The specter of his older self (and the terrible bargain he made to get another chance at life) has been playing a cat-and-mouse game with John Constantine for months now-but now the game is over, and it’s time to get down to business. Namely, the business of destroying absolutely everything that made that second lease on life worth living…
Still great. I’m so pissed this got cancelled.. is there some way to undo that? It’s clear Spurrier has much more story than the remaining two issues will allow.
John Constantine is being haunted by an old man. It's fairly obvious to him that the old man is his future self. When the old man appears one night to take Constantine on a dream quest, Constantine finds himself in a war between his Guilt and his Pride. Anybody who knows Constantine knows which side will likely win.
Simon Spurrier weaves another winner of a tale in this newest take on "John Constantine, Hellblazer", put out by DC's Black Label. It's a return to the original Constantine that fans of the old Vertigo comics knew and loved. (We're still trying to wash the taste out of our mouths of the godawful DC New 52 Rebirth issues...)
