Tornato in missione per uno dei salvataggi più difficili che la squadra Blackstone abbia mai compiuto, mi sono scontrato con uno dei miei incubi peggiori.
E ora due cose a cui tengo verranno messe a dura prova: la fiducia e la libertà.

This book is part of the Blackstone series and while it can be read as a stand-alone, it does the reader a service to read the others in the series. J.L. Drake delivers a narrative for a character that veteran fans have long been waiting for. The plot moves fast with lots of action and steamy scenes supported by a cast of new and established characters. A do not miss. 5 stars

Freedom is book three in the Blackstone series. These books are so good I highly recommend you read Honor and Escape.

Now we get Mikes story. My expectations was high for his story as I really liked him. I wasn’t disappointed. His job means so much to him yet he sees others settling down and he wonders will he get that chance.

When Catalina enters his life it all changes. Will their trust issues and secrets get in the way of a happy ending?

I really loved these two together. Their story exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend you read these books.

I love love love this combination of Army men mixed up with a little MC action. Once again, what a great ride you took us on with a book J.L. Drake. We get to meet up with some of our old friends from previous books - but best of all, Mike Irons gets his story.

Mike meets Catalina outside a bar, he's in her spot - Ha! Yup, he is making a call to his mom, and is in her spot (it's well lit) - she also needs to make a call. They meet and sparks fly, they flirt - but the evening ends. Shortly after, there is a party at Mike's parents house, and holy cow, Catalina is there - it just so happens she works with Mike's sister. Well, Mike doesn't waste anytime getting to know her a little better; they both have pasts and secrets they can't or won't talk about.

Mike and his Blackstone crew are currently working to take down the Cartel in Mexico, the mission has been taking him back and forth - and The American's name keeps popping up - interesting, how does this all fit together; and how do they keep missing their mark and the Cartel finding their position......

Catalina is having problems reaching her brother, Javier - they are from a prominent family in Mexico, Catalina left seven years ago, when she was done with their criminal ways. She made a new life for herself, a good one; school, an apartment and good jobs.

Mike and Catalina have a good time together - but the trust issue is a bit of a problem.
They are falling for each other. Can he get over her distance on some issues; she knows he is in the Army and that he is part of a team that goes on secret missions, but, is this enough information for her to he all in, in this relationship.

I like how all the secrets come out - the shock of everything, we the readers learn. So good.

Don't get me started on Nan -> what a hoot, she had me laughing :)

Freedom by J.L. Drake takes us back to Blackstone and the Broken trilogy where we met one of our main characters but back in the Broken trilogy he was just a secondary but beloved character. Mike is now a main character in Freedom and in his book, we get to see some past characters from the Shadows and from the Devil's Reach crew.
The heroine's name is Catalina and the story is set in Mexico where Mike runs into her. Theirs is a love that sizzle and burns bright. There is secrets, drama, angst, intrigue, betrayals, murder, romance and well...it is a J.L. Drake story. A Blackstone story...its everything that I've been waiting for. Mike's story and his love Catalina will hook you like nothing else will. Oh it's hot!! It's intense and I need more Blackstone stat!!!!

She’s done it again!!

Every time I think Jodi can’t top the last one she blows me away. I fell in love with Cole just to leave him for Mark which then I cheated with Keith but Mike? I had a full blown affair! He was everything wrapped into a tattooed giant, a swoon-worthy alpha he is! I couldn’t get enough of his and Catalina’s story and I didn’t want it to end. Their story shows that no matter the obstacle that love will win, with them it will always win.
I can’t say too much but buy this, right now.

Just when you think it can't get any better, Jodi outdoes herself again! The Blackstone family continues to grow and unforeseen events take them by surprise. Mike's story is full of ups and downs, humor, happiness, missions, and love. It was so much more than I could have ever expected. Mike and Catalina's story is one of my favorites. I don't think I will ever get enough of all of the Broken and Blackstone characters.

J.L. Drake is that unicorn author for me who I adore as not only a fantastic author, but as a person and friend. Her stories always bring me back home with characters that I don’t think I will ever get tired of. When Jodi asked if I wanted an ARC of Freedom, I immediately sent an all caps YES with a slew of GIFs. I couldn’t wait to get my eyes on Mike’s stories.

Mike has been the big, burly wall of muscle throughout all of Jodi’s books. His loyalty is fierce and I knew his story was going to be one for the books. Mike has this slight edge about him that I haven’t seen in Jodi’s other characters. He understands that sometimes things aren’t always black and white, and he isn’t afraid to cross some lines for the woman who has turned his life upside down.

I freaking loved Catalina! She is an enigma wrapped in mystery and you have no idea what is about to pop out of her past. Catalina is a force to be reckoned with and had a fire inside her that I haven’t seen in quite a while. She has strength and courage to stand up for what is right, even if it’s against people who are supposed to be her family.

Mike and Catalina were just meant to be together. Their lives are crossed in unimaginable ways and they will both have to fight to make their own path.

My absolute favorite thing to read in Jodi’s books are the past and future characters from across all of her series who make appearances. I was beyond giddy to see so much of Cole, Mark, and Keith. I can’t get enough of these men! They are all alpha males with a strong sense of loyalty and service to their country, which is my kryptonite.

Jodi, thank you so much for bringing these characters to life! I can’t wait to see what (or who) is coming next!

I really enjoyed this story.
It is well written.
You meet the Hero and heroine and they both have secrets, you know that their secrets are going to connect them and it's not as obvious as it first appears.
Lots of secondary characters, some from authors previous books, I think if the reader hasn't read those before this one there are plot spoilers.
There is other woman drama in the form of a woman the Hero thought he loved for years that wasn't interested but when he starts to move on with the heroine she tries to make problems.
I felt the Hero was a bit naive to her at first and I thought it would have been more of an issue but the Hero shuts things down and when he sets her straight later it is a delicious moment.
There is a darker edge to the background story and missions but there is little detail.

JL Drake has the magic touch when it comes to creating realistic worlds where the reader is instantly lost in the story. Her characters are instant favorites.

A beloved supporting character of her charter series Broken, Drake fans have to be chomping at the bit to finally get their hands on Mike’s story.

Mike is one of the quieter Blackstone men. He’s loyal almost to a fault and massively gorgeous. Catalina is the perfect woman for Mike and he knows it from the moment they lay eyes on each other.

It wouldn’t be a JL Drake book without crazy plot twists and heart stopping moments. This is a must read for 2019!

The 3rd installment of JL Drakes Blackstone Series is here. The story is action pack and fast-paced from the start. Mike is sexy, kind and protective like all our Blackstone men but he is certainly not the shy man we thought! Cat is strong, kind, and loyal like all our Blackstone woman.
Cat & Mike are a pair that strengthens and complements each other; however, their story is a true testament to the writing ability of our beloved J.L. Drake. She has done it again with a well-written story of love and acceptance through the kindness and growth of her characters. Well Done... Bravo!

The. Wait. Is. OVER!!!! His story has finally been written!!!! I’ve waited for this book ever since Savi first ran into Mike in Broken. It’s an amazing journey about battling through your past to finding the freedom you deserve, even when you think you’ll never make it.
Jodi totally raised the bar with Freedom.

Full of intrigue, action and love….

Whew, was this book a roller coaster ride! I see that description a lot but sometimes it’s the only words that fit. Catalina and Mike were attracted to each other but I don’t think either of them realized where their secrets would lead them…

Catalina had gone through so much yet no matter how hard she tried she couldn’t distance herself from her past. Family went deep and she couldn’t escape them or how they were going to affect her future. Mike was drawn to her beauty and her personality. Little did he know how their lives were going to tangle, putting both their lives at risk…

This read quickly became my favourite in the series. Mike and Catalina’s story was wave after wave of emotion and tough decisions. Life-threatening situations were common-place and brought spine-tingling suspense to a romance that already had me on the edge of my seat.

A great stand-alone read but the Blackstone family is best read from the beginning to understand (and appreciate) the relationships they have right from the start…

Questa volta si parla della storia di Mike Irons, ovvero il braccio destro di Cole Logan.

Mike è una montagna di due metri di muscoli, tatuato dalla testa ai piedi e che incute timore al solo guardarlo.
Solo chi lo conosce bene sa che dietro al suo sguardo si nasconde una persona amorevole e ben pochi sanno quanto sia stata difficile la sua vita, prima di trovare la sua strada nell'esercito.
Mike è sempre stato, fin da bambino, un ragazzone ben piazzato e, a causa della sua ingombrante mole, bullizzato e deriso dai coetanei.

Catalina torna in Messico e Mike parte per la sua missione senza avere più notizie della donna che ama.
Quello che non sanno, è che la loro destinazione sarà la stessa e che ogni segreto verrà svelato nella maniera più brutale immaginabile.



Ho decisamente divorato questo libro.
Era da diverso tempo che non leggevo con tanta bramosia una storia e, grazie alla penna impeccabile dell'autrice e ai suoi personaggi intensi, è stato un gradevolissimo susseguirsi di battute e di immagini; ma qual è la cosa che ho amato di più? Il gigante buono, Mike Irons.

Mike è come un grosso orsacchiotto. Nonostante la stessa madre in modo molto ironico lo abbia soprannominato Banner (tratto dal film “Hulk”), è davvero un uomo dalle mille sfaccettature e dal cuore enorme, tanto quanto i suoi muscoli.
Innamorato fin da ragazzino della stessa ragazza, ha imparato a crescere incassando i suoi rifiuti e vedendosi spezzare il cuore un giorno dopo l'altro. Ormai convinto che la donna della sua vita non esista, quando incontra Catalina è per lui un fulmine in pieno petto.
Ma quando scoprirà la verità sulla donna di cui si è innamorato, le insicurezze torneranno a far parte di lui e non sarà semplice liberarsene.
Non si deve mai dare per scontato che la vita sia facile, perchè è il quel momento che si commettono gli errori.
Per quanto riguarda Cat, è una donna davvero combattiva e risoluta, ma anche abituata a sentirsi giudicata per il nome che porta senza che in realtà la si conosca.
Solo una cosa chiede alle persone: fiducia!
Ha lottato tutta la vita come una leonessa per fuggire da una vita indegna e, soprattutto, per contraddistinguersi al di fuori di quella famiglia disposta a sacrificarla, pur di ottenere ciò che più interessava a tutti loro: soldi e potere.

Anche in questo libro avremo a che fare con un mondo difficile da immaginare, eppure tanto reale quanto disumano.
Una storia che ci fa riscoprire il significato della parola "fiducia" e cosa si è disposti a fare, pur di conquistarsela.
Una storia d'amore che vince sulle differenze, sull'altruismo, su cosa è giusto o sbagliato e che ci fa riflettere sul perché sia giusto imparare a NON giudicare nessuno senza conoscerne la storia.

With much anticipation, we finally have Mike’s story in our hot little hands and oh does JL Drake not disappoint at all!! This story is raw and passionate with such epic twists that keep you on your toes in complete Drake fashion. I have adored Mike since day one. And seeing him find his one was a stunning and epic tale! Then you have Catalina. OMG I loved her for Mike! She is witty and sassy! She gives as good as she gets and their connection is intense. My heart broke for her learning more about her as the story progressed but adore how much of a fighter she is. She has bite!
With every epic twist and turn that I just want to scream from the rooftops, but obviously won’t because I will not give a spoiler! All I can say is that out of the three books so far for the Blackstone books, Freedom is my favorite. It gives so much in the way of everything you need in a story. I completely devoured every single word and I could not get enough. Honestly, if you have not read any of Drake’s work yet, you are so missing out! So please take a chance on her words!

Oh Em Gee, y'all, if you like sexy black ops alpha men- this book and series by JL Drake are so up your alley that you should already be there. I just binge read 3 series by the author to get ready for this book and I am 100% hooked. These stories are raw, gritty, sexy, and full of angst and awful situations.

I am not telling you who this one is about, because you will find out soon enough, but if the author didn't mention it- then I won't either. All I can say is that I was so happy to get in this man's head and see his feelings and I just wanted to give him a freaking hug. His leading lady is not what you expect either, but with chemistry and love, do you ever really have a chance?

All in all, read this book if you like military men doing what is necessary to save US citizens, strong heroines, alpha men with hearts of gold, and wanting to see your favorite past characters! This is a MUST read for me- I loved it!

Freedom by J.L. Drake is book 3 in the Blackstone Series. This is the story of Catalina and Mike. I have read the previous books, which added to my enjoyment of this one.
Mike is a part of the Blackstone brotherhood where they work on missions to take down the Cartel in Mexico along with other missions. Mike is back in the US where on a chance meeting he talks to Catalina then they have another chance encounter where he learns Catalina knows his sister. Catalina comes from a well off family in Mexico but they have criminal actives where love didn't flow...it was a tool used against them. Catalina left that life several years ago to start fresh in the US and work toward living a better life. Mike knows there is something special about Catalina...something he might not be able to walk away from.
Enjoyed their story.

4.5 stars of freedom.
I loved this book for so many reasons. I’m always looking forward to read about characters that haven’t had a great childhood or life overall but there’s always something good going to happen to them.
Mike is the kind of men that gives you chills for his bear appearance but we all know they have a heart and underneath are soft and caring and so loveable.
Catalina is a woman that will always fight before bend to anyone’s rules and together they make a perfect match. Sparks are always in between them and also nothing goes as smoothly as one wishes because there’s always a trust issue, an obstacle to get over or just ones decisions to realise what’s in front of them and what will take to have that happily ever after with the perfect person.
Loved it and can’t recommend it enough.

J.L Drake has done it once again my heart and head were all over the place after finishing this story , Freedom is book three in the Blackstone series . Oh my Mike been waiting for this guys story since he was introduced and I fell even more for him in the one . Catalina was really likable she is so perfect for this hero everything she does was brilliant . Another thing I loved about this book was seeing characters from a series by the author I so fangirld sooo so hard when they appeared .
I can't wait to read more by this amazing author and I can't wait to see what she has in store for her next books . Freedom is a must read along with other stories by the author you don't want to miss anything .

Another five star read! Mike seemed to be just some background character in the Broken Trilogy, but quickly and quietly turned into someone we needed to learn more about. This is his story and seamlessly weaves the Blackstone team and newer characters together to provide a complete package. This story provides a place for all sorts of emotions. While I spent a good deal with tears in my eyes, most of those tears were happy ones. Thank you JL Drake for loving your characters and readers enough to provide wonderful well developed stories with the most beautiful happily ever afters.

FINALLY

I have been waiting for Mike's story since I first met him with Savi and Cole and it's more than I imagined! I could t have asked for a more perfect story for him! The surprises of course around every corner and the practical jokes had me dying! Cat shocked the hell out of me and I'm so glad Mike saved her to take her for himself. My emotions are everywhere now after this perfect story and those steamy scenes had my heart rate sky high! Once again J.L. Drake blew my mind!

Mike is with his team in Mexico and when he returns he meets Catalina. She warns him that things between them can't go anywhere due to her past and his. Mike isn't going to let Catalina go that easy. These two were magic together. Their story is a storm of epic proportions that I couldn't get enough of and kept me on edge til the last page. A wonderful read and great characters in this series.

this was an ok read, i was just disappointed about mike he was portrayed as such an alphaonly for him to be soo in touch with his feelings and through out the book. and the fact that he had a girl stringing him along just made hard to swallow.

I loved this book. Seems like I waited so long to read Mike's book and it didn't disappoint. It had me hooked from the start and i finished it in one sitting. Absolutely loved it!
