This story brings you in with a possible typical romance of a jilted lover, but then you find yourself on a fast, white-knuckling thrill ride. From the part where Tawney makes her entrance, this story will have your adrenaline pumping with the twists and turns she and Colt endure. The fast-paced story had me flipping through pages faster than a tornado taking down a house—a perfect combination of high-intensity, suspense, and spiciness.

I feel like yelling “Yee haw" or “Whoopie" because this is the best of what romantic suspense should be. With hit after hit, twists you'll never see coming, and enough chemistry to melt a foot of snow off the roof of a woodland cabin, it's an intoxicating, nail-biting read that will have glued to every word. Padgett had me reading late into the night because I absolutely HAD to find out how it all ended. This is the first book from Alexa Padgett and it won't be my last.
Midnight Dance was suspenseful, well written, and steamy scenes. Tawny is an ethical hacker that has found herself employed by the FBI and that puts her in tremendous danger. She happens upon a knight in shining armor who rescues her and together they attempt to escape the people who are after them.
At first I thought this story was going to be a crime suspense story, which it is, but it's so much more.
I look forward to reading more from this author!

My first read by Alexa and I wasn't disappointed. Colt's day gets off to a bad start when his ex turns up at his brother's wedding managing to scam her way in. Tawny is an ethical hacker on a contract with the FBI. Someone she thought she could trust she lets in her cottage. But he is on a mission to get her but she manages to escape from his clutches. Her path collides with Colt's and then we're lead off on a hard to put down read full of thrills, spills along with twists and turns you don't see coming.
I received an arc for NNBB and loved this story. Anita starts with Colt's story then when Tawny enters the picture you have to keep turning the pages to see what happens next. If you love a story with a bit of romance, intrigue, mystery, and danger thrown in you will love this one. I can't wait to read more from Anita.

Midnight Dance starts out with Colt Rippey pinning over his ex-girlfriend. Colt is attending his brother’s wedding when in walks his ex-girlfriend. Colt is on his way to becoming intoxicated but then decides not to let his ex pull him down like that.

Afterward, Colt decides he needs a vacation from his ex and everything else. Colt is on his way to spending some time alone in a remote cabin when he spots a woman on the side of the road. Tawny was attacked and stumbles out in the road trying to escape her death.

With nowhere to go Colt takes Tawny to his cabin and soon finds himself drawn into her world. Tawny is on the run from some dangerous people, people who want to see her dead. Tawny knows too much for them to let her live and tell her tale to the people she is working with to bring them down.

Midnight Dance is a fast-paced read that once I picked it up I couldn’t lay it down until I had turned the last page. Midnight Dance is filled with suspense from the first page or at least from the first page Tawny entered on that is. Midnight Dance will keep the pages turning with all its suspense and twists that never lets up from one page to the next.

Tawny Reed is working for the FBI as a consultant. She has uncovered some criminal activity in a company the FBI is investigating. Howie Novak shows up at her house to kill her, but she escapes with a gun shot to her thigh. She has to walk through the forest to get away. Colt Rippey is traveling to his cabin when he sees a body on the side of the road. It is Tawny in need of help. This is a page turning thriller that is hard to put down. It is very suspenseful as the two of them go on the run as they are being hunted. It is also a love story.

This is a new to me author and one I'll definitely be reading more from if they are anything like this book.
With a fast paced & suspenseful plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover, mixed with lovable characters that you'll fall in love with, this book is a no brainer one click.
As a self proclaimed suspense junkie, I loved trying to fit all the puzzle pieces, while rooting for the main characters safety and love story.
I love finding hidden gem authors like this.

We meet Colt at his brothers wedding. It is lovely to see a former Seattle Sound couple tie the knot. Colt also sees all that he doesn’t have and very clearly what he doesn’t want.
Tawny is introduced at knifepoint.
These two worlds come crashing together in the side of a road. The common link is Kara.
This high paced action/suspense romance will keep you turning the pages until the very end. Well rounded characters make it an easy read.
This is a crossover novel that bridges the Seattle Sound series with a new more suspenseful series. However, it can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea.

This is a new to me author and I love her writing. This book was fantastic. If you like fast paced, intrigue and suspense all wrapped in romance, you will love this book. Colt and Tawny were fantastic characters. I loved how protective Colt was and how quirky Tawny was. I really enjoyed this book and will be reading more from this author.

This book is a spin off of A Seattle Sound Series and it is Tawny and Colt's story and wow the suspense in this book is off the charts. Tawny is a hacker for the FBI but when she was attacked and stabbed she realised just how dangerous her job is after all her dad had been killed also in the line off duty and she wanted to find out who killed him and why so she vowed to do this job and then she was out. Colt is a biology professor and while going to the family cabin he came across a woman that was seriously injured and realised that she needed help and protection. Tawny and Colt go on the run to protect the evidence that Tawny has so that they can get it to the correct people. Tawny and Colt's chemistry and connection between them was instant and grew so strong the more they were together but will it be enough for them to have a future after all the danger has passed. Omg this book was absolutely amazing with all its twists and turns along with danger, betrayal, loss, hope, secrets and other situations and I couldn't put this book down as I had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and it was so addictive with great character's and storyline that pulled you in right from the first page. Alexa Padgett is one of my favourite authors and she is an amazing and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.

One is on the run from her attacker and the other goes into seclusion after a disastrous encounter with his ex. Neither realises just how much in common they have and as their lives converge, it takes all their wits to keep one step ahead of those who would see them dead. This novel is intense and fast-paced, and as can be expected, when thrown together in dire circumstances, feelings run high and emotions are aroused. Colt is something of an accidental hero, but when he finds the unconscious Tawny lying on the side of the road, his protective instincts come to the fore. Tawny has had something of a checkered past and having been given the opportunity to work for the FBI, she takes the chance offered to her. Only, it puts her in more danger than she could have envisioned and it opens the door to more questions than answers. I enjoyed this suspenseful romance, which is part of a series and does come to a good conclusion. I received a copy of this well-written novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Exciting, edge-of-your-seat action and suspense!

Tawny and Colt are in for the most dangerous week of their lives! Wow! I was instantly hooked and the non-stop story kept me glued to my kindle through every surprise twist and shocking revelation!

I love the use of alternating first-person POV in this story, as it really helps us to get to know Colt and Tawny quickly, especially since most of the story involves life-and-death situations. Even against the backdrop of all that, their near insta-love felt so real, so authentic, despite being so very quick! This is the perfect example of "when you know, you know" and I couldn't dream of it being any other way for these two.

The complex plot kept me guessing all the way through, and the intense scenes only added to the overall gripping story. If you like your romances fast paced and filled with intrigue, this is the book for you. I loved every last page and immediately shelved it on my to-be-read-again list. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Even though this was a suspense romance, I actually preferred the suspense in this over the romance. The suspense part was filled with plenty of nougats and breadcrumbs to keep us guessing. We follow Colt after the marriage of his brother Clay as he reels from his ex-relationship. He finds a woman on the side of the road and finds himself sucked into a deep hole. It wasn't my favorite book by Padgett.

The way that Alexa has weaved Colt and Tawney’s past together in this suspense filled romance is masterful. I would never have suspect such a link to the two but Ms. Padgett created a web that keeps you glued to the Kindle.

Tawney is smart, stubborn and in danger. Her job doesn’t exactly keep her out of danger in a way. Only this time her job has found a way to fine her and not in a good way. She is in trouble and it is Colt that is there.

Colt, who wants to find love but has been burned because he doesn’t find anyone who likes him for him and not who his dad is, is a great guy. He is unlucky in love and getting a bit jaded in that respect but a great guy. He is kind, caring and smart. After a epiphany that he needs to get his head on straight, he is off to his family’s cabin but along the way finds Tawney and stops to help her. This changes his life forever.

Tawney and Colt are opposites in some ways. Tawney is more scrappy and expressive. Colt is more reserved and doesn’t always deal well with feelings. The one thing they do have is a attraction that is through the roof. Oh and Tawney’s job has now put Colt in danger as well. Although I think eventually he would be in danger due to his past relationship decisions. These two are trying to figure out who killed people in the past, how Colt’s past is involved, gain evidence to put people away and survive all while falling in love in just a few short days. That is the part that Colt is having a hard time wrapping his head around. The falling in love so fast. Neither are trusting due to their past but Tawney seems more open than Colt. She lets him in faster and he does hurt her with how he sometimes doesn’t cope well with his feelings and that comes out in his reactions at times. Together the two make a formidable team and steam up the Kindle. They are both protective of the other and will sacrifice for one another. They both need closure in order to move forward and this case of Tawney’s can do that.

A story that keeps you on the edge of your seat but also in the moment. A story on family, love and acceptance that is full of intrigue, danger, and steamy times that you can’t put down until the end.

Tawny is working for the FBI to avoid a criminal record. Things go sideways, and she's been stabbed and laying on the side of the road when Colt finds her. He takes her to his vacation cabin to keep her safe but even that turns out to be a bad idea. The book is full of suspense and romance, action and steam, hope and betrayal. Colt and Tawny have no idea how intertwined their lives are. And even less of an idea who they can trust. The book starts off at a fast pace from the first page, and never lets up. I've read from this author before, but not in this series. Gonna have to rectify that, because this was wonderful.

Midnight Dance is a spinoff of the Seattle Sound series, but nothing like that series. We get some romance and lots of suspense. The intensity of whom do we trust, how is this all connected kept me turning pages.

We start at the Wedding of Colt’s brother, as his ex-arrives. It just goes downhill from there and fast. He needs to get away, he knows he wants what his brother and his new wife have, not his ex. On his way to a remote cabin, he finds Tawny on the side of the road. She is injured, beginning the craziest week of their lives. Not even 24 hours later with Colt and Tawny on the run, not sure whom they trust. The unraveling of the web, and things we learn, twists taken along the way make Midnight Dance a quick read. This book is well written and I could not put it down.

This was my first read by Alexa and I really enjoyed it.... a fast paced romantic suspense read that will have you on the edge of your seat!

Colt has been heartbroken by his ex girlfriend and plans to get away to the family cabin in the woods. Along the way he comes across an injured woman at the side of the road, little does he know how much is life is set to change in the next few days as he rescues Tawny!

Tawny is an ethical hacker working with the FBI on a dangerous case linked to her murdered father. She gets rescued by Colt after being attacked and he takes her to the safety of his cabin, which doesn't stay safe for long!

They have an instant attraction to each other but are also at odds with one another, from two completely different worlds. He is trying to forget about his ex and is not looking for another relationship but is drawn to her and just can't stop himself. She knows she is living in a dangerous world and doesn't want to get him involved, but has never felt as safe as she does as when she is with Colt. Little do they realise they have more in common with this case than either know!!

Told from dual POV's with lots of twists and turns in the plot that keep those pages flicking over at a rapid pace! A very enjoyable read, I look forward to reading more from Alexa!

Holy crap this book was amazing. I have never read this author and when I first saw the sign up I wasn't sure I wanted to read this book, but I am so glad I did. This story flowed from the first to the last page. It had everything in it. Heat pounding drama, love, lust, and parts that will scare you. I felt I was in this story and was bummed when it ended. Colt feels like he needs to get himself together after another run in with his crazy ex. He decides it's time to go to his cabin for some alone time on his way there he never expects to find a women on the side of the road in bad shape. Tawny is a backdoor hacker who is doing a job for the FBI, but she's about to find out what her life is worth. When Colt finds her she know she needs to ditch him she doesn't want him involved. These two peoples lives are intertwined and man it will take you for a ride. Can they get past the bullets and find out the truth? I will tell you this that I thought it was one person and was blown away when the truth came out.

I received an arc of this book n I was so grateful to get it because i enjoyed this book! This book is about a female hacker getting entangled with law enforcement to help solve their cases, the last one being personal as it involves her father's death! In the process of uncovering this mission, she bumps into the hero n thereon starts their exciting journey! Tawny was a smart girl with a good head but at the same time had a lot of softness to her! This was seen in the way she was with Colt! Colt was a surprise! He saved Tawny from further danger n was right by her side during the entire mission in helping the FBI solve the case! Tawny n Colt had steamy chemistry n I loved the 2 of them together! The mystery n the suspense has been thrillingly entwined by the author in uncovering the actual suspects n their involvement! This was a great book n covered all aspects beautifully! 👏👌🆒📚💃💖

Part of the A Seattle Sound Series Romantic Suspense Spin-off series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Tawny Reed was attacked in her home and was able to escape but had been stabbed she made it as far as the road where she collapsed. Biology professor Colt Rippey found her and took her to his cabin. There is suspense, drama, danger, murder, twists, turns, a nasty ex, secrets, and romance. I enjoyed reading and want to read the next book. Tawny and Colt meet when he finds her bloody body lying on the side of a road in the Olympic Forest of WashingtonState. She's injured, cold and scared. He soon discovers what he hoped would be a simple rescue is going to be a days-long cops and robbers kind of Good Samaritan rescue.
All the while Tawny and Colt are running from the bad guys, it's hard to determine who can be trusted and who should be feared. His ex-girlfriend Kara and her supposed new husband play a big part in the ongoing drama and confusion. They're nothing but trouble. It is next to impossible to determine who is most dangerous because they're very complex and devious individuals.
Along the way, with all the stresses of being assaulted and constantly running from the bad guys and the law, Tawny and Colt fall for each other. They each have a lot to give to a relationship eventhough they've not been in spectacularly successful ones in the past.
There are significant surprises in the last quarter of the book. There's no telling who will come under suspicion next. Nice job Alexa Padgett!

Midnight Dance was my 1st Alexa Padgett novel and I enjoyed this romantic suspense. From the start this novel held my interest and I was hooked until the end. It was fast paced and action packed, filled with intrigue, danger and some steamy scenes and it had me guessing at every turn. The author did a great job with the suspense, and creating likable characters you will be rooting for throughout the story.
I loved that in the midst of all the mystery and danger, there was an emerging love story. Tawny and Colt made a great couple with intense chemistry and connection. This novel was well written and complex and filled with so many twists and turns, you will be frantically turning the pages to see what happens next. I was consumed with the storyline which had me fully engrossed and would highly recommend it to all lovers of romantic suspense.

What a thrilling read. Tawny and Colt are combustible together in this suspenseful and romantic read. Tawny is an ethical hacker on a contract with the FBI and injured. He discovers her and takes her to his cabin to heal. This is an intriguing read with mystery, danger, passion and great twists and turns. I love the characters and the plot keeps you glued until the very end.

Tawny Reed is an ethical hacker and works for the FBI, but this life is not for her. She just wants to finish her last job and move back in with her mother in the little city of Laramie, Wyoming. But when she's stabbed at work, she must unravel the mystery of her father's death in order to be free of all threats.
Colt Rippey decides to spend a few days in his family's cabin to permanently forget about his ex, but when he meets an injured woman by the side of the road, little did he know that his life would change forever.
As the two fight together for survival and who to trust, the feelings between them grow and it's impossible for them to be separated.
I loved the story, the romance and the suspense, the characters are incredible. I highly recommend the reading.
