A moment is all it takes for love to change your life forever…

All I wanted was a fresh start. Haunted by failure and the ghosts of my past, I met a stranger who caught my eye and quietened my nightmares. And from that moment, I never wanted to lose sight of her again. I didn’t believe in love at first sight, but that was before Astrid.

Beautiful, successful, and sexy, Astrid Cooper was the first girl I ever wanted to call mine. Of course, it couldn’t be that simple. I promised to always do the right thing—but that was a hard vow to keep.

I never told Astrid my secret, but it turned out, I wasn’t the only one with something to hide.
The lies were enough to break us, but I wasn’t going to give up. The last time I had something to fight for, I froze. That wasn’t a mistake I would make twice.

My Review

This was so delightful and I enjoyed it a lot.
Extremely well written and engaging each word here was enthused with such emotional impact and delivered true.

I totally believed in the developing feelings between Leo and Astrid.
Their connection together felt authentic and real and they both just felt so human and Fallible.

We first met Leo in a previous story from this author “The Two Halves Of My Heart”.
Leo was Madisons best friend and fellow fighter and the horror of Mads fate and the reality of the whole situation has left him with deep scars as well as a determination for change.

He still feels such a deep sense of guilt for not stepping in and ultimately that he failed his friend when he needed him the most.
Suffering from regular nightmares and then freezing in the ring is the last straw and moving to London to live and work was supposed to be a fresh start.

While in London Leo rescues Astrid from some unwanted attention and feels an instant connection.
But when it all implodes because of mistrust and outside forces these two will have to overcome multiple obstacles including themselves if they want to achieve happiness together.

This was such an easy read and I read this in one sitting.
It’s a contemporary new adult romance and Dual POV.
I liked both main characters but Leo for me definitely had the edge.
Astrid, I did find made some rash and judgemental decisions and was easily swayed by misguided loyalty’s.

I gave her points for eventually recognising her shitty choices and owning them.
But yes Leo most definitely stole the show here.
He was an absolute sweetheart wore his heart on his sleeve and I adored him.
I felt that Astrid judged him way too harshly and there were times I really wanted to give her a shake.

Finally, you don’t need to have read “The Two Halves Of My Heart” to appreciate this it might give you some slight background to Leo’s headspace regarding the past but it’s not needed this is a stand-alone and can be read as such.

So this gets an easy thumbs up from me “Blush” was emotive and charming and I can totally recommend if your looking for your next contemporary read
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Blush.

I absolutely loved this story. We have already met Leo Walker in The Two Halves of my Heart which I plead for you to read before starting Blush. Blush can be read as a standalone, but I feel that when Leo talks about the impact that recent events have had on him (and yes, I am being deliberately vague so that you can read the first book without spoilers), you will regret not reading the books in the order that they are published. Rachel De Lune explains his struggles to us perfectly anyway, but I’d hate for you to miss out on experiencing the raw emotions that the first book initiates.

Leo began to work his way into my heart in the very first chapter. By the end of the third, I had handed it fully over to him already knowing that he was a guy who would look after it. It hurt me to see him struggle but I totally understood why. He stole my heart when he showed me his. Leo is someone who doesn’t hesitate to do the right thing even when there is likely to be some personal cost to himself. One of the highlights of this story for me, was witnessing his personal journey and getting to know him better as the story progressed.

I have a huge admiration for Astrid. She doesn’t always make what I feel would have been the correct decisions at times but her heart is in the right place, and actually who am I to judge this young lady’s choices. Astrid is smart, determined, successful in her professional life and I love her loyalty to those she is close to. Her friendship with Sawyer was one that intrigued me and I loved all of the times that Astrid, Sawyer and Belle spent together. These two secondary characters added to the story brilliantly and I hope that this isn’t the last that we see of Astrid’s friends.

The instant connection and attraction between Leo and Astrid felt so genuine that I never questioned it. Let’s face it, even I was smitten with Leo and unlike Astrid, I hadn’t had the pleasure of staring into his golden eyes! The chemistry between them is hot. I adored their interactions. I loved that Astrid didn’t want to be typically romanced, and I felt that they were perfect for each other. I admire anyone who owns the mistakes that they make, it’s never easy to admit that you were wrong. However, there were times I feared that there was no hope for the couple, even though I desperately wanted them to be together.

Blush is a book that I would have easily read in one sitting if real life hadn’t got in the way. I feel that Rachel De Lune has written a beautiful story which sees an incredible couple dealing with a multitude of emotions alongside misunderstandings and assumptions. Blush is a story that I highly recommend and it recieves a fabulous 5 'must read' stars from me.

Leo Walker is a devoted and loyal friend. His world has now been torn apart by guilt and grief. The best way to enjoy his story is to read Two Halves of My heart first. This is where you’ll meet Leo, where you’ll watch his friendship with Maddison become iron-clad until a fateful day when his world crumbles down around him. No spoilers, just know that it is a top-notch story.

In Blush, we get to see Leo live through the aftermath of a devastating loss. It is easy to fall in love with Leo. His kindness knows no bounds. He wears his heart on his sleeve and above all else, remains loyal to those he loves. I was so happy to see that author Rachel de Lune brought Leo’s story to life. After tearing me apart through Two Halves of my Heart, I needed more from these characters.

I can’t say this story went where I expected it to, and that is a good thing. Even though I yelled, “NO” at different events in the book, and felt almost cheated out of the story I thought I wanted, this story took another path. This path was the best path. The author knew what she was doing and she delivered a better Leo, a healed Leo. She delivered a ‘real’ story, not a fairy tale. Life is full of hard knocks and lots of different people with their own ideas and beliefs. Leo lives a real life and fights for everything he has.

I’m still not sure that the love of his life, Astrid, deserves him, but she makes him happy. He sees all the good in her, like he does with everyone. That is what makes Leo so likeable. He is the loyal friend to the end. He has morals and work ethic that are somewhat lacking in today’s world, and reading his story made me feel happy and complete.

Once again, Blush is a total stand alone, but I recommend enjoying the whole pie instead of just a piece. You won’t regret it and you’ll definitely be left smiling in the end, after all the tissues are used up.

I was hoping we'd get to have Leo's story after meeting him in Rachel de Lune's previous book, The Two Halves of My Heart, so I was delighted to hear it was being written. Those beautiful eyes on the cover, don't they just draw you in!

In Blush we learn just who Leo was and what made him tick. He was reeling following the events in TTHOMH (which you don't have to have read as this can be a complete standalone, but I would highly recommend it) but let me say, Leo was an absolute sweetheart and I loved him from the start.  He always tried to do the right thing for others no matter what and I'm so glad he stayed true to his convictions and finally decided to do right for himself and put his ghosts to rest. He was the kind of man I'd totally fall in love with in reality, he had a beautiful soul and a big heart.

I had very mixed feelings for Astrid. She was driven, smart and successful and there was an instant connection with Leo but she was quick to doubt it and him and fought their strong attraction and sizzling chemistry at every turn.  She was also a bit misguided, put her trust in the wrong places and at times was a bit quick to judge which led to her making a truly horrible decision. However thanks in part to her one good friend Belle who stood by through thick and thin, she matured, owned her mistakes and found the inner strength to overcome her fears. I liked her in the end, but there were a few times I seriously wanted to shake her for the way she treated Leo!

I loved Blush, it flowed and was effortless to read as this authors books always seem to be. It was sweet, sexy and slow burn despite the electric chemistry between the two. A healthy dose of angst and emotion amongst the secrets, lies and heartache kept me turning the pages to the very end.
Highly recommended!

Blush by Rachel De Lune is the story of Leo. He is a underground cage fighter who just lost his best friend in the ring. Trying to wrap his mind around what has happened he knows he can't go back into the ring. Moving to London is his only option. Living and working for his Uncle is not what he had in mind but he has nothing else. With no other skills and job, he has to do something to live. Being use to having his own and living on his own is a tough pill to swallow. When he saves a cutie on the tube he sees something to look forward to. When he sees her again he knows he needs to shoot his shot. Astrid is interested in the guy who saved her. When she runs into him again she decides to get to know him. Their interaction is quick, hot, steamy and sexy. Leo is dealing with his past but Astrid is someone he wants more of. Astrid and Leo's relationship is very explosive. The sexual tension is undeniable. When something happens it changes everything for them both. The journey of their relationship made for a good read. I loved Astrid and Leo. This story was more than what the synopsis gives us. I was left with a smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart. Would love more from them. A happily ever after. One for the books 4.5 stars for me.

Wow after devouring The Two Hearts Of My Heart and meeting Leo I just knew that I had to read his story next...I needed to find out what happened next for him.
And what a story that is... after suffering losing bestfriend Mads, Leo is lost and struggling to find out where to take his life next. After taking a job in London he can't believe his eyes when he sets his sights on Astrid.
But everything is nothing plain sailing for these guys with friends and family vying yo keep them apart.
Love the journey between these pair.. that intense chemistry between them was scorching and there was only 1 way this story could go!

This story was a real hit. This book really packs a punch. Two people trying to find their way in the world, have a chance encounter and an unexpected surprise. Misunderstandings and assumptions keep this couple apart. However, with some intervention, true love does win out.

There are a couple characters in this story that I am hoping will get stories of their own. Two best friends with very interesting lives. I would really like to see how there romantic lives work out as well.

Love at first sight. Leo first laid eyes on Astrid on a train and came to her rescue from a creep following her and there was an instant attraction, from both of them. They have their ups and downs throughout the book just like couples in real life do. That’s what made this book so easy to read. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Contemporary romance told in Dual POV by Leo Walker and Astrid Cooper.

We met Leo in The Two Halves Of My Heart. He was Maddison Ray’s best friend and fighting buddy. They had both been recruited by Zuri and were in each other’s corner for every fight.
The incident that happened in that book had a serious affect on Leo and we start this book with him trying to recover from it. He can’t see a way out of his misery and despair. He is so in his head and fighting his demons instead of opponents. He has nightmares that constantly remind him of that night. He full of guilt and regret of what he didn’t do. He feels he didn’t stand up to his friend and force him to think about his choices, that he has vowed to himself to now always do the right thing.

This vow is an integral part of the story as it is what Leo believes in and lives his life by. The reader also gets to know the core of the book early on because to me everything revolves around choices. Every character in the book has choices to make during the story, some are small and some life changing. Some you will agree with while others will make you so cross there could be a rise in damaged kindles! Thankfully throughout we have Leo to calm us down and protect our kindles.

Leo is lovely. I already liked him from TTHOMH because he never took the fighting seriously and was a loyal friend to Maddison. When his life falls apart he finds he no choices left but to accept a job in London from his uncle and make a fresh start.

The love story starts when he comes to the rescue of a woman on the tube. There is an instant attraction between them and this chance encounter changes both their lives forever. The woman in question is Astrid who runs her own magazine, is independent and sassy. She is a strong woman who would like a romantic option and likes to take her time but feels protected by Leo.

“I needed to be careful. I sensed I could get sucked right in by Leo and not even realise I was in the eye of the storm.”

She intrigues Leo as she has an individual style and tattoos. He doesn’t want a hook-up as needs to get his life back on track. Astrid gives him something to look forward to for the first time in ages. They have a connection, have fun and he begins to think they have future as she becoming special to him.

“She had got under my skin, sure as if she’d inked herself there.”

As we all know love never runs smoothly and for these two it is outside influences that affect them the most. Add in Leo’s determination to only do what’s right and Astrid’s loyalty to her friends, we get a story full of assumptions, misunderstandings and surprises.

Her best friends Belle and Sawyer have a large part in the book and Astrid is loyal to a fault! I really liked Belle as she happy, carefree and always saw the best in people. Hopefully we will get her story as I can imagine it being so romantic like her.

This book was well written and the story flows. It is an interesting take on how looks can be deceiving and first impressions. I reiterate my view that it is about choices and it was those choices that made me angry and cross while reading. I would have liked a little more explanation about some of the things that happened and I felt we had a few loose ends left. I found Astrid annoying and immature at times but glad she grew a backbone by the end and stood up for what she wanted. Leo always knew what he wanted and I can see him appreciating what he has, unlike his friend Maddison.
That all said I did enjoy the book and recommend it. I will miss Leo’s golden eyes as I’m a sucker for eyes. “Those sparks in his eyes were fiery and potent.”

Readers first met Leo in “The Two Halves of my Heart” and now it is time for his story to be told. It is not necessary to read the prior book as this can be read as a standalone. Sometimes after tragedy, it is hard to move on especially when that loss is Maddison, your best friend. Leo is grieving and unable to return to his former way of life that he shared so much of with Maddison. The two MMA fighters spent most of their time together and now there is a void. Leo does the only thing he can which is up and move to London to live with his uncle while he tries to rebuild his life. A chance encounter with a purple haired woman, Astrid, gives Leo the jolt he needs when he comes to her rescue. Astrid is a young woman making her way in the world and is attracted to Leo from the moment he stepped up to help her. Their chemistry is explosive and they each have past demons to handle. However, when a situation arises, their worlds blow up and outside forces seem to be coming to keep them apart. Can these two stay together and get their happily ever after? This is one well written, emotional storyline. The characters feelings are front and center going through their “real life” experiences. I have to say that I thought the storyline would go differently, especially with the writing of the opening scene but this author really delivered by showing one’s true grit by going after what is wanted. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.

Rachel De Lune is a new to me author and having read Blush as the first novel from her I thought it was very fascinating. From the moment I read the synopsis I knew that I wanted to read this book. It intrigued me and knew that it was going to be a little bit of a suspense that would have me flipping those pages so fast just to keep going.

Leo is a fighter and when he loses his best friend, it took a toll on him and when he couldn't shake those bad nightmares he kept getting nightly and freezing up every time he was on the ring, he knew he needed a change...what better place than London to go lose himself in and try to start over, fresh.

When Leo meets Astrid, he instantly feels that attraction with her. They begin a relationship but it won't be an easy one, with lies and secrets between them it will certainly be a challenge.

I wasn't particularly enchanted with Astrid especially with the way she treated Leo, Leo on the other hand was such a noble man who would do just about anything for Astrid and he would do whatever it takes to make that woman happy.

This book was enthralling and one that you certainly would like to get your hands on if you love contemporary romance. I suggest you pick it up and have a good read!

What a lovely story! It really had that "Ahhh" element to it!
Leo saves Astrid from a chap's unwanted attentions...and their attraction for one another was born.
Leo's come to London to change his life after his friend's death and things aren't quite what he hoped they'd be and nothing seems to be going right, apart from things with Astrid. They're on a slow burn but they have promise.
Astrid has two besties, Gwen and Belle, they've been there through thick and thin, though Belle has very strong views on things, and at times I'd have quite cheerfully put her in her place!!!
As things fall apart for Leo, Astrid is forced to make some decisions, life-altering decisions, about her future and if she'll risk their future...
Well written, lovely story!

Leo’s nightmares continue to haunt him after losing his best friend and not following his instincts. He will never ignore that call deep inside to step up and do what’s right.
From now on Leo commits to stand up for those who need protection whatever the cost. That’s what Mads would want him to do. Right?
It isn’t long for Leo to put that promise to the test when he sees a gorgeous girl being taunted by a jerk on the tube in London.
Astrid notices the topaz color of his eyes as he watches her from across the train. When she moves away from the other guy who has been following her for awhile, Mr eyes strikes.
All she feels is “protected”. Little did she know that was just the beginning of something that would change both of their lives forever.
A love story that proves mountains are worth climbing!!

This is about two people trying to find their way in the world, have a chance encounter and an unexpected surprise. But they both holding secrets that are close to their hearts. Once they come out can they make it together or not? This was such an easy read and I read this in one sitting. Blush is a standalone story. From a chance meeting, Leo and Astrid start playing the game of love. I absolutely loved Leo. He was a good man dealing with a painful loss, and yet he still always tried to do the right thing, even at personal risk. He got my vote from the very beginning! Astrid was successful and pretty, but she was afraid to put herself out there for a chance at love and happiness. I really wanted to give her a good telling off a few times. She came off as a little immature at times, but in the end, she found her inner strength and made good choices. I loved Belle and Gwen too. They were the support system this couple needed! I loved this sweet, tumultuous romance!

Wonderful story about not letting your ghosts run your life. Leo had lots of secrets he never wanted to share, but when he first saw this woman he knew he had to know her. He didn't share his secrets with her but she has a few she didn't share with him. Astrid was beginning to think there wasn't a good man in this world, until this stranger came to her aide. Now he's all she can think about. But both of their secrets tear them apart and they both have to find a way to let the other one into their lives.

Blush by Rachel De Lune is the story of Astrid Cooper and Leo Walker.
Leo had me hooked in from the first chapter for our leading man. Leo is dealing with his personal battles that we learn but when he saves Astrid he finds his heart open towards her. In addition his nightmares start to lesson up. They have a instant connection and of course their instant lust. I am a huge fan of this author's writing so I do recommend this book and others. This was a page turning read...can't wait for more from this author.

After losing his best friend, Leo is an emotional mess. When he sees someone stalking a beautiful woman, Astrid, he steps in to rescue her. Sparks fly but he still needs to heal.
Opinion
I loved this story from the word go. The characters face difficulties that any regular person would in day to day life. Leo is such a strong character. He knows what he wants and goes after it, even though his world is upside down. Astrid is a great character too. She makes thoughtful decisions. Even though they weren’t what I would have made, I can’t fault her for them.
I’d like to thank Bare Naked Words for providing me with an ARC of this book.

I first met both Leo and Astrid in The Two Halves of My Heart (Blush can easily be read as a standalone). So, I was excited to see them again in Blush.

Leo had just had a tragic event happen and he needed to go away. His uncle is helping him by giving him a job and a place to live in London. Leo meets Astrid when he tries to help her when she attracts unwanted attention.

I loved Astrid’s enthusiasm when she got together with Leo. They certainly had sparks flying!

This was another book that I enjoyed by this author. I am looking forward to the next book, whatever that book might be.

What a great read this was! Leo had my heart from the go and Astrid, while I wanted to tell her to check herself, i also felt for her. To say the chemistry between these two was intense is an understatement. The angst, the heartache, the swooniness...is real with this book. A MUST-READ book!

The tragedy that Leo has to over come from the first book we saw him in leads him down a path that he least expected. Without the will to fight in the ring he moves away to stay with an uncle who gives him a job. But one unexpected meeting on public transportation puts Leo in the good graces of Astrid. When passion consumes them the reader thinks it will be smooth sailing but the secrets that both are keeping close to the vest may make or break the relationship before it gets off the ground. What happens next locks the reader into the story and will be reluctant to put the book down until the very end. With every turn of the page, Rachel DeLune does not disappoint.

I was so excited to hear Leo was getting his own book. I was so curious about him in The Two Halves Of My Heart. He struck a cord with me in that book which carried over to Blush. I loved him. I felt for him. His pain and regret resonated with me. I'll be honest, Astrid made me mad in a certain part but it didn't color how I felt about her for the rest of the book. Rachel wrote a really great love story that spoke to my belief that people come in to our lives for a reason. I wanted Leo to get the HEA he so deserved. Loved this book!

This book was so awesome I loved how he was with her and how he tried to be the man she would want. even if he was in denial. She made his demons chill and not bother him.
It was so good I loved every minute of it

What happens when the pain of losing a close friend causes you to lose faith in yourself?
For Leo, getting back in the ring after his best friend died in a fight gone wrong this was the question. However when he finds himself on the mats getting his butt kicked , it's time to get out. Moving out of Bristol to London was meant to be a new start, but the past isn't helping.

Meeting Astrid on the underground promises to change all that, and as their budding relationship grows the the hope for it to last do too.

Unfortunately in the worse of misunderstandings and miscommunication, all that was promising is taken away again. Will Astrid and Leo find a way to make their lives mesh or is this train ride bound for an unexpected stop.

Two interesting characters for sure. As I was reading this I felt like Leo was so much older than Astrid, Howe be we I was very surprised he was only 21 and she a year or two older. So in that sense all actions taken made quite a lot of sense, I didn't judge on her later actions because I could see how and why.

Review of an ARC copy of this book.

Engaging! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is London and Astrid's story. I love to read books by Rachel DeLune. Leo is an emotional mess after losing his best friend. he steps in to rescue Astrid after he sees someone stalking her. This is about two people trying to find their way in the world, have a chance encounter and an unexpected surprise. But they both holding secrets that are close to their hearts. Once they come out can they make it together or not? This was such an easy read and I read this in one sitting. Blush is a standalone story. You won’t regret it and you’ll definitely be left smiling in the end. Just beware to have tissues ready to cry. Keep up the great job.

I am hovering between a 3.5 and 4 with this book. Leo I loved. He was not about any games. He experienced something terrible and promised to be a good person and he was. Only thing is that good people get crapped on. Astrid was ridiculous. She’s the kind of person you want to grab and shake some sense into her. You would think she is a high school student with the choices she makes. No grown woman with common sense would do and say some of the things she said and did. I would recommend this book at your own risk. It’s not a bad book but the heroine really annoyed me. I finished it for Leo to be honest.

Leo & Astrid
After reading The Two Halves of my Heart. I was thrilled to find out Rachel De Lune had also written Leo's story. A beautiful heart breaking story of starting over after losing a best friend. Dealing with guilt and sadness Leo tries moving to London to start over. After meeting Astrid there's an instant connection and he wants more! This couple has so many hurdles to jump but will true love prevail or will they give up their chance at happiness? I loved the way their chemistry was off the charts and they each made the other so happy! Rachel De Lune is a new author to me and I definitely want to read more of her incredible books!!!
