Andy Bontranger never intended to leave Bethel and his community, but the Englisch world beckoned to him telling him he could be more than a simple farmer. Now a doctor, Andy has lost his way and returns to a town near his former community.
When Bethel’s daughter has an accident, Bethel has no choice but to take her to the new doctor in town and Andy and Bethel set eyes on each other for the first time since they were teens. As Andy and Bethel come to grips with their past choices, the faith of each is tested.
Can Andy trust himself to be led by God, or is he selfishly following his own desires and repeating the mistakes of his youth. Can Bethel truly forgive Andy for his silent betrayal, or forgive herself, for the choices she has made. As their past catches up with their future, Bethel and Andy must each choose to follow God’s path for them, whatever that is, or once more bear the consequences of their actions.

Who was the editor because every single error I found SHOULD have been caught by Beta or ARC readers. And the editor should have found those and the stilted use of Us and Thou in prayers but not always. Very off-putting. A great idea and I was looking forward to this story. You will know no more about Dr. Andy at the end of the book than you do before reading it. Almost the same for Bethel. No character becomes a favorite. First book by this author and probably my last.
I really enjoyed this book and storyline very much. It is a sweet story and easy to understand and read. I would read it again and recommend it to anyone.
This book was so worth the read. The story stirred my heart... each character had their own personality and melded together with such love and tenderness fir each other. I highly recommend this book and hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
An Amish boy left his home during Rumpspringa. He returns as a doctor to join a practice near his home. His first patient is the daughter of the girl he left behind. A fairly short story. This author could easily have made the story longer. I wish she had.
