Two men rob a convenience store during a winter storm in central Pennsylvania only to veer off the road during their escape. The passenger is knocked unconscious when he’s thrown from the vehicle before it rolls out onto a frozen lake with the driver still inside. Each is unaware that the other has survived. Faye McKenna, a teenage girl who still grieves the recent loss of her mother, broods in her room a short distance away from the scene of the accident. She feels trapped in the isolated house that she shares with an abusive stepfather and his cold-hearted mother. She longs for escape and a better life. The men who survived the accident find their way to Faye’s house, each with their own intentions. They arrive at different times, and what they discover inside is truly unexpected. Things unfold rapidly as these strangers collide, each compelled by their limited view of the bigger picture and their ignorance of preceding events. It’s up to the county sheriff, Edward Toomey, to piece the evidence together and determine if it was mere coincidence or something more extraordinary that led to the outcome of that fateful night.
J. J. Mott is a musician and instructor who devotes much of his remaining time to writing. He finds reality terrifying enough and, therefore, creates fictional stories in which he and his readers can escape to a more palatable dreadfulness.
J.J. (Jeff) lives in New Jersey with his wife, dogs, and various other critters. If he's not writing or playing music, he’s probably concocting hot sauce from homegrown peppers.
Deadly Miracle is a wild ride from start to finish, and each turn is as unpredictable as the snowy roads that caused all of these characters to find themselves in the same house in the middle of nowhere. We see the events unfold from the point of view of all of the characters, which raises more questions (and definitely more tensions) as the fateful night progresses. I stopped early on trying to predict what might happen next, because nothing was ever what I would have expected.
It’s also just as good on the second and third times reading it. :)

I really enjoyed reading this book nice and cozy on my couch with a throw blanket and a warm cup of tea. Especially since it takes place during a cold winter's storm. Right from the first chapter I was hooked. The main character Eli finds himself in the middle of a snowstorm in a life or death situation. From then the story gets more and more interesting and exciting. I also love how the author jumps from each character's situation and builds the timeline and how they all cross paths. The story also has a supernatural element that I really liked. But the way the author ties all the characters together is really what I like the most. There are no boring parts to this story. It's consistently interesting and enthralling. I highly recommend you give this one a try!
I have enjoyed both book in this series! They are real page turners. They are thrillers that keep you guessing. The first is a series of short stories that keeps you wanting more. The second has supernatural overtones that we all would welcome in the same situation. I love the way Faye handles herself and how she learns to handle her terror and grief. The way she is protected from PTSD is a true miracle! Thanks for the great reads! Can't wait for more!
I loved everything about this book! It was easy to read and keep up with because you were able to read each persons account of the story. I read a lot at least 150 a year and this was one of the best books I've read this year! I normally don't rate books or comment but just could not help myself on this one.
Great first effort by a new writer. I especially liked the “Tarantino like” way the novel was crafted. I think any lover of fiction would find this book enjoyable
