Switch of Fate #3

Shadow's Cat: Switch of Fate Book 3

Rate this book
Riot Cofield is a bad-boy mountain lion shifter who scales mountains like fences. He belongs IN the Natahala Forest, but not TO it, and he resents “the Cause” because it turns normal, sweet women into conniving, savage witches - switches - who will do anything to kill a vampire.

Riot tried out the Cause (after all, he is a shifter) but after getting used and discarded twice, he’s over it. Over and done with the Cause and everything in it, including Resperanza, the extraordinary, not-there-a-month-ago, magical house and command center. So he moved out, and oh yeah, he quit the Cause, too.

Until he has no choice but to step into a fight for a flagging switch he’s never seen before, throwing her his knife that she can’t seem to let go of. But the real kicker comes when she knows his name. It’s his secret high school crush, the only woman ever special enough to make Riot want to straighten out his renegade ways.

Gemma, the lost love of his life, is a switch?

“Love of his life” enough to move back into Resperanza? Maybe, but enough to support the Cause with everything he has? No. Never.

Then why is he delivering sweet, inquisitive, gorgeous, green-glowing Gemma to the one place he would never want her to belong?

And why does he get the feeling she’s about to blow the doors off this whole operation?

Switch of Fate 3 is the third wonderful book in this series by Lisa Ladew and Grace Quillen in a new paranormal series.

Lisa has a way of drawing you into her books and her characters. She is not afraid to pull punches as she weaves a magical story that leaves you wanting more. Who doesn't love a story that has hot sexy shifters and women they can't live without.

Throw in vampires and you have a story that keeps you intrigued from the first page until the very last.

Pre-Destined!!!

Riot Cofield was a bad boy cougar shifter who belonged in the Natasha Forest, but he didn't belonged to it. He resented "the cause" because it turned great and innocent women into killer machines. And he didn't like that.

He left the Cause and the Resperanza (command center and magical house). But his world was tilted on its axis when he came to an innocent woman's rescue. Who turned out to be a Switch and his mate.

Gemma Jackson a new Switch who knew nothing about the Cause nor her role in it. She found herself in a fight with someone she never met. When a gorgeous stranger came to her rescue. Only he wasn't a stranger but someone she knew when she was going school.

Riot can't believe his high school crush was his mate and she was a part of the same Cause he wanted nothing to do with. Against his better judgement, he moved back in to Resperanza to be there for Gemma.

The Vampires are getting bolder and bolder as the Swtitches, their mates and their Coven continue to grow stronger. Love that both Gemma and Riot found their way back to each other. Looking forward to what comes next in this series.

SWITCH OF FATE 3 is the third book in Lisa Ladew and Grace Quillen's SWITCH OF FATE series. What an amazing, rollercoaster ride. Marvelous job by the authors. This series keeps getting better and better with each book. Two thumbs up!

The story really moves on and all the clues start coming together in this emotional saga, Riot has lots of issues he is juggling and not really coping to well. Vampires are the last thing he wants to have to deal with but unfortunately fate has other ideas. Gemma is a journalist investigating missing women, while following this story events take on a life of their own dragging her along for a ride that changes her life forever, but it isn't an easy one. This gripping tale of switches and shifters just keeps getting better with each new book, the characters all have their own strengths as well as vulnerabilities, but are quickly taken into your heart and loved, flaws and all. Riot especially nearly broke my heart, all his vulnerable thoughts of not being as good or anywhere near the other shifters just because cats have always been the lesser shifter. Being lost to the love of his young life and thinking he wasn't good enough for her either. This pulled me into losing myself to him, wanting to help and tell him "you are good enough". The waiting for each of these books to get written and released gets more impatient with each one, I want them yesterday they have me so wrapped up in all the events and characters. Fabulous series and so interesting, such compulsive reading with complex twists and turns that you just hold on for the ride.

Second chances for Switches and Shifters

Riot is the hot, mysterious and dangerous big cat shifter of the new breath coven. And if you don't know what that connotates, run, don't walk to get the first three books in this series. Each book, starting with the SOF Prequel, builds on the next. Although each book is stand alone they are brilliant when read in order of release. This book of Riot and Gemma is the best so far. They knew each other in high school. Although they weren't friends, their paths crossed in several crucial instances. Now, 12 years later, fate has once again brought them together. The chemistry between them is hotter than ever, but Riot has some self image and confidence issues to work out. In the meantime, Gemma is learning to become a savage witch (switch) with the others in the magical home they share. All three switches have been pulled into their new life. They cannot avoid the need to kill vampires, and with the help of their shifters, kill them they do. A whole new world of shifters, switches, vampires, magic and saving humans is wonderfully created in this series. If paranormal is your thing, you'll love it, if it isn't your thing, this series will win you over. This book, and all its brethren are a rollicking great ride.

Switch of Fate 3 is technically the fourth book in the Switch of Fate series, and probably the best to date.

Riot is a bad-boy with an attitude to match, well actually Riot has a bad-boy image that he uses to keep people from getting too close, and he hides his good side to everyone because he feels like he doesn't deserve to have his good side. Poor Riot has been a victim of family prejudice and rough treatment, everyone expecting him to be a bad-boy because he is a cat shifter, and he just can't seem to shake his own prejudice towards everyone after the way his family has treated him.

Riot has gotten involved in The Cause, but he won't be honest or upfront with anyone, and really goes about his business trying to make everyone think he is trouble when in reality he is the best guy out there. He's used this method to keep himself safe, but when his high school crush Gemma reenters his life, all bets are off.

Gemma has been the one person that has always believed in Riot, even if he didn't know it, and now she has a chance to show him what she can be to him, if she can get him to just put down his guard for long enough.

Gemma is the third switch to be discovered, and Riot does a great job of finding her and dropping her off with The Cause. She is also easy going and is able to fit into the life, finding things not as scary to deal with as Cora or Goldie, partly probably because she grew up in a military family and moved a lot and saw a lot of things, she is just more open and accepting of the realities. Gemma is also a wiz with language and is able to actually start understanding parts of the book.

What is awesome is that as she does, we hear from Anna, from the prequel, in this book by way of her journal entries in the Keepers Book. Now that there are three breath switches - it is time to make the coven a formal group and with that comes understanding and magic they had no clue about. Things are finally falling in place for The Cause and they are really becoming what they need to be.

I happened to like this book the best, I felt that Gemma was strong, independent and not as needy and clingy as Cora and Goldie, so she makes for a sharp contrast and the way that she just accepts things and moves on is awesome.

Now....I want to see more books. I have questions that need answered. Auntie needs to be figured out, and then there is the child in the mental ward, Jinelle Spencer, since the vampires are watching her, more needs to be said on her. I can't wait!

Riot and Gemma

Gemma is a reporter who is searching for information about TSK(serial killer). When she exits a hospital she sees a man who appears malevolent. When he comes toward her she starts feeling different. All the sudden she starts looking for a weapon to kill him. When he turns to run she chases him. He calls her a "baby" switch. She doesn't know what that means but knows that he is an evil monster.
Riot is in the mountains when his Instinct tells him to listen. He hears fighting so goes to investigate. He sees a petite woman fighting a vampire.
After the fight they realize that they knew each other in high school. But Riot was the "bad boy" and so he decided that he wasn't worthy of her.
This book shows how Gemma joins The Cause and the coven becomes one. It also opens up Riot's past to the reader.
I like that the women are just as strong as the men is this series. I also like how Riot cares for people but doesn't expect anything in return. There are many unanswered questions but I am glad to see that we will have many more books coming.

My favorite in the Switch of Fate series so far.

I LOVE Switch of Fate 3, Riot and Gemma's story. The intensity level of the feels definitly ratcheted up in this book. I even got woot a couple of times. Loaded with sexy, protective shifters and their sassy, feisty vampire slaying switches. I couldn't get enough. Riot is a bit broody and a little angsty, feeling that he's not worthy to share Gemma's life. Gemma is trying to prove to the man that she's loved for years that he is more than enough, and a better man than he imagined himself to be. The vampire situation becomes more intense and The Cause develops more defenses as the third switch kind the Breath Coven.
As with the first two books, the romance story arc is a standalone story and can be read as such, but the underlying vampire /Cause story arc continues through this book. I know I'm impatiently waiting for book 4. The writing and story development continues to improve with each book (it was already good), which just makes me all the more excited to continue following this series. Love it!

Riot

This book is a great addition to the Switch of Fate series. Books One and Two had solid, by the book heroes. With this one we get Riot, a tattooed, motorcycle riding puma shifter and ex con. He joined and then quit The Cause because of other commitments and constant shade from another shifter. But when he hears a fight in the woods, he knows he's found a new switch, a savage witch, and he answers the call, reaching her in time to hand her his knife.
Emma is an investigative reporter doing a story on the Tri State Kidnapper. She's leaving the County Hospital, where she tried to interview a patient, when she sees a man watching her from the parking lot. And something switches on, sending her into a killing rage and a fight with a vampire in the adjacent woods. All she needs is a weapon.
This is my favorite of the books so far and I'm looking forward to the next book, due this Fall.

Riot and Gemma Rock!

Wow..Switch of Fate 3 is an adrenaline filled rollercoaster ride of discovery, fighting, destiny and fate. These characters will draw you in and wish that you knew them in real life. Their strengths and weakna esses are what truly make their story great. I couldn't put this book down I needed to know how it ended. Loved Riot such a broken bad boy who was such a sweetheart inside. Always doing the right thing even if it hurt him. Gemma such an innocent with a wild pure heart. Together their chemistry is incandescent and together they glow for all the right reasons. The bonds these characters forge will bring you joy and faith that ultimately good will win. The ultimate good versus evil story.

It just keeps getting better

It just keeps getting better. This story was very well written and the storyline is intricate and lovely. Riot and Gemma come together with alot of history from their younger selves. Finding out they are working towards a very heroic goal for the greater good is shocking and scary. I love the layers this story being as well as SOF books 1&2. Very smart writing on the creation of the whole series. I love love love Carrick! He sounds grouchy, droll and very witty. Did I forget his dry sense of humor possibly? Ok ! This was a good read for me because it had lots of adventure, back story, sexy times and imagination. I was taken into the forest and I want my own puma. Good job! Come on book 4 Aven is next!

We meet Riot in the first two books and learn that he is a man of mystery. In the second book, we learn he has been in prison, but not the reason. All the mystery that surrounds him is revealed. I have to say I love his relationship with his mother. The back story between him and Gemma is so great that I could not wait to read more about it. We find out that behind that rugged exterior of his is a heart of gold. The way all the other characters come together for him at the end is almost perfect. I think Flint was still too tough on him, but then again it is hard to change ones feeling that runs so deep overnight. It is in this book that we learn more about The Cause and its interworkings. Like I said in my other reviews this series in a must-read.

My favorite book so far!

I absolutely loved this book. Devoured it in one setting rescheduling appts to do so lol. It was great how Gemma and Ryder had such a complicated but romantic and interesting history that shaped the people they became and how much fate is showing up in this series. So much intrigue I can't wait to see all the places this series will go, without too many twists and turns to overwhelm you. Kudos to the authors. I haven't enjoyed a book this much in ages! It helps I grew up in Murphy NC and am so familiar with the setting I can see all the places in my memories including the little store (BBOC) that is at the end of the Nantahala river I used to raft and mountains I used to hike and cliffs I used to jump! I can't get enough!

Riot of a read

Loved Riot and Gemmas story. Sometimes I just wanted to slap them and say just say what you mean and quit assuming. So frustrating when you think everyone else is better than you are, get a clue we are all the same. Gemma is my favorite switch so far. I was hoping for more dead vampires but it was nice to see some of what they are doing come out in the story. I always hate for a good book to end. I definitely enjoyed the story and falling more in love with everyone. I can not wait for the next story.

Rior Will Take Your Breath Away

Riot had my attention before I read one word of Switch of Fate 3. I had no clue who Riot was until this book. He had intrigued me and tantalized me in the prior books but he became so much more. Gemma finds herself a switch before she’s ever heard the word. She and Riot are deeply connected beyond the Coven.
I couldn’t stop reading until the end and now I want to start over again. Get this book today!

Riot and Gemma

You did it again Lisa!!! I loved Riot who thought he was such a bad boy. Who thought he didn't deserve to be loved and belong. Gemma wore him down. Gemma, totally bad ass, but was so innocent about it. Together with the other switches and "mates", including the rest of the coven will soon be almost totally unbeatable. I am eagerly awaiting the next book and pairing.

Riot is a motorcycle riding cat shifter. He is a loner and not overly fond of this Switch thing. Vampires are the last thing he wants to have to deal with but unfortunately fate has other ideas. Gemma is a reporter on a mission that gets derailed by an unexplainable desire to kill Vampires. I loved Riot and Gemma's story and am looking forward to the next "Switch" and her shifter. Thank you Lisa and Grace for teaming up for this series.. It's great.

Belonging At Last

This series is awesome. I love all the characters. It's hard to pick my favorite character, though Riot is a good one. The Switches are amazing also. There is so much drama, suspense, action, and mystery throughout this book. The passion and compassionate emotions between all of them you can't help but love as well. Now that they formed a coven. Can't wait to read more. Excellent reading and writing.

Mind blown!!
Didn’t think this series could get better but SOF 3 proves me wrong.

We now know why Riot is the way he is and he earned every bit of pissed and bitter.

Gemma was a delight, I really enjoyed her personality and her being able to decipher the book just amped up my enjoyment.

Progress is being made, questions are being answered and I’m loving it all.

The Best one yet!😍😍😍

I love this series! This was Riot' s book and what a book it was! Riot is your definition of the bad boy and Gemma is the smart good girl. I have always been drawn to the strong silent bad boys and Riot is the cherry on top of the Sunday. Looks can be deceiving and never judge a book by its cover. Can't wait to read the next book in the series 😍😍

I was so excited to read this adventure. Riot was a self deemed bad boy without hope of redemption but all he bad to see was his saving grace I front of him. Loved the journey these two took as well as the togetherness of the coven. I'm anxious to get my hands on the next journey in this amazing world.

Like these two characters alot.

I always figured Riot was way more than he appeared to be and that Frank had it wrong and was just letting his natural wolf against cat dislike taint his veiw of Riot he always seem like a good guy to me.and this book just proved me right .Gemma was awesome how she just took everything in stride was inspiring.

Will definitely recommend this book/series for anyone who loves paranormal romance!!

Shadow’s Cat

Gemma and Riot’s story has been a long time coming, Riot has changed a lot since the last time they saw each other but so has Gemma and their story gives you a nice read and the beginning on a coven set up with much more coming their way, as the Fatherbornes get ready to fight back.

Wow Riot's Story On My

Shadow"s Cat is Lisa Ladew's 3rd book in her Switch off Fate series. It's Riot's story and oh my is it great. This story will have you heartbroken and in love all at the same time. Riot is fearless Inn battle but fearful in love. Watching him grow into a man with an open heart and was wonderful. It's a must read Inn the series.

Uh, I love mysterious bad boys with a dubious history (albeit only as a character in a book) who are pulled out of an existential crisis by a sweet but determined girl! I know, total cliché, the previous two books hinted at that, but I'm glad how it all ended... And it serves as proof that coincidences are not coincidences, at least not in books! Sweet school love that came into its own!

WOW loved the connection between Riot and Gemma. So glad he finally smartened up and realized he has always been the man for her. Make sure you don't start reading this book if you have somewhere to be because it is one of those books/stories that you can't put down once you start.
