Ashley’s mom’s death was the end of the world as she knew it. The arrival of a father she believed to be dead was her chance for a new one. Before she even had time to grieve, she was whisked away to a tiny mountain town in Montana. A world of surprising beauty and quiet she could escape in. Where the people are friendly and the mountain trails seem to go on for forever. Maybe, just maybe, this new world won’t be so bad.
But the mountains can be dangerous. In the snow sometimes you don’t see the wolf until it’s on top of you. Still reeling from the loss of her mother, Ashley is going to have to make friends fast if she wants to survive. Maybe there’s a reason that cute boy and his family live so far out of town, where people don’t ask questions. Now if she could only stay away from him…

One of the first thing is the book's beautiful cover. So perfect and fitting to the book. And the plotline was so intriguing that once you start reading it you will be intrigued so much that you won't be able to stop reading. The book was successful in potraying every relationship perfectly. May it be between the father daughter relationship between Alex or Ashley or the love between Nathaniel and Ashley or the friendship that Kara, Liz and Ashley had. I definitely enjoyed reading the book and I am definitely excited to read the next part to know more about what happens in Ashley's life.
If you are a fan of fantasy creatures and romance, then this book is definitely a must read. Great plotline and characters that you will be be hooked from the first page itself. If you are a fan of werewolf romance then this book is a definite must read. Because it's so different then all other books that I have read in this genre.
I loved this paranormal romance! Unlike other brooding antiheroes of the genre, the leading male is actually kind and likable (and waaaaaay less problematic as a love interest). Our protagonist, Ashley, may need saving from danger now and then (who wouldn't with actual monsters running around the mountain), but she is brave and resourceful in her own right. The side characters are fun and the small Montana town kinda reminded me of Stars Hollow on Gilmore Girls in how quirky and tight knit a community can be. The book opens with our protagonist, Ashley, losing a family member; I recently lost my dad and related to her experience quite a bit. I definitely could have used more time with this aspect of the story, as Ashley's loss and some of the side characters get a little side lined as the action heats up. But maybe that's realistic- first loves can be all consuming! :)
I think the real standout of the book is the relationship Ashley forms with her love interest's family, which is just as interesting as the romance itself. The action is also great (and brutal); I enjoyed the supernatural world building in general. There's some editing issues in the book, but darn it, it was hard to put this story down! I devoured it in a few days and definitely lost some sleep. How gorgeous is that cover too? If you like Twilight, Shadowhunters, or the Fallen series, as I do, you should definitely check this out.
I expected a paranormal romance to be like others of its genre, a little risqué. However, this was a good clean story that left just enough openings to engage one’s interest in the next book. It would have been a five star, but it needs more editing.
