LANDON My former student. My new roommate. My greatest weakness….
Autumn: It’s not that I’m hiding out in this hard luck little town. But I’m twenty-six years old, I’ve had one boyfriend and he ditched me for my sister. So I might be a little cynical. Then again, perhaps a high school math teacher shouldn’t expect romance. I’d be better off sticking to the good things in life, such as my job at Emblem High, my amazing circle of friends, and my vintage record collection. I shouldn’t waste time beating myself up over past choices or crying over the people who betrayed me. And I definitely shouldn’t obsess over the washboard abs belonging to the guy who just moved in down the hall. There’s no denying Landon Gentry is hot. He is also crude, sarcastic, messy and downright exasperating. And just to add one more complication, Landon also used to be my student. All in all, my new roommate is the last guy I should be thinking about. That doesn’t mean I’ll be able to resist him...
Landon: The football scholarship was my ticket out of town and I never planned to come back. However, blowing out my knee in the last game of the season spelled the end of my college days. Still, I wouldn’t have returned if not for my little brother. He’s lost his way since I left. And I’m the only one who cares enough to help him find it again. Between working two jobs and trying to steer my brother back in line I’ve got enough to focus on. I don’t need to get distracted by a quirky schoolteacher with a great body. But Autumn’s not just some sexy girl who rents a house with me. She’s gorgeous and feisty and clueless about the fact that she’s been my fantasy for years. Seeing her right in front of me every day is just too tempting to pass up. Even if giving in might mean disaster for us both... l
I'm a huge fan of insta-love , grunge era flannel, my vintage Kenmore sewing machine, embroidered dishcloths and absolutely everything that has to do with 1980s pop culture (i.e. leg warmers, scrunchies, big hair, early Madonna, boom boxes, wood paneled walls, stonewash jeans, etc).
If you believe in Happily Ever After and improbable love stories, chances are I'll love you too!!
This was just an ok read for me, which really bums me out because I love this author. I was hesitant to start it because the student/teacher trope isn't my favorite by any means, but I loved the fact that the romance between Landon and Autumn didn't start until after Landon graduated and was gone for a few years. That to me made it all more believable, especially with him being her new roommate. They did have some very sweet moments together, but there was just such a disconnect between me and the characters, and a lot of telling versus showing. This book is still worth reading if you've read all of the Gentry books, but this just wasn't my favorite.
Autumn Katsaros never thought as a teacher at Emblem High she would be swooning for new roommate Landon Gentry but, sometimes life throws you a curve ball. He is a former student and should be off limits but, when those Gentry boys want something or someone...nothing gets in their way. This is a great addition to the Gentry series. They both have pasts they would like to move on from. Maybe together they can find what they are looking for. I really enjoyed learning more about Landon and the interactions between these two. I also enjoyed meeting his brother Justin and his struggles. I bet he gets a book one day too! If you enjoy a small town, redemption romance then you will love this one! Emblem truly is a character all on its own and all those that live there create a memorable romance series worth picking up. Told in dual POV
4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. This is my favorite of the recent books by Cora Brent. There are definitely familiar faces from the Gentry world and Ruins of Emblem, but you can easily read this book without having read any previous books.
I really enjoyed watching Landon grow to love Autumn. And the care and worry he has over his brother, which is what brings him back to town after an injury ends his college football career, was really sweet. Autumn is fun and a good teacher.
If you’ve ever read Cora Brent before, this has all the same steamy goodness you’ve come to know, with a group of people you root for and love.
Landon is book three from the Ruins of Emblem series. It can be read as a complete standalone but I recommend starting from book one where we first meet Landon. And if you really want to know most of the other characters I recommend starting from the Gentry Boy's Series, followed by the Gentry Generations Series. This story focuses on Landon Gentry and Autumn Katsaros.
Landon has grown up so much the last few years. He's really taken responsibility of his life and he's a man on a mission to do better and be better, not only for himself but for his brother. He's strong, ambitious, observant, and attentive. He's lucky enough to have had some guidance from his cousins who have shown him the importance of family and what a family should be and how a man should act.
Autumn was selfless, caring, and compassionate. She lacks family support but has made her own little family with her friends. Her students are her world and she's a great teacher. She also has the patience of a Saint for not only dealing with her students, but dealing with her family and their lack of empathy. She's an all around class act in my opinion.
This is a forbidden, age gap romance. It was an unpredictable slow burn. There were some heartbreaking moments, and moments of angst. I appreciate the fact that Brent didn't add in any cheesey cliches to the story. The story demonstrated that life doesn't always pan out the way we expect. But you have to take life by the balls and make the best of it.
I LOVE the Gentry's!! I've loved every single book I've read and Landon was no different. The Gentry's always overcome trials and tribulations. They face their demons and mature to be hard working, caring, loving individuals. They always find a way to redemption and grow up to be sweet and gentlemenish men. I can't wait for the next book. I'm hoping Justin and Nesto will get their own books too!!
Landon is a standalone set in the Gentry Boys world, with small town vibes, where brotherhood and family take reign. The story of Landon and Autumn is an unexpected romance, opposites attract, slow burn romance.
As the third book in the Ruins of Emblem series, Landon Gentry brings to light the strong devotion to what family means in the infamous small town. The trope of former teacher-student relation turned roommates is full of angst and undeniable chemistry in this slow-burn romance that is sure to keep you impassioned.
When having his football dreams crushed, Landon returns to Emblem and soon learns of challenges that test his resilience. There is a stronger calling that forces Landon to sacrifice and embrace being back in his younger brother’s life. Landon is a smart, young man who is tenacious and sets his mind on what he wants, and learns to make his dreams a reality. And when Landon’s world causes him to reconnect with his teenage fantasy/former teacher, Autumn Katsaros, well all hands are on deck.
As for the math genius teacher, Autumn Katsaros, she has endured the miscalculations of the choices she has made, leaving her to deal with those outcomes of dysfunctional family ties, while seeking refuge in the friendships at Emblem, and questioning her attraction to former student turned roommate, Landon Gentry. And when that connection deepens, Autumn is left with making a choice that will change her life forever.
“You make my dreams comes true, dreams I never even knew I had.” - Autumn Katsaros
After reading Landon complete with a HEA, I hope to read the first generation of Gentry families saga to complete the world that Brent has built on—Emblem—more than just a desert town with an infamous prison. Emblem is a town full of familial ties that extend to those who also get folded in.
Overall, I was left satisfied and anxious for another book in Emblem. Supporting characters leave the reader wanting to remain in the small town of romances.
I reviewed an ARC voluntarily, and look forward to future novels in the series by the author.
If I could give this book a 10 stars ,I would ,this book was so much deserving of 5 stars. I have been a fan of Cora's from the very beginning and fell in love with each of The Gentry Men And Their Families. If you're anything like me each story makes you fall in love with them even more deeply and you can't choose just one story, But With Landon's book it will throw you through so many emotions and of Heartbreak and Hope and Fear and touches on certain things that we fear the most with our own children and brings light back into the darkness and shows you truly what family and community is all about and how they stick together for each other even if you're not a close relative they still protect their own. This book is a must read and I won't give anything away. I laughed in spots and my heart broke in spots and literally hid my face in my pillow and ugly cry. Cora did a phenomenal job with certain topics in this book that is a issue in today's world. I was so excited we got to see our favorite Gentrys and their families as well in this book and couldn't stop laughing with Chase and Creed and their mischief lol and how Deck is still a force to be reckoned with even after all these years. Thank you so very much Cora Brent for Landon's book I have been waiting patiently for this book since Candace saw him in the hospital. You absolutely did him justice and now I'm excited to see what you do for Justin's book. I could keep going on and on about this book but this is absolutely one fantastic book and must read. Congratulations Cora on another phenomenal hit with Landon's book.
If you have never read a book featuring the Gentry family, then you have been missing out big time! But don't worry, there is no better place to start your love of this family than with Landon. This is truly a great raw emotional ride, one I didn't want to stop. Landon has had a tough upbringing but that has not stopped him from turning out to be caring and wise beyond his years. Cora Brent's portrayal of Landon is one of a kind.
Love can never be shared to much
Be prepared to fall in love with this once cocky 20 year whose promising football career was cut short with a leg injury and he has now returned to Emblem, where the gangs' rule and incentives are offered to get teachers to come to the city to work in the local high school. It is one of those gangs that Landon's younger brother Justin is on the brink of joining, but Landon is back and will fight for his brother. With Landon's return, it brings him back in direct contact with his maths teacher, 26-year Autumn who also happens to be Landon's cousin's best friend. One embarrassing moment 2 years prior can still make Autnm blush, and now Landon is 2 years older, hotter than ever, and no longer her student and the sparks are brighter than ever.
But Landon and Autnms's path is not going to an easy one, the gang attacks are ramping up, family drama is at boiling point, and tragedy just around the corner. Landon's story has it all!
Do you ever hear a book family name and get giddy? That is me with the Gentry’s! (Sigh/Staring Off) Every story has me falling more in love with them all. Yikes. Best Family EVER.
So Landon is our yummy Gentry coming home again. He had been the golden athlete whose life changed after a injury in college. His return is all about family, specifically his younger brother. Landon has no ego and has started working at the high school doing janitorial work. This is two fold for him because he has employment and is wanting to be near his brother.
Depending on your thoughts of teacher/previous student storylines, this has a touch of naughty. Wink. The younger guy element is hot. Autumn is said teacher who is a few years older than Landon and had been his teacher when he was in school. Now that they are both working at the high school... well it is the beginning of everything. Wink Wink!
Ms. Brent does what she does well in this book. You get all kinds of family drama with Landon and Autumn as well as the latest scoop on the town of Emblem. Plan to fall into this world and love all the moments in this story. My heart was even happier when more Gentry’s showed up. Eek SOOO FLIPPING GOOD!
What an awesome five star book. Happy Reading Everyone!
In true Cora fashion she's given us another Gentry to fall in love with and fall I did!
Landon Gentry has been through hell, his upbringing was less than stellar to say the least and a life changing event ends a promising future which lands him back working at the one place he thought he escaped.....Emblem High. Autumn Katsaros has had issues of her own, one is her less than caring family and the other a jackass ex, now The only place she feels she belongs is..... Emblem. These two may have had a difficult time their past not ideal but together they were stronger, determined, compassionate and full of hope for each other and a love that was unbreakable!
This story was one that drew me in from the beginning and had a hold on my heart till the very end. This couple, this family this story was EVERYTHING and one that you should absolutely read!
Well this is my humble opinion but, I think I just read the perfect book. Why do I say this, because Landon and Autumn have a love that slowly builds that includes respect and careful building of its intensity. Don’t get my wrong this is not a sappy love book, there’s drama, danger and the word building and characters make you keep on turning the pages. All that is external to their relationship, they build a friendship that withstands hell weddings and teenage brothers loosing their way. When Landon and Autumn become and us it’s built so perfectly that we don’t doubt for a second that it will not falter. I absolutely one hundred percent recommend this book!!
Landon stole my heart. Not only did he mature from a cocky kid to a responsible, thoughtful, man but the depth of his love for his brother was moving. For a time, the only good thing Landon had in his life was the backing of the Gentry family. With their guidance you could see his character grow and mature as each chapter went by. And to see him pay the same type of support forward was truly inspiring. Autumn was such a sweetheart. At first I wasn’t sure I could see them together but I quickly changed my mind. They were perfect for each other and I was pulling for them all the way. Despite their families, both were really good people that had been dealt a bad hand. I loved that they both overcame so much and found happiness with each other. It was great to see the rest of the Gentry clan. I adored this book.
Landon is yet another Gentry boy that is going to have feeling breathless as your heart melts and your temperature rises. The beautifully written and very moving book delivers a powerful punch straight to your heart as Landon and Autumn's story unfolds. I thought these two made a wonderful couple and I really wanted them to get that HEA so badly. These were complex characters and the each had some baggage. I felt this made them very easy to relate to and to sympathize with. I felt that the chemistry was steamy, the attraction undeniable and the emotions rich and abundant. I adored it! I am posting an independent, impartial review.
5* Landon has returned to Emblem to help his brother Justin now that his football career is over due to injury. Autumn was Landon teacher in high school and now teachers Justin at Emblem high school, unfortunately he's skipping school and getting into trouble. In true Gentry style the family proves once again how awesome they are. I've been hooked on the Gentry family since reading the triplets story of Cord, Chase and Creed and definitely recommend reading them all. Start with "Draw" and follow them all. Brilliant series
Oh Landon, how I love thee....both the book and the character. Landon Gentry is a Gentry through and through. Good looking ✔ dirty talking ✔ rough around the edges ✔✔ sweet and sexy ✔ He has had a rough life all around and then he suffered a career ending knee injury. With nowhere else to really go, and wanting to look after his younger brother, he ends up back in Emblem. Turns out, that is a life changing move when he comes face to face with one of his former teachers Autumn. She hasn't had easy time of it either, especially considering her sister is marrying her ex-fiance.
But this book is more than a love story. It's life lessons and redemption, it's family and heart break. It's just straight up real life. Gah! I seriously loved their HEA
When opposites attract! This is Landon and Autumn's story and this couple have history, the attraction they both felt towards each other has been building and simmering for years. Years later when Landon has finished school and Autumn is no longer his teacher they are once again drawn to each other but this time it’s on different terms. Landon is now renting a room in Autumn’s house and let’s just say old feelings ignite! Their chemistry was real and you couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to follow their story. Amazing read!!
People who have read the Gentry series will know that all our Gentry heros have a heart of gold. They're sexy, loving, protective and strong. Landon is no exception except he has a little bit more. He's deliciously sweet, humble, kind and all that goodness and then some!
Absolutely gobbled it up! I savoured every word because i can never get enough! Hi my name is Kerry and i'm a proud Gentry addict!
I just fell from the start for Landon. He's been dealt a massive blow to his future and ends up returning to Emblem. He manages to get a Janitor job at the place he wanted to run from, his old high school. He's not bothered too much about it because it means he can keep his eye on his younger brother Justin who he hasn't been in touch with much since leaving. What he finds is not the brother he left behind. He's gutted and blames himself but he's determined not to give up on the troubled young man.
Autumn is excited to start a new year as a high school maths teacher. She loves her job and does her best to help the kids of Emblem. Her family don't agree with her choice of job, but shes happy. She has a great room mate, her best friend and a job she loves. The only blip in her life is her family. Disconnected from them and betrayed by her sister Autumn does her best to put on a brave face about them but she's dredding being with them at the upcoming wedding of her sister.
Autumn lays eyes on her old pupil Landon on the first day back to school. An embarrassing encounter on Landon's last day of school is the only thing she sees and wants to avoid him as much as she can. A series of events lead to Landon being her new housemate where she finds there is so much more to Landon than the cocky high school jock she remembers.
I was so swoony in this book. Landon is just life! He's just the best. He's so humble it broke my heart he was back in Emblem but he just gets himself a job and gets on with it! No moping about what he lost he just wants to look out for his brother. His attitude is brilliant. He's had no role model to look up to his whole life and it just made me feel so proud of him! And when he meets Autumn again all his boyhood fantasies come true! But he doesn't act on it as he has a lot of respect for her so their relationship slowly builds and builds so that by the time they finally get together they're in love even without the physical and i just loved that. Bloody loved it!
Autumn is perfect for him. I guess he had to grow up pretty quick in his household so her being a little older is perfect. She's fun and quirky and she just made me smile. She's also so kind and sweet and just lovely. I really took to her and i'm pleased as punch she got Landon.
It was incredible to see some old faces back in Emblem. I got goosebumps when they turned up. Hooray for Deck Gentry is what i say!
Loved the story. Theres angst in the story but not between Autumn and Landon. It kept me there in Emblem from start to finish. Now i'm eager for more! My Gentry addiction is crying out for Justin's story but another part also needs Nes! I'm just greedy for more words and more stories from Ms Brent. One of my fave authors EVER!
This was an awesome story. I loved every second of it. I was only sad that it ends. Hopefully we will get a story about Landon's brother Justin as well. It also features Tristan and Saylor and Cord's daughter Cadence who is pregnant during this story. She is also close with her cousin Landon and works at the school with Autumn, who is her best friend.
This is very much an older woman, younger man story where she was once his teacher, and also roomies falling for each other plus they also work together. While it has aspects of a forbidden romance typically would have, its not forbidden in this storyline.
This is also a Gentry story and Landon is a cousin to the original Gentry triplets. We see a lot of them in this story as they along with Landon try and help his brother, Justin as he gets into some trouble. Deck is also in this story and I loved him so much and how he is there to help out his family.
The book opens up 2 years before on the last day of senior, Landon's school as he is graduating and going off to college as a hot shot football player. At this time Autumn is his teacher.
The story then picks up 2 years later. with twenty-year-old Landon no longer in college but back in town as his brother is in trouble and his mother doesn't care and he is trying to save his brother, Justin. He is now hired as the janitor for the high school so he can keep a close eye on Justin.
Autumn is still a teacher an now is 26 and when her and her roommate have an extra room for rent, Landon moves in and thats really when Landon and Autumn start getting to know each other and fall for each other.
This was a wonderful story and easily stands alone. Its about friendship,, family and love and that its never too late to change your life. I adored how the whole Gentry family is there for Cadence and Landon and Justin and how they lend a hand of support.
Normally I am not into older woman/younger man stories but Landon is very mature and has his head on straight so it really worked for me. Autumn was also an awesome character and she has a horrible family. So I loved how she is so welcome in the Gentry family and how Landon is always there for her.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Gentrys are all about family, and Cora Brent brings them to life in such a wonderful way. Landon Gentry thought he could escape the town of Emblem when he went to college on a scholarship to play football. When an unfortunate injury prevents him from continuing his football scholarship, he returns to the town of Emblem to be there for his brother, Justin. Justin is going through a rough patch and despite all of Landon’s efforts, Justin continues to pull away from his brother, and from his cousin, Cadence Gentry Mulligan. When Landon gets a job as a janitor at Emblem High, he is reacquainted with Autumn, who is a teacher there. When he needs a place to stay, Autumn and her roommate, Alex, have a spare room which he decides to rent. The connection between Autumn and Landon is sizzling. Autumn has issues of her own that she is dealing with. She was dumped by her previous boyfriend and is at odds with family over current events. When an unfortunate event happens at the school involving his beloved cousin, Cadence, Landon and Autumn work together to get to the bottom of what happened. Landon and Autumn are perfect for each other. He is exactly what she needs. Their chemistry is off the charts. They will do anything for each other and be the rock that each other needs. Their love is a slow burn and when the fire takes hold, the sparks fly!! I love how the family came together to resolve Justin’s situation. Then Gentry family is a force to be reckoned with!! I am looking forward to more of the Gentry family!!
Landon is another fantastic heart warming story in The Ruins of Emblem series, a spin off series from the phenomenal Gentry saga.
Whenever I start any Gentry related story I immediately feel at ease and comfortable with the characters. They always manage to draw me into their lives in such a way it never feels like I'm reading about a bunch of fictional characters at all.
The thing I've always loved about the Gentry family is the strong bond they have, they will literally do anything to help each other and they stand together as one whatever the situation.
I absolutely loved Landon, he definitely had that touch of Gentry magic that made him so special. I really felt for him over his career and I admired him a lot for returning to his roots in Emblem to look out for his little brother.
Autumn was a fantastic girl she's fun, sweet and kind hearted. I adored her musical tastes too, she did make me giggle. Autumn loves Emblem and her job at the High school, she's a terrific teacher. I really liked the way she stood up to her family over her job and where she lives.
Landon and Autumn's story was an emotional, slow burning beautiful journey with all the feels, it was a pleasure to read and I loved every minute. They are perfect for each other.
I'm really hoping Justin gets his story soon, he's going to break my heart.
I have to say Deck still owns my heart as the No1 Gentry and in this book it just proves why he's my favourite.
All the feels. Let me start by saying I read this within 2 days, and it only took that long because I have a toddler and needy husband Lol! Landon has become my new book boyfriend. He is just perfect, and so is Autumn for him. I love, love, love them. I always love Cora Brent’s books, and this is definitely no exception. Love everything about this book. Do yourself a favor, and go read it!
Landon is another Gentry man who had me falling for him before the first chapter was over. He’s a 20 year old, dealing with the reality of having your first dreams fall through. He has had a tough upbringing with deadbeat parents, but his family (specifically his brother, Justin) is always first for him. They way he loves his friends and family is perfect. Getting to meet Justin and have a mini reunion with my favorite Gentry men was fantastic. I’m hoping Cora does a book for Justin next.
Autumn is older, and a previous teacher of Landon, so you have an age gap and drama within that. However, I didn’t feel like their ages were an issue at all. Landon’s character arc is something to behold. I felt they were on the same level throughout. Autumn has been largely ignored and misunderstood by her family. A huge issue with her sister plays out, but her growth in character and strength is perfect.
Between family drama on both sides, town bullies, and the slow burn of friends to lovers, this book has it all. I highly recommend getting lost in Emblem with Landon and Autumn.
It was wonderful watching Landon and Autumn transition from teacher/student, into roommates, then friends, and finally into lovers. There was a lot of build up between the two of them as they slowly developed into a relationship. They both cared about each other, as well as those around them, so much.
Landon was trying so hard to be a good big brother. Coming back home to a town he escaped from to repair a rocky relationship with his brother and help him find his way. He definitely faced his challenges with this task. Coming back home he also found some great friends and the woman made for him.
Autumn was kind, friendly, caring, and quirky. She has amazing friendships with both cadence and Alex. Her family life held just as much drama as Landon’s just a different type of drama. She put up with a lot of crap from them that she didn’t deserve. Autumn was an awesome teacher who really cared for her students.
As someone who has followed the Gentry family almost from the start I love the ruins of Emblem series. The original Gentry series the guys were escaping from Emblem, while the characters in this series are attempting to make Emblem better. I love seeing all the changes and how many good people live in this prison town that has a bad reputation.
Autumn Katsaro is a teacher a math teacher at Emblem High School. This is a small town by a prison. And she and the other teachers there want to make a difference in kids iives there. To give them a solid foundation In their learning. Anyways, while Autumn was beginning her math class is a smart mouth Landon Gentry who is cocky and a bone-a-fide a whole. But there is some attraction of the younger male student to his teacher, but nothing comes of it. Until 2 years laters, were the student is now the former student and the teacher is the older woman. Duh duh dunnn!!! (I hope i added the special effects at the right moment?) I think i'm becoming one of those blah reviewers. I don't want to keep saying in my reviews that I like a book because of x, y & z. Yes there is some family drama, a bit of some violence. Happy ending, yes. a bit of a slow romance, yes. Would I recommend? Yes, but I would stress this is not a a student/ teacher romance . Well, I guess some people like that forbidden romance. There is an age gap, but not something to say minor and adult. Oh no. Ok, i'm trying to get to my point. It's a nice read, but I don't know if I'll be willing to pick it up again.
Arc for honest review This was a truly awesome story . Landon completely stole my heart. I have yet to read the previous Gentry books , but after reading this amazing book , I most definitely have to go back and read them all .I fell in love with both Landons and Autumns characters . They are truly so unique . It was almost impossible to stop reading once I started . I tend to get extremely invested , in the characters I read about , especially if I feel a connection to them . That’s exactly what happened with Landon . Autumn is a math teacher at emblem high , Landon is the star football player . The book picks up 10 years in the future , when Landon returns to Emblem high needed a job because his football career was cut short .needing a place to live Landon and Autimn become roommates. This is a age gap romance one of my very favorite tropes . Autumn is 8 years older then Landon , but that does not affect the off the charts chemistry between these 2 . I absolutely loved watching their relationship grow from friends to lovers . There are elements of slow burn as well . This was such a wonderful book, the perfect blend, of second chance, Friends to lovers and age gap all blended into one . I cannot recommend this book highly enough ❤️💜
This was a sweet and steamy age gap romance. It’s rare to find an age gap romance where the woman is older. As soon as I saw the synopsis, I had to sign up to read it.
Autumn is a math teacher at Emblem High. Landon is the star football player and overall class trouble maker. Fast forward a couple years, Landon is back at Emblem High working because his football dreams were cut short. Needing a place to live, Landon becomes Autumn’s roommate. Although Autumn is about 8 years older than Landon, their friendship quickly moves into off the charts chemistry territory.
This is as a slowish-medium burn. I’m normally all for the fast burns but I don’t think this would have worked for these two. Their friendship definitely needed to be established first. And once they’re together? Whew. Turn up the AC. I loved how they are both genuinely good people. Definitely some of my favourite characters.
This book is a stand-alone in a big interconnected series. I hadn’t read any of the books prior but didn’t feel lost with any of the characters that we meet. I’m definitely going to go back read those stories.
Beautiful book and story...filled with so much passion, humor and OMG danger! When Autumn was Landon's teacher in high school, there was no doubt already a crush and attraction, but there was never any inappropriate behavior (only maybe thoughts). Fast forward to a few years later, and Autumn's former student (now a hunky almost 21 year old) returns to the hometown and the scene of their last encounter. I love this author's ability to make us really care about her characters and build on their feelings before we see them physically fall for each other. This book combines a sweet and sexy age gap romance, with some serious dysfunctional family drama (OMG I wanted to punch both Autumn and Landon's mothers for different reasons!) and also manages to combine a suspenseful storyline into the mix. As with all of the Gentry books, the family is a strong force to be reckoned with, and the wonderful climax and ending was everything I hoped for. I adored Landon so much!
***** 5 ***** "the gap between them was nothing love couldn't bridge" stars
C I don’t usually gravitate to “age gap” books, but I gave this one a try. And Cora delivered! It was funny, heartwarming, emotional. She delievered us a slow burn romance with a life lesson that life doesn't always pan out the way we expect... you take what you are dealt and make the best of it.
𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙤/𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙚 = Landon and Autumn 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 = No 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚 = Yes 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙚(𝙨) = Age gap (6yr difference), Roommates, forbidden romance, Teacher & former student, HEA 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙇𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 = 🔥🔥🔥🔥 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Landon Gentry is hot, cocky, star football player. When he blows out his knee in college, he moves back to his hometown to help keep an eye on younger brother.
Autumn loves her job as a HS math teacher. She's for the most part, pretty happy. When she sees one of her former students now at the school, she tries to avoid him due to an embarrassing moment they shared. A series of events lead to Landon being her new housemate where she finds there is so much more to Landon than the cocky high school jock she remembers.
Landon and Autumn who are complete opposites, yet they bring out the best in each other. The push and pull dynamic between the two are electric. It was a beautiful journey with all the feels, it was a pleasure to read and I loved every minute.
Landon Gentry is just what I needed. I actually would love a real life version to saunter into my life.
Everyone has done something or many somethings in their past or more specifically their you that comes back to haunt them regularly. And there isn't a thing you can do to change it. But Landon owns his mistakes, and no matter how badly he did mess up, he wants to be better and the things he does, he does with those he loves in mind.
Always walk forward. The path behind you can never change. If they are meant to be in your life, they will end up on the currently empty path ahead and you won't be walking alone anymore.
Autumn is hurt, still hurting. It is always hard to accept being wronged by others. When you are hurt that deep, trust is a hard thing to give. These two are an angst romance that I needed to cool off from my darker reads. I loved their dynamic and hidden layers.
The cover looks like a baseball story. But I've read enough of those. It could be about a young man with a nice body. Who hasn't read a book like that? What sealed the deal was "reverse" age gap. My favorite or close to it. Older woman, younger man. Not a big age gap in this story. She was his teacher in high school. He was the school jock, in football. After he, Landon, had been to college and hoped to make it to the pros, that happens if your body stays healthy. He's back to The same small town he started in. Needing a job, he's the new school custodian. How the mighty have fallen. Someone had helped him along in his younger days. Now its his turn. True love has away to right a sinking ship. Landon and Autumn need a cause to fall into their true love. This book has all several different a d good causes. I would recommend this book. Read it and decide for yourself.
