Moving Forward Optional

Rate this book
When a woman loses everything she loves, moving forward doesn’t just happen, it’s a choice.

In a society that rewards ambition and ladder climbing, Emily is homeless. Her ambition is dead.

Dan’s daughter is missing. Emily ran away a year ago after he stumbled into the living room drunk for the last time. Now sober, he spends his days trying to turn that wrong around. Dan can’t stop.

David is losing his home, and his shoe store is barely hanging on, while the market is crashing. His own life is a mess, but the woman he picks up on the side of the road is a great distraction. Emily is beautiful, captivating, and worse off than himself. He takes her to dinner and then on a camping trip. He can’t get enough until he realizes her secrets may be more than he can take.

A women’s fiction about how one lives in a world that continues to turn, without the ambition to go on.

This is Emily’s story. Moving forward is optional.

Audrey Destin was born in Plainfield, Indiana.

Yep. That's true. PLAIN-FIELD.

Not surprisingly, she packed her bags when she was eight, and ran away to her grandparent's house, searching for something more. She didn't yet know what that something was, but she knew she didn't belong with her feet planted in the plain fields of Indiana.

Sadly for her, that adventure was a bust, and her grandparents, who also lived in Plainfield, called her mother to come to pick her up.

Little did she know, that would only be the beginning for her.

Today she lives in the suburbs of Seattle, WA, where she would never run at night alone for fear of both cougars and bears. Something they didn't have in Plainfield, Indiana.

More content with the excitement of her life, she lives happily with her husband and three children.

She graduated from college after studying fine art and journalism and has produced a creative life to decorate her family with.

Moving Forward Optional is her debut Indie novel and her fourth baby. Not including the dog.

Please don't tell the dog she's not child number four. Or the hampster.

On second thought, correction, Moving Forward Optional is baby number six.

Two human girls. One human boy. One dog. One hamster. And now an Indie book, which has reached the time where it has been given its wings and must be allowed to leave the nest and change the world, the way only a truly loved child can and will do.

Just kidding.

Unloved children change the world all the time.

Never forget that.

Here's looking at you, unloved kids.

Serendipitous and heart breaking

Do you remember the Old movie Crash where these different lives are coincidentally intertwined? This story starts off sad about half way and then it all comes together beautifully with a great ending.

To give you a sense, I'm going to share how the dedication starts the book:
"To all the women who have ever lost everything and found a way to move forward. Moving forward is always a choice. Finding the strength to make that choice isn't always easy. To the strong women."- Audrey Destin

This is definitely one of my favorite reads of the year! It has so many thought provoking moments...it has heartaches...it has humanity...it has everything you want in a good read.

I sat down opened it up...and didn't get off the couch until the last page...and here I type as I clean my tablet that is covered in salty drops of water...😢

Colleen Hoover fans will LOVE this!

Never forget: Be Kind. You don't know what people are internalizing, or going through.
