Princesses are meant to kiss frogs to find their prince - not criminals

William Quinn was labeled a killer years ago. The accusations were false... until now. Forced to choose between an innocent and a monster, he made a quick decision. Now he’s running from the law, leaving behind the woman he’d kill for.

Olivia Conner is a princess in every meaning of the word. Protected by militant security, world champion fighters, law enforcement, and a murderous mother willing to do anything to keep her children safe, Livi's pedestal is far too high for Will to reach... or so she’d like everyone to think.

Will has been gone a long time, but some temptations prove too much. And even knowing it won’t end well won’t stop him, because cockiness is his crown, and he wears it like a king.

ELEUSIS is a story full of secrets, murder, innocence, and craving the one thing you can’t have. Dive into this action-packed star-crossed romance today, and fall head over heels in love with someone you really shouldn’t.

Well, I didn't anticipate this outcome... I never thought I'd give an Emilia book such a low rating, but here we are.

I kinda liked the second chance romance/pen pals thing, but the romance wasn't enough and just like in Jamie and Cam's book, the under plot took up a lot of space to the point that we hardly saw them happy and as a couple which was basically the point in all this??

My first thought when I found out Liv would be Will's li was "oh that's so funny. He's already a wanted criminal and now his li has a cop as a stepfather, a murderer as a mom and a heavyweight fighter as a brother. That man is dead DEAD." ⬅️ And that was the problem. I know these characters are overprotective, but Ben and Oz ruined the book for me with their attitude, they went so far out of line that I couldn't even enjoy my crumbs which are usually one of my favorite parts of this spin-off.

The other low point for me was Will. If I had to compare him with other characters, I would say that he's the Aiden or Spencer in this series; mysterious and closed, always giving nothing unless it's for his significant other BUT he wasn't charming enough for me. He just came across as crude and it wasn't until the letters were revealed that a little more of his personality was seen, you know, aside from him saying pussy and cum and inviting Olivia to his bed whenever she wanted.

And then there's the whole thing about Olivia being the biggest hypocrite. I know she even recognized it, but it still bothered me until the end of the book.

Now things that I DID like:
– Juliette being the badass lawyer that I know she is.
– Lindi being literally the best mom, and her breadcrumbs with Oz when he wasn't being stupid.
– The Rosa brothers. That scene in the hospital was hilarious and I love Abby SO MUCH.
– Sammy and Scotch and Meg and Marcus having KIDS. I screamed with that one.
– Lucy and Mac being married.
– Evie being her always annoying self, but now in mom version.
– the smallest mention in the world to my King Bobby, but I'll take it anyway.
– the letters.

Olivia and Williams'story was narrated very well. Olivia, her family and Will and his secrets merge very well as the story comes together. Liked it.

That ending though

This whole book I was screaming at Will! THE WHOLE BOOK! You knew there was a giant mystery. You knew something shady was going on, but you KNEW Liv deserved better. It was so much fun to read! There were was so much more mystery in this book than previous stack decked, much like reading the Checkmate series.
It all came out at the end and you will not love anything more. I don't claim to have a favorite, but seriously probably in the top 3 best reads.

You never actually read an Emilia Finn book. You are captured and drawn in to be a living part of everything unfolding, each scene more enthralling than the last. And, Crazy Eights definitely kept me in the Rollertown world!! These people become like your family and chose friends because Emia keeps you so drawn in, catching your emotions to feel every word she writes. If you have not read an Emilia Finn book, grab the first to start it all or any of her books! Just grab one!!! Make sure carve out time though, because you will not want to stop until you have finished, then you'll eagerly search to get your eyes on the next book and each after.

**2.5**

Another bummer one and it makes me sad. I was very excited for Livi and I was very curious on how Will would dig out of his hole. This was Pawns 2.0. But not enough of them not yelling and fighting. There was never any happy. I need the happy. And if you are giving me a Pawns 2.0 at least give me some Kane. Also super bummed that I didn't like Livi - at all. Beauty was not a nice person and a huge hypocrite. Pass. But I liked Will. He redeemed himself to me from books 7 and 8.

Well I didn’t enjoy this one tbh but seems the trait with the stack deck books. I hope that the Rosa brothers series isn’t the Kincaid show, Evie to be specific. She’s just everywhere and annoying tbh. Olivia should have been best mates with Brooke because to be honest they sound so alike.
I found this one a bit cringey if I’m honest, the whole beauty name! One min she calls oz daddy and then oz, you can’t swap and change....
Ben and oz were too much it was just unrealistic how much they were about protecting her.
It’s a massive town but everyone’s their aunts and uncles it’s just getting a bit over the top and their houses must be massive to have these people in them all at once. I liked wills character as he was rough etc and I liked the fact he wanted to change his life around and get a career but the letters just sounded so out of character the way he wrote to her sounded nothing like the bloke we got to know throughout the book.
And again as is seems to happen throughout this series the book only gets good as it ends. We didn’t even get anytime with them being a couple.
Maybe I want too much but previous series have been so much better than these books and I feel let down by each one I read when I’m so hopeful about them.

Ugh I wanted to like this book. This is my first book ever by Finn I didn’t like. I just hated Olivia. Especially at the end. I thought it was Unnecessary and hated how hypocritical she was. It just made her seem really dumb.. She was just a b**** and idk not the same person you would of thought you met from the other books. Outside of this book so far every other book by finn is amazing. But this one was a bust for me.

Wow! Idk what to even say! I was blindsided by a couple details, but pleasantly.

At first I wasn't liking it when they hooked up, I'm not for reading books with cheating. BUT I pushed on BC Emilia is my favorite author of all time. So glad I kept going, and it all came together.

However, I really wanted/ needed more in the epilogue 😂

Okay, spoilers abound here, because this book really annoyed me.

First, I really, really liked Olivia in Lindsi and Oz's book (Rewriting You) and I'm so annoyed by her all-grown-up, it's like she's not as awesome as she was.

That aside, it's like half the story happened outside of the story and there's great reveals at the end - he's a cop! (which is annoying (1) because it's like a repeat of Kane and Jess's book Pawns in the Bishop's Game and (2) because, same as with the previously mentioned book, unnecessary drama could have been avoided if he just had came clean on that to her, at least in part), she's not really dating the guy she keeps calling her boyfriend (somehow this is less objectionable to me than his deception, because (1) she needs it all on the downlow to get info against him to protect her family, which yes, that whole scenario is a big suspension of disbelief, but whatever and she doesn't trust him since he ghosted her for a year (2) she's kinda trying to break William's heart like he broke hers when he ghosted), they've been penpals for years and in love all this time (kinda cute, but still, more weight on the whole he-shouldn't-have-ghosted thing and he-should-have-told-her-about-becoming-a-cop thing). I honestly spent most of the book hating her for cheating and kept waiting for the big reveal that he wasn't a bad guy that was unnecessarily drawn out (super annoying).

All in all, this book was really frustrating to read and I would NOT recommend it.

If you’re new to Emilia Finn STOP do not pass GO do not collect $200 go back to her OGs. The Rollin’ on crew, Bobby and Kit Kincaid, they are Emilia’s original love story or maybe it was really Bryan and Nelly (novellas) all along. Could you start at the beginning of any series? Yes, we did, but we wouldn’t recommend it. You need to know the history and how she ties it all together to create this incredible family. She’s so good at the details and connections. That’s what hooked us.
We’re reading these books because we’re invested in this family, the town full of hot men who are all good in bed and who’s turn it is to hide Miss Dixie’s boyfriend.

“I still came to you because I love you. I came to you because I couldn’t stop thinking about you. When we’re together, I don’t have to think about what’s happening out there.”

So if you’re all caught up, at least on the Stacked Series, let’s talk about Eleusis. This book picks up a year after Will leaves to run from the cops. It’s more of part 3 for Jamie and Quinn’s story since so much of their story included her brother Will. As soon as Will left town he got a call from an unlikely ally, honestly, I didn’t see it coming and was happily surprised. Secrets are what make this book exciting and heartbreaking at the same time. We want to see them happy but as you know Emilia doesn’t make it easy, she makes the journey worth the ending.
I LOVED this book, it is exactly what the series needs, it’s a nod back to Checkmate (our book boyfriends). It’s all about Will getting what he deserves. He’s had a hard life, he was abused, neglected and a child raising a child. All we want is for him to get the love and dishwasher he deserves.

Let me start by saying I have loved reading the Stacked Deck series, I love reading this generation of Rollers. Now let’s talk about Will and Livi!!! These two are hot, and stubborn and secretive but most of all so in love it is so fun to read their story. I enjoyed how this book has so many sneaky twists that most of Emilia’s books in these series don’t have. There are a few plot twists that will have you saying “I’ll be damned” and loving every min of it. The best part is that both Will and Livi are doing what they think is best for someone they love and the other doesn’t know what it is. I will say that I was a bit surprised by how crass Will was towards Livi as you don’t see that side of him in the other books bc he’s in protective mode with Quinn. However when you get to his secret that he’s had during his years on the run you see a side of him that shines through that’s more like the Will we all know and love. Livi has been living this life of perfect princess all her life and William Quinn doesn’t quite fit into that perfect box or so she thinks. This book was great to unravel and watch how Will made it so it was perfect for her to continue as long as she knows what kind of appliances she wants. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks again Emilia, can’t wait for Dynamite.

I Did Not See That Coming

William and Olivia's story was both exciting and frustrating. Olivia, ever the good girl, is dating the town prosecutor. No one likes him, but she insists on keeping him around. Meanwhile, William only has eyes for her. And he's always been the bad guy, so he has no problem pushing boundaries and taking what he believes is his.

Before now, William was always a grump and a bit of a jerk. Seeing the world from his perspective makes him so much more loveable. Plus, it didn't hurt that he was honestly a good guy in Crazy Eights. I felt for him every time he put himself out there and was shut down. One thing about William though, he's not a quitter.

Olivia is painted as and fancies herself, a good girl. Doesn't break rules, prim and proper, kind and sweet Olivia. Except when she's not. I could really feel for her with the situation she finds herself in. Stuck between what's right and wrong and what her family will think leaves her in an ugly internal battle - that eventually spills over onto William.

The way the story progressed and ultimately played out was a little predictable, and yet not at all. I thought for sure I knew what was coming, only to find out I only had part of the story and reality was so much better.

Will was HOT. I didn’t think he’d be like this. I think I was so used to seeing him as the protective brother that I didn’t expect him to be so crass which I LOVED. The only thing that really bugged me about this story was the cheating, even though Brenten was a tool, morally I just couldn’t accept it. I didn’t fully feel the connection between Will and Olivia. It was obvious he had a thing for her but I don’t know, I couldn’t feel the connection she had for him if that makes sense. What I do love about this story is the idea of them being pen pals for YEARS but I don’t know this book was missing something. I felt like it was so focused on why he didn’t have a job/why he was gone for a year that we weren’t able to fully grasp the idea of them being together and their happily ever after.

I also thought Olivia was a bit annoying especially towards the end when she pretty much blew their cover. And I felt like she was such a hypocrite especially when she was all like, "I had to do what I had to do to protect my family" and he's like ... same but she threw a fit.

“I wanted to be worthy of you,” he chokes out.”

A fantastic series

I'm not sure what's up with all of the secrets, lies, and betrayals in these stories, but it seems to be an epidemic. Lol! I always thought that Olivia, aka Livi, was a nice and sweet girl, but how she's turned out is the sole responsibility of Oz and Ben. Usually people are immature and selfish when they're young, but tend to grow up, as well as out of the childish behavior. Olivia seemed to be more mature when she was younger than she was as a young woman in this book! Will had a horrific life from a very young age, but he did whatever it took to take care of his sister and himself, even if it was illegal. After everything went down with his sister and the man who attempted to frame him for murder, after receiving a mysterious phone call, he disappeared for a year. Now he's back, but most people still think he's a criminal, even Olivia. More secrets, lies, and betrayals.....and pride.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

The good girl and the bad boy

I read this via my ku subscription and am leaving my review voluntarily.  This is book 9 in the Stacked Deck series, which is a spin off of the Rollin On series. While you don't have to start with the original series, it's best to read book 7 first.

Triggers:

**spoilers**
This is Will and Olivia's story.  It has all the expected angst, sexy time, push/pull that you can expect from this author.

I loved Will's character from book 8. He is the overprotective big brother, growing up way to soon with neglectful and abusive parents trying to do the right thing by his sister.

Olivia, grew up with a loving mom and abusive father. After her father's demise, her mom eventually remarries a wonderful guy Oz, who becomes a role model for her.

Will is the bad boy with a good heart. Olivia is the good girl with a secret wild side.

Some intrigue and mystery before these two get their HEA.

Move aside Ben

Will Quinn showed his inner good guy as a child when he saved his baby sister and then protected, loved and raised her despite still being a child himself. His love is epic and to see the relationship he put so much effort into for his take-home girl - swoon!

As much as I love Olivia/Livi, I wanted to wring her neck and kick her add for the last 15% of the book! But in the end it was worth it.

I loved seeing so many of the characters haven’t seen in so long. Can’t wait for the Rosa brothers books in the future because those fellas are looking like they are gonna be pretty special too.

The awesome world Emilia writes just keeps getting better and more nuanced. Such an incredible world she’s given us full of amazing pantry melting men and kickass women.

Part of me is always nervous with new releases and stories and characters because I tend to have such high hopes and expectations, but somehow, Emilia always manages to blow all my worries out of the water - although I’m still nervous about who may die in the next book...

But this one. Good gracious, me, oh, my. William and Olivia. And their love. And their STORY! And the protective brutes in her life. My goodness, I’m so in love.

And that ENDING! I was worried because there wasn’t an official epilogue listed within the table of contents, but again - my worries were so irrelevant because it was all so freaking perfect.

And now I wait for the Christmas novella and then Luke’s story. But for this very moment I’m gonna swoon a bit more and dream about all my favorites from this book and the rest. Because, damn, I’m sunk.

this was so heartfelt and incredible!

Will and Livi is such a beautiful story! From quick glances to pen pals and falling deep in love. When will finds himself in trouble the town rallies and helps to get him on his feet and choosing a different path. He spent years protecting his sister, keeping them in hiding and away from the police, to falling for “the cops daughter” and becoming one himself. Whilst there was hidden truths and plenty of bumps along the way they’ve come full circle where Olivia reigns in her pride and accepts the love William is giving her. Both from different walks of life and now picking out their dishwasher. So heartfelt and beautiful, be right back gunna have a little cry.. I am sucker for these guys.. and poor Troy for taking that bullet in his rear!

Not my favorite. I love how EF writes MMCs but often it is the FMC I do not like and that was the case in this book. I liked the growth of Will over the past few books and how his character really made himself a better person. I did not care for Olivia in this book. She was very hypocritical and the whole cheating issue. No matter what her relationship was with the lawyer she was cheating and then she was so mean to Will about his lies of omission. If they were honest with each other and kept each other’s secrets and helped each other work towards their goals I think it would have been much better. We don’t even get to enjoy the couple in a happy committed relationship which was the same as the last book. I do not enjoy books that the couple doesn’t fully get together until the very end.

Just keeps getting better

.Emilia is my favourite authour hands down with out a doubt. She has a way with words that brings real life issues, heartaches and traumas to pages that makes you feel like your not alone and when you find your person love is the road to healing. Amongst all the rollercoaster of emotions you go through you keep wanting more. This was no different, Eleusis was one hell of a ride. Will is a "criminal" that knows what he wants and that's Liv even though she is surrounded by cops and fighters he is not going down with out a fight, their road to a HEA is one hell of a ride that you need to strap yourself in for. No one can make you sob like a baby while laughing your ass off to wanting to throw the book across the room and yelling so loud your family will think you have lost the plot. Don't get me started on the sexy scenes they are soooo hot they will leave you fanning yourself. From the very beginning to the very end you won't want to put it down untill you finish then you want more. Once you start one of Emilia's books you, will discover This amazing World you didn't realise you needed . So do yourself a favour and read this incredible series but be warned once you start you won't be able to stop!!!!

OMG!

What the he’ll just happened????!!!! I’ve spent the last couple of hours immersed in Roller Town and my heart has constantly been in my mouth for one reason or another! Emilia Finn has such a way of writing that she totally draws you in and you feel like you are there in the moments of the story with the characters and watching them like a fly on the wall. I am so happy for Will, that after all his hard work he finally has his girl. There were so many things that I did not see coming with Will and Livi but I absolutely loved them and I loved their story. Who knew Aunt Jules had that in her? It was great to see an appearance from the Rosas and I look forward to possibly seeing more of them soon. Now, where are those Hart Twins at? x

There are not enough stars for Emilia Finn's books. Eleusis was another phenomenal book. Will was so much better than I went into this book thinking. I mean, I knew he was going to steal my heart, but dang, he exceeded expectations. Livi is such an awesome character also, although I may have wanted to cause her bodily harm at some points. With each book, it is impossible not to fall in love with each and every person in Rollertown. I highly recommend going back and starting at the beginning though. You can read this as a stand alone, but why would you when there are so many incredible people that you would miss out on getting to know! Thanks for yet another gazillion star read you amazing women you!

The Eleusis book is book nine of the Stacked Deck Series, a spinoff of the Rollin On series. This series focuses on the second generation of the characters in The Rollin On series. All by the same author Emilia Finn. Please start with the Rollin On Series PLEASE. I cannot stress that enough. It is not required, but it makes these so much better. You need all the background from the first series.

This book is built off the knowledge of Will Quinn in the previous books and Olivia Conner who is Ben’s sister and Oz’s step-daughter.
The character development was good and well thought out; it built on the reader's knowledge from previous books.

This book has a HEA, and it does not have a cliffhanger.

It’s just keeps getting better...

Of course there are some characters you like more than others but these two rank up with my favorites so far...Even though they both were so frustrating sometimes!! Gah. I have read literally hundreds of books and I cannot say enough about Emilia’s writing. It’s real. I can imagine these conversations actually happening. I find myself smiling or laughing during scenes. These books read like real life. Emilia is hands down one of my favorite authors of all time. Start with the Rollin On series if you haven’t already; you won’t be sorry. Can’t wait to see how this series ends and excited for the Rosa boys. Bring them on!

Can’t get enough of Olivia and William

Oh myyyyy gawdddd! This book DID NOT MAKE ME CRY. Okay I’m lying one part made me cry. I won’t say what part because it’s a huge spoiler. BUT this book was EVERYTHING. Will is everything. I absolutely adore the relationship between Olivia and William! Oz and Ben are hilarious. This book has so many past characters it’s great to see about their lives now. So ready for the new year to see where Emilia takes us in the (hopefully never ending) journey of roller town!! As always Emilia was complete brilliance. A total literary genius! Not so patiently awaiting for the next story in the series!!

A diamond in the rough

“I did it for you.....”. Much like all the men in the Roller World, the biggest thugs fall the hardest and prove to have the purest heart. William Quinn is no different and when he steps in and challenges every perfect facet of life Olivia thought she knew, he drags her from her ivory tower and shows her that true love isn’t always black and white. Sometimes there is that grey area where even a princess comes out dirty! Another great read by Emilia Finn!

One of the best things about reading Emilia Finn's books is that you dont really have to wait to long in between each story and she never fails to amaze. I have been waiting for Livi's book for awhile. She's always been the good girl but the good girls always have a dark side. Honestly, while reading this there were a couple twists that started to play out and I was surprised at the outcome, it was definitely not who I was thinking, but still extremely impressive and diabolical. Some parts toward the end after the big reveal had me laughing out loud. Loved every moment of this story.

Was unsure

Normally one of Emilia Finn's books takes me a day to read, because I couldn't put it down. I struggled a bit with this book. Unsure why that is. There was plenty of action and emotions. I was unsure if I even like Olivia or not. They bickered more than anyone can. All and all it was a great book. Emilia Finn did not disappoint! Totally loved the ending!!l
The love scenes were off the chart. Loved that you gave multiple levels to ensure the build in suspense went along with it all,

So Hot!

Not only is Will smoking hot on the book cover, the guy you fall more in love with throughout the book is simply sexy as sin! Explosive is a word that comes to mind after reading Olivia and Will’s story. There are so many things that are in play that you just don’t see, but you know they are there. You keep turning page after page as you watch the master storyteller, Emilia Finn, unravel a story that makes your heart swell, tears fall, and your pulse beat in all the right places. So, so good!

Oh will, I adore him so damn much. Literally he made this book everything that it was. I must admit as much as I liked Olivia, there were a few parts throughout the book that I got so frustrated with her but Will.....omg that man was 🔥🔥🔥

A few of the twists and turns i guessed and a couple I didn't so was a nice suprise. God i just cannot get enough of the roller families. Honestly I just love them all.

Romeo god I love this man also...he was such a great addition to this book.

All in all another great book by Emilia Finn, looking forward to the next one in this series.
