Half-Angel. Half-Demon. Never part of either world, but searching for a place to belong. My parents were punished for their forbidden love, but I survived unscathed. Physically. But they can't kill me, not without sending the world into chaos.
I’m not the only one with powers. There are others, and when mine are fully manifested at sixteen, my world is changed again. I'm kidnapped and taken to the Academy of Light and Dark. A school filled with the children of angels and demons. Each powerful in their own right, yet it's the 'half-breed mutt' that puts them on edge.
My name is Atalante.
Born of light and dark.
Within me resides the balance of both Heaven and Hell and I am all that is holding this fragile world together
Get ready for a new series to be hooked on! This is the prequel to Unyielding Fates which is a reverse harem series. I am new to this genre but this book and book 1 Balanced Threatened (yeah I've read that too) are making me a fan. This book is mostly an introduction but it will have you fully invested in Atalante's life. A smoking hot demon and a sexy angel come into her life. and she also finds out that she isn't just a girl whose parents died. She is powerful and the fate of world is on her shoulders! Throw in fated mates and you have a captivating start to an epic series. It's a quick read and luckily book one is available so you don't need to wait to find out more. And trust me, you'll need more. A must read for paranormal romance fans.
Lana is the only child coming from an angel and a demon union. After living on Earth for 16 years, she is sent to the academy of light and dark where she meets the demon Ezra and the angel Gabe, both tasked with her protection. However, when her powers fully awake, Lucifer and the archangel Uriel have to whisk her away for her protection.
This isn't a full-length book, so I was expecting to not get all of my questions answered; however, I still felt like everything happened too fast and Lana was too accepting. She though for years that it was the High Council who killed her parents, and just a word from Lucifer changes her mind. I felt like the author tried to make Lana into a strong woman set on revenge, but she didn't quite get there.
I loved getting this opportunity to come back and see some more of how Atalante’s story began. I’m pretty evenly split over whether I would have preferred to read this story first, or if I’m glad I read the first book before the prequel. They build on each other, so it’s safe to say these two could be read in either order. Now I’m even more excited than ever to dig deeper into the rest of the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Black Cat.
So the world building was nonexistent, except for a slight info dump about the school. The world itself had nothing. There was no character development and Lana was all over ther place in her reactions, so nothing read as genuine....also, she "screamed" way more than was believable. Lana also offhandedly referred to subspace, which REALLY didn't fit. There was no relationship building, just insta lust. This book is supposed to set the tone and explain things for the trilogy since it's a prequel. The result was my determination to never read anything written by this author ever again.
I really really enjoyed this book and proceeded to read it in one sitting. This book will grab you and not let you go, moving along at a nice reading speed which makes for an enjoyable read. The characters will keep your interest and you want to know more about them. This is a must read book, thee is no doubt about it, so add to your list now and get ready for an amazing read.
This book is the prequel to the trilogy, you don't have to read it but why wouldn't you when it shows the first time Lana meets her mates!? It's a great insight into Lana before she joins the academy, what her life was like prior and some history for the other characters. It gives you a great introduction to the series and will definitely want you reading more.
This was a great prequel to the series as it showed how Atalanta met Gabe and Ezra, and the impact she had on them in such a small amount of time. It also hinted at one of the things revealed in Balance Threatened and if I had read this first it wouldn’t have been such a shock.
This is exactly what was needed before reading Balance 1. Enough background without spoilers. Now I'm ready for Balance 2. Excellent world building begun here and beginning character development. Looking forward for more.
What a great prequel it's exactly what I needed to prepare me for this new series. I'm super excited to see what else is in store for this new series. As always my reviews are totally voluntary and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Oooh I need to go get book 2! So Lana has some tragedy in life. She ends up getting whisked away to the Academy of Light and Dark. Things happen! What will happen to her? I need to know!! Hopefully it involves the 2 sexy men! Go read this book!
Was barely able to get through this with the awkward writing. But alas, it was short and I managed. Had it been a full length novel I would've rated lower due to inability to finish.
