This was a sweet story of second chances with a lot of pain and forgiveness in their past to deal with.
Carly and Derek had been in love, had made plans and were getting married but when and Derek Carly alone to cancel their wedding without providing her with his reasons, she was humiliated, not to mentioned suffering from a broken heart.
Years later, she is planning to build an event center on her family's ranch and she needs a contractor fast to finish her project before the weather turns bad. I absolutely love this author and all her stories. Life is hard and she doesn't sugar coat it in her stories. All her stories are clean and wholesome and come with a happy ending, eventually.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Carolyne Aarsen, via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this heartwarming second chance romance between Derek and Carly. They were engaged and ready to get married when Derek was sent to prison for three years. He has served his sentence and is back home at Miller's Crossing trying to build up his construction business that his brother who is dying with brain cancer has kept afloat while Derek was in prison. Carly is having an event center built and agrees to hire Derek to finish building it after her original contractor left the job unfinished. Working together rekindles their love for each other but Carly needs to know the truth why Derek went to prison. Will she get the truth and will their love grow? You will have to read the book to find out. I highly recommend this book and I think it is the best of this series. It is a beautiful Christian romance that you can't put down once you start reading it.
Derek broke Carly's heart years ago when he broke their engagement without explanation. When she found out why, it didn't fit her image of Derek. With a deadline approaching, Carly reluctantly accepts Derek's bid because it is the only one feasible that can complete her event center. While Carly is still angry, she needs to work with him. Derek is sorry for the pain that he caused Carly, but he doesn't want to talk about the past. I received a free copy of this ebook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a very good book revolving around forgiveness, truth, and love. I love how the book is told from both Carly's and Derek's point of view. I also love how they are still drawn together despite the pain of the past. I enjoy reading this Christian romance.
Country Wedding by Carolyne Aarsen Millars Crossing Series Book Four Carly Sutton has come home to Millars Crossing. After her fiancé broke up with her and ended up in prison, she left. She's done well with avoiding Derek and his brother, but now she needs their company to finish building her event center.
Derek Gilbert needs the job with Carly. His construction company needs the boost, as not everyone is ready to hire an ex-con. It's tougher than he thought, though, seeing her every day and feeling the same feelings as he did three years ago.
Loved this story and the characters. It's not all happy, though, so you may want to keep tissues handy.
This is a beautiful story of a second chance at love. A broken engagement just weeks before the wedding, drug charges and a jail sentence all drive a wedge that seems insurmountable between Carly and Derek.
Will Derek ever trust Carly with the secret that tore them apart? Will Carly forgive Derek for breaking her heart? The bigger question is, will they both trust God to mend their hearts and relationship?
Caroline Aarsen has another five-star rating with this latest Miller's Crossing book. You, too, will enjoy getting to know the inhabitants of this small town in Western Canada, where the friendly but flawed people live, love, and grow in their faith.
Country Wedding is the 4th and final book in Carolyne Aarsen't Millars Crossing series. This author writes of clean Christian romance. The Millars Crossing series has been the story of a family who finds their chance at love.
Derek and Carly were once involved in a relationship which was to lead to marriage and both have left Millars Crossing to begin a new life. They end up back in Millars Crossing after some time and without desiring it they have been given a second chance at that lost relationship. Derek has began a construction company and Carly ends up needing his help. Both reluctant to begin again, they find that love always wins out.
I have enjoyed every one of Carolyne Aarsen's romances. I think you will too.
This was less of a romance and more of a relationship story. But don't let that deter you. It's quite good, worthy of the time spent reading it. I don't want to say too much about the plot, about its build-up, twists and conclusions because I don't want to alter your journey with this book. Suffice it to say that you may think you know what has happened in the past, but you'll fall short of the actual truths. The conclusion is beautiful. It's a standalone inside the Millars crossing books. It's a Christian story. There is more than one way to spend time in a prison and it's a reminder that the truth, oh the truth, will set you free. Invest the time in this story... it's worth it. 5 full stars -ncv
Have you ever been in an impossible situation where there are no good choices? Derek, the leading man in this story, found himself in such a place and he lost everything--his freedom, his hard-won reputation, and the love of his life. Now that he is out of prison, he is trying to move forward and has to deal with all of the repercussions of his earlier decision. This was a thought-provoking story and there were no easy answers but one theme came through--You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free. This is a story of redemption, reconciliation and true love. I highly recommend it! I was entrusted with a copy of this book by the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Millars Crossing is a very special place with some very special people, and I have enjoyed every book in the series with this family! This last book had my emotions all over the place, and I loved it! Carly and Derek were strong characters, and very relatable. Neither one of them was the type to back down, and they were both fiercely loyal to their families—Derek maybe a little too much. There were times I really wanted someone to shake some sense into his brother, but fortunately, in the end, he manned up, and everything worked out. Sigh! I so love warm and fuzzy happy endings. Ms. Aarsen is a gifted author, and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
Carly Sutton is a woman with a dream about to come true, finally, her own business.
When Carly returns home, her three older brothers are each engaged to strong independent business women. The love she witnesses is something she once thought she'd have but never did. Now what? Move ahead with her Event Center project, until she hits a snag. Who comes to help her? Someone she thought she'd never see again. This isn't a smooth transition towards a rekindled relationship. This is a story that will have you a little confused and a bit disappointed with some choices and angry with others. But I'm sure you will enjoy the ride. I certainly did.
Enjoyed reading Derek and Carly's story. Derek had spent three years in prison for a crime he didn't do. Carly had given up her dream of ever marrying Derek. Then after his release second chances looked promising. I love this whole series. If you like clean stories with second chances, you will enjoy 'Country Wedding'. I highly recommend. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
This was a sad novel, but handled with care, like all of Carolyne’ books. It is a story that makes me stop and ponder what love looks like. There were no easy answers to what happened to Derek and Carly, and yet in the midst I can see that God was at work. I’m glad I read this book, and even though it was sad, the themes of love and forgiveness shine, and the romance and ending were satisfying.
Wonderful story; great characters; and, sweet romance: it’s all in this book and more. “The truth shall set you free” is a huge part of the story-line. With all the mixed emotions of health, welfare and well-being, the confession was made. This is a powerful message and the author did a great job of making me feel a part of the story.
I could not put Country Wedding down. These wonderful, believable characters were through so much. I was so wrapped up in Carly and Derek's story. There are some powerful messages in this book. The author has a wonderful gift for telling stories of love, family and redemption. I highly recommend this book!
Carly is the one who sets out to create a center. Derek is the guy who got away from her. See he went to prison for drugs. They reconnect when he finishes her center. Can they make it work? Can she forgive him? Will the truth come out about him? This is the best story.
This was a sweet romance with Christian vibes. There was no actual Country Wedding so that is a little misleading. Yes, they were headed their at the end after they endured many obstacles, but there was a cancelled wedding and then the promise of a wedding.
A story of love, forgiveness, loyalty and trust. It was sweet. It was a quick read and I liked it.
Carly and Derek were torn apart by a choice he made. He is back and longs for her forgiveness and a second chance. Can you forgive him and admit she still loves him? A romance but also a story about family and having to decide what choice to make. Love, forgiveness and seeking God's grace.
Two people who let a secret d ed story them are finding their way back together. Family gathers close ed Lynn wanting to protect while they desperately try to put everything in order. Emotional and heartcwarming too
The author does a great job of writing the perfect ending to the series.she what me laughing throughout the entire story and crying at the end. I was also guessing how it would end until the very end. Great job of writing.
This was another great story taking place in Millars Crossing. It was a story about two people who finally found themselves and ended up being married after much sorrows and lots of happiness. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
This book has way too many secrets. A wedding he walked away and would not tell her why. This book is very emotional and will make you cry. I routed for them to find their way back to each other.
What a hard situation Derek is in! Carly and Derek are both really in a position that they need to work together. It is so hard for them but they move forward. I love watching each of their growth as the story is woven. Faith ebbs and flows and Carolyne has done a great job of showing that.
Another fine novel by Carolyne Aarsen! I loved Carly and Derek’s story of redeeming love. I enjoy the way Carolyne weaves the story with both faith and life experiences. I will definitely read more of Carolyne’s work in the future.
Loved this 4th book in this series. Derek and Carly's story was sad and full of hurt and anger. But they, and Kyle learned the importance of truthfulness.
