Summary of Isabel Wilkerson's Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents

Rate this book
Isabel Wilkerson is an American journalist and the author of two books. She became the first African American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize. Her second book, The Origins of Our Discontents, makes a strong case for the existence of a primarily two-tiered caste-system in the U. S., assigning White people to the dominant caste and Black people to the subordinate caste. This system has underlined predefined roles for everyone and expects them to act accordingly. The author also draws parallels between the caste systems in the U. S. and India.

This summary of Origins of Our Discontents shows clearly that the book has a lot of heart. It captures the essence of the original and highlights why readers need to read it. It covers the gist of the actual book thoroughly.

Choose this summary because it does not miss any of the defining aspects of Caste. Its prose flows easily to take the readers from one chapter to another. It is a very high quality and interesting book.
