Forbidden… that’s what Clarissa Lynne Black was. People do desperate things in desperate times. Sleeping with my brother’s fiancé wasn’t supposed to be one of them. Especially on the day of his funeral. It should have been a one-time thing. Something that shouldn’t have happened at all. Something I walked away from, but I couldn’t let go. Once I heard her sing I was a goner. She was like a siren, calling to me with her sultry voice and stunning beauty. So, I took her home. I gave her everything a woman could want. I made it my mission to win her heart. Zack Kincaid, was no quitter. I should have known from the beginning she wasn’t mine to keep, but damn if I didn’t want her. And I definitely shouldn’t have fallen in love with her, because you can’t keep what was never yours to begin with.

I had used Zack for my own selfish reasons. To ease the loneliness. To erase, if only for a few hours, the sadness that filled me. Sleeping with him had been wrong. But if something was so wrong, why did it have to feel so right? I figured we’d call it an indiscretion and go our separate ways. No one would be the wiser. But then he offered me something no one else could… a fresh start. After having my world crash down around me and finding myself homeless, I needed it desperately. So, I traveled halfway across the country with Zack and left behind the last three years of my life. There were things he didn’t know about me. Things I should have told him before we slept together. Now, I felt like it was too late. I had spun a tangled web I wasn’t sure I would be able to escape. But, instead of being the spider, I was the fly.
Sabrina Wagner writes sweet, sassy, sexy romance novels featuring tattooed men and the strong women who challenge them. After twenty-six years of being an elementary school teacher, she left the classroom and began writing fulltime. Now she spends her time crafting steamy stories about stubborn, alpha men and the sassy women who bring them to their knees.
Sabrina lives in Michigan with her true-life, alpha-hero husband. She has two twenty-something children and two adorable cats, Olive and Moo. Sabrina thrives off caffeine, enjoys spending time with her family, and loves basking in the sun. It’s rare to find her without a book in her hand or a story spinning through her head.
Sabrina believes true friends should be treasured, a woman’s strength is forged by the fire of affliction, and everyone deserves a happy ending. She enjoys spending time with her family, cuddling her kittens, walking on the beach, and of course, reading. Sabrina is a hopeless romantic and knows all too well that life is full of twists and turns, but the bumpy road is what leads to our true destination.
I picked up this book after one of my book friends was raving about this author!
I gave it a try and man I really did love the book and fell in love with this author's writing as well.
I went in blind and Lord all I can say is after that cliffy I had to go one click ASAP!! Thank you book God's for the second book being released so I don't have to wait lol
If you haven't read this book..y'all make sure you read soon!! 💕
This was first in the Forever Inked Novels and it's so good. I fell in love with both Russia and Zack. Sabrina is a newer to me author and she's very talented. She definitely brought the characters to life, raw emotions, with the ups and downs of life, as well as new love.
I love that this is set in not only my home state but with a city that is practically in my backyard.
This books ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I have to find out what happens!
The author did an amazing job keeping my interest in the book. This was my first romance novel and I wasn't sure how I would like it. The characters were well developed and I really felt empathy for her main protagonist, Rissa. It had a great story line and a secret that needed to be told. The romantic scenes in the book were erotic and well written. The book ended with a cliff hanger, so I'm off to get Sabrina's next book in the Tattooed Duet series "Tattooed Souls"!!
I received a copy of this book direct from the author and have promised to leave her an honest review in exchange. I will say upfront that the book ends in a cliffhanger and that the rest of the story is in Book 2 of the series Tattooed Duet. But please read the rest of this review before making a judgment (and remember that rarely, and I mean RARELY, will I consider reading and reviewing a book that ends in a cliffhanger, so that says a lot about what I thought about this author's writing).
I really liked this story line. Zack is hugely attracted to his brother's fiance', and his timing is terrible - it is in the middle of his brother's funeral. He feels both guilt and jealousy over this woman and his brother, despite knowing that the jealousy is misplaced, since his brother has died. Rissa is lost without Zack's brother, Wesley. Add to that, Wesley's father is a total a$$ throughout the entire book, literally and figuratively kicking Rissa to the curb immediately upon his son's death. Now you have a recipe that cannot possibly go well for Rissa. Enter Zack and his suggestion that she go home with him to the Detroit area. She agrees knowing that will give her a clean slate and a fresh start, but more importantly, will give her an opportunity to explore what she's already feeling for Zack.
But Rissa is keeping a HUGE secret from Zack, one that might tear them apart if she doesn't tell him soon. And a secret that has the potential to drive him away permanently. And that's where my description ends, since I don't want to have to label this review "spoiler alert".
I'm thinking readers will cheer to see Rissa on stage with one of Zack's clients. And I'm thinking they'll understand Zack's jealousy when she starts bartending again (something she's done in the past to support herself).
The pace of the book occasionally slows but overall it is well written. My own personal preference is that Zack's "preferences" should have been explored earlier in the book, but that's just me...the steamier the better when it comes to the darker side of it all. Zack's needs and wants in the bedroom are handled well, and with a lot of respect towards Rissa. I like that, because not all dark sex can be classified as BDSM, but ALL BDSM is respectful and consensual. At least the good stuff is. ;-)
I felt the book could have been faster paced with a bit more action and more of a balance between narrative and dialogue, perhaps a little less narrative when telling the story and more of allowing the characters to tell it. But that, again, is a personal preference and one I can live without. I read it, I liked it, and I've pre-ordered book 2. Yes, this ends on a Cliffhanger, but it is a cliffhanger that every reader will see coming once they've read the book. HOWEVER, before you allow that to stop you from buying the book, I hope you've read this review and understand I'm with you on disliking a cliffhanger, except when it FITS. And this one does fit the story well.
Amount of sex 4 / 5 How explicit 4 / 5 Amount of BDSM/Fetish 1.5 / 5 Story 5 / 5 Overall: 5 / 5
Wow! What a great book!
Tattooed Hearts is the first book in the Tattooed Duet series written by author Sabrina Wagner. This duet is a spin-off from the author’s Hearts Series. I had not read the books in the Hearts Series and was able to follow along without any issues. The couples from the series did appear within this story, but not in a confusing way for those that haven't read it. I am more curious about their stories and will be adding them to my ever-growing TBR list. I think reading the series before will lay a better understanding of the background between some of the characters, but just know it's not necessary.
Tattooed Hearts tells the story of Clarissa Lynn Black (Rissa). Both of her parents have passed away, and she only has her fiance Wes, who she is living with. Suddenly, he passes away unexpectedly, and she feels very alone. His family is very rich, and his father is a really horrible man who assumes she is only after his money. So, he bans her from the funeral and gives her three days to vacate their apartment. Zack is Wes’s brother, and he does not get along with his father at all. He helps Rissa get back on her feet including helping her move in with him. They become very close, but Rissa is keeping a big secret.

Wow! Ok so it’s a 4.75 because of the insta love, but I really enjoyed this!! Picking up book 2!!
Rissa, I really liked her! I know she was lying, but within 48 hours Zack was saying he loved her… so I mean he fell really fast! I loved them together though. Yes I know Wes! But without that, I really liked them together. I love that she is doing so well since she moved to Michigan. When she sang with Bobby, I loved it! 🥰
Zack, oh Zack, you are so generous and helpful! You wanted to protect her and you said you would be there for her. I know you have a hard time trusting but dang!! You wouldn’t let her try to make her own way and then what you said to her when you find out!! Wow! You made me super angry!!!
I am starting book 2 tonight! I need to see what happens with them!!!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ This was such a good book! I had this book for a while and this was a first of me reading it and it’s pretty good! It ends on a cliffhanger so be careful!
I’m not a fan of drama and angst from lack of communication or misunderstandings. The writing was on the wall from the beginning, but I had hoped H&h would have been more mature, better developed characters to avoid it. The story had grey potential.
It’ll end in that cliffy for me, but there is a book 2 if this is your jam.
