They even go on a trip to the other side of the world together, but he’s closed off his heart to her.

This book features a sweet second chance at romance with a dose of danger and suspense, as well as a visit to an exciting locale. First set in a small town in Missouri, the main characters of this book then travel to exotic and mysterious Russia. The readers of this book are treated to a crash course in Russian cuisine, famous tourist sites, history and favourite pastimes, all of which make this book even more enjoyable to read.

Maverick and Vera were close as teens until the day he left her behind to pursue his dream of being a famous race car driver. He achieved that dream, but a near fatal accident off the racetrack has left him scarred, injured and angry. When he returned to Missouri to stay with family and heal, he met Vera again. Vera was once a cop and is now a private investigator. Maverick hired her to discover more about his accident, as well as just who is the mother of the infant girl now in his care. Reconnecting with each other is bittersweet for them both, as it brings both regrets and yearnings to the surface. The attraction between them is still powerful, but both believe they are not good enough for the other.

All her life, Vera had faced many rejections and disappointments from those she loved. First, both parents distanced themselves from her and left her in the care of her beloved Grandmother. Then Maverick left without a word just when she had to begun to dream of a future with him. Now, she will do her best to help the man who still holds her heart, but she refuses to let herself dream again, even though the adorable baby in his care brings out a side of him she finds almost irresistible. After the baby leaves their care and there are repeated attempts on their lives, Maverick and Vera join her Grandmother on an adventure to Russia, the home of Vera’s ancestors. Both Maverick and Vera can feel the strengthening of their bond and their deepening love for each other, though neither will admit this to the other. Will they get their happily ever after this second time around?

It is easy to relate both Maverick and Vera. These strong, fascinating characters effortlessly capture a reader’s imagination and attention, and spur an investment in the outcome of their story. Vera’s Grandmother is a feisty, quirky and undeniable life force, and it is easy to see her influence on the life of her beloved granddaughter. This book, like the other’s in this series, is well worth the read and makes a great addition to any keeper list. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is such an awesome series. I love the fact that Alexa makes the characters like real people. Not everyone is stick thin and it is so refreshing to have normal size people to read about. I use to be like a little heavy like these women but am now pretty thin. There are all shapes and sizes of people and all ages and Alexa's books gives us that variety. I love the grandma she is just so fun and adventurous. I love the characters and the history they had before. The ending is just so romantic. I would highly recommend this whole series. Another great job Alexa. “I received ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.”

The scars are soul deep…

Maverick is facing the end of life as he knows it. The career-ending accident left him scarred and worthless; physically and psychologically. If it wasn’t for Vera’s annoying persistence he wouldn’t even get out of bed in the morning, let alone try to deal with the baby girl his best friend Rance dumped on him. Maverick and Vera have been friends since childhood and Maverick would have liked to move past friendship if Rance hadn’t also been interested in her.

Vera has spent her life trying to prove her worth to her parents and herself. If it wasn’t for her grandmother, Vera would have grown into a much different woman. After failing in her career in law enforcement, she is now a private investigator tasked with protecting Maverick’s family and their ranch from the violence that is threatening them. Spending time with Maverick and baby Izzy is an added bonus.

Maverick and Vera are very relatable and Vera’s spunky grandmother is amazing. I received an advance review copy but my review is honest and voluntary. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes clean, cowboy romances.

Hidden Gem!
This story is like “A breath of fresh air. That was what she was for him. What she’d always been. He just hadn’t realized it. Or rather had forced himself to forget it while he’d traded the fresh air for gasoline fumes.”
“You see these snowflakes? Each one is beautiful. Each one is unique. If God put so much beauty and care into something that’s just going to melt away, how much more do you think He put into you, scars and all?”

A sweet story, but in places, I felt the pacing slowed. I loved the MCs and the plot was interesting. There were only a few technical issues, not glaring at least, and none of them took me out of the story. If you enjoy sweet, clean, inspirational romance stories, then try this one.

Loved Vera and Maverick's story!! Little Izzy steals the show, though!! This was such a great book, I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next!!! The story took some twists I had no idea it was going to take!! What I love the most is that Maverick comes back to his faith in God, and Vera was the one who helped him, which was fitting since she's been in love with him for years! Such a great book!! I'm looking forward to the next one!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

I received an ARC to review: Absolutely loved it! Witnessing Maverick's and Vera's childhood friendship-come-crush enduring life's crushing tests and coming out strong and solid on the other side was beautiful. That God is a God of second chances was so beautifully illustrated. Throw in some intrigue, a crazy grandma, and her cute kitty, it makes for a thoroughly rewarding and entertaining read!

Alexa Verde has written an amazing story about love, but also finding our true selves. The characters were so captivating and there were some twists that I hadn’t expected. Maverick suffered some devastating injuries in an accident, Vera was determined to find the culprit responsible. During the investigation they both learned to improve their relationship with God.

This overtly Christian romance has a bit of mystery and suspense mixed into the story.

The characters are portrayed as very human––sinners like the rest of us. In no way are they perfect. They are still working on trusting God, thanking Him, petitioning Him for their needs.

And they are slightly older adults––in their mid 30s––but still trying to figure out who they are... what they want to be when they grow up... how they fit into their respective families... how to know when they love someone... how to admit it.

OMG... I'm already reading book 4 from a series that I'm really loving
It's been a freaking awesome journey, that's for sure.
Alexa Verde knows what she's doing. Her books show just that.
Her writing is sweet and beautiful, intense and emotional. Give it a go. Trust me.
Show Me Best Friends is the fourth book from the Cowboy Crossing Romances series and explores the lives of Maverik and Vera.
Maverik's life revolved around his car. Racing was in his blood until he suffered an accident.
Now his career is over and he's not himself anymore.
He's back at his parents' home with a baby to take care of. His best friend's baby.
How can he...
Vera thinks that she doesn't have a porpoise in love. She's not married, doesn't even have a boyfriend. So what should she do?
When she sees herself back at her hometown to take care of her grandmother...
Dayum... This series is getting even more amazing.
I'm addicted.
Perfect plot, well written, super engaging, and intense.
Each chapter was even more addictive than the latest and I couldn't stop reading it.
The push and pull game... The want and don't want...
It's sweet but infuriating at the same time.
Jeez... Stubborn much?
There were parts of the book that I wanted to slap someone silly... But then, it all worked out and I needed to hug them.
I can't say more without spoiling so I'm going to zip it shut. Lol
I can't get enough of this series and I can't wait to read the next book.
Perfect Alexa, beautiful and perfect.

All these Show Me stories have been a joy to read. This one was a little bit different than the rest because the story didn’t stay just in the “Show Me” state. This time the story traveled to a country I find fascinating - Russia.
Maverick and Vera, don’t just have to care for a baby girl that has been dropped off on Maverick’s door, but they are searching to find out who’s behind the mystery of Maverick’s accident.
They went on the trip with Vera’s grandmother to keep her company and not of trouble, however, it’s also a way to keep Maverick safe while trying to figure out the mystery.
What I found interesting were all the colorful descriptions of the food they ate and the places they visited. I loved picturing it all in my head. It was so fun to read because I felt like I was traveling with them.
Alexa Verde never ceases to amaze me with her writing. She brings characters who are real and situations that we can all relate to. Plus, she gives us wonderful words of God’s amazing love.
I highly recommend picking this book up. It will be an added blessing to your collection.
I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Show Me Best Friends is a book about friendship, second chances, forgiveness, and redemption. I liked the main characters, Maverick and Vera. I adored baby Izzy; and Vera's grandmother isn't your usual grandma at all. Maverick isn't certain that the accident that caused him to leave racing was really an accident. He hires his childhood friend Vera to investigate. Although Maverick had a relationship with God, he didn't always conduct his romantic relationships in a godly manner. Those are all in the past when the book starts, so the book is clean.
The plot has some serious twists and kept my interest level very high. The mystery/suspense added a lot to that too. There's a great proposal scene and a wonderful HEA and an epilogue that introduces the couple for the next book in the series. (At least that's what I'm hoping!)
One of my favorite quotes from the book is "We never mind doing things for people whom we love." I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Alexa Verde. Her writing is a joy to read. I recommend this to clean/wholesome romance readers, to Christian fiction readers, and to readers that like a little mystery and suspense in their romance.
I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this well-written book.

So, it took me a while to finish this book, and I just finished the final third of it, so that's what I remember the most. That being said, the story is sweet, with a dash of suspense thanks to Maverick having been in an accident that might have ended his racing driver career. Vera is his childhood friend and current investigator. With additions like Vera's grandma, baby Izzy, and even a trip to Russia, this can make for an enjoyable experience. Despite the constant self-doubt or second-guessing of the other's feelings, I enjoyed the nuggets of wisdom (to not live according to others' expectations of us) and reminders of God's truth. I'm really excited about Jenna's story, so I'm looking forward to it! ~ 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

From the US to Russia and back again, then back to Russia, Maverick and Vera, best friends since childhood, have to get out of their own ways to realize they're in love with each other and now is the time to make their love for one another known. I loved that Vera was so connected to her roots, even though she didn't come from a very connected family. I also loved that she was able to make amends with her mother. I really loved how she realized who was after Maverick, and whose baby Izzy really was. And I loved that Maverick finally found out what a legacy is! Great characters, destinations and a great read.

Maverick, who is recovering from a serious car accident, finds a baby delivered to his front doorstep that his friend apparently fathered. He calls his best friend Vera to help. Vera has recently left the police force and is back at home helping her grandmother stay out of trouble. Between the cat and Grandma on the roof, to traveling to Russia to meet Grandma's male pen pals, the story was a fun read, though it seemed far fetched at times. Add a little mystery--who's trying to kill Vera--and Show Me Best Friends was an enjoyable read with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader turning pages.

Show Me Best Friends is possibly the best of the Cowboy Crossing books... although I’ve thought that at the end of each one! This is a fabulous, re-readable series (yes, I’ve already read the 1st three books twice!) with marvelous characters that steal right into your heart and take you on incredible adventures that have you doing a little soul searching of your own. All of this with a beautiful romance and laugh out loud moments while you are on the edge of your seat trying to figure out Who Done It?!

They love and lost when young love flees to pursue other things. But none of it truly satisfied and no one measured up. When brought back together by an accident and what they think is a friend's baby tossed in the mix, how do they push aside their mixed emotions as they try to figure out who is after him? Of course, there is her crazy grandma to watch out for, too. Do they have a chance or is it doomed from the start? Read this exciting and enjoyable story by and awesome author, Alex Verde and find out.
I received an advanced copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

A Great addition to this popular series

Another touching and wonderful addition to this Cowboy Crossings series by this author. The characters will grab at your heart and make you want to cheer them on. This story is specifically about Vera, Maverick and of course a special baby, Izzy. Faith is pleasantly scattered throughout the pages without it seeming preachy. The storyline is multifaceted and keeps you engrossed through the whole book. Several spots where a chuckle or hearty laugh filled my room. A sweet, very clean romance with just a splattering of drama.

Somehow when I was reading this series, I missed this one, so it was gratifying to fill in some holes of the family dynamics, etc. The C.arks are a big, productive family, and we get to know them one by one. This time it was Maverick's turn. Maverick was a famous and successful race car driver who had been badly injured and trying to recover.

These are all sweet, clean romances with a touch of intrigue for added measure.

Show Me Best Friends

I very seldom write reviews. But, reading this book for the second time finally prompted me to try. Reason is beautiful stile of Alexa’s writing. And all descriptions of Russia. If you want to learn more about that country beside Red Square and some Russian words and food, this book is it. It shows no meter how hard life is, love is eternal and of course, everything is possible with God’s help! Enjoy, I did!

After being in an accident, race car driver Maverick Clark returns home to the family ranch to recover. He’s caring for his buddy’s baby. His childhood friend, Vera Tsareva, is jobless and home to take care of her grandmother and agrees to help Maverick find who caused the accident. As their investigation progresses and they try to discover who the baby’s mother is, interesting things begin to happen. A great story with some suspense incorporated.

Show Me Best Friends

This is the story of a famous race car driver and the girl he had loved for years. They both went their separate ways for a time and then he was badly injured in a car crash and she stepped in as a private investigator to find out who had tinkered with his car that caused him to crash.
