I thought having my diploma as a Magical Engineer would be the answer to all my problems, I couldn't have been more wrong.
In an attempt to take down the resistance, I became their target. Now I have no MET, no home, And the entire world thinks I'm dead.
Hidden, I need to find a way to flush out the mole who has wormed his way into AMIA, That's the only way I'll have my life and freedom back.
If only things were so easy.
To make things even more complicated, The Arcane heirs keep popping up left and right with their sexy good looks and hard... abs. They're a distraction I should try to avoid, but can't quite resist.
When did my Chaotic life become so Hectic?
Author Note: Hectic is book two of the Arcane Mage series. This book is a reverse harem romance intended for adult audiences. It contains adult language, lots of cursing, and sexual themes that are not suitable for anyone under the age of eighteen.
A scientist at heart, T.S. Snow lives in a land far far away, secluded from most authors and readers (rumor has it that if you open your wardrobe you can find her hiding in there trying to take a nap). T.S. has a thirst for learning new languages, even if she is mostly worried about finding out new curse words in them. She has an amazing support system that include a loving boyfriend, her family, friends and her loyal - if completely lazy - dog. When she's not writing, T.S. can often be found causing complete chaos with her friends on social media, inhaling unhealthy amounts of coffee, or napping. Mostly napping.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am thankful that I am smart enough to abandon this series at the juncture.
I enjoyed the last book and was expecting the harem to come along nicely in this book. Instead half the harem is missing the entire book. Considering she was presumed dead in the last book, I would have thought that they would mourn her, instead most of them go upon their daily activities and when-if at most-they remembered her, it was only to talk about how she would have made their Magical Equipment better or that she would have been good in bed.
The ones that were with her didn't even seem like they were part of the harem, they were just lusting after her and that was it. There was nothing tying them together except the lust.
The end sealed the deal in my not wanting to read the next book, first off these boys don't even act sad about her supposed death except to think of what she would have done for their houses and then they want to place a bet on who gets her? Na dawg, miss me with that BS. I'm out!
Pages: 293 My rating: 2 Read other books by this author in the future: yes MC: Charisma, Bastille, Theo Soulbinder, Blaze Futhark, Logan Nightshade, Andres, Illudre, SC: Blair
I rated the first book 3.5 stars round up to four. I was eager to read the next one, but just look how long it took me to read it, When I got bored I would read something else in-between. Two things stand out here: The sidekick Blair Illudre another AMIA Agent and the inner rants of Char. But they get to much at some point.
It felt like nothing moves on. Not the relationships, not the story until the end, where there was a big boom: because she found one suspects and Char’s cousin rounded her ongoing affair with Fucktard. I liked Andres and at the beginning Blaze. Bastille got only little page time - like Logan. So I can’t say anything about his Character development but he is far the nicest guy here. Blaze wants to be Char’s boyfriend but forgot to tell her his secret. Logan is alpha male possessive extraordinary and he only wants Char for her skills and maybe to warm his bed when he wants that. Theo acts like a stalker the whole time, but there seems to be a real reason why he broke up with Char, even if it is silly for an adult. And Andres contradicts himself, because one minute he wants to be with Char and the other minute he thinks she is better of with some steady boyfriend just to pursue her and declare his interest.
I know this author is pretty new to publishing book and I know she can write a good story, because Chaotic was something different. But please work on the endings: the first time a cliffhanger the second time a pissing contest both no good endings. And I am sorry but this book bored me to no end but my RHR friends with whom I buddy read this one, they finished the book, so I tried really hard and finally made it but only because I hate to def a book.
TS Snow is a brand new author, with her first ever book having released only a few months ago. that being said, you honestly wouldn’t know it by just reading her books. i know i’m not the only one who finished Chaotic, pouted because of the cliffhanger, and quickly went to see what else was on her backlist. (only to realize it was her first published work)
Chaotic (book 1) was fantastic, and set the bar pretty high. Often we see book two in a series (especially in RH) not live up to the first, but this one was just as enjoyable. I loved learning more about the guys and charisma, loved seeing the character development and intricate world building, and definitely loved the new side characters.
Something else that I appreciate about this book is that the guys aren’t pushed on us. they don’t get equal screen time but honestly it made a lot of sense this way. There’s more going on than just the ✨ romance ✨, and if you’ve seen my reviews before you know i’m a sucker for a slow build.
all in all, i can’t wait to see what happens next and will be eagerly waiting for book 3.
Book 2 in this series and the world building and characterisation keep going from strength to strength. The relationships at the heart of the story feel fresh and unique, the characters interesting and relateable, and the plot twists just keep on coming. An excellent and entertaining read. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
An enjoyable read, but not much happened or was accomplished in this book. We mostly saw more interaction between Charisma and Theo and Blaze - most of the other men didn't show up for most of the book. Some long held secrets are finally revealed which was a relief. Looking forward to more happening in the next book. ------ Ratings - completed series: #1 Chaotic: ★★★★★ #2 Hectic (this book): ★★★☆☆ #3 Erratic: ★★★☆☆ #4 Frenetic: ★★★☆☆ #5 Ecstatic: ★★★☆☆ #6 Charismatic: ★★☆☆☆
This one was definitely not as good as the last one. The h was just not as badass and at times I was skimming through the pages cause I was bored.
Also why is it taking so long for the reverse harem part of the story to begin. At this point she is still just flirting with most of the guys and this is book 2 out of 3. Also Logan really is a tool. He doesn’t appreciate her at all and just wants to use her as a magical engineer. How is this guy even considered a love interest. HE DIDN’T EVEN REALLY CARE WHEN HE THOUGHT SHE WAS DEAD!!! So yeah he’s a total asshole and not in the hot way.
I also thought the ending would be better like the last book but it was really predictable. I knew who the mole was halfway through the book and was just waiting for the characters to catch up.
Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off seamlessly. I read the book inside of one evening cutting 2.5 hours off of my nights sleep. It made for a rough next day but I found Hectic unputdownable. PS. Thank goodness Charisma's eyebrows were saved.
3,5 stars ish Omg i love Char our nerdy mc, she is so funny and amusing. She reminds me a bit of Azzie from The JAK2 Cycle series by V. E. S. Pullen and Callie from The cardinal series by Mia Smantz. The nerdy gang
I only regret that i read this to fast, now i have to wait until the next one :((
I enjoyed reading this book a lot as it made me laugh on multiple occasions. It's a bit of a slower burn/build and I'm really looking forward to the next books, to see the development with all the main characters
Absolutely devoured this. Don't normally read books that don't have at least a few in series but the mfc was just too wonderful and clumsy like me. Can't wait to read more. JL
Was a tad disappointed. The main character was so bad ass in the first book. This time she seemed to stumble around and make inane embarrassing comments for the majority of the time letting the guys fight over her like a dog bone.
I’m going to start this review by saying I didn’t want to throw my kindle across the room at the end of the book, unlike last time. The ending has more of a kerbhanger than a cliffhanger. There is definitely a lot more story to come but the ending comes at a natural break in the plot (thankfully).
As you may have gathered by the sheer existence of a second book in the series, the main character Char is not, in fact dead. Dum Dum DUUUUUHH! She is however, very, very injured. When Char wakes up she comes face to face with her ex Theo, who desperately wants to get back together with her, which is why he was there when her apartment blew up.
The AMIA wants Char to stay in hiding and to pretend to be dead so that they can flush out the mole that allowed the rebellion to escape from their round up and got Char almost killed. Char ends up in a safe house with Blaze and Blair, a fellow agent.
This book is the same as the first in the way the plot keeps you turning pages quickly. There’s so much going on, I didn’t want to stop for lunch. The male characters start to show themselves a lot more clearly in this book, though this is still a slow building RH. That’s not to say there isn’t plenty of heat, just not between multiple men yet.
The world building is getting a lot more interesting, with more of the social structure being explained, though there are still very large gaps in the information given to the reader. I think there are some pretty good reasons why it's still missing and they are all plot related. I get the feeling that the author has fleshed out the society, magic system and plot in her head and is only revealing what we really need to know for everything to be unveiled in the best way possible.
As you might have guessed I really love this series. The characters are great and the story is anything but straight forward and I can’t wait to read the next book. When’s it due out again?????
ETA: Erratic is out on 11th March 2021 That's so far away (sobs)
I like Char, and I really don’t. I love the guys, and I really don’t. Its a confusing conundrum and it’s getting worse. She’s brilliant, but also brilliantly immature and flighty. She makes bad choices, and the men around her are equally immature and teenage like. That last chapter almost made me toss my kindle…. Come on Theo, you creepy stalker.
Yet even with all of that, it’s still an interesting story. I really want to know what’s up with the rebellion…. I could just do without the drama.
I love love this book. The characters are fantastic i also love me a nerdy clumsy heroine with hot love interests and genuinely never know what's going to happen next. Thank you for your books cant wait for the next one!
Hectic is book two in the ‘Arcane Mange’ series by T.S. Snow and after the cliff-hanger of book one, we are thrust back into Chastity’s atmosphere. Chastity’s story picks up where we left her and her life is a hot mess. With no home, no magic and people after her, her only job is to try and find the mole in the AMIA so that she can get her life back and do what she is good at…making MET’s, playing videogames and being her super self! But life has other plans for Chas, the Arcane Heirs keep popping up everywhere she’s going trying to claim her, which just adds to the hot mess of her life.
I really enjoyed the world building of this book, as we get to know more about Chastity and her role in the AMIA, as well as how she finds herself in trouble at every turn. She’s such a snarky character which is really refreshing and that her guys love her for being quirky and different. We delve a lot more into Andres and Blaze in this book with only snippets of the other two heirs…. I’m sure there is more to come. And the introduction to Blair was great (she’s going to add some extra sass to the storyline, I can tell!)
Overall, this was a quick read book for me, with a lot of drama going on for Chas and lots of things behind the scenes going on (epilogue). I’ll definitely be giving the next book a read when it comes out!
2-2.5⭐️’s - Unfortunately, I’ll not be finishing this series. I really enjoyed the first book and liked the pace. This one dragged on for-ev-er and it didn’t feel like much happened outside of the same “quirky” rambling and clumsiness as the first.
It got to the point where there was SO much rambling, I started fast forwarding through the chapters to get to the actual plot, because there was literally 10 minutes of rambling at 1.4x speed! It was giving me really bad anxiety and flared up my ADD, which is a terrible situation when I read at night.
I came close to DNF-ing, and decided to suck it up in hopes it’d get better. I got distracted and started reading reviews on the other books in the series, and decided they all sounded the same and I’d rather not. And ultimately there doesn’t seem to be answers to 95% of the plot conflicts. Nope! Thanks anyway!
In love with this series. char is a clumsy, beautiful, funny as hell techi , who comes across as an awarked, blushing woman. Her family are unbelievably horrid to her because if her low magical power. But she is so much more then that. Men are coming at her left, right and centre that she has no idea what's going on. She is very cleVer and doesn't beat around the bush but can be senstive . Amazing READ couldn't put the book down!!
Great book, loved how it jumped right in where the cliffhanger left it from book one. Great to see more of the guys in this book and see them realise that Char is AMAZING! Blair is a great addition to this book, in her sexy leather getup. This book is do well written with tonnes of detail, I honestly did not put it down until the very last word. That epilogue- wow!! Can’t wait for the next book!
Charisma has to be one of my favourite heroines! She's for all Sass, not afraid to kick some a**!! You get to see a bit more of Char interacting with Theo (boooo hisssss) and Andres. Add in the ongoing heat with *ucktard, Bast desperately looking for answers and Logan working behind the scenes you have one awesome second book. I can’t wait to see what Char gets up to in the next book.
Such a great sequel. I loved the dynamics between characters. There’s so many secrets bouncing around and it seems that Charisma is the center of them all. I can’t wait to see what happens next
This is the most painful story progression of my life. I was ok with the first book, though, honestly, I wasn’t all that into all the guys being in her harem. And now I know that this stupid story is going to play out in minor increments over multiple books. I’m not going to bother with them until it’s done. I mean, no one book is a whole story that then leads into another whole story with all books evolving an overarching arc. No, each book is basically a soap opera episode. And like a soap opera you can skip a couple and not miss much. Except... except... I got my hate on for the guys. So that was great. I wasn’t super psyched by all the guys in one harem, because it is BORING. I mean, there isn’t a good foil unless you’re pitting girl against girl and that is so lame. I wanted a some power couples and some friend couples, but meh, fine. Another super, amazing, most beautiful and doesn’t know it, smartest, most speshul girl. Ugh, yawn, authors! Try another trope for gods sake. Anyway the guys were jealous, insecure, self serving jerks who never respected the girl’s boundaries. So, love. I’m not letting that slide today, I guess. I wanted this girl, off the pedestal, and with a FEW guys that actually respected her, to kick butt. Think I’ll go back and read myself some foxy Emma Dean.
Char spent WAY too much time “digressing”. This book was like one long inner monologue of stream of consciousness. It was distracting and unnecessary. As a result I wound up skimming her inner monologues and by the time she got back to the point I forgot what the point was. The actual story was maybe a quarter of the book. The whole “lost magic” thing was just annoying. The story didn’t move forward at all until the last chapter. Could be great. Instead was just mediocre.
Well, the author is at the beginning of her career, it's normal that there are things to improve. The story is good, the characters and the plot have a lot of potential (otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my time writing such a long review).
I think what is most lacking in this book are some subplots that have substance. The main plot is to find the mole in AMIA. What is happening in the meantime lacks substance. Charisma's clumsiness is not enough. We could have learned more about the rebels, or about the past of the mages, about Arcane, about AMIA ... and about the characters! But most of the time, the inner monologues of Charisma's men are about their desire for her. For me, this is insufficient, I want to know more about their personality, their past. The same infos is repeated about them (for example, Andres repeats that he admired Charisma from afar during their five years at the Academy. This info is told in book 1, it would have been nice to learn something else about him. in book 2. There are plenty of other unnecessary repetitions in this volume. It seems to me that each book cannot be read independently of the others, so why not go deeper?). Okay, so we're learning a bit more about Necromancers, which is good. But it is not enough for my taste.
There is also some information that would have deserved more detail to make the coherence with the plot clearer.
Finally, the epilogue.
So, I'm gonna read next book because I still like Charisma and Bastille (ok, and Blair), and I want answers for my numerous questions. I just hope that this won't be a skipped read.
