Waking Up in Vegas

Rate this book
There are bad hangovers, then there’s waking up married to your brother’s idiot friend.

On the trip of a lifetime, a drunken Wren and intoxicated Brody stumble upon a wedding ceremony and decide to tag along for the ride. But being spectators isn’t quite wild enough when you’ve got tequila in your toes, and before either of them can stop what they’re about to do, “We now pronounce you husband and wife.”

Once sober and home, the incompatible newlyweds try everything within their power to end their pantomime marriage. Unfortunately for them, the promise and vows they made to spend their life together now aren’t as easy to break as they’d once hoped.

Especially not when Brody starts to have a change of heart.

Skimmed so much, my finger hurts..

So here we have a group of .. hm, let’s call them wannabe adults, they’ve all been friends since they were in diapers and they have no real issues to speak of. A privileged lifestyle if we take into account how they can afford group vacations to Vegas and blow their money at the casino.

A great family dynamic and support and a personality to match all that luck they were born with (entitled, whiny and immature)

Most importantly, they are really young between 18-22 but they seem to have great paying jobs, their own place and I don’t know but these people seem to be making a mountain out of a molehills about everything.

While reading this that meme of Kourtney Kardashian saying “Kim, there’s people that are dying” kept replaying over and over in my head so yeah, basically that meme was this entire book for me.

What happens in Vegas can’t stay in Vegas. What a blowout. This book is funny, witty and totally adorable.

Wren is Brody’s best friends little sister and off-limits. It doesn’t matter that she’s hot and now 18. He should go there.

A group of friends and family go to Las Vegas for Brody’s birthday. It’s party time but even though Wren can go she isn’t old enough to drink or gamble. One wild night with Brody’s changes everything. They shouldn’t have been drunk and the definitely shouldn’t have got married.

Wren and Brody’s have witty banter. They don’t always get along and love joking around with each other. Getting married changes things but can they pull it together before they realise divorce isn’t their only option.

This book is so funny. I loved every minute. It has passion, love and a perfect family wedding.

5 out of 5.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It's was okay.
Very funny in parts.
Seemed a bit childish when I started I nearly didn't continue.
The gang of male friends seem to be man-whore king types literally different girl every night mentality.
As with best friends little sister troupe they are in each others lives while each have relationships or in the case of the Hero ONS as none of the men have ever had a relationship.
The men are 21 I believe and the girl is 18.
They swear even using the f*** word in front of the parents, who laugh along with them at their sexual exploits.

For the safety gang.
When they arrive in Vegas the Hero and his mates are all thinking who they will be having sex with other women there.
There are no intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine though there are jokes and references to previous ONS.
The Hero flirts and thinks about going off with someone after the marriage, he talks himself in and out of it and on one occasion you felt if he hadn't been interrupted he would have had a ONS.
The Hero and heroine are seeking a divorce and she told him to view himself as single but still....

Secondary characters are introduced with possible future storylines.

HEA.

Sometimes a book comes along and wakes up all your senses and you just don't want it to end.

I loved absolutely everything about WAKING UP IN VEGAS, I mean hands up how many of you have read this sort of trope, I have read quite a few of these accidental drunken marriages while in Vegas and despite that this book was refreshing.

Brody is Wren's brothers best friends, they are a group of friends, who's parents are really close so they are the kind of friends who celebrate and attend everything together. Despite the closeness of them all Brody and Wren have never gotten on, they have digs and cat-fights with each other something that has gone on for years, Brody has always looked at Wren as his friends annoying little sister although he is only 3 years older than her.

One trip to Vegas celebrating Brody's birthday with the whole gang minus the parents changes everything for Brody and Wren. What starts off as their usual bickering and fighting relationship changes in the blink of a drunken night where they sneak off away from the rest of the group and wake up married. What happens in Vegas can sometimes bite you on the arse as Brody and Wren discover.

A fun read with lovable characters, an addictive plot containing highs, lows and hotness all leading to a hea, what more could you ask for? well, more of this for a start!.

I fell in love with the characters, the extended characters, their families, the whole dynamics and package of this book has me excited that this is a series and I can't wait to read more.

I thought this started off reasonably well, but I got bored quickly after they left Las Vegas. Too much time spent at family gatherings, talking with each other about how they can't be together, and talking with other people about how they can't be together. There hadn't even been good angst or connection by this point. Yawn.

To be honest, this is so far from what I normally read. But it sounds really fun. I'm pumped. Let's do this.

6/19/19:
Aah, more Natasha Preston.

I am such a sucker for these books. Although... "contemporary romance?" I prefer the horror/mystery/psychological thriller books with flowers on the covers. But hey, I'll be reading this. Here's hoping.

An absolute blast of a read. Such a fun, hilarious story filled with tension and just enough drama to keep you turning those pages. I am in LOVE with Brody, and I’m staking my claim. I can’t wait for everyone out there to read this story. Preston just gets better and better. Don’t tell her I said that though. She’ll be unbearable.

Oh My Goodness, I absolutely loved this!! I had only read the first line of the synopsis when the cover and book details were revealed and I was instantly excited to read this story just from that snippet. I’ve only placed my kindle down when family commitments demanded that I had to and I can tell you that now I finished the book, I haven’t been left disappointed at all!

Waking Up in Vegas is such a fun story to read, but it does have moments of tension too. I was sitting on the edge of my seat at times wondering which way the story was going to go.

Wren and Brody are amazing! I just know everyone is going to fall in love with Brody. The relationships and dynamics among their families and friends added to the story brilliantly, and I am so pleased that this is book one of a new series by Natasha Preston because I am desperately needing more!

This book has everything you could want in a great read. A fabulous story line with great characters, which hits the right spots emotionally too! I don’t want to say anything more other than grab a copy and read it. I know you won’t be left disappointed either.

i'm obviously in the minority here but this book didn't work for me. it started well, a fun group of friends going to las vegas to celebrate a birthday, good banter between them, etc. but then it got boring.

there were a lot of chapters where really nothing substantial happened, the language become crass and careless, and i had to start skimming to get to the end because nothing interesting happened.

Disappointing.

I read the synopsis of this book and thought it would be a great book. Unfortunately for me, it wasn’t. I’m not one to bash an author when a book hasn’t worked for me, so I won’t go into great detail why. Ultimately it wasn’t written well, it lacked finesse and accountability. It’s one thing to have artistic license but a storyline has to be believable. I could not connect with the characters, and I don’t feel it was because they were only 18 and 21. I felt they were both immature and it wasn’t fun banter between them, it was plain annoying bickering. And I hated the games their played against each other. I was hoping for so much more.

Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow!!!!!
What an emotional roller coaster of a book that was, could barely put it down. I've not read a book that quick in ages.
I loved Brody and Wren, especially Brody...
Gutted it's a standalone, would be straight onto the next book had it been a series. I definitely need more Wren and Brody in my life and that is my only disappointment.

This was good. Predictable. Brody is swoon worthy. Their back and forth wasn't my fav. I thought Wren was oblivious to Brodys feeling toward her.

Omg!! Such a fantastic story! I love Vegas books and this one is brilliant! The chemistry between Wren and Brody is through the roof, but they’re not meant to fall for one another! She’s his best mates little sister and the baby of the group!

Waking Up In Vegas is funny, and hot and there’s many twists I’ve had a book hangover for weeks since reading it! Brody is my new favourite book boyfriend! I can’t wait for more from this series and to find out whose story is next! Five stars!

A fairly easy read. Group of friends celebrate a 21st in Vegas. Wren and Brody seem to be constantly bickering but end up accidentally married. I really enjoyed how the friendship built after the event but felt the conclusion came rather abruptly after a shocking event.

Natasha did it again. One thing I love about Natasha’s writing is her unpredictability. You will never know if you’re getting a happily ever after or not until you flip thru the last page. Waking Up in Vegas is no different.

I like how she narrated the whole plot and how the scenes were built and constructed. It was a little cliché and unusual at the same time. I love how everything progressed and how the characters are portrayed. And even though you would kind of expect what will happen next, it still gives you that element of surprise that will have you on the edge of your seat holding on for dear life. There are times when I feel that a story is lacking if they didn’t get me to tear up just a bit, but with Natasha’s writing, all the suspense and uncertainty of the plot makes up for the more emotional part. Wren and Brody’s story may not be a conventional one, but it is definitely worth every page turned.

I like that Wren isn’t like most women that has logic flying out their windows at the sight o f the person she is attracted to. I admire her level headedness that at least, she gets to restrain herself, at least for a bit. She’s logical and owns up to her mistakes. She thinks about the welfare of people, even if she has a weird way of getting it into plans. And Brody is jus so swoony. I like that he’s honest and straightforward. He may be confusing at times but only because he’s confused as well. But at least he voices out how he feels, at least what he understands of it.

This definitely deserves a 5 stars. Certainly, one of the best reads for 2019.

Natasha Preston has done it again with in my opinion one of her best books yet! In this book she does an AMAZING job of getting you to fall in love with Wren and Brody from the get go that you can’t help but get drawn into the story. I was on the edge of my seat the entire book wondering what was going to happen next. Me telling myself “one more chapter before bed” turned into way more then one chapter until I finished the book! I have never been a fan of romance books just because the ones I’ve tried I thought were just trashy and not well done. But not Natasha’s! Her writing style and this book made me reconsider romance books. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next one!

Absolutely loved this book! I've read previous thriller books from the author so wasn't sure what to expect, but she nailed the contemporary/rom com genre! Wren is hilarious and Brody is moody, but so smoking hot! I devoured this story within a few days. One where you can't wait to get to bed so you can read it. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts and I was rooting for them from day one. Thoroughly recommend x

I just love a story with a lot of fun, laughs, troubles and romance. Waking Up in Vegas has all the before mentioned. The book is well written with characters I fell in love with. This is the start of a series that I can’t wait to read. The book is packed with laughs, emotional times and romance. Not your typical romance, but quite a unique one. One that starts totally backwards. It’s a funny, heartfelt, read that left a smile on face and a warm heart.

The banter between Brody and Wren is hilarious. These two are like oil and water, always one upping the other with a crazy comebacks. But when the group of close nit siblings and cousins decide they are going to Vegas for Brody’s birthday holiday, Wren has to turn on the charm to get Brody to say yes. You see Wren is only 18 and can’t gamble or drink in Vegas. But Brody gives in and this Vegas trip turns into one zany life-changing adventure these two and their families will never forget.

This isn’t your typical opps in Vegas. I love the authors twist to the theme. I highly recommend grabbing up Waking Up in Vegas and this reader is anxious for more from this group of friends. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.

Far Out! What a fab read. This book is full of laughter, wit and tension which will have you turning the pages. I totally love Brody. He's Wren's brother's best friend and at the start Brody and Wren don't really get along with lots of catty banter that will have you smiling.

I really liked Wren's strong, take no shit attitude and all the side characters are likable and well developed too. Waking up in Vegas will pull you back and forward, with the miscommunication, mixed signals and swoon-worthy heat, all to end with a HEA which will leave wishing for more.

I'm really looking forward to the other characters books in this series and hope Natasha gives us a glimpse of Brody and Wren in the future as well.

It's a great, well written book. Give it a go!

DNF at 28%.

Fun read about getting hammered in Vegas and waking up married to your brothers best friend.

Brady is like the kid in the playground flicking Wren’s bunches. He’s always having a go at her. From his side, he feels they always have to make allowances in their group for Wren because she’s the kid of the group.

From waking up married they have to manoeuvre through life back home and see if the decisions they are making are actually what they want.

It did feel all a bit light, in terms of showing their relationship growing to the point where feelings were involved, but I kind of rolled with it. Aside from that, it’s an easy read and lines it up nicely for the follow up story for her friend Indie.

I really enjoyed this book. Wren is sassy and doesn’t take garbage from anyone. Brody - I started out thinking he was just a jerk. But he grew on me.

I loved how close knit the families were A individually and as a group. Can’t wait for book 2!!

El libro que necesitaba para distraerme del trabajo.
Lectura ligera, historia simple (y conocida) pero que aún así entretiene muchísimo.
Conecté con ambos protagonistas y siento que sus acciones se justifican, se entiende y se comprende.

I'd like to thank Natasha and her PR for sending me this e-arc it is very much appreciated. This is a review that should have been up ages ago which surprise surprise is late. So I love love her books Reliving Fate is still one of my favourites and I don't think it will ever be replaced. So I am always excited when Natasha releases new books. I have high expectations because I know the kind of pain she can put you through. I really enjoyed this book though and I loved it. I love a good brother's best friend romance, espeically when their is a drunken marriage involved. It's like some of my favourite tropes all in one.

Wren was a very interesting character she had all of her family wrapped around her fingers and I loved it. She was the baby of the group and it showed because as always the older ones got annoyed with her, especially Brody her brother's best friend. I loved the relationship they all had with each other and the bond they had between each other.

Brody he was your typical brother's best friend and boy did he find Wren annoying and he let his annoyance show a lot, but he also had a soft spot for Wren which included letting her come to Vegas with them for his birthday trip.

I really liked their relationship. How it went from annoying to Brody slowly catching feelings, him and Wren spending time together just so Wren won't sleep with a randomer. I love how he tries to protect her from stuff like having a one night stand which in turn makes them spend more time together. So one of the things that made me laugh in this is when Brody tells Wren that he wanked off to her, and her reaction is so funny. I think one thing was for sure these two were a mess when they were trying to navigate their marriage.

From trying to break it off to people finding out and then to both of them having really conflicting feelings and the way they both can't figure it out honestly breaks my heart. The sexual tension between them both was off the charts and I was loving for it. Their whole relationship getting married and then telling everyone was drama filled and honestly the way they both navigated it in the end was kind of so adult. Except for the part where Brody decided to change his mind and not want a divorce. I was suprised by everyone's reaciton, well everyone except Luke we all know he would flip about Brody marrying his baby sister.

I loved this couple. I was so happy when they stayed married and just was happy. Natasha really does make me fall in love with her characters so much. I really enjoyed the story and the Vegas and the plot.
