The easiest way to get over someone is to never see them again, right? So when my ex stomps on my heart and throws it into the sewer…I decide to spend my summer on the opposite side of the country.
And this summer is all about me. Mending my broken heart (screw all men). Figuring out what I want to do with my life (a life that thankfully does not include my ex). And trying to better myself (does eating ice cream count?).
But all my perfect planning comes to a halt when the sexiest lifeguard in existence asks me out. I have to say no. It doesn’t matter that he’s built like a Greek god, has eyes the color of the ocean, or is hotter than a summer night. I’m going to say no, I swear. He’s going straight into the friend zone. Although, I’m pretty sure he’d be more delicious than any flavor of ice cream. Can’t I put him in the friend zone after just one taste?

Yes, I did that. I immediately thought of Grease once I read the title. Did that mean I had to jump into this book? Well of course it did. I dropped everything like it was on fire and dove into this. Do I regret it? Not really but I do think the characters could have been better.
In it, you will meet Mila. She is all kinds of needy but who wouldn't be after they walked in on their boyfriend naked with another girl. Another girl that his friends all knew about and like better. So, yeah, her life was kind of shitty and she needed a fresh start. Away from California.
So while she's serving out ice cream and doing some light stalking on the cute lifeguard, Mila finds her new happiness. Away from all the bad and douche baggery of it all. Her ex was all kinds of mental and I'm glad that "his" friends dropped her of their little planet. They were a bunch of assholes.
J.J. was way better for her even though he was a little douche canoe in the beginning. Who cares about the distance if you are in love - YA IDIOT! Even though this relationship was all kinds of insta-whatever, they were cute... when she wasn't being super needy.
In the end, I'm glad that they both listened to their hearts and created a life together.
So entertaining!!! Such an easy read and a perfect summer romance novel.
I love the way Ivy Smoak writes. This book is a breath of fresh air. Simple and yet, something most have probably gone through. It shows what healthy relationships are and what a good guy looks like. Also that you don’t have to stay on the the path you’ve set up, that’s it’s okay to change one’s mind.
I fell in love with this beachy summer romance. Mila was dealing with a lot of trust issues with the men in her life and I really felt for her. She had overcome a lot just to get to the point in her life where she was attempting to carve out her future and figure things out for herself. She had left California to return to Delaware, home, for the summer before her senior year of college to get perspective.
J.J. (AKA My Lifeguard) is spending his last summer after graduation doing what he loves before he starts a lucrative but boring office job in NYC. He doesn't do long distance relationships after being cheated on by his girlfriend in college so he friend zones Mila (AKA Stalker Girl, Jellyfish Girl) since she is only there for the summer. (Jellyfish Girl is a story in itself, so cute!)
What neither count on is the feelings that emerge between them. Mila is a little sophomoric at times, I get that she is only 21 and had one boyfriend, and he was a tool! But she gets her feelings hurt quite easily and runs away instead of standing up for what she wants and saying what's on her mind. Sometimes I wanted to have a girl to girl chat with her. Nevertheless, she is endearing to me and I loved her and her insecurities. And when she and J.J. finally got together, well, there was spontaneous combustion! So hot and steamy! And I loved the ending, so sweet.
This was a great book by Ivy which is of course, no surprise. Everything this woman writes is fantastic and I don't even have to read the blurb or reviews, if her name is on it, then I know I can just click it and it will be an amazing FIVE STAR 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 READ!
We all remember our first love, and we'll never forget out first heartbreak. Mila's story is guaranteed to stir up all those old, bittersweet memories in the reader. Mila thinks her life is on track. She has one more year of college and a boyfriend who's on the edge of proposing. There's just the minor matter of still needing to declare a major before her last two semesters. Oh, and walking in on her soon-to-be-fiancé in bed with a female who is decidedly NOT Mila. Yeah. That’s a problem.
Fed up with California and needing the comforts of home, Mila goes to the beach on the Deleware shore where she spent her summers growing up. She finds a summer job and a roommate and hopes the summer by the sea will heal her heartbreak. She's focused on herself, on Getting over the hurt and figuring out her future, and the handsome lifeguard, J.J., is the last distraction she needs.
This book is a little more “young adult" than I usually read, and it gave me a bit of whiplash at times with the story's main conflict for Mila and her vacilating between “I need to focus on me" and “I think I'm in love with J.J.” The characters are complex, realistic and endearing, and the story’s pacing was great, so I was never bored. I love this author's style and she never fails to pull me into the story quickly and easily. If you like YA romance, this one is right up your alley, and you’ll love Mila and J.J.!

The perfect summer read! Wow. I had been in the middle of a really long series and stopped to read Those Summer Nights and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I’m a romcom girl and this one is at the top! There was never a dull moment from the prologue to the epilogue. I had to keep going because there were so many twists and turns that I couldn’t stop reading. This is a must read that will keep you on your toes all the way to the very end. You will experience so many emotions throughout the entire book. I sure hope this continues as a series because I can’t get enough of the lifeguard and Jellyfish girl. Thank you Ivy Smoak for such a perfect read toward summer’s end.
Ivy is the BOMB! I love all of her reads! Usually they are heavy, but this was the perfect light hearted summer read. Not to say it didn't have serious undertones, but they blended perfectly together. I loved the main character JJ. I'm thinking I need a sexy lifeguard! Mila is sweet and totally deserving of a HEA. Ivy has done it again!
What a fun summer read. Well written summer fling turned to forever. I loved the way this book is written, Mila is a girl just wanting to be loved and she finds it with her lifeguard JJ. Gives you the feel goods along with the angst at the beginning but oh so fun in the end.
When Mila walks in on her boyfriend cheating on her, it gives her the boost she needs to head back home and out of California for the summer. Who knew her summer would be filled with a hot lifeguard, though? She certainly had no idea...
But Mila will have to first capture that hot lifeguard's attention without looking like a stalker. Then, once she catches his attention, can she keep his attention? Well, not without a fuckton of push and pull and back and forth, creating a deliciously angsty chemistry between Jellyfish Girl and her Lifeguard.
Those Summer Nights is sweet, angsty and sexy. I love the push and pull between Mila and JJ, and how obvious it really was how he felt about her, even as he wouldn't admit it. And lest I forget, Kristen from Going for Gold is in it. She's as much of a hoot here as she is in her own story, and helped ground Mila, and the story. I love Ivy Smoak's New Adult love stories, can't wait for more!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review,
The easiest way to get over someone is to never see them again right? So when my ex stomps on my heart and throws it into the sewer...I decide to spend my summer on the opposite side of the country. And this summer is all about me. Mending my broken heart (screw all men.) Figuring out what I want to do with my life (a life that thankfully does not include my ex). And trying to better myself (does eating ice cream count)? But all my perfect planning comes to a halt when the sexiest lifeguard in existence asks me out.I have to say no. It doesn't matter that he's built like a Greek hunk, has eyes the color of the ocean, or is hotter than a summer night. I'm going to say no, I swear. He's going straight into friend zone. Although, I'm pretty sure he'd be more delicious than any flavor ice cream. Can't I put him in the friend zone after just one taste?
Holy cow I loved this book. Talk about an amazing summer read. A breath of fresh air in this heat of the summer. I could not put this book down. Everyone has been there with a broken heart. Mila has been dealing with trust issues and men for her entire life. She has worked so hard to get to where she is now and to where she is just figuring thing for herself. Now before her senior year of college she has gone back home to Delaware to get even more perspective. J.J. is also spending the year after he graduated college home doing what he loves before he starts a very well paying job in NYC. He and Mila both friend zone each other for different reason. She because who needs the broken heart again and he because he had a girlfriend cheat on him and he is not willing to do long distance again. However neither one of them expects the feelings that they bring out in each other. Can they work it out? Is this true love? You have to read to find out. I loved this book. It will go down as one of my favorite Ivy Smoak book. Don't miss it or you will regret it.
*** I received an advanced copy and chose to review it *** ** 100% spoiler-free review ** * 5 summer fun stars *
Ivy Smoak's latest story is fun, sexy and has just the right amount of angst to make it the perfect beach read. I loved all of the characters and felt they worked well together. Mia goes through a transition and while she starts out a bit whiny and lost, she eventually becomes stronger and finds herself. JJ....oh how I can just picture this hot lifeguard on the stand. I loved how these two sort of awkward danced around each other for a while before things finally started to heat up. Both have been hurt and betrayed and I think that's why they were such a good match. Add in Mia's roommate and JJ's friends and the cast of characters were a definite win.
Those Summer Nights is well written and perfectly paced. It's funny and sweet, sexy and emotional. It's the perfect book to read while sitting on the beach, enjoying the sound of the waves while having the perfect view of the hot lifeguards on the stands. Or, of course, while sitting on your couch dreaming about those hot lifeguards that JJ brings to mind. Grab this fun read and enjoy those summer nights! 5 stars
Ivy this is an amazing book! I was hooked from the beginning! Mila went from having everything to having nothing. Suddenly California felt depressing and the friends she had through Aiden her cheating boyfriend was suddenly gone. Mila was hurting looking to pick herself up and start over. Her family doesn’t show her the love she deserves. Her father just acts like she is a problem and treats her as such. Mila doesn’t want to disrupt her mother’s life. I felt sorry for her. I could feel her pain from how Aiden just acted like the two and half years meant nothing to him. Delaware was always home for her. While on the beach she met one of the lifeguards who turned her world upside down. Past hurt can shy you away from putting yourself out there. Kristen was Mila’s roommate who gives her friendship and the confidence boost she needs. Suddenly the pain and hurt starts to go away. She spends more time with her lifeguard. Mila has life choices to make. Her heart begins to heal when the last person she expected shows up. Aiden acts like he made a mistake and they could move on from this. His arrogance is his downfall. Mila’ becomes stronger and knows what she wants. She has to decide if it is worth changing her whole life. This books has a lot of emotions happening. I love it Ivy this is another hit book. Congratulations!!
This book is a cute story about a girl who is crushed when she finds out that her boyfriend cheated in her so the only place to go is home to the beach. Mila has found just the right amount of Sun to make her forget about what she left back at college ,and the fact that there is a hot lifeguard to look at does hurt at all either. J.J has his fair share of girls throwing themselves at him ,and the fact that he is a lifeguard does help that problem until save Mila from a jellyfish. Mila and j.j will have you laughing at them on some of the stuff they say and do. I received this book as a arc for a honest review and I can say that this book has a fun vibe to it as well a few heart felt moments to it as well.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and even though there were little things about this book that irked me... I loved it and I love Ivy! She is def. one of my top 3 authors!!
Main thing that I didn't like.....JJ. As a character I loved him however who above the age of 10 is called JJ?? Jay? Cool. JJ? Not so much.
That was pretty much it lol I loved the story, I like that it was a break from the suspense of her other novels. It was exactly what I needed this summer!

Another favorite from Ivy Smoak. Loved this book. It brought me back to my own summer romance in the summer of 1966. Wonder whatever happened to that summer fling. With all the ups and downs, loved this happy after after ending. If this doesn't bring back a summer love to you, nothing will. Thank you, Ivy. What a read.
Ivy has done it again with this great summer read. Mila starts off with some issues and decides to take a much needed summer break spent by the ocean. Mila and J.J. are a match made in the summer. Must read !!!!!
Funny, romantic, made me tear up and then smile goodness! I loved Mila and J.J.!! The characters of Ivy's that I've met so far are people I would want to hang out with IRL. Mila is quirky and sweet. I love her ramblings J.J. is sexy sweet but cautious with his heart. Although he never had a chance against Jellyfish Girl 😉 It took them a minute to get where they definitely needed to be but the journey was worthy the wait.
Hot steamy standalone that will make you laugh! This standalone will make you second guess about insane jelly fish bites but it’s great to read! Milia boyfriend cheats on her so she goes home to find herself only to run into a hot life guard both really dont want anything serious but after the summer is over will that change!
Ivy Smoak has prevailed once again! It's an absolutely amazing book! Mila and J.J. are absolutely adorable within this story and I hope we get to see more of them. Thank you so much Ivy Smoak for writing another fantastic book!
Wow!!! What a great story. You are going to love reading about My Lifeguard and Jellyfish girl. This story is an emotional roller. It will have you smiling and laughing then make you so pissed off and sad. I don’t want to give anything away but this is a must read story about finding yourself and love.

J.J and Mila are so cute together. They were the perfect couple for Those Summer Nights! I will warn you that this book will have you laughing, crying, and sweating in anger at some parts. Well done Ivy!
A hot steamy summer read - Mila finds her boyfriend in bed with another girl - She decides to move far away and find herself. She spends the summer on the beach where she meets JJ a sexy lifeguard. Then the ups and downs of the relationship begin. Can they romance survive her going back to school?
I love a good summer read, and this was definitely it. This was my first read by Ivy Smoak that was fun & romantic & I loved it. You get lots of feels - fun, romance, chemistry, and maybe a tear or two. J.J and Mila will make your summer that much brighter 😎☀️
Couldn’t put it down. My husband had to take my phone away so I would go to sleep. Reading about JJ and Mila you can feel their chemistry. Need another book about Rehoboth - maybe a sequel for JJ and Mila!
