EMP Ranch

The thin thread holding the civilized world together has been severed.

A ranch on the outskirts of a city becomes the sanctuary for a family during the unfolding crisis of an EMP. The nation's power grid has failed. Hundreds of millions are left without basic utilities, and the enemy responsible for the EMP's detonation now wreaks havoc throughout the countryside.

The Last Orchard

Charlie Decker traveled to Seattle to acquire a much needed loan for his family’s Orchard. After a dozen requests, Charlie is forced to head home empty handed. But his plans are derailed after an unexpected attack on the city renders all electronics useless. No cars. No phones. Everything about the modern world has been destroyed. And that’s when the chaos begins.

I used to enjoy these books figuring I could learn something useful and enjoy a story but lately theses are becoming ridiculous. It’s more about the fight than the survival. Everyone is trying to kill each other and take over the world. And everything happens within hours of the catastrophe. I find it hard to believe that most people will jump automatically to emp in a power outage. Also many will wait to see if power returns for a few hours before heading home to hole up with family. Very doubtful they will be recruiting an army within hours of event. I realize this is fiction and I enjoy a story with my end of the World Cup of coffee but it would work better if it was a bit more realistic.

Wow! Surviving the EMP was eye opening!

The story line is terrifying and I pray this never happens. I loved the depth of the characters and cried when they wanted to or did. The key characters emerged as survivors, leaders and heroes. This book was paced fast enough to keep you quickly turning the pages but not so fast you had to go back and re-read pages. Inside you cheered for the good side and seethed with anger at the invaders and destructive thinking that they could just kill because of their sadistic nature. People are good at the core or bad.

I listened to this on audiobook and have to say the narrators did it no favours. I wonder if I had physically read this would it have been better. But I don’t think so. I wanted to scream in frustration in their presentation and am not able to finish the last book in series. The characters in both books don't seem to have any body or substance to them and the stories which could have had so much potential are lack lustre and had a feeling of being incomplete. I just can’t recommend this and feel I wasted my money.

Excellent adventure

Two well-written novels which are scary because they are what we all really might be faced with someday. What would we do if a country attacked the U.S. And knocked out all the advanced devices we rely on every minute of every day? These books describe how two groups of people cope with the "new world" into which they are thrown. Not everyone survives. What will take take?

The ending had me on the edge of me seat!

EXCEL ENT! lately I've been getting into the post apocalypse books. This one is by far the BEST one that I've read. Not only that but it's the best book, hands down, I've read in a very very long! The ending had me rivited, tears smiles,I had it all. So so good I'm now sorry it was the end. Looking forward to checking out his other books. Thanks for a great read!

Another well written exciting 2 book box set from this author. The plots are entertaining and a pleasure to read whilst the characters have some depth to them. A good box set.

From the beginning you start to know the characters, the situation and are drawn in. At one point I was acutally sitting straight up and reading as fast as I could to find out what was going to happen. And then as it goes with all good books it ended, I want more,

Good read !!

I gave this book 4 stars because it's the kind I think every book should have. I don't think you need 4 books to tell your story.

The two book set was very entertaining and held much drama, tension and danger. Quite a bit of violence as expected in an apocalyptic world. I highly recommend it.

Fighting for a Future

More fighting than I love but engaging and optimistic. Well written. Coordination between military and non military defenses. Recommend x
