Seriously, if you are an educator or work in a library, this is a book to keep in your back pocket for your Nancy fans. It also will inspire grown-up's to come up with creative ways to incorporate other kids' books with parties. After all, nobody does it fancier than Fancy Nancy!
This book is cute but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the Fancy Nancy books of stories. It does give some cute ideas for tea parties though, for food & beverages, decorations, games to play, etc. etc. Unfortunately, the last page of the copy of the book I read was torn out and apparently consisted of recipe cards, so I didn’t see those. Nancy is as adorable as usual, and I think this is the first time I remember learning her last name. The tea party for the dolls and its refreshments were the cutes, but all the various refreshments made me hungry. Girly girls, Fancy Nancy fans, girls who like to entertain friends or their dolls, and girls who enjoy giving parties should appreciate this book. Fancy English and French words & phrases are included! 3 ½ stars

So, ANGIE!, I got one of these books a while back when you added it to your list. Now we get one or two every time we go to the library. My oldest girl loves them and wants everything to be fancy now. Thanks a lot! I'm guessing you may know how I feel with at least one of your girls? I'm more of a plain type. I would fit right in with the rest of the Clancy Clan.
This was absolutely adorable! I loved all the information related to the tea parties especially since I didn't know a lot of stuff and Nancy gave some excellent craft ideas!!
This was a how-to book for kids on how to host their own tea party and "be fancy". Read during babysitting.
Fancy Nancy REALLY likes to tell you how every word is fancy for something else. Some of them make sense - explaining refreshments, French words like crudités, etc.
But at some points it was excessive and annoying, like when she "explained" that "exhausted is a fancy word for tired" 🙄 and similar things like that.
Some of the craft and food/drink ideas were pretty cool, albeit unhealthy.
Bonus points for the doll named Marabelle Lavinia Chandelier, which made us crack up. The poor green doll was sitting there and I said he looked depressed and like he wanted to die, and it became a whole joke😆
This is kind of a fun book for kids but not really bedtime story material (which we were reading it as).
I would recommend to [parents of] girls or boys who are interested in learning how to host a tea party.
Fancy Nancy: Tea Parties is a book all about how to set up your first tea party in the fanciest way possible! She gives a step-by-step guide on how to make recipes for drinks and refreshments at the party, as well as how to create her fancy place mats and paper napkins. This book could be used in a center where I ask the students to answer questions about the table of contents, or label the steps of a recipe in order. I personally love this book, and I think it would also be a fun read aloud due to all of the new French words and English words the kids would be learning. O'Connor would use bigger, more complex words in her sentences and then put an easier, more recognizable word under it for the kids to understand. This, along with the words in French, will help kids get exposed to more rich vocabulary. This book has lots of good qualities, and I think that this would be suitable for the older elementary grades!
Our daughter is such a mix of interests right now! She loves superheros but she LOVES Fancy Nancy books too. This book was all about different types of tea parties you can have and what you should do at each type.
While it was a bit hard to read it as a bedtime book like we were doing, it was still a cute book. I told my daughter that maybe when she is 4 or 5 we can do a tea party with her friends (either for her birthday or just in general) and we can use some of the recipes and decorations from this book.
I always love the vocabulary words in these books as well.

This is almost a guide rather than a book. There are recipes, settings, and game ideas for planning your own tea party. This isn't exactly a book for a read aloud, but it is unique and fun for little girls. If anyone wanted to plan a tea party, this book covers all the bases. I enjoyed reading the ideas in this story. The illustrations are great, and the book is a good tool to spark a young girls imagination.
I've read Fancy Nancy Tea Party story book by Jane O Connor. This book might be about young girl Nancy who is hosting a tea party and had thought of what kind of refreshments to serve like using plastic spoons and plates. I enjoyed the book because it was interesting story to read with friends and family. Overall I dedicate the book to an four and five year old age group those who also like to read interesting books with their parents. By:Shaalini Googieni
My daughter, who is almost 4, discovered tea parties last year because her Nana has them with her friends. Then she had to have a private tea party with Nana, and likes to pretend to serve tea ever day. This book captures the spirit and essence of those tea parties - a fancy event to be shared by friends. Fancy Nancy does an amazing job of showing us how to have a tea party and use all the proper and fancy terms for such parties. This book will delight, educate and entertain time and time again. This book is wonderfully written and as always in the Fancy Nancy Series incredibly illustrated. The book also includes four fancy Nancy recipe cards that can be pulled out so your child can start collecting her (or his) own recipes.
This is isn't a typical Fancy Nancy storybook, but rather an instructional book on how to host different types of tea parties (in Nancy's signature voice). It includes recipes for both food and beverages, as well as invitation ideas, table settings, and games to play. It's very cute and a dream for a kid who loves to host pretty tea parties.
A very, light, girly, Fancy Nancy-esque guide to etiquette and hosting a tea party. Complete with recipes and crafts. I'd love to throw a party like this for little girls! Maybe my niece will like Fancy Nancy...
I was hesitant to pick up this book but here we are. And now I find myself preparing for a Fancy Nancy tea party for my daughter and her cousins. Lots of great practical ideas and easy recipes to follow. It reminds me of my childhood diy books.
This book is full of cute ideas that it will be fun and easy to do with small children. It also includes some French words along with the pronunciation and meaning. We absolutely loved it! Lucky library find!
This book doesn't have a story line, it's definitely more of a how-to book. It's not really appropriate for story time, but great to help plan a tea party for kids or for helping kids plan a tea party!
