Brittany Putzer is an award winning author constantly turning to books to escape her dull suburban existence. She can be found most days, exploring new coffee houses and bookstores to pass the time. She craves caramel macchiatos, pumpkin spice goodies, and tall, dark, and fictional men (preferably in gray sweatpants). When she’s writing, her scribblings are dictated by her character’s persistent opinions and generous hearts (most of them anyway).
If she’s not writing, she’s soaring through the pages of other fictional worlds. Because of this, she’s also a lady of the night court, a scribe with an alpha shadow daddy (she’s afraid of heights so the other quadrant wasn’t an option), and a mafia princess with a touch her and die king. Additionally, Brittany loves the excitement of book conventions, both as a writer and a reader, where she loves to build everlasting friendships and eat tons of nachos and margaritas.

Feathered Dreams is an YA easy read for those who are fans of the bachelor, but royalty style. Ann is smart, and quick witted which makes her a likeable character. Her relationship with Prince Christian does show some concern when he is violent against her for no good reason (though there is never a good reason for violence). I was hoping Ann would take a firmer stand than she did in the book since Prince Christian does have some of his own issues to deal with. There was a whirlwind of emotions that sometimes kept it hard to keep track of the story, and I felt just as confused as Ann as to what the Prince was really hoping to accomplish. Ann’s relationship with his brother though is light-hearted, and they could be a couple I could get behind. Even though I still don’t like that the whole royal family doesn’t seem to take the violent action against Ann too seriously. If the author would hold Prince Christian more accountable for his actions, have Ann take a bold stand against violence, and explore her relationship with the other prince in her next book in the series I think that would make for a good tale.

Such a cute story. I love that Ann has a passion for her chickens. I could see this played out as a hallmark movie. Fun, clean and leaves you wanting to know what happens next.

I am usually into darker romance and twisted stories. But I was recommended this book by my bestie Kat and I am SO GLAD I read it. So, the author does an amazing job of building this reality for you. There isn't a part of the kingdom or the world that leaves you questioning the author. I feel like I am living in this world and I want to be royalty. She painted the picture perfectly and has great character development through out! Highly recommend

Exciting read

Such a fun read. I honestly went into this story expecting one thing and being shocked with something else. Feathered Dreams is a page turner and I couldn't put it down. I'm excited to see what happens in book 2.

Set amongst the backdrop of a Cinderella-like fairytale, where girls are presented to a prince and he gets to choose which one to marry, Putzer gives us a modern, fun, fast-paced fairy tale to thoroughly enjoy.

It will come as no surprise to those who know me that my favorite part of the book was Ann, our determined heroine who stands up for herself, animals, and equality. She stands her ground, shows no fear in the face of authority figures and speaks her mind when others would stay quiet. At one point she says “I am not letting one man make me question myself and who I am,” and I loved this so much. She’s totally unafraid to be a woman—period products and all—and to be strong and entrepreneurial.

I enjoyed reading Ann’s story. This is a great book to snuggle up on a cold night with a glass of wine/tea/whatever and just enjoy. I do wish I’d had a bit more time to enjoy some of the moments, the fast-paced nature sometimes was too fast for me, but if that’s your thing then you’ll love this book.

My other favorite part of this book (yes, I’m allowed two) is the chickens. There aren’t enough books with adorable chickens, am I right? There’s a great secondary plot of animal rights and Ann works hard to get the chickens to be treated with the kindness and respect they deserve. And there’s one moment, which when you’ve read it you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about, where something happens to a chicken and I literally cried, folks, I cried (and I’m not much of a crier).

There’s also a love triangle, some cool friendships, and some twists and turns. The ending was abrupt and questions are left unanswered, and I personally would have liked a little more from the ending, but anyways, just prepare for needing to dive into book two straight away if you want answers.

Basically, if you like fast paced, fun fairytale type stories with a strong protagonist and a few adorable chickens, this is the story for you.

First this is not my usual genre. I am more of a cookbook, parenting book, and not a series kind of pace these days. It has taken me over 17 years to finish a series 😅 With that being said this book starts off sweet and moves through events pretty fast. I already joined Team Ryan. 😘 A couple of events took me by surprise, but the twist has me ready for book 2 😃. I hate to admit I am a sucker for Cinderella stories. I hope this series does not disappoint. The size of the font and spacing made it easy for my old eyes to keep going. I gave it 5 stars for being able to keep my attention.

What a cute, fun read!

Feathered Dreams is a clean romance that follows a farm girl, Ann, who takes the running to marry the next king in line, Prince Christian. During her "courtship" with Prince Christian, she meets his brother Prince Ryan and seems to have more in common with him.

There was a short part containing violence on Prince Christian's part, and Ann seemed to get past it easily, as well as the rest of the family. I'm hoping that will be explained further in the series, as this is only book one.

For the record, so far I am team Ryan :-)

What I liked:

First of all, there is a chicken named Pecker in this book. I don't care who you are, that's funny...

There are funny moments throughout, such as Ann being disappointed when she came down for breakfast and Ryan wasn't in heels, and using a panty liner from her purse to pat at a wound.

The story ends with the intent of the second book picking up where it left off, and I'm excited to read the next one. Please pick Prince Ryan, Ann!

Feathered Dreams (Book One):

I love how down to earth Ann is. I also love how Ann and Prince Ryan meet. Gosh Prince Christian seems cold... But Ann standing up to him makes me happy! I like that Prince Christian helps Ann when she needed it, but he is still cold... I live how calm and relaxed Prince Ryan is with Ann. I hate that Prince Christian hurt Ann after being hurt by Prince Ryan. Oh My Gosh the engagement announcement.... Just WOW!  Poor Prince Ryan I can't believe Cherie did that to him but made him hurt Ann... The fact that Prince Ryan is always there for Ann is very sweet even after hurting her. Everything that Prince Ryan has has done for Ann since Pecker is just heart warming. Seeing how concerned Ann was for Prince Ryan made me fall in love with their relationship. But damn Prince Christian physically hurting Ann... I can't believe he did that! Holy shit... the ring, the kinds guard, Vinny, and the King! What an intense ending!

It’s giving ““The Selection”’s younger cousin, asking you if you have games in your phone in the middle of the night” 😆

It’s giving “you’re playing “Choice” but you have no real money to spend on it” - it’s giving you some good options, but only some of the time 😆

Overall it’s a good starter clean retelling, but it’s no good for a seasoned reader. If you’re looking for some more complex stories, check out Marissa Meyer and the “Cinder” series!

Couldn't put it down

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Picked it up on a sleepless night and buzzed right through it. It's light & well-written. I was rooting for the main character, Ann. There was good tension, and I could never guess what was coming next. I appreciated the "clean" romance. I'm looking forward to book 2! Pretty excited is a 5-part series!

I enjoyed reading the story for the most part. Ann is a fun, headstrong female lead while the 2 princes are like night and day. Complex, well-developed characters. Prince Christian keep going back and forth between being very interested in Ann and shouting at her or wanting to send her home.

This book is perfect for animal lovers who tend to morph their furry (and feathered) companions into family. As Ann views her chickens as her 'ladies'. She even names each of them... Pecker, Henretta, Whitey, Fluffy. She goes above and beyond to protect them and give them the love they deserve. While sipping her coffee and reading her mounds of books.

Although it is a romance book the content is very PG and safe for young adults and teens. There is one 'bad' word (A-hole) in the book but it is well placed in a highly emotional time .

In a nut shell the reader follows twenty-one-year-old, Ann, as she is thrust into an extraordinary palace lifestyle and she begins to see how naïve she has been, but at no fault of her own. Farming side by side with her father has always been what she has loved. But now she is forced to focus on more people and their obstacles. In the process she starts to realize how lonely she has been since her mother passed away. She forms new friendships and steals a few kisses.
