Danger on the Loch

Rate this book
Raised by a cold and distant mother, photographer Paisley Clark has spent her life daydreaming about the father she doesn’t remember. Paisley’s dream turns to reality when a DNA test brings her in contact with the mysterious man. With her financial situation a disaster and her childhood friend James Pressley-Coombes working across the pond in Scotland, Paisley is emboldened to accept her father’s invitation to visit him.

She arrives in the Highlands only to discover that she isn’t Paisley Clark at all but a titled lady, the daughter of a Scottish duke. Despite the warm welcome and the comfort of James’s presence, dangerous undercurrents surround Castle Rannoch, her father’s estate. Overwhelmed, Paisley takes refuge in her camera and James’s steady presence to provide a sense of normalcy in her rags-to-riches transformation. But her once-easy relationship with James is changing, deepening beyond friendship in a surprising twist of events. Before they have time to examine their feelings, Paisley inadvertently captures a shocking image in one of her photographs—a picture worth killing for.

In Danger on the Loch, Paige Edwards has done a masterful job combining contemporary mystery and suspense with the United Kingdom’s high society. DNA results, an unexpected meeting between father and daughter, and a blossoming romance are only a small piece of a story set in vividly-described Scotland. With stolen bank transfers, a possible traitor within the household, and a potential terrorist attack looming, expect to lose some sleep while racing to find out if James and Paisley will be able to survive long enough to find their happily ever after.

I've spent the previous couple of weeks prepping for this book to be released. When the cover was first revealed I was pulled in by the beauty and uniqueness of it that I just had to read it. All you who read books because of the cover understand. ;-) So as the release date came closer I went back and read the two previous books in this series because I needed to be all caught up. I'd eyed those books as well but with having so many books on my list they were lost in the pile. I'd thought about them and planned to read them (I even owned copies) but you know...life. Well I told myself it was past time to remedy reading this author's books. So I quickly binged listened to Catherine's Intrigue and Deadly by Design. Let me tell you I was hooked from the beginning of the first book. Now I've listened to the first two and read this one, I need more! Hahaha! I'll be patient though while the author works on the next book for the series.

These books fit so well together and I highly recommend that you read them in order. There's so much that you need to know. If you're not able to, well, I think you'd be fine reading this one as a stand alone. It's written to make that a possibility but the history is worth reading all three.

James is a Presley-Coombes. His siblings are the main characters in the previous books. I loved finding out more about him and Paisley in this one. I loved how James' family took Paisley under their wings and cared for her. That was fun to watch that friendship of many years be built upon. Of course, between James and Paisley, it builds to more than just friends.

There are many possibilities of who the bad guy could be. I honed in on them pretty quickly once all the characters were introduced. Woohoo, my detective brain is working great right now. Hee Hee! But the author did a great job of casting plenty of suspicions and doubts on several characters. Well done Paige Edwards!

Watch out for the danger on the Loch and other waters. Paisley, just stay away from the water. Honey, trust me! ;-) There were a couple characters who I really hoped would have some redemption. If you're going to read it, can you figure out who they are?

Not only was the suspense and danger and mystery woven together so well in this book, but the romance was very sweet. There's a history with the Presley-Coombes family and them finding love. It's explained in all three books so no worries about not understanding that history if you just read one of the books. James and Paisley were just so cute together. They had a few late night adventures, one was pretty fluffy and cute (can you guess, hmmm, maybe not but you'll laugh and smile big at that scene, at least I did). I was left with a happy sigh after their scenes together. So good!!!

There is so much more within the pages of this book, but I'll let you dive in and enjoy it for yourself and form your own opinions. But just know that I do highly recommend this book!

Content: Clean. Some moments of peril, some death and attacks but nothing overly graphic. There is nothing more than some kisses in the book. This book is considered Christian Fiction as well as it talks about church and God and religion. Specifically that of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

I received a review copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. And have purchased my own copy as well. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Paige Edwards is an author whose books I have come to anticipate and enjoy because romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. Oh, and props to the cover art. It's another beautiful one by this publisher.

Paisley has quite a few big changes come her way all at once. I thought she was a likeable character with a kind heart and a good head on her shoulders. Her relationship with James was more friendship based as they have known each other most of their lives but it made for a strong, dependable foundation. The relationship progressed but the plot was responsible for the forward momentum of the story. I liked how little nuggets were given along the way to draw suspicion to different characters but I always had my eye on the true culprit which I'm sure was meant to be. The nuggets and intense moments all came together for one final explosive ending. It was a fun ride. I think one of things that I really loved was the ending. After the big finale, the author brought things back down and wrapped the characters and plot up with a nice bow. It left me with a warm fuzzy feeling. I love happy endings after rough roads.

I also loved traveling in Scotland for this book. It's a place I'd love to visit one day and this book made me want to bump it up on my travel list but you will not find me eating Haggis. 😂

Content: kissing, peril, violence. Some mild Christian elements.

This suspense novel by a new to me author was primarily set in Scotland. I enjoyed the geographic details such as food and language giving readers a feel for the area. The story line had a fairy tale feel to it.

I read my first Paige Edwards book about a year ago, so when I heard about this one I couldn't wait for the release date. I love the cover, isn't it stunning? And the story inside grabbed me right from the start.

Paisley Clark's life has hit a rough patch. Her photography business isn't doing well so she's waiting tables and had to move back in with her mother. Because things aren't going well in her life, when a DNA test leads to an opportunity to go to Scotland to meet the father she doesn't remember, Paisley feels she has nothing to lose. James Pressley-Coombes is sent to Scotland to work on a project for the family business. He is surprised to see his long-time friend Paisley there. These two unexpectedly find themselves in the middle of a dangerous situation and adjusting to changes in their friendship.

As I said, this book grabbed me from the prologue and it didn't let go until the end--I read it in a little more than a day. I felt for Paisley. Her mother wasn't very loving and put her career first, but didn't really want Paisley to know about her father. When she arrives in Scotland and finds out who her father is I felt Paisley still didn't have a parental relationship she had longed for all of her life.

Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres and Paige Edwards certainly delivers. The suspense had me reading way past my bedtime wondering how it was going to end. There are several characters that could've been behind it all, and for once I was correct in my guess--that never happens. I thought the changes in Paisley and James' relationship came across as natural and not forced. I liked that although she's cared for James since high school, she didn't just jump from like to love. I did find her father overbearing, especially where James is considered. He acted as if Paisley had just met James when they've been friends for years.

James is great! He's sweet, kind and thoughtful. I liked how he was there for Paisley to help her through all the changes that happened once she arrived in Scotland. I really liked James' closeness to his siblings, especially his twin brother, and that he could turn to them for advice. Scotland!! The scenes the author describes just makes me want to go and see it all for myself. The green hills and castles. I just don't want to go in the winter--too cold for this southern girl, and I don't think I'll be eating any Haggis (I'm not that brave or adventurous an eater).

If you like romantic suspense or suspense don't pass up a chance to read this book. This is a clean romance and the suspenseful and violent are not graphic. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher Covenant Communications. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

“Danger on the Loch” is a book full of surprises! I had never had the chance to read anything by Paige Edwards before and having read this book now, I believe I’m ready to navigate the rest of her works.
I was positively impressed by this one. Even from the first opening pages, Edwards does a splendid job at helping you visualise the setting – the landscapes, the descriptions are vivid and they all come to life as you’re going through the pages of this book. Descriptions are a hit or miss for me because there are cases where you want the descriptions to stop, but this wasn’t such a case. Everything felt vibrant and mystical when appropriate and it was great getting to see the different settings unfold in front of our eyes. This, of course, is indicative of Edwards’ beautiful writing, which I think should be complimented.

Furthermore, I loved the characters! Paisley and James, in particular, are well-thought out characters and characters with substance. I enjoyed their interactions and their individual backgrounds and stories, which made the reading experience much better. While I was reading this, I realised there are books out on the individual stories of two of James’ siblings and now I am excited to check those out! We got a few hints about how their lives turned out so now I am intrigued regarding their journeys. I think it might be worth labelling these novels as a series, with each book being able to be read as a standalone of course, because then people wouldn’t miss out on the other books!
In addition to interesting main character, this book incorporates intriguing secondary characters, through either individual perspectives or through the perspective of the main characters. Either way, I was fascinated by those stories as well.

The elements of mystery and suspense are present and they will keep you guessing until you’ve reached the revelation part of the story. My wish is that the ‘revealing of things’ section of the story was a bit more fleshed out. It did feel a bit rushed in my opinion and I would have loved to be on the edge of my seat for a bit longer and take the time to read a methodical revelation and explanation of events. Another aspect I would have liked to see has to do with inner monologue; although we got satisfying inner monologue moments with James, with Paisley sometimes we got reactions and not a lot of inner contemplation during a few heated and intense moments. This could be a personal preference but it could add a lot more depth to her already fascinating character!

Overall, I was really happy with this read and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who wishes to read about mystery that meets romance and self-discovery in a haunting setting!

Thank you again to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for sending me an ARC of “Danger on the Loch”!

Edwards paints a picture of Scotland that felt like I was there with Paisley. I could see the beauty of the highlands and feel the cold sink into my bones! This mix of romantic suspense and the aristocracy of Scotland was spelling binding! Paisley’s story of finding her father was more than I could have imagined! Throw in the possibility of a traitor within her dad’s business dealings and a possible terrorist organization and I could not stop reading! I loved the romance, suspense, and mystery mixed in with the aristocracy of Scotland. It was so cool! I loved this book and look forward to more books by Edwards! I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Danger on the Loch is the first book I've read by Author Paige Edwards, and I will definitely be reading more of her books. Delightful! I enjoyed every minute of it! Set mostly in Scotland, a place I hope to visit someday, this tale has it all, a heroine looking for the father she doesn't remember, family, friendship, romance, suspense, betrayal, and more. What an engaging journey of discovery filled with humor and danger along the way.

"Why hadn't someone warned her that Scot's English resembled something from Middle Earth?"

"The woman who snared him would need to challenge, intrigue, and shake that keen intellect of his to keep him on his toes-- a tall order when he had the attention span of a gnat."

"He had a habit of sacrificing himself to smooth the bumps for others, often at his own expense."

"Love doesn't understand time. It's like music. It bypasses the reasoning powers of the mind and reaches straight into the soul."

This is one of those stories that I didn't want to end. Imagine my delight to know that another one is in the works!

I highly recommend "Danger on the Loch".
My thanks to the author for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Wow! This was such a good book, I loved the characters and the suspense. Danger on the Loch is written by Paige Edwards and it was a wonderful book. Danger on the Loch features Paisley Clark who has been raised by her cold distant mother, and when a DNA test brings her into contact with the father she has been longing for she jumps for a chance to see him. When she arrives in Scotland, Paisley learns that things are really not as they see. James finds himself in Scotland per orders from his father regarding his job. He never expected to find Paisley there or find himself in the middle of a mystery that could very well be the end of them both.
I really liked Paisley and James. They were just likable characters. Paisley had learned to be independent because of her relationship with her mother, but she was still searching for someone to accept her. She was such a great character, and she didn’t overreact in any of the situations. She was kind and tried her best to mend the relationship with her father. And I just really liked Paisley
James was a sweetheart! He was super kind and super energetic. I loved his little quirks and how he cared for Paisley. They were friends first, and I thought that it was the cutest thing.
I really enjoyed the romance and the suspense from this book. I was on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. Paisley was trying to find out how to mend the relationship with her father. James was trying to figure out how to care for Paisley, and how to do his job that brought him to Scotland. I loved reading about Paisley and James’ relationship grow from friends to lovers. Also, the suspense about what was going on with Paisley’s father and his company had me the whole time.
I would definitely recommend Danger on the Loch! There is some violence, but it isn’t really violent. And there are aspects of the Christian faith but it doesn't really feel preachy to me. I can't wait to read Edwards' other books! Danger on the Loch is a clean, suspense book.

“Paisley's DNA test links her to the father she doesn't remember and a heritage and name not her own.”

Danger on the Loch is one of the best books I have ever read. Not just this year. Ever. I don’t write that statement often. To say I loved everything about this story feels like an understatement. Excellent writing combined with well-crafted characters for an edge-of-your seat adventure.

I like how the relationships developed naturally while the characters pursued their individual goals. The romance was well-balanced with mystery and humor. The Pressley-Coombes family is one anyone would want to be friends with. Readers get to become just that as they get to know the characters better throughout the story. I loved Jamie’s (James’) chivalry, Paisley’s strength, and Granny’s spunk. I also admire Paisley’s conviction to stay true to herself and hold fast to her morals and beliefs when faced with displeasing a father she wants so much to impress. Torquil and Mrs. Grant were two more of my favorite characters.

There were a few scenes late in the story that did not flow as well as the rest of the story, but the sweet ending more than made up for it. This was the first I have read by Paige Edwards. Thirty percent into Danger on the Loch I knew I had to read more by this talented author. I purchased the first two Pressley-Coombes books and pre-ordered a physical copy of Danger on the Loch. I highly recommend this author to anyone who enjoys sweet, clean romantic suspense. 5/5

DANGER ON THE LOCH is a story about a woman who meets her estranged father for the first time in Scotland and gets enveloped in a life completely different from what she's used to. It's about her best friend who find he has feelings for her, and a dangerous plot that is woven throughout. Recommended to fans of the series and light romantic suspense.

I really liked these characters as well as seeing cameos from characters from prior books. I liked Paisley from the start. She seemed level-headed and fairly easy going. I also liked James and Ben and their camaraderie. Both James and Paisley grow in depth as the story goes and as I got to know them better. It was easy to see the bond between them and how they become more aware o each other with a palpable chemistry. I also though the suspense element was interesting but would have like more development and reasoning behind it all. I really loved Paisley's grandmother and her half brother. The ending was especially sweet. I also have to note that I loved this cover and how it connects to the misty moors and a red dress Paisley wears at one point in the story.

I had a few complaints. Paisley gets really dramatic in places which seemed a bit inconsistent to her character from the start of the book. Then there were other instances of drama that were a bit too much for me. I also didn't understand an act of vengeance later on in the book because I didn't see a reason for it.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This is an enjoyable read. It's heavier on the romance and lighter on the suspense with a slight element of faith. There is a climax towards the end that was plenty intense and I really liked. Definitely worth the read as a continuation of this series, although reading the first two books is not necessary to read this one.

This book was such a fantastic blend of mystery, intrigue, and romance! I could not put the book down as I watch Paisley navigate a blossoming romance with an old friend, establish a new relationship with her estranged father, and solve the mystery of who is trying to kill her. Add in the setting of the Scottish Highlands and it is no wonder this book kept me up way past my bedtime. This is a general Christian fiction with light faith-filled themes and references to God and faith scattered throughout but nothing overwhelming or preachy. It was simply part of who the main characters are.

I loved the other two books in this series and though each ends with a satisfying conclusion, I am always left excited to read the next book! Paige has created a world of fascinating characters thrown into intense and captivating characters and I am a huge fan!

If you enjoy suspense, romance, mystery, or heck, if you just enjoy reading a well-written book, you need to pick this one up!! I will definitely be re-reading again as I wait for the next Pressley-Coombes sibling to have their adventure.

I received a complimentary copy of the book but a positive review was not required.

Great romantic suspense novel by Paige Edwards! I loved how the romance was a friends to move theme and how neither one of them really realized what was happening until it happened. I loved the mystery aspect of the story and how it took until almost the end of the story before we really knew who was behind everything and why they were doing it. I loved the books setting and how Paige described it. It made me feel like I was there. I loved getting to know these characters and how invested I was in there outcome. Great story!

This just may be one of my top five favorite books I’ve read this year. I was so incredibly impressed with the author.
This is the first Paige Edwards book I’ve read and I immediately liked her writing style and her descriptions.
This is a story I would read over again in a heartbeat. I don’t usually do suspense, because I’m a wuss, but I loved the way the author balanced all the aspects of the story. It was definitely a page turner that I just could not put down, but I never got too intense, or too dramatic. She built both the suspenseful and relationship tension with such a fabulous ebb and flow I was captivated from page one.
The story had a little bit of a “What a Girl Wants” vibe but oh so better. The characters were actually likeable. The villain was not entirely clear, though not completely unexpected. I am completely in love with Paisley and James and you better believe I will now be reading all the other books in this series.
With incredibly intelligent writing and religious overtones which were subtle and incredibly well written. I am 100% a Paige Edwards fan now.

A contemporary romantic suspense set in the glens of Scotland that whisked me away with a rivetingly winding plot filled with intrigue.

A book that had me glued to the page, this book has it all with mysterious secrets to unwind, well realized characters, amazing relationship development between various characters, satisfying romance, all against the lush backdrop of a Scottish castle. I admired Paisley for her strong convictions regarding her faith, and I loved how she and James are there for each other. There were so many amazing characters, like her grandmother and Paisley's 12 year old half-brother, and I enjoyed seeing Paisley get to know and form relationships with them.

I was absolutely blown away. This book that brings out all of the best parts of all of the elements that it brings to the table, with a twisting plot that kept me engaged and highly invested in all of the characters and their relationships, which made for a satisfying read. Highly recommend!

A friends-to-more romantic suspense, Danger on the Loch takes readers to Scotland as Paisley navigates her newfound status as the daughter of an aristocrat.

With her longing for a loving and involved parent, Paisley is an easy character to empathize with and James, a friend Paisley has known for years, is an excellent anchor and support for her in a new place with new family and acquaintances. Their romance may seem sudden but the history between the two of them makes it believable.

Paige Edwards’ descriptions of Scotland from the castle to the weather to the landscape paint a vivid picture, and the foundation for the tension and suspense is built early on.

This was the first book written by Edwards that I’ve read. It’s a good thing it’s the third in a series because that means there’s more out there to enjoy.

Every once in a while I read a book that I never want to end. Danger on the Loch was that book for me. I was captivated by the characters, plot, and setting. It is the third book in a series and can be followed easily as a stand-alone. I would consider reading ALL of them!

Paige and James have known each other for years. They grew up together and James' family took her under their wing. Her mother is not the loving type and she grew up without an extended family. A DNA test reveals the identity of her long-lost father, Cameron Douglas. She has questions, the biggest is why he was non-existent in her life.

The book is a romance and suspense. Yay! I LOVE this genre. Cameron Douglas has someone siphoning funds from one of his businesses. Paige and James are both in Scotland and are pulled into the mystery. I loved that the "bad guy" is revealed a little piece at a time. Paige Edwards did a wonderful job at building the suspense. There were several people in the story who could have been the villain, but when he was revealed, it was very satisfying.

This book! I could not put it down! I was in a reading slump and Danger on the Loch pulled me out of it.

Paisley and James were always friends and she watched him date all her friends. Paisley has always felt a little out of place, even in her own family. Her dad left when she was a baby and she never knew him. Her mom always valued her career.

Paige Edwards writes a fantastic suspense that keeps a reader hooked and guessing. Things are definitely not always what they seem. Add a little romance and you have a perfect book to read. Don't start it at bedtime or a book hangover will definitely happen.

This is part of a bigger series, but can be read as a standalone. Elements of family and faith bring a wholesome quality to a story of intrigue, terrorists, and suspense. Both James and Paisley find themselves inadvertently drawn in to the bigger mystery which causes some tense situations.

You won't regret spending a few hours in this world. It was a fascinating escape.

I received an early copy from the publisher and this is my honest review.

Danger on the Loch started out great! There was murder, mystery, theft, intrigue and a brewing romance! Then at 75% in it seemed like the author forgot about all of the strings she had spinning and decided to tie them all together really quickly in a very predictive way. Which was a bummer because I was enjoying getting lost in another world.

Pros:
We have an everyday normal girl who finds out she’s royalty!
We have a friends to lovers romance.
We have a mystery to solve!

Cons:
The author spent time lining up events in the novel but tied them up way too quickly. It was too predictive.
The ending was too fluffy.
The romance was a slow build and then magically they started calling each other “baby” and were throwing around the words “I love you” like it was candy.
Paisley, the main character, just kind of rolled with everything. There was no diatribe against any of the things that were said or done to her. There wasn’t even any internal monologue about her feelings about her new settings. If it were me or anyone I knew, we’d be throwing hissy fits over parents not telling us the truth for all of our lives. We wouldn’t just get over it and roll with the punches.

All in all, this novel had a great pace. It’s a Christian novel so there’s a couple of scenes where they pray. If that’s your jam then this will be your book. If prayer is not your jam then you will still enjoy this book but can skip maybe two pages.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for review.

Not really my kind of book. It was ok but not great. The main girl character drove me crazy. The romance was lacking... It was also pretty predictable. I had guessed from the beginning who was behind everything but the distractions the author put in to make you second guess were pretty lame. Maybe it would be enjoyable for a young adult or youth, or if I was in the mood for more brainless, enjoy the mystery... I don't know, I just know I didn't really enjoy it...

will be honest, this was my first Paige Edwards novel, but it absolutely will not be my last! I loved the mystery, the suspense, the romance. This one kept me guessing and even when I figured some things out, I was still guessing. I am really looking forward to reading the first and second books in this series (from what I understand, don’t be like me; read them in order)!

I liked the dynamic between Paisley and James from the beginning. I’m a fan of the friends-to-more trope and felt that this one was well done. Paisley’s character was interesting and my heart kind of went out to her because of her family situation. That’s kind of a lot to deal with but I think she still did pretty well, all things considering. I loved how clueless James was and also his slow realizations. But I especially loved when he finally figured out he had feelings for Paisley and he had to wrestle with himself to find a way to make her know he was serious. (And, without trying to give anything away, I will just say that the whole thing with the camera was amazing and I loved him all the more! I may even have teared up a little. So cute!)

Paisley’s mom is a piece of work and I just can’t find any reasons to like her. I was glad that Paisley’s dad came around but I did find myself frustrated with his behavior several times. I even got mad when he acted like he could boss Paisley around and tell her what to do. She’s an adult and you literally just joined her life, so um no, you can’t just boss her around like she’s an 11 year old. Also, anytime he got “embarrassed” by her behavior I blame on him. He knows she hasn’t be raised in British nobility! Don’t assume she knows how to act. Munira is a piece of work, too. I actually didn’t really like her. I’m trying to like her for Paisley’s sake, but she doesn’t make it easy. Paisley’s brother is adorable and I loved him right away. Same with Granny. She was a hoot! I busted a gut a couple times with her quips. She’s the best and I want to adopt her as my Granny. Also, the whole house thing at the end was super cute.

I really enjoyed this storyline and the twists and turns the book takes. It kept me on the edge of my seat and fully invested throughout the entire thing. As soon as I finished, I started raving about how good it was to anyone who would listen. Because IT WAS SO GOOD! I could read it again right now.

Also, I really want to go to Scotland, now!

Quotes I loved (could contain potential spoilers; read at your own risk):

When she had flown to Scotland, Paisley had worried about acclimating to the difference in culture, accent, wrong-side-of-the-road-driving, and strange bathroom facilities. What she hadn’t counted on was her father’s wealth and title.

It was black as pitch and colder than a polar bear’s toenails.

“Our height has been tampered with by fairies. There’s a story that the fairies kiss the female bairns in our family to steal them from their parents. But our human blood holds true, and we remain in the land of mortals until they return to take us home to the Fairy Hill.”

“Munira lords it over the women as being the best-dressed female at every function. It was be a braw day indeed when she topples off that dais,” Granny said with a wink.

“They’re still people, James. They put their pants on the same way as you and me—oh wait. Maybe not. They wear skirts up there, don’t they?”

A smart rap sounded on the door. Granny’s eyes brightened, and a little smirk played about her mouth. “Americans are such an impatient breed.”

“That’s an unusual cow,” Paisley said.
“Buttercup? Aye. She thinks she’s a racehorse. We can’t keep her out of the pasture with Dad’s thoroughbreds. She’s forever breaking down the fences.”

“Love doesn’t understand time. It’s like music. It bypasses the reasoning powers of the mind and reaches straight into the soul.”

With a captivating setting and characters you'll easily fall in love with, Danger on the Loch was hands down a fabulous romantic suspense novel! I really enjoyed this book! One of my favorite aspects of this novel is the way in which the author mixes the aristocracy of the UK with contemporary romance and suspense. In many ways, it's a perfect blend of all my favorite genres and is masterfully executed; I didn't want to put this book down until I finished reading it and while the ending left me completely satisfied, I'm equally looking forward to the next book.
Paisley has always wondered about her biological father. After a DNA test connects her to the man himself, she ventures to Scotland to meet him only to discover she's the daughter of a Scottish Duke. As if that news wasn't shocking in and of itself, her childhood friend, James, and his company are connected to her father, adding an additional layer for her to puzzle out as she navigates her world. There's something underfoot happening in the Highlands and Paisley inadvertently finds herself caught up in more than just new relationships. The suspense was super good! My attention was held from the first page and I liked that the story wasn't predictable and had twists and turns I didn't see coming. There is also just enough humor with the charming James and his ability to brighten every moment that I had a smile on my face while I also was biting my nails in anticipation.
This is a fabulous story of friendship, love, and family with an awesome side of suspense that will keep you turning the pages way past your bedtime. I highly recommend this book!
I received an advance reader copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A trip to Scotland brings danger and romance...

With a title like Danger On The Loch I knew there would at least be a little mystery. But, I was in for a bit of a surprise. The tale did feel a little like a cozy mystery at times but it was also well mixed with romantic suspense and a touch of Gothic.

It's been awhile since I've 'had' an adventure in Scotland and I was in need of an escape so this book from new-to-me author Paige Edwards seemed like a good choice. And I did enjoy it. It may not be the most complicated of plots but it was fun to take it a little easier and still try my own Nancy Drew skills at figuring out the villain. Plus there were some surprises along the way that livened things up.

Danger On The Loch also had a great friends-to-lovers element that I really liked. I've never been a fan of love triangles, thankfully this book has none, but friends-to-lovers is one romance trope that I can almost always get behind. And these two, Paisley and James, are so sweet together, first as friends and even more as romance begins to blossom.

Danger On The Loch was a charming read and a great introduction to Paige Edwards' storytelling. I enjoyed the story and will have no problem reading more from her. There were a couple of references to a related book and now Paige Edwards has me curious...

(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

Okay! I couldn’t put this one down and is definitely my favorite Pressley-Coombes book so far! Normally I’m pretty good at figuring out the storyline or who the bad guy is (which is comical since I’m not like that in real life:). But this book had me guessing and guessing until the bad guy is literally pointed out to the reader.
James and Paisley are so sweet and I really enjoyed the friends to lovers trope in this book (which is saying something because that is one of my least favorite tropes). I love all of the “aha” moments and of course the book-gripping suspense that made it impossible to put this book down.
Just like the last book, I loved getting updates on characters from the previous books, and being introduced to new good/bad characters. The storyline was intriguing and I loved the character development.
Overall this book was so great (I read it in one day!) and I would highly recommend it. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
You can read it on its own, but you’ll get a better background on somethings if you read the first two.

"Danger on the Loch" is a romantic suspense novel. The main focus was on Paisley's reunion with her father and growing romantic attraction to James, but there was a suspense element as well. Paisley always liked James since he and his family were there for her as she grew up. However, James didn't realize that he was attracted to her until they were both in Scotland and she needed his support in dealing with her father and his family.

The main characters were likable and reacted realistically to events. The suspense came from relationship tensions and the viewpoint of someone being blackmailed into hurting Paisley's family. There was physical danger to Paisley and James after they accidentally witnessed someone--are they terrorists?--testing a deadly poison on animals. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable story.

I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Paisley inadvertently captures a shocking image in one of her photographs—a picture worth killing for.

MY TAKE
What a fun book! This is the first one I've read by Paige Edwards, and I'm so glad I found her. This book is an exciting and swoon worthy story of two old friends who find themselves in Scotland Paisley has been invited to visit the father she thought abandoned her (he didn't). He just happens to be a duke. And James, her childhood friend, is there on assignment for his family's business. What follows is discovering her heritage, finding lost family connections, intrigue, and--of course--romance. I just found out this is actually the third book in a series about James and his three siblings. Now I'm off to read the first book.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a great job!

Danger on the Loch
A Pressley-Coombes Romantic Suspense
By Paige Edwards

First off I have to say I just love this cover. Yes, I'll admit it the cover was what first drew me to this book and then I read the book blurb, and then how could I say no when given a chance to read this book.

The opening prologue hints at what is to come and with the first few chapters one can't help but wonder just how this will play out in the rest of the storyline. Danger on the Loch is excellent reading, and if you are a fan of romantic suspense you will LOVE this book.

Now I will say it is obvious from little remarks made throughout this book that this is part of a series and it is not the first but the book in no way felt as if I had been missing something by not reading the other books. The story is complete in and of itself. I loved getting to meet Paisley Clark, who is about to get her fondest wish to learn who her father is and to actually get to meet him. Paisley is about to get the shock of her life when she travels to Scotland to meet the man her mother refused to acknowledge.

I also liked getting to know James Pressley-Coombes, who happens to be one of Paisley's dearest childhood friends. And by happenstance James is working in Scotland able to provide Paisley with the support she needs as she navigates this new part of her life. When their longstanding friendship shows signs of becoming something more Paisley and James are not about to rush into anything. And soon danger seeks them out and worse it could cost them their very lives.

So set aside several hours, turn off your phone, fix yourself a cup of tea or coffee, hang up a do not disturb sign, and delve into this book. It will rank up there as some of your best spent hours and you won't regret it.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but to provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

A contemporary look at the aristocracy of modern Scotland struggling to maintain a level of henestly and loyalty. Evil seeps into the loch country--fraud, extortion, murder. Paisley--new to her ladyship role--enters a misty, mysterious realm full of Scottish lore.

I couldn't put it down. I'll definitely read the first ones in the series.
