s idea, but both he and Lexi quickly find that a real relationship might be the right choice!

I really enjoyed this romance novel! It starts as a pretend relationship, but swiftly grows from there and that aspect really becomes rather minor. Jack and Lexi clearly have chemistry, and really enjoy each other. Both have a few hang-ups based on life and previous relationships, but all the conflicts are well-drawn and believable for the characters and their situation. Booth does an excellent job painting a world of luxury and fitting it into the Royal, Texas community that the Heir Apparent series is set it. We see some old characters and get a glimpse of some conflicts that are larger than just this book. The books ends on a perfect note. I really enjoy Booth’s books, and Blue Collar Billionaire is another example of her excellent hand at character, conflict and world. This book is a great read alone, or in sequence in the Heir Apparent series, I’m sure.

Jack and Lexi come from very different worlds. On the surface, that should make them polar opposites, but they’ve had some similar experiences that have given them common ground. Both of them think they’re going to keep this relationship as friends, possibly with benefits. I’m sure all us readers realized that pipedream was never going to happen. I have read the book before this in the series, but I almost think it would have been better if I hadn’t. I came into this book with an image already in my head of who I thought Lexi was going to be and it took me a bit to re-orient to who she shows us she is. And I liked her a lot better than I thought I was going to. Jack may have just become my new gold standard for #relationshipgoals. He has the chivalry of a medieval knight and that absolutely made me swoon. Now I’m curious to find out about the rest of the characters in the background of this book.

This book was an enjoyable read with good characters and an interesting story. Lexi is the daughter of a rich banker who is now divorced as well as left at the altar by her high school sweetheart. Jack is the owner of a construction company running the build of a huge soirée coming up. I like when they meet and he pretends to be her boyfriend. He’s such a nice guy with a caring heart. The steam between these two builds and before long strong feelings are developing as well. Lexi will have to decide if she can take another chance with her heart because Jack is ready to be her someone. I also enjoyed Lexi coming to terms with Jack having money. At first she thinks that he is just a construction worker but the more she gets to know him she realizes that he’s more than a worker and more than his money.

This is book three in The Texas Cattleman's Club: Heir Apparent Series and it is Jack and Lexi's story. I really loved this book so much especially as they are mature adults and life has not been that good for them in the love department and they have both been burned badly in the past. Jack and Lexi's connection and chemistry between them was instant and you could feel it sizzling of the pages but with what they had both been through neither want a relationship but when they decide to fake date anything could happen. I couldn't put this book down as I had to see what would happen next and it was so addictive. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by Karen Booth as she is an amazing author and writer and I am really looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.

This unlikely match is sure to delight! Book three in the Texas Cattleman's Club: Heir Apparent series is fast paced and attention grabbing. BLUE COLLAR BILLIONAIRE by Karen Booth brings us Lexi Alderidge's story and it was a whole lot of fun.

Lexi is a likeable character who though recently divorced, was also just left at the alter by her high school sweetheart. If she didn't have bad luck, she wouldn't be having much luck at all right now.

Jack doesn't think much of Lexi's type, but his soul forces him to step in and try to ease her discomfort by pretending to be dating her when her most recent jilting is brought up.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series for romance lovers who love a punch of drama with their romance. The Texas Cattleman's Club is always good for a scandal!

What another great edition of the TCC. Loved this book from page one! Lexi is going to the site where they are building for the Soiree on the Bay..While there she runs into Jack..He is standoffish and she makes assumptions but when he jumps in to defend her, she is grateful..But things are rocky for a few..She has been through a divorice and left at the alter. Jack was left at the alter years ago as well..They are like magnets..they are drawn to each other. But when Jack finds out who Lexi's dad is he is hesitant at first but that doesn't last long...The book is so good..I still think something hinky is going on in the back ground that just hasn't been brough forward yet..Must read..You won't regret.

I enjoyed reading this story. There were issues the characters faced that I have not seen often in books.
I liked the way the Lexi had to work hard to recover from disheartening aftermath of both her divorce and being jilted by her high school sweetheart. She also coped with returning to her parents' home after the divorce, and their desire to reimpose their rules and standards; she had to learn to assert herself to retain her adult independence.
Jack had to learn to open up to the possibility that he could have a permanent relationship with another person, other than his BFF from primary school and his family.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Lexi and Jack. Lexi just moved home to Royal Texas after her divorce. Unfortunately she fell in crush again and was left at the alter. Now she's trying to prove herself to her dad. She's taking charge of the Appaloosa Island project. She meets Jack on site when he saves her from Ross Edmond and his pity. He claims they are dating. She agrees to a date and finds that she's enjoying spending with him. Jack is the owner of the construction company and worked hard for what he has. There have crazy chemistry but he's willing to take it slow for her. Great HEA.

This is a great book about a woman born with a golden life and a man who had to work very hard for his riches.
Standalone with no cliffhangers.
Lexi may have come from money but her life is not all roses. After 2 bad breakups men are not on her list of things she needs right now. A hot fling with the Hot contractor is totally doable.
Jack has worked very hard and still does for his good life. He likes the freedom of dating but not getting serious, then she lands on his job and everything changes.
Can these two figure out what they want or will one want more than the other?
Could the rich girl and the laborer ever really work?

I loved Jack and Lexi, they are both down to earth and realistic adults and don't act like lovestruck teens, they have both been through heartbreak and just want to keep things light even though their is undeniable attractions for each of their sake they decide to just have fun and see where things go. I soo enjoyed getting to know Lexi and Jack and was rooting for them both to see how perfectly matched they are for each other if only they would truly open their hearts, there are a few will they or won't they moments and times where you just want to shake some sense into them and that makes this read even better! lol

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every book by Karen Booth that I have ever read and this was no exception. Jack Bowden runs a very successful construction business in Royal Texas. Lexi Aldridge moves back there after her 15 year marriage ends in divorce and she is left at the altar by her high school sweetheart. Jack steps in to pretend to be her boyfriend when one of Royal ‘s billionaire!s son approaches her and brings up to many old memories. Will their pretend relationship turn into the real thing or has Lexi sworn off relationships for a while? You need to read this great book to find out. It’s a quick and easy read and you will definitely enjoy it.

Jack was a jaded, divorced self made billionaire that owned his own construction company. He was working on a big project for some big people for a fair in Texas. Lexi was a broken hearted divorced/ left at the alter heiress of Texas banker’s daughter trying to get her life together. When Jack and Lexi met, he saved her from one of her cronies because he knew he wanted her. Then the fun and interesting journey of Jack and Lexi began as they started an exciting, emotional, intimate, heart wrenching relationship that lead them through confrontations with the past and with the possibilities of a future together. Fun read

Lexi is from an old money family and Jack is a self-made billionaire. And even though he is the owner of a construction company, he is often onsite and dresses for the construction zone. When Lexi first meets him, she thinks he's just one of the workers. When they end up going out on a "date", Lexi soon finds that her preconceived notions of Jack are so different from what he is like. The question is whether Lexi will be able to work through her past relationship issues in order to see where things can go with Jack. Thankfully her sister is a good sounding board for her when she is need of advise.

This latest installment of the Texas Cattleman's Club series is a wonderful edition to the series. Lexi Aldridge has been wronged more than anyone deserves but so has Jack Bowden. Yet when Jack sees someone purposely trying to undermine Lexi again, he steps up and pretends to be her boyfriend. This Pretend Lovers to Real Lovers story is a wonderful new version of what can go so right when two people are destined to be together. I loved it from the minute I picked it up and couldn't put it down. Karen Booth really knows how to weave past lives together in a way that makes you want to root for the unsung heroes in the world.

Jack and Lexi are both people who have dealt with the downside of being in love before. They are both a bit cautious and neither is looking at the world through rose colored glasses. After Jack is comes to her rescue in an awkward situation by intimating that they are an item. They find that they are attracted to one another but their past disappointments make it difficult to move into anything too serious.
