BRIDGER: What World-Class Innovators Do

Rate this book
How do some people see the valuable opportunities others miss? Why are some consistently better at winning idea adoption? Circumstances explain only a small part of the story. And they don’t account for the rapid improvement across individuals and enterprises after they take a better approach – within similar circumstances. What World-Class Innovators Do completes this void and builds on the author's original work in HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW. Use cases, application resources, and discovery exercises complement each chapter for deep personalization. From Fortune 500 to start-ups, and every sized and staged enterprise in between, governments to NGOs, and the talented people who comprise them, What World-Class Innovators Do has had sweeping, positive impact worldwide. Join your name to theirs.BRIDGER is part of the Premier Development series which is the result of 10+ years of research, spanning 4 continents, involving 1,000s of enterprises and 10,000s of their people to unlock why some effectively grow – and others don’t.

"Think outside the box."

I know when I have been told this, it is often accompanied by the 9 dots that you need to connect with 4 straight lines quiz. You cannot do it unless you draw lines that go outside the box.

Conceptually, that makes sense, but it can be hard to apply that kind of thinking to a computer programming problem, or a career struggle. At least until you start to change your thought patterns.

In his book, Bridger, Dr. Hunsaker, says that if you build a bigger box it is easier mentally than thinking outside the box. He has some examples that give you a way to start doing that. This will help you develop the thinking patterns that will allow you to find ways to innovate by taking something from one field and applying it to solve a problem in a different field.

This is a great example of the real-world lessons found in this book that will help you to step up your innovation game.

There are exercises for each chapter to help you check yourself and where you fit as well as teach you how to think about things differently to gain new insights in your daily life.

All the way around, this is a great book that I highly recommend to anyone that considers themself an innovator or wants to get better at finding innovative solutions.
