If you want a book where you feel strongly for every character - this is the book for you!
The 5 main characters in this book are all teenagers who have had their memories wiped, and have also developed unnatural powers. We begin by being introduced to these characters one by one, and right from the start they are all individual characters, and as they develop over the following pages you will have strong feelings for them. Some that you like you'll grow to be wary of, those you disliked you'll love.
Also, this book has one of the best love triangles I've seen! After initially routing for one pairing, I soon preferred the other, and the triangle wasn't over-done at all. As someone who usually enjoys a slow burn romance that builds over a series, I was surprised how invested in this romance I was. But it seemed realistic, so that's probably why.
This is definitely a character-driven book. There was more emotional action than physical action scenes, I wouldn't have minded some extra action with the powers.
I would recommend this to any fans of sci-fi and fantasy, and anyone with an interest in science.
Trigger warnings - suicide and depression although these topics are handled carefully
Thank you to the author and book sirens for my copy of the ebook
This is a great story filled with drama, tragedy, amnesia, romance and some intriguing characters! A well written and unique storyline with a twist at the end I did not see coming and characters with special powers.
Is it better to forget your past if you’re able to become something potentially better? I really enjoyed this read. It was fast paced but so thought invoking. The characters find themselves in a situation where they don’t remember how they got there. Some ‘good’ guys and some ‘bad’ guys but somehow the author writes them so amazingly that you sympathize with them all. I like the interactions between all the characters and seeing how they sort everything out wether it be emotions, working areas or friendships. Great story that really makes you stop and think...what if?

This was a unique book for me. I liked it a lot. Unique plot and characters. Lots of interesting things going on. A little twist at the end. Only a small amount of violence and no graphic sexual content or swearing. I recommend it for all ages. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book drew me in right from the start. I didn't want to put it down. I loved her writing style. I loved the characterisation and chemistry between the characters. They were so real! There were quite a few times when I laughed aloud at character thoughts and interactions. I became emotionally invested in each of the characters, to the point where I regretted parting with my kindle while reading this. Curse needing to sleep and having a life! :P The way I felt during and after reading this book, it definitely earns 5 stars from me!
I just wish the book was longer!! The story was so captivating, even when it was just trivial stuff. A.C. Ward knew exactly how to tug on my heart strings. What's next in the lives of these characters??

I really enjoyed this read, I consumed it within a few hours. The story starts with a girl waking up in an unfamiliar room, with no memories and a strange voice inside her head. As the story progresses, we find out she is in some sort of windowless facility with several others and they all have some type of "super power." But not quite sure why or how. The story brings up the topic of suicide, with a few scenes depicted of such. I loved the characters and how they found family and acceptance, after choosing to forget about their pasts. I look forward to more from this author.
Absolutely amazing, no, more than just amazing; this is a masterpiece, perfectly written and engaging from start to finish, along with incredible characters and a lusciously complex plot. I absolutely loved this!

The title is already loaded with connotation , what forgetting can potential bring. The story itself plays in a facility where Kali wakes up. Even though they chose to forget, downside is that you don't remember why you are there. When trying to escape she meets Atlus, Paean, Pele and Amn. During this escape they realize they have powers.
But nothing is what it seems , what is the reason that they are held captivity? It is a tale full of friendship, romance, jealousy, action and violence when they are trying to come to terms with their super powers.
I liked that it begins from a clean slate, you make your own future without being bogged down by your past. A new you a new life. The story is written very well and is very entertaining, even if all the action is within this facility, with clever twists and turns.
She has no memories of her life before her time now. She is told she chose to lose those memories but why? She now has the ability to freeze time. What will she do? Will she help others to escape? Will she stay and learn more? See what she does

Author AC Ward considers weighty themes such as forgiveness, trust, maturing and evolving emotionally without hitting the reader over the head. The Potential of Forgetting is well-paced with amnesiac protagonists learning about themselves and each other as they explore their surroundings. Enough questions are left unanswered to allow for sequels. While this book clearly falls in the YA fantasy category, it does not feature a bleak dystopia.

I must admit that I was not thrilled with the book when I first started reading it. I am, however, so very glad I kept reading to the end...the characters were quite interesting - each fighting their own demons (so to speak). A central theme to the book is whether or not forgetting one's past can lead to a better future. The main characters are young adults so there was limited violence and no graphic sexual content. The main characters discover they have special powers - is that a good thing or not? Can they escape from their past? Would you choose to forget your past if doing so meant you could reach a different (or higher) potential? This is the central question I found as I read this thoughtful and action-filled book. Kali must fight both internal and external battles and come to terms with the truth about herself as she becomes the glue to a group of possible superheroes. The backstory is released at just the right times to push the story forward, and I found myself liking even the more "unlikeable" characters as they learn to trust one another and the process they find themselves inside.
For those who enjoy X-men, academy other paranormal reads, this is for you.
The opening chapters give me the impression of a LitRPG story as a group of amnesiac people forming up for an adventure: newbie Champions characters, anyone? The story then turns to character development: growing skills through practice which occasionally gets out-of-hand. Plenty of unexpected, yet inspiring, events occur.
Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Informative. Inspirational. Page-turner. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
I received a review copy of this book from a third party. This is my honest review.
It took me awhile to get into this story, but I stuck with it and found that it was actually a good story line. I found that there was a lot of rehashing, which does annoy me at times. However the storyline was different from the norm. Kali wakes up with no memories, in a small room, she escapes, and along the way helps others to escape. All captives have an ability that is not normal, Kali’s is the power to stop time. The group end up staying where they have been held and discover that they themselves chose to have their memories erased. Would you choose to erase your past if you could. An interesting read. I found this book to be a slow starter and almost gave up on reading it but, it quickly gathered more characters and built up speed. In the beginning, other than trying to escape, we didn’t know much about the characters. Each of them and their backstories were slowly revealed as the plot progresses.
The one disappointment for me was never learning what Amn’s backstory entailed. At the end of the book the author stated she had provided a link to a short story that would provide background on Amn but, when I followed the link, I only found links to her newer books.

The Potential of Forgetting is an outstanding story filled with everything that we could wish for: romance, drama, action, nicely done characters.
It was a fast paced, enjoyable and interesting read. Even though that this book is a YA fantasy I can recommend it to anyone, who would like to read an amazing story.
