started this series on Sunday, it’s now Wednesday and I’m so addicted - I fucking ate this up and left no crumbs.
this book was everything I expected and more, from the little sneak peeks in hard ?? I already knew I would love this book, the way he already hated her ex in the first book made me know I was in for a good ride
let’s talk about a few things that made me fall so inlove with this book:
1.) kennedy fucking walsh.
english major? obsessed already, say no more.
I was sold the second she started quoting dictionary definitions like it’s text script in her hands. like, are you kidding me!??!
the color-coded notes, the obsessive planning, the die-hard dedication to her studies? she’s the kind of person I strive to be
there’s something so calming and lovely about reading a character like kennedy, somebody whose unapologetically herself and fierce
the way she stands her ground? literal dream
2.) spencer fucking armstrong
I have always had a sacred place in my heart - an actual compartment - reserved for tortured bad boys who communicate mostly through growls and grunts. spencer is the president of that compartment. from now until my last breath, that place belongs to him. he walks around like he’s made of fire and stone, like nothing touches him, but the moment he falls for kennedy? he doesn’t deny it. doesn’t run from it. no games no bullshit.
yes his last catches up to him - twice - but each time, he owns it. he learns because he loves her, like really loves her. and watching him try, stumble, and then try again - for her was everything. he’s rough on the edges, soft in the soul, and completely impossible to not fall in love with
3: the bonds in this book make me sob every time, the way they all bond together and have each other’s back is so pure and beautiful that it makes my heart hurt, the way summer comes into kennedy’s life and cares for her and the little things she throws off, for example, when she went out of her way to get kennedy the pastries she said she stuffed in her purse before they all went and lied and said they were old when in fact we know she had them made that day for kennedy, and then getting her the lipstick for her sister wedding to match her complexion and hair (😭) and don’t forget when towards the ending she had the allergy reaction and the whole argument scene, she didn’t want kennedy hating her so instead she gave her information that she could ruin lives with. watching her come into kennedy’s life, seeing how that friendship starts and grows - it made my heart so full. summer is pure sunshine. every time she was on page, it made the story feel warmer and richer

all time favourite quotes:
“spencer was there. waiting for me. like he never wanted to be anywhere else but where he stood, glowing at me.
the perfect boyfriend, natalie had once called him.
tonight, he’s mine.
and for one excruciatingly long, dragging month, he’s held himself from me. turned down every time I tried to tempt him with what we both want. waiting for this exact moment, when I’m about to start begging, I ache so much to be one with him again.”
summer prescot is wrong. spencer isn’t a snack. he’s a latte. warm and comforting and filling and energizing. a blend of bitter and sweet, with a jolt of caffeine to make me want him more and more. each morning. every day. when I’m cold or tired or just need a simple pick-me-up. and if there’s one thing I love more than anything else in the world, it’s coffee
“And of all things, I think of Summer Prescott. Of her and her bees.
Something she loves so much, even if it might hurt her, because you don't give up on something you love.”
‘Spencer releases a breath, low but just enough for me to hear.
Immediately, his hand squeezes mine. "I... I'm sorry."
Because there are no other words to better describe that.
"You and Keeland... I know you have history. I can't promise that won't always piss me off. When I think of you with him, that you loved him... you deserved better, Kennedy. You still do. A prince. Someone who will sweep you off your feet."
Except this isn't a fantasy, with castles and princesses and daring adventures. It's not even a chick flick, with actors and exotic locales and zany meet-cutes.
This is Spencer. And me.
And though it's not a perfect analogy, when he moves, the porch swing,
well, it swings, and it feels a little bit like sweeping.’
