A Paranormal Women's Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass, for anyone who feels like age is just a number!
Joy Lansing is at a crossroads. Her kids have all flown the nest and just when she thought she was going to spend her golden years with her husband of thirty years, she finds herself single again and looking to rebuilt a life she no longer recognizes.
Lucky for Joy she has her two besties and her coven by her side. Because she’s going to need them when she lands a television role and finds herself hexed by a jealous co-star. Finding yourself a minor TV star at the age of forty-eight is more than a little overwhelming. But when it comes with bad press and a hot celebrity determined to date her, Joy is in way in over her head. She’s going to need all her magic to navigate this one before her new career is over before it starts.
Deanna is a native Californian, transplanted to the slower paced lifestyle of southeastern Louisiana. When she isn't writing, she is often goofing off with her husband in New Orleans, playing with her two shih tzu dogs, making glass beads, or out hocking her wares at various bead shows across the country. For more information and updates on newest releases visit her blog at www.deannachase.com.
It's Joy's turn to shine. After the sudden shock of having her husband walk away from their marriage, Joy's finding her feet again. She's kinda dating a guy she really likes (she's just not sure if he feels the same), she's navigating the gossip and not-so-nice costars that come with landing an acting role, and she's suddenly having visions of a woman in danger.
But first! The romance. Troy and Joy shared some scorching time between the sheets and then their respective jobs (photography for him and the new acting gig for her) pulled them in different directions. Their biggest obstacle, to be honest, is communication. They're both thinking about the other, but they never seem to reach out and admit it. Until they do.
Meanwhile, one of Joy's costars is a malicious women who doesn't manage to hide how much she dislikes Joy very well. However, Joy's other costar is a peach. And the one related to the vision Joy's having of danger.
A little magic, family pulling together in times of need, and a woman making her mark on the world in her own gentle way. Did I mention the magic? Because these coven sisters make things happen!
What a joyful surprise!!! I love this series and book 3 went above and beyond my expectations. Witch for Joy was a fantastic story, a bit of mystery, a dab of action and adventure, a handful or more of drama, some sweet, sweet romance and threads to look forward to in the next book, I couldn’t ask for more.
Joy is an amazing mother, a wonderful witch, a best friend, the most patient person ever when dealing with ex’s and brats and a wonderful sweet woman to the right man and Troy is everything she could want in a man.
Wow! There is a lot going on in this story! Joy Lansing is trying to figure out where to go next in her life. Her husband has left and given up on the marriage. But she has 3 wonderful children who are in their twenties and a great group of friends. Joy met a great guy who is a professional photographer and her photos ended up extremely popular. She lands a movie roll because of it. But her co-star is a jealous, spiteful, younger actress who seems to have it in for her. Meanwhile, another co-star has an even bigger problem and Joy wants to help. She finds herself in the middle of several crazy things happening and needs the help of her friends and fellow witches to get through the bad and get her life back in a good direction. Fun new series!
This book in Deanna Chase's PWF series was just a "joy" to read (pun intended). Joy, Grace, Hope and Gigi must once again unite to help a young woman who was kidnapped. Joy is growing by leaps and bounds in this one but it was good to see that there were many times she still felt the doubts that we all feel during our "growing pains". The ending was very dramatic and I was thrilled that it was Hope's mom, Annabelle, that was able to help Grace, Hope and Gigi to come to the rescue. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series.
This is such an enjoyable story, I absolutely couldn’t put it down. The author has created an engaging story with relatable characters that had me wanting to know what is going to happen next. I look forward to reading what happens next.
Every. Darn. Time. I go into these series that the author puts out and I think to myself that I really didn’t enjoy these romances as much as I did (I like romance, but it isn’t my favorite genre). I started this one thinking this same thing. Nope, the author immediately drew me in with the sweet romance, the caring and loving between the four “sisters,” and the slight mystery suspense. This is Joy’s time to shine, and we get to see her dealing with the fallout of her divorce, making a new life for herself, and finding a new love. All the while, she’s dealing with the kidnapping of a fellow star’s niece. I quite enjoyed the book, and it was so darn great; I figured out that these books remind me of the Hallmark movies on TV. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Another story from Premonition Pointe. Joy's husband decides marriage is not for him and the children are out of the house -- but will they stay gone? Life changes for Joy. New Job, life or death visions and old love that could be new again. Less paranormal than I was looking for, but the story is well written and the characters are fun, snarky and strong.
Another smash hit! I loved getting to know Joy and her family. All of the little twists really kept me sucked into the story. The Gigi teaser at the end has me cursing myself for not waiting a until little bit closer to Witching for Clarity’s release.
I Loved all three of the books in this series I absolutely Loved Joy's story and the fact that these woman are all over 40 and having interesting lives and romance not just a side character.I am just so happy to read these books.
Absolutely loved this book. Cannot wait for the next installment. It’s Joy time to shine. We get to see how Joy navigates the pitfalls of divorce, dating again and fame. She is free to discover herself and what she really wants out of life. Definitely a must read
This one is Joy and Troy and although it's not as entertain as some of the stories it still had it's moments. I can't believe that it took Joy so long to work out that she was being hexed. I didn't think much of Troy either he seemed to be very reluctant through out. I liked the story line more then the romance. I like the fact that she seems to get her kids back one at a time and her ex husband is a douche....even if he did have his reasons he could have handled it so much better.
This was an okay read, nothing too exciting. It seems that Joy's magic was just a side note as it wasn't very much integrated in the story. I still enjoyed the mystery and how Joy resolved everything.
There were some very snarky/mean characters that gave the others a bit of problem in all areas! It was a quick read and I'll finish the series.
I do love the magic/paranormal elements and hope there is more of that in the other books. 🙂
I have loved the stories of the witches in Premonition Point but this story seemed very convulsed and thrown together. I it felt like it was thrown together just to meet a deadline.
This Book did not have much content. It’s like a cookie cutter with a lot of junk in it that’s disconnected. It is just a stepping stone so that you buy the next book I hate it when they do that
This story really wasn't that entertaining . Joy was ok but she wasn't really interesting. It was a Ok story. Not to much witchy. Voluntarily reviewed.
I’m loving the Premonition Pointe series, and Witching for Joy continues that enjoyment with one woman’s discovery of who she really is when she is left behind by her now ex-husband… and did Joy ever shine in her story. We’ve heard of Joy’s marital troubles in the earlier books, often with hilarious suggestions from the other ladies in her coven. But the reality is far from humorous when the man she thought she’d be with for a lifetime simply walked away, engineered a divorce, and went on with his life alone. Joy showed strengths that any woman would envy. Yes, it sucked that her husband didn’t want her. Yes, it also sucked in the manner that he decided to end the marriage. Yet. Joy is discovering freedom she hadn’t allowed herself to feel. She’s taking a chance and going for the career she wants – and the troubles that also come with that new acting job. Joy’s life is about to take another turn and she’ll need all her friends and her coven behind her when the nasty, evil parts come to the forefront.
I adored Joy. That’s probably obvious. She’s going to be facing not only a new career but a vindictive younger actress’s actions to constantly put Joy down, get her in trouble, or ruin her life in general. But there’s more going on aside from an ego-filled brat, there is also a new friendship with another actress, one where Joy and her coven will be vital in saving Carly’s niece, Harlow from extreme danger. And… a new man in Joy’s life – although I had my doubts about Troy at the start he turned into a man who stands by his woman forever. I loved Joy’s children and the parts that they play in this story are full of humor, obvious family love, and wisdom beyond their years. There is definitely danger here. Yet watching Joy (and her friends, her love) deal with everything thrown at her was an exciting journey. The woman’s got strengths she doesn’t even know about yet – and powers as well.
I had such fun with Witching for Joy – and if you haven’t started this series yet, then you should definitely give it a try. Humor, romance, magic, a tight-knit community, and danger. What more could you ask for?
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Joy has found fame because of the pictures Troy took of her. She has been cast as the Mother in a movie filming right in town. Prissy has the role of her daughter and Carly (a well known actress a few years Joy's senior) as her Mother. Joy's youngest son, Kyle has an accident and she is summoned to the local hospital. Upon arrival, Jackson is there and she overhears him telling the nurse he is Kyle's boyfriend but, quickly back tracks when he realizes Joy is behind him. Joy and Jackson go back and learn that Kyle has a broken leg. He won't be able to navigate the stairs at his apartment so he agrees to stay with Joy while healing. Just before the call from the hospital, Joy had vision of Carly's niece, Harlow being kidnapped. Immediately after her thing Carly what she saw Carly recieves a call from her security team that Harlow has been taken. Joy and Carly end up spending the rest of the day into the evening (until right before the hospital calls) at the police station giving a statement about what she saw in her vision. Can Joy and the coven help find Harlow before anything worse happens to her? Can Joy keep the paparazzi at bay and keep them away from her family. When will Troy be back so they can talk and try to define their relationship? Will Prissy ever leave Joy alone? This third book in the Premonition Pointe series features Joy's story. It is well written, fun, endearing, entertaining and interesting. The characters are endearing and have great depth, making you emotionally invested in their story. I love this series and everything Deanna Chase writes. I totally read, recommend and love everything she writes. I can't wait to read Clarity's (Gi-gi) story next and hopefully, Carly's after that! I highly recommend this series!
Premonition Pointe is an amazing little place to be, just a hint of magic but mostly it is full of older women, think mid thirties to forties in age - not your teenagers that fill most recent books. Women who have lived life and are still kicking butt and taking names.
The whole series centers around a group of friends, it starts as three, but they add a fourth in the first book, but these are the ladies that have been there for each other, take care of each other and defend each other. The kind of friendship that every woman needs in her life. Book one was Grace's story and book two was Hope's story. This time we get to focus on Joy.
Joy married her sweetheart and raised three wonderful kids, then things started changing and her husband was no longer interested in her and nothing she did seemed to help, then instead of the counseling or trying to work on their marriage she had envisioned, he walked out. Now Joy is starting life over, and wow is she taking it by the horns. She did a one time photo shoot for a great photographer in town that went viral and led to her being offered the role in a movie. Unfortunately she has to act with a spoiled brat as a costar and she is making life difficult.
This book follows Joy as she helps her kids navigate life and some of its challenges as they are graduating college and looking to start their adult lives and mom's advice and help is always welcome and needed. Then there is her ex-husbands strange behavior and attitude towards his kids that she needs to get in check. Plus she is seeing visions, of course only randomly but they all involve her older costars niece who was recently kidnapped. Good thing Joy has her coven, her best friends to stand by her and help her through.
Witching for Joy by Deanna Chase has Joy Lansing starting anew in her late forties. Her husband decided he did not wish to be married any longer, their children are grown and out of the house, and she has gotten her first acting job. Joy is unprepared for her nasty co-star who is determined to make life on the set difficult. Then Joy has a vision of a young woman being kidnapped. Joy has never had visions before, but this one turns out to be true. A co-star’s niece has been kidnapped and Joy is the only witness. Joy hopes her coven can help her navigate this new power and locate the missing teen. As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours. Joy’s quiet life is disrupted when a love interest returns to town and two of her children need a place to stay. What does the Goddess have in store for Joy next? Witching for Joy is the third novel in Premonition Pointe series. It can be read on its own, but I do not know why you would want to. We get to see Joy stretching her wings as she starts a new chapter of her life. She has her friends, family, and coven by her side. I thought the story was well-written with steady pacing. The characters are developed, and the magic is intriguing. Just to let you know, there are intimate references and foul language in this book. I enjoyed the mystery in this Witching for Joy. I love having a puzzle to solve. There were some interesting hijinks going on as well. I like how this paranormal story played out. This is my favorite book in the Premonition Pointe series. Witching for Joy is a spellbinding tale with pushy paparazzi, filming fuss, unpleasant pranks, progeny problems, a confusing kidnapping, and vibrant visions.
Another great story from Premonition Pointe...this time we are reading about Joy a forty eight year old woman who is trying to come to terms with what life has given her Joy's kids are grown and out of the house, she is recently divorced and she just landed a roll on television show. But things are not all rosy on the set. The actress who plays Joy's daughter on the show is nightmare and she has hexed Joy. That alone is enough to give Joy grief but now she is being followed by paparazzi and the bad press is even worse because they start dragging Joy's children especially her youngest son into the press. Joy is trying to deal with all that when a vision of someone being abducted plagues her. Joy thinks well this is new....what happens after that is a roller coaster ride... Deanna Chase's books simply amaze me every time I read one because after each one I think "Well this is the best book of the series, then the next one comes out and I'm thinking "Wow" how does she do it....I simply love each and every one of her books! To say that Deanna Chase is my favourite writer is a no brainer. I can say I only have a handful of authors that when I read their books they never disappoint and Deanna Chase is in that category. Not to mention her covers are a work of beauty! Love them so much Loved it!
It's no secret that Deanna Chase is one of my favorite authors, but with this book she truly out did herself!! I love all of her books and have a hard time putting them down, but I think this is my favorite so far. This is Joy's story, but of course Grace, Hope, and newest coven member Gigi are right by her side.
Joy is in a new movie filming in Premonition Pointe, which isn't going as well as she had hoped, isn't sure where things are going with Troy, the photographer who we met in book three, two of her kids come home temporarily, she sees visions of a kidnapping, and the paparazzi decide to write stories about her and her family. What's a witch to do with so much going on? Well for one thing, her coven and best friends will have her back. And for another, like any middle aged woman with a lot to deal with she's going to straighten her crown and handle it all like the queen that she is.
I couldn't recommend this book anymore than I do. It's an incredible book. Like I said in the title of this review, Deanna Chase outdid herself with this book. Before I even finished it I came to Amazon to order Gigi's book, because I'm so excited to come back to Premonition Pointe.
Joy is beginning a whirl wind of a new life. She has jumped back into the dating pool with a fabulous photographer named Troy. Troy took some captivating pictures of Joy that sent the art community all atwitter. Joy landed a role in a new movie being filmed in Premonition Pointe. She has always dreamed of becoming an actress. She is in love with her life. But then a series of mishaps, problems with a bratty actress, a kidnapping, and family trouble befall her all at once. Joy can barely keep up. But luckily she has the best coven and family ever on her side.
I loved Joy's character. Other than the acting I identified with her the most. She was just an empty nester trying to decide what to do next with her journey through life. After the major upheaval of her divorce and her children embarking on their own adult journey. She was left with what's next. But she seized the day and embraced the changes. It was wonderfully written in that aspect. I didn't like every where the plot went. Some of the twists and turns were kind of like an after thought. But it was certainly funny and entertaining.
In book three in the Premonition Point series, we learn Joy’s story.
After a 30-year marriage goes down the tubes, Joy decides to reach for the stars.
New to the single scene, she ends of meeting and hooking up with Troy, an up-and-coming photographer, at her friend Gigi’s party, Joy soon finds herself modeling for him for a mature woman’s perfume ad. Her ad goes viral and gets her noticed by Hollywood. Joy soon finds herself cast in a movie with a primadonna starlet and a star that’s been around the business for years. Leaning on her coven for support, Joy learns to navigate her new world. In addition to starting a film career at age 48, Joy also is adjusting to her three children as grown adults and the changes that go along with it.
On the movie set, Joy becomes entangled in a costar’s family drama and finds herself in more than a little hot water thanks to her new seer ability. Dealing with the paparazzi, spoiled starlets, a new boyfriend (or is he?), and being there for her family and her coven, sometimes is more than Joy can handle.
Another great read by Deanna Chase. Looking forward to learning more about Gigi in the next installment.
Joy Lansing is at a crossroads in her life. This is where it seems that all the hard work you put in throughout your life is finally finished and you’re ready to relax and reap the enjoyment you have worked for over the years. Her kids are all out in the world. And now she’s ready to enjoy life with hubby after 30 years of marriage – except that she is now single again and has to rebuild her life and start over!
Finally able to get a television role, Joy is hexed by her jealous co-star! Between the bad press and the hot celebrity determined to date her, Joy is floundering and will need help from her besties and her magic to save her new career. Can she handle this new magical talent, a budding new career, her altered family dynamic, and possibly a new love interest? And can she survive it all?
I love this author’s writing. No matter what she tackles, it’s always a pleasure to read and enjoy! Grab your copy and see what adventures her new life is bringing her now as she adjusts to her circumstances and rises up to meet the challenges life throws at her!
Grace can hex people when she's being threatened, Hope is able to read people's mind, and Joy suddenly got a vision. Yup, it's time for Joy to shine. The third book is more complex, which I like it better. Joy's becoming a new artist in town which turned her life upside down. She went back and forth to the police station, become a headline in the gossip rag for a few times, dealing with her annoying co-worker, and solving a mystery of Harlow's abduction. It's hard to handle all of that for a fourty-eight year old woman who has three children and just separated with her ex husband. Luckily, the coven sister is always there for her and the new guy, Troy, who seems to know how to treat her better. What I like in this book is Joy's role as a caring mother to her children and that she's so mature when facing with the stressful event.
Now it's time for the fourth member in the group, Gigi a.k.a Clarity. I wonder what will happen to her after seeing Sebastian, her old friend and what kind of power she will discover.
It seems that there's a trend that these books are mainly focused on how the FMCs make new careers for themselves after a horrid breakup rather than the actual romance between their partner. This book follows our FMC Joy as she tries to be a successful actress while juggling family, romance, and a side plot of trying to solve a coworker's kidnapping mystery with her new unpredictable clairvoyance powers.
It was an entertaining read to follow along Joy's slice of life, but once again, nothing too exciting. For a romance book, it was definitely something way in the backburner as a side plot as the male lead didn't even show up for most of the book. The mysteries in these series are also pretty much solved with deux ex machina plot devices as well and wrapped up in a few short pages.
I still enjoyed seeing how everything resolved, but it wasn't anything to get enthusiastic about. Magic still wasn't very integrated in the story and was also more of a side note.
Divorced. After years of trying to make it work, she has a chance to pursue her dream. Acting. Too bad her co-actor is an obnoxious being no one can stand. Still, she'll stick to it. She suddenly gets a new power and is the only witness to a crime. Only it is a vision. Will anyone believe her? Will she be able to help a new friend who is affected by the crime?
She's lucky to have great friends with their own witchy abilities who are willing to help try to solve the crime. It won't be easy and there is some danger involved, new friends, old friends who just might be more, and her gown kids who still need and care about her.
Another good book that stands alone but has characters we've grown to care about from previous stories. The characters are unforgettable and the witchcraft from good witches. The romance touching good to the last page.
This book is part of the Paranormal Women’s Fiction Romance group (PWF). The books in the PWF are all strong female lead characters and the female lead is middle age, mostly over 40 years old. I have to admit that I love reading a book with a strong female lead but loving it more when the character is middle age. This is the third book in the Premonition Pointe series written by Deanna Chase. This is a great book, this is Joy’s story. Joy is a witch living in Premonition Pointe and is a witch. Her husband has divorced her and her kids are grown leaving Joy with no idea what she wants to do and trying to rebuild her life. She is excited to be in a relationship with handsome photographer that is new to town. She also gets a chance to play a role on television. When she is hexed by a jealous co-star she turns to her best friends and coven witches to help her.
