Don't they know that those of us who more closely resemble giraffes than dainty little wood sprites should have first pick of any guy who isn't eye level with our cleavage?
But what happens when the embodiment of all my tall-girl fantasies gets hired to work at Booms and Nibbles?
My short best friend snags a date with him first.
What do I get to do? Butt heads with him all day every day as I try to educate him on selling women's underwear, that's what. He's opinionated, blunt, and... Sigh. It's no use. He's amazing. Especially when his beautiful brown eyes glint at me from behind those nerdy glasses—sending messages that both confuse and captivate me.
Well, Adam had better fortify those walls he keeps putting up because I've always been the type to go after what I want. And my sights are set on his heart.
Get ready to laugh and flutter and possibly even squeal a little. This is Angela's story and things are about to get fun. Don't hesitate. Grab your copy now.
There are a lot of things that I adore about this series but one of the biggest is the message that all women are beautiful and important, no matter their shapes or sizes. Angela is tall--very tall--and because of that, she endures many comments and jokes, which leads her to feel insecure about her height, going as far to call herself a giraffe. It seems that we always want the opposite of what we have, but landing a job at Booms and Nibbles was perfect for her and she excels at what she does.
Angela is the type of character that I want to be best friends with. Not only is she sweet and fun, but she is passionate about her interests and loyal to her friends. Working closely with the new guy causes the butterflies to swarm. Adam is a great character too--hilarious, sometimes clueless, easily embarrassed, yet kind. I loved catching glimpses of past characters and I'm settling right into this company, so please don't take it away any time soon!
Pennington has found a solid niche with this romantic comedy series. I was on the treadmill reading and I was snorting and laughing so hard at a few different parts--I almost lost my footing! The unexpected moments of humor, stolen glances, burgeoning friendship, and swoon were captured perfectly and the nod to Korean dramas set my heart afire. Lucky for me, I know for sure at least one more book will be coming and I cannot wait!
Content: mild+ romance (kissing, some light innuendo, talk of underwear since that's the type of company B&N is)

This wasn't bad and my reasons for not liking it are definitely purely personal preference. The writing was great and there were moments I could barely hold back a smile I was enjoying the story so much.
I just didn't really connect with Angela. Like at all. The first 20-30% or so were really weird for me because frankly Angela was a bit obsessed with Adam and he was giving nothing back and in fact had a date with Rian. We know Rian ends up with Troy from her novella installment but in line with the story it was odd to me to be be reading a character kind of actively root against her "best friend" over a guy. I say "best friend" because I saw no evidence of this friendship aside from Angela not so subtly trying to sus out if she can go after Adam. This book would barely pass the bechdel test.
Then I started really enjoying it past the 30% mark because the plot finally got some bones that was separate to Angela's obsession with Adam. We delved into her at her job, her identity, her insecurities and it was really interesting. We still got a lot of Adam but with more depth, we saw their interactions with each other got some character development, more nuance and it was fantastic. And I was over the moon because the book was winning me over. Angela still really liked Adam but it felt more earned and I started rooting for her and them.
Then it completely lost me at the last 20%. Completely. Full spoilers, the dilemma at work was that the marketing for Booms and Nibbles was complicated because they had too much on their product line. Angela doesn't want to decrease the number of products because it went against their mission. Her and Adam butt heads about it. The very convenient conflict at the very end of the book once these two kids get together is Angela's boss says they're cutting the product line and she agrees with Adam's assessment and Angela goes on a spiral. Part of it felt earned because we had seen her struggle with insecurity and wondering if she was failing in her role. But her attack on Adam (this man she has fully gone after for the WHOLE book and he has explained to her he didn't hold any fault with the situation) felt ridiculous. It felt so contrived and frankly suuuuper annoying. Then everything gets resolved - but not really because it didn't feel satisfying.
This is still 3 stars because the middle was very strong for me and I enjoy Michelle Pennington's writing and I'll read anything she writes, even when I don't 100% fall in love with it.
All in all pretty average for me but I'm sure many will enjoy this installment.

This series is so much fun! I can't put these books down when I pick them up. What is it about a bunch of woman working at a bra company! This and the other story lines and just fun! I so enjoyed reading this one, picturing Henry Golding falling in love with Angela. It is just fun to know all these ladies and seeing them fall in love in such fun ways! I can't wait to read Genevie's story! Hopefully its the construction foreman:} This has great romantic tension with a couple awesome kisses. Michelle writes a good kiss!
If you've read any of the previous books in this series A Man Worth Shaving For, Oh, Keep Your Shirt On, or First Kiss Train Wreck, then you've seen glimpses of Angela. She's the buyer for Booms and Nibbles and has a passion for her work. It's important to her that women of all sizes and shapes are able to find intimate apparel, lingerie and swimsuits that fit properly and make them feel beautiful. So when Booms and Nibbles hires a new marketing director, Adam Jeong, to increase their sales, Angela doesn't take too kindly to his suggestion to limit their inventory.
Angela notices Adam right away, and it wasn't just because of his looks--he's taller than she is and that's a rare thing, considering she's 6 ft. tall without shoes. Because of her height, Angela had to endure all the usual "tall jokes" growing up, and it's made her a bit insecure about her height. I found that interesting because I'm only 5 ft. tall and have always been jealous of tall women.
There were lots of funny moments in the story. How could there not be when there's only one male working at B&N and he doesn't know anything about women's lingerie? I loved when Angela gave him the 3 hour presentation and laughed out loud when he ended up with several bras draped on him when she started tossing some of her samples while angry. These two had some things to work through, especially if they were going to continue dating while working together.
I liked that we also got an update on Tessa's wedding and I loved the bridal shower scenes. So fun! I really like this series. The first two books are my favorites.
I received a complimentary copy to review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in my review are my own.
I was so excited to dive into this book! I've loved all the books in this series with the first still standing as my favorite because that one really made me laugh. This one was fun too with lots of excellent smiling, swooning moments. The characters in this series all work for the same company that sells women's underwear, specializing in sizes that are harder to find. They themselves have varying body types that bring their own set of insecurities and confidences. I love that these books really bring to light that all body types are beautiful. The women in this series all support each other well in that regard. It's refreshing.
Angela is tall. And funny. I loved her take charge attitude and how passionately she loved her job. She's an all in kind of girl and it was so easy to like her. Adam shows up in a previous book so his character wasn't altogether unfamiliar but we get to see him from a whole new perspective in this book- Angela's perspective. And she pretty much drools over him. haha. It was fun to watch their relationship progress. Oh! And I also loved the nod to K Dramas. I love watching those too!!
This book sets up the next book perfectly and I can't wait to read it!
This is the fourth Shaped By Love book and like all the others, I read it in one sitting. What else do you do when you have a book that makes you laugh, swoon, and give you all the HEA feels? Can't wait for the next one! (Please say there's a next one)
This series makes me laugh but also takes on some serious topics. For some reason the series title Shaped by Love really struck me during this book. We are all different shapes and sizes and need confidence in the fact that there is no one standard of beauty - or shouldn't be. Angela is one sassy gal who I really grew to like during her story. I grew to really like Adam. Getting to know more about B & N - quite a funny story - was really interesting. There a few bumps and curves but in the end we get our hea. Cannot wait for book 5!!!!!
It’s heartbreaking that I didn’t love this book! I absolutely loved the other books in this series. This one was so flat. I loved Angela’s character but there really didn’t seem like there was chemistry with Adam. I guess I enjoyed the last 25% of the book when they actually start getting together. Most of the rest was kind of painful. Funny moments as always, but nothing swoony to me.
I love this series of books. The female characters are so relatable. We all have insecurities about how we look even though to others we appear confident. I love that though the attraction between Angela and Adam is sizzling it is not all physical. They appreciate each other’s strengths and see the other’s weaknesses. I wish Michelle Pennington could write faster because I can’t get enough of these books.
I love this series! Lots of diversity-women of all shapes and sizes and men from different backgrounds too. So much fun to read! I always love this author’s writing style and the first person telling always makes me feel like a part of the story. Great, steamy kisses in this one while keeping it clean. Great series and a super read! Highly recommend it.
I love this series by Michelle Pennington! The internal dialogue of insecurities by the characters are so realistic. This is a clean romcom filled with sweet, awkward, and laugh out loud moments! A must read!
I received an ARC from the author and all opinions are my own.
This was a fun book. I love this series! Aside from the fact that each book has made me laugh out loud, I sincerely appreciate that they are all clean romantic comedy. That is so hard to find!
I really liked the fourth book in the Shaped by Love series! It has plenty of will-they-or-won’t-they get together moments, which are my favorite. I love not knowing if or how a couple will get together. Ok, so in this genre, I know they’ll end up together, but it’s nice to be able to wonder about it just the same, if you know what I mean. And I loved what happens when Adam picks his mom up from the airport!
This is Angela’s story. I like how it overlaps with the last book a bit, but we see it from her point of view instead of Rian’s. Angela is attracted to the new marketing manager, Adam, from the beginning, but Rian asked him out first. But when things work out for Rian in another way, Adam is fair game, only he doesn’t seem interested at all. But then his matchmaking mother comes to town...
With so many series, you get some books better than others. Not this one. They’re all amazing, hilarious, and sparking with chemistry! I love Adam and Angela, how they fight the feelings so hard. I love the way every heroine in this series battles a different self-image issue in a very affirming, body positive way, and her hero always brings out her strengths. I’m all in on this series. Please, please keep ‘em coming!
MY RATING SYSTEM 5 stars--WOW 4 stars--would read again 3 stars--was good, won't read again 2 stars--read it, but didn't enjoy it 1 star--didn't finish, it was so awful
Do I need to read books before this one: no Cliffhanger: no
SUMMARY Tessa has hired a new marketing director for the lingerie company. A man. Who's taller than Angela's 6'. Tessa tells Angela that she's counting on her and Adam to get sales up. Rian tells Angela she's going to dinner with Adam Friday; he spilled soda on her, so he's making it up to her.
Adam tells Angela they've got to cut down the product line because it's messy and not cohesive. Angela explains the difficulty for a lot of women to find clothes that fit, much less look good. They agree to give each other a presentation.
The next day, they're 3 hours and 3 clothing racks into Angela's presentation, looking at 2 bras: 58N and 28AAA. 250 sizes, and most retailers only carry the middle ones. He asks why they don't specialize in either petite or large, why both. The founder is committed to women of all body types. “I’m sorry this is stressful. Working with me will be a tall order for sure, but I think you’re up for it.” “Did you just…make a tall joke?” [You've gotta read this part!]
Adam does his presentation to all management, shows a large model wearing lingerie with the caption, "Your body might not be perfect, but your underwear can be." Only Angela stays to educate him. "For the record, I was going to say that I think a woman can be beautiful with any body type if she’s confident.” “And how do women become confident in a world that is constantly comparing them? Telling them they aren’t perfect? Where every company telling them they’re beautiful is actually just trying to sell something to them?” She explains how Booms and Nibbles is different. They have an easy rapport.
When Rian calls to report on her dinner with Adam, she tells Angela Adam doesn't want to date coworkers because this job is too important to him to risk.
EVALUATION Such a fun and funny story! I kept sharing parts with my husband (especially Adam's mom) and we laughed together. There's no drama in this, no artificial action. It's just 2 coworkers falling in love, learning to communicate.
Like real life, the story is told all from Angela's point of view, so we don't know how to interpret anything Adam says or does, either. I'm surprised we don't get more of Rian's and Tony's story, considering Rian and Angela are best friends. While I would've liked more finality to Angela's and Adam's story, we see that a previous book's couple gets engaged; again, real life instead of wrapping it up in an epilog.
I particularly cheered Angela's passion about all women being beautiful, they just need the same access to stylish clothes as women in the middle sizes.
RECOMMENDATION Everyone! It's not just for tall people!
FAVORITE QUOTES “Don’t you think that it’s just common courtesy for a guy to warn you if he’s working out and toning up? I mean, it’s only fair, right? How was I supposed to guess what was going on under all those loose fitted shirts he always wears?”
No matter the size, women want to feel beautiful and supported.
Friday began the way all Fridays should start. With donuts.
Even putting away leftovers and loading the dishwasher was fun with him. Ugh. I was such a goner.
Running away is easier to do when you don’t have to stop and change your shoes.
[cleaning because Adam's at the door] I totally could have earned the nickname The Blur. Giraffes can run surprisingly fast when it’s an emergency.
That first contact was more than just a kiss. It was every bit as fierce and electric as a lightning storm, but slow and lingering like a soaking rain. Now he was like a hungry, unchecked wildfire turning me to ash and embers in seconds. “This is terrible,” he murmured. I jerked back. “What?” He flashed me a smile. “There’s no going back now.” His words filled my heart with sunshine.
Friday nights were brutal knowing all your friends were with the men they loved while you just had a remote and a box of cereal.
POSSIBLE TRIGGERS (SPOILERS) Sex: kisses only Language: 0 F words, 0 Lord's name in vain, 0 S words Violence: none
Another great book from an amazing author. While this is not my favorite in the series I still enjoy it. Here’s a few reasons why:
(1) I was so happy the author finally explained the origin of the company name “Booms and Nibbles”. It was so cute and well worth the wait. (2) I loved how Angela and Adam traded harmless insults about being too tall. Their banters were quite funny 🤣 (3) Adam’s mother playing matchmaker was just hilarious. She was as subtle as an elephant which was adorable. (4) I liked seeing the characters from previous books (Tessa, Krista & Rian).
Those points aside I just felt like this story was missing something. I mostly felt like Angela’s feelings were one sided so when she and Adam finally got together I wasn’t convinced of their mutual feelings. I wanted the author to “show” me their connection not just “tell” me. While they did have some cute and romantic moments it wasn’t enough for me to be invested in their relationship. It was just like a Happy For Now ending, not very satisfactory. But hay…that’s just my personal opinion 🤷🏽♀️
Favorite Quotes
With a frustrated gesture, he took his glasses off and set them near his plate. “Why’d you take them off?” “I’m nearsighted, and I wouldn’t mind having your face be a little blurry right now.”
He had run down the steps after me, but paused on the bottom step, looking down at me as if I was a skittish cat. Wait—I could never be described as a cat. A skittish giraffe, then.
I descended on Booms and Nibbles like a goddess. The executive hallway became my catwalk. But did I go straight to Adam’s office to see him like I’d been longing to do for two days? No. Because I was an ice queen who couldn’t care less if he saw my grand entrance. Did I find an excuse to go to his office as soon as possible, however? You bet I did.

I love the Shaped by Love series. Give Me One Good Reason is a book I meant to read in 2021 but didn't get a chance to. I am glad that I was able to make it one of my first reads of 2022.
While this book could be read as a stand-alone, it is best read after the first three books. It has everything in it that you expect from a RomCom: engaging characters, witty dialogue, laugh out loud moments, and a swoony romance story. What makes this series even better is the message of a healthy body image and loving the body you have, no matter the shape or size. All the books in this series have been hard to put down and this one was no exception. There is a promise of one more story and I can't wait for it to come out (sadly I can't find a date).
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Romantic Comedies!!
I love this series! Every book has had moments when I have laughed out loud and my family has given me weird looks. This book was no exception. It's also fun that the stories overlap. It always takes me a little while to get my bearings, but I know this will be really fun to read all together when the series is done. Angela is such a determined woman who is used to getting what she wants, yet she has some insecurities as well. I love how this series deals with the different insecurities women have and helps remind us we're all beautiful. It's always fun having a guy join the force at B&N and Adam does not disappoint. I loved the back and forth banter between Angela and Adam. They make a good team. I'm excited for Genevieve's story next.
Angela is a mix of confident & insecure. She's also overly blunt & good at sticking her foot in her mouth. But she throws herself into the things she does with passion & enthusiasm. Which is what makes her so good at her job - and so very entertaining
It's fun watching the way things develop with Adam. And the amusing things that happen manage to seem true to life at the same time. Adam's mom is a bit of a stereotype - but she's still hilarious. This is a very enjoyable read!
*Romance level: passionate kisses; they do work for a lingerie business, but there's nothing graphic even though they talk & occasionally joke about intimate wear
Another lovely installment in the series. It would have been a 4-star read for me, but one of the crucial moments in the plot too much resembled a situation from Book 1, plus I could not really understand Angela's reaction to it. It did not seem logical at all. Still, it is a positive, uplifting read with a warm, reassuring message. I also enjoyed numerous appearances of the characters from the previous parts of the series. I am looking forward to reading pt 5.
At first, it seemed like I would like it less than tome 2. Angela seems to be the type of girl who is afraid of nothing and goes through life like a bulldozer. However, it appears soon enough that she has (big surprise, but not actually, since it's the theme of the series) body issues of her own. Adam was perfect and perfect for her in so many ways. As for the other book, my only issue is that I feel the author wanted more drama an added a little too much to the story. It's still was delighful to read
I really wanted to love this story. But there is practically zero chemistry between Adam and Angela for more than the first half of the book. He hid his attraction to her very, very well. The rest of the book just wasn't enough to make up for a dull first half with too much negative self-talk from Angela.
This book is mostly about the job they do and not about the relationship. There is zero chemistry between the two main characters. This is the worst book of series. Super boring.
As my favourite Goodreads review by Books With Emily Fox says, "If I read one more book with a mini petite and so tiny tiny woman falling for such a big big man that makes her feel even more petite... I will need an industrial amount of bleach for my eyes."
This book didn't elicit this response from me and as a tall woman, I really appreciated that. I was so excited when I read this blurb because I don't think I've ever read a romance where the female protagonist is tall.
I loved Adam's character. He communicated well and in a mature way. I loved most of Angela's character, but the fact that she was trying to "force" (that's too strong a word) a relationship when Adam said he didn't want to date a co-worker rubbed me the wrong way. It doesn't matter that the attraction was mutual. If he doesn't want a relationship, she should've respected his position.
Something else that I really appreciated was the fact that there was only a subtle version of the third-act breakup. They took so long to get together that there was really no time to put in a proper conflict at the end (which some people might not like, but I loved it).
What this book lacked was character and relationship development. We know about Adam's family (his mother is my favourite secondary character) and his background, but we know next to nothing about Angela. If you asked me where she was born, whether or not she has siblings, or even how she began working at Booms and Nibbles, I wouldn't be able to tell you. That was strange considering the fact that this story was told from her point of view.
Overall, it was a good book, though. 3.5 stars rounded up because it just wasn't very impactful, but it was enjoyable enough.
This book picks up about the same time as Rian and Troy’s story, several conversations and pieces of information appear in this book that do in that novella (you could read either first but what fun would it be getting a sideline to that story, just go read that one real quick first!). Adam is the new Marketing Manager at Booms and Nibbles and Angela has the hots for him. Angela is a really dimensional character. She’s over 6’ tall and from the get go gets a lot of the dumb tall jokes thrown her way. Adam is the first man she’s been acquainted with that’s taller than her (but this also leads to several funny moments including a dinner in a small booth that their legs hit each other because there isn’t enough room for two sets of long legs). This book also talked about how every woman has insecurities, I haven’t really thought about how tall women may see themselves as “giraffes” like Angela does but my heart really went out to her and I became very invested in her. This book was extremely unputdownable. I had to quietly growl at the author because I couldn’t get much done while I was reading this book! Great clean and sweet romance. Great characters. I love the Booms and Nibbles company and what they stand for—there’s lots of that goodness in here and plenty of slow simmering of a budding romance!
I love that this book’s main character was about a really tall woman and the issues/insecurities that come with that. I am curvy and on the short side but I grew up with my asian step sister who is a very slim “goddess model” (like Tessa says in the book) and 6’1” tall. Of course my sis did model and play basketball unlike Angela. But this book had me laughing so much because I could totally see my sister saying some of these things. I loved the shared looks that she and Adam had over “tall people problems”. They made a great couple and business team working together. I love at the end the plotting to get them together. So many funny sample closet scenes. Lots of laughter. Thanks for such an entertaining read. I loved how the insecurities Angela had didn’t hold her back from owning who she was and her differences became her strengths. Rating: PG, clean but with lots of undergarment humor since this is a bra and lingerie company they work at.
